(Solved) 2-way call recording on the htc one x (Working) - HTC One X

Hi all,
Maybe it's a little early to ask, but, will or can the HTC ONE X record calls? I know it will not come as standard and that root and custom kernel will probably be required.
Is this something that will likely be supported or even possible? I currently have a rooted desire with custom kernel and call recording through CallRecorder by Skvalex, it works flawlessly.
Will this be possible? I need to know as I have pre-ordered the One X but can still cancel it.
Please do not bring legal discussions to this thread, I know the law where I live and this feature is not illegal here.
Many thanks for reading
Oliver
xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxx Update (21st April 2012) xxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
To enable 2 way call recording on our HOX we need...
The HTC One X kernel source code to be released (apparently this should be done this within 3 months of the phone's release?), please help encourage HTC to do this sooner by messaging them via their official site and twitter. Here are the links...
http://www.htcdev.com/contact
http://www.twitter.com/htcdev
Then we need a developer to edit the kernel source code to enable 2wcr
Experianced developers Leedroid and avs333 have already kindly offered to work on this for us.
If you wish to help support the developer you can donate to...
Leedroid here
and
avs333 here (via skvalex's website)
Also we need a call recording app to work with the newly developed kernel, Skvalex has a superb app that should be able to fulfil this. you can support his development by purchasing his call recorder app on Google play (Obviously not currently working with our One X's but is flawless on my old HTC Desire with kernel by avs333).
I have made a small donation to each developer and purchased the app, hopefully this must have feature will be available soon thanks the developers here.
XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX UPDATE 6th MAY 2012 XXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX
HTC have now released the kernel source code it can be downloaded from here...

Developers please do you stuff and allow us 2 way recording
XXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX UPDATE 17th MAY 2012 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Success, today Onepagebook posted a patch that has been confirmed to enable 2 way recording.
hasan_abeer was the first to leave feedback, he wrote "millions of thanks to you really works great with shavlak call recorder from market,,,, sorce microphone and standard source through mic"
Mountain King also left positive feedback.. "Tested with Auto Call Recorder Pro. Work like a charm!!! This is a must have mod for my 1x. Thank million )"
<Here is the link for Onepagebook's patch and the full thread>
If you use this patch please leave us feedback, it would also be nice to thank him on his thread.
Big thanks to Onepagebook for his excellent work, your a star!
XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX UPDATE 20th MAY 2012 XXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX
I today rooted my phone mainly to use onepagebook's patch and may I say it was worth it, great quality, well recomended!
I have wrote a noob's guide, a little review and uploaded some sample recordings.
<<<View my guide, review and sample my recordings here>>>

I believe if a Kernel developer want he can add that feature. So it's upto the Kernel developer. I'm using Xperia Arc and our Kernel developer has introduced that feature.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sure a kernel will be developed soon.
Just looking forward to getting my phone on Thursday now

The guy who developed Kernel with 2 way call recording at Xperia is here at One X he's planning to get one. So I'm guessing we'll get 2 way call recording

Once we whet hold of kernel source I will be implementing said feature....

Just a noob question though... the chipset doesn't have to be a qualcomm chipset to enable 2wcr does it?

Don't forget that HTC One X based on tegra 3, so there is no kernel patch for this chipset..

So anyone who already have One X, haven't tried any type of call recording (from patch, standard api or any other way) yet?
and what is possibility of somewhat working call recording happening?
Thanks.

Hi Skvalex, great to hear from you in this thread.
I am a big fan of your work and paid up user of your excellent call recorder (on my desire).
When you say there is no kernel patch for this chip set, do you just mean not yet? Or is this not possible. I think/hope some developers are working on this. I really hope 2 way recording will be available.
Cheers

Yes, this patch is not created yet.. But there is no possibility to create 2wcr patch without the device.. So I've created web page to receive a donations to buy HTC One X.
And I know only one developer who can create this patch - avs333 (avs234 everywhere). He made possible to record from the line on HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, HTC Sensation, LG Optimus 3D, Galaxy Nexus and on other similar devices. And money from donations will be spent for device for him.

you'll probably kill the phone beyond flash recovery
you don't need to install the HTC Desire ROM to get the software.
the only thing you need is to download the .APK from a HTC Desire phone

