Sorry for this noob question but I'm new to using IRC. I have downloaded #Andchat from the market and then added a new server (see below screen shot) but i just cant get connected.....any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
When i try to connect it fails 3 times giving the message: "Disconnected: failed to connect to webchat.freenode.net/140.211.167.103(port 6667) ..... isConnected failed: ECONNREFUSED (Connection refused)".
Thanx mates.

How about live discussions?

A couple of us have started an channel on IRC Efnet network clled #htc
Join us there if you want!
A live discussion is a good complement to the forum, I think.

I've been thinking about this for a while, but since my irc knowledge is about five years old and all my bots have disappeared. I simply never got round to it. I even have to reinstall an irc client to get to you guys. or do you have a Java applet floating somewhere in cyberspace?
Well we haven't set anything up, but you could use the great client on
this page:

(It's not java, just ordinary cgi
Just enter a nickname, when connected type /join #htc and you're in!

Edited first post to reflect the now established IRC channel.
Come on Devs!
This topic deserves sticky
+1 on sticky...
I worry that this will promote people harassing the dev's why they try to brainstorm and work.
I know If I came to the irc channel I would shut up watch and try to learn.
But not everyone has this level of respect.

Nah, Its still up to the Dev to even show up if he/she isn't social then they don't go to IRC. Plus there are plenty of options to ignore PM(s) etc. Lastly there are OPs to keep the peace. If done right it can help greatly.

I agree. It's very easy to mute the idiots, and as someone who wants to learn, it would be really helpful just to watch some experienced devs work. Plus, I feel like a lot of the development talk as been moved away from the dev forum and into PMs and the like because people can't learn to search and/or use the Thanks button.
Plus, I just miss IRC, and this gives me a reason to idle again.
+1
A well run IRC channel isn't about being policed. It's supposed to be fun yet productive (well I don't know about that )
However OPs exist to maintain order. So if an issue does arise, they're there to diffuse it.
also the nice part of being in irc is you can get live help from other users <<< lurker in there lol.

Many thanks for the IRC link BLOWNCO...
I think that we have many new users that dont fully understand the reason behind an IRC node, and just how useful it can be.
For new people that have never been on IRC, it houses veteran users, and those familiar with our device and code. It stands as a resource for us if we get into a jam and need to speak with people on the cutting edge of development for this device. (Many are current developers for our device)...SO PLAY NICE !!
Be kind and courteous when inside of the IRC, but dont be afraid to ask your questions either. The mods/admins/devs that host the channel are kind, and will help you get your device back up and running if possible. It is also a good place to talk about that new trick or hack that makes our devices even better.
My time spent on 4 IRC channels has always been productive, and I have learned more there, than anywhere else.
Now go check it out !!, and learn !!......g