No, it's highly unlikely you'd "kill" your phone irreversibly by trying to flash a Desire ROM, those phones are too different for it to be of any real danger. But it won't work, of course, and would require reflashing for sure.
And no, installing a Sense UI application from Desire to SGS is nowhere near as easy as you suggest - you'd need to make the application independent on Desire framework at the very least.
the italian guys forum did it already on the previous Galaxy
we just need to get them to share that with us, as they made it part of the rom for Galaxy instead of having it as an idependent install
it was to do with a special promotion they were doing to advertize their site.
HTC Desire features on Samsung Galaxy S
Sorry for the weird thread name. I'm stuck between the Samsung galaxy S i9000(SGS) and the HTC Desire. The SGS was a winner but still the SGS has issues that can't be overlooked by me.
1) Will Samsung support SGS till android 3 is released and if not is it possible to install stable version of android 3.xx on the SGS. ?
2) Can the HTC Sense UI be ported on the SGS ?
3) Has anybody noticed any lags while using the SGS ?
4) can the touchwiz UI be customised ??
5) when is the froyo update coming
1. Nobody knows how Android 3.x looks like or when it'll be out, so that's a question without answer both for Galaxy and Desire.
2. Yes, but might be a lot of work to port it properly and completely
3. Yes. There are community fixes and now it's been pretty much fixed in some of the leaked Samsung firmwares as well.
4. A bit.
5. September.
I gave Galaxy S a go.
Lag issues are fixed by now.
GPS issues are being investigated, but since this doesnt concern my particular device I dont know much about them.
Well main SGS's annoyances for meh are missing LEDs. One for notification, and another one for camera flash.
[Q] HTC Desire Android port
is it possible that someone makes an Android with Sense port like the HTC Desire one...?!
I think this version with the HTC Sense interface is just more usefriendly than the interface from Samsung...
would be great!
There have been enough threads about this topic already. So far, it's not happened. Perhaps it will eventually happen. And when it eventually does, everyone will know about it.
So please, people, stop asking (making threads) about Sense on Galaxy.
The closest is to use a Launchpro plus theme that does sense. The theme is in the Themes and Apps thread

HTC Aria users please wait .will release at monday.
This is brilliant news! I'm not a developer but I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to jump in and port it to the Hero. Can't wait for some ROM's to start popping up.
My Personal Experience of this ROM
Camera does not work for sure
ROM is very smooth, boot time is much faster than Sense 2.1! Around 30 seconds for me.
Some small visual changes which are nice.
Facebook for HTC Sense works!
First boot is in chinese, if you can do the setup in chinese then go to Language and change to English. However this is American English, I'm sure somebody will port over UK English.
One little thing I'm missing is MENU to unlock lockscreen which is a little VillainROM thing, I'm sure they'll add that.
Apps just seem to.. open near enough instantly!
It has a WAP Browser LOL, removed that.
Wi-Fi doesn't work as mentioned above.
It has a goapk bootscreen and a GoMarket.
Has some new HTC apps: News,App Sharing, HTC Marketplace (?), Notes, Videos
It's good so far.
Man 3 days Why not now?
Hmm using google I found out that you're probably a Chinese developer and "/media/rom/tenfar/HTC/ROM/LIBEIMG_Liberty_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_2.32.405.1_Radio_4 7.52.35.18_7.13.35.05_release_154177_signed.zip" is probably the last part of a URL but I cannot figure out the first part

but it works for hero
Great news, hope you can upload it soon
can you post this rom as it is for us HTC Aria Users? This rom should run as it is on an aria. If so either post in the aria developer forum on this site or pm the link to me. Thanks in advanced.
Wow nice work man!
I really hope this is real! And give it to some good devs, like the VillainRom team, they offer really great work to everyone, or just send it directly to Ninpo ;-)

The wifi probably doesn't work because you need a matching kernel/wifi module. You device might not have the same wifi as the gratia. Try a cyanigenmod kernel/wifi module with it. Also if you can post the original rom for others to look at I'd be grateful.

My gps was actually really good prior to the agps patch but it does improve it without a doubt.
My only concern in using the patch is that it can never be as stable as googles own! Now i say this only because i like to check everything i install to the best of my ability and many wont be aware that even the creator of this patch says it might not last forever! If you open the gps. Conf you will find a lot of explanation to the patch and how it works, You will also see this...... See screenshot.
So it may one day mean the servers no longer run if he needs donations?

Yes, I've been aware of this. The worst about it is that it could be easily used by others (aka stolen) but the creator of this much loved patch most certainly won't earn a penny on it :-/

Only one sound channel through speakers: Is that normal?

Hi all,
I just bought my new HTC One V, day before yesterday.
Playing sound (i.e., music) through the speakers, I only hear one channel (left or right, not sure).
Playing sound through headphones or bluetooth, I hear both.
Is that normal for this phone? Or is it a hardware fault (I have tried several music players. The stock player, vlc, vanilla).
The example song I was using was 'No expectations' from the Rolling stones....
At the lead in, where you have the rhythm guitar playing the chords, and then the lead guitar comes in with the slide on the other channel (mostly)....
well, its that slide guitar that I barely hear (because it is mainly on that channel that isn't being played through the phone speaker).
So, what do you reckon. Take it back? Or is this normal? As long as it is not a fault, then I am satisfied.
Thanks in advance!
sean
Is it a bug, or is it a feature?
Hi guys,
i'm hoping someone else still owns this phone... and can tell me if they hear both channels (left & right) out of the regular speaker when playing music.... surely someone can quickly check this for me?
Gratefully,
Sean
I checked with this http://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_stereo.php and I only could hear left
Hi
Yes its "normal"
Speaker is actually mono and right channel is "skipped"
But dont ask me why the right one
max
ok, good enough
Thanks guys,
guess it is a firmware stuff up ... and we all suffer from it.
Granted, not many people listen to music through that little speaker, but sometimes one has no choice....
and then to only hear one channel, its a little disappointing ..... htc....
Otherwise, so far, a good phone.
thanks again for your answers.
Hi
You wont believe it
THIS IS A BUG IN HTC STOCK KERNEL!!!!!
Well - next KISS kernel will have a fix
Max
Not surprised
Hey Hey!
thanks for the info!
I didn't think it was normal.
And while it is a little disappointing to find what I thought such an obvious bug in a popular phone,
i've been nothing but impressed so far with the number of updates coming through from HTC,
so if they do indeed manage to fix this one soon, they'll have one (more) happy customer.
still no resolution
@maxwen
So, a long long time between updates for the phone, and when one comes, still no fix for the sound.
My version numbers (in Germany) are now:
Android: 4.0.3
HTC Sense version: 4.0
Software number: 2.22.401.6
HTCSDK API Level 4.11
HTC Extension version: 403_1_GA_5
Kernel version: 3.0.16-g133e482
checked my stereo song from the Rolling stones, and still no twanging guitar in prominence.
Guess HTC doesn't read this forum...
What made you think there'd be a fix coming, maxwen?

Yes, i'm sure it is easy. However, it is not the case where it runs well which I am cautious about, but the case when it does not.
Suddenly, an easy operation becomes not so easy.
What I think I will need to find out are:
1. optimal method to root
2. If possible to backup firmware/os state beforehand
3. Of course, no use backing up unless it is possible to easily restore after accidentally bricking
4. if one can do all this from linux
My need/want becomes now even more urgent, as that latest update I just installed removed from me the the possible to open a browser of choice from a link in my email (for example) and now always only opens the stock browser (which does not suit me).

Ahh, I completely misunderstood ....
I need to look up what a KISS means (unless it is just 'keep it simple stupid, and simply just the name of his own custom kernel release... )
thanks.

msm-8930

Hey guys, I know this isn't exactly the perfect place to post this, but I have a HTC One SV, it just so happens that the One SV and the One VX are both based on the msm8930 chipset and have approximately same specifications and the like, I'm looking for some assistance with getting a working build of cyanogenmod/ a basic device tree for this chipset as there are currently none available to use as a base for further development. If anyone else has been working on this or wants to help work on this send me a message or post down below, I haven't put anything up on github or anywhere yet because my working directory is an absolute mess but I can if desired.
This is definately something the HTC One VX users want. There is *is* a working CM10 build done by JMZTaylor. However it doesn't have worming audio nor sensors, camera etc and obviously suffers from random reboots.
I've myself taken a stab at getting the in call audio working and its driven me pretty mad. JMZtaylor is also suffering from the same affliction. He's still currently working on it.
But as of right now, he's really the only one with the best knowledge of what *not* to do regarding CM10 on this phone.
Remember Thomas Edison learned 100 ways not to make a light bulb before he learned how.

You should talk to simon sickle, dude:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4973732
He is building cm for boost mobile One SV! Maybe he can help.
Look at his thread in boost mobile forum:

I have given my device folders to simon. I don't want to release publicly because I still have issues I need to iron out before letting anyone get them. I think I know his problem with the ROM not booting but I dunno

Thanks jmz, it looks like Simon has uploaded his work to his github, and I totally understand about ironing out issues, I feel exactly the same way.
