GN with Samsung Updates/how get those by Google instead? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi
I just got the Galaxy Nexus (unlocked version sold in canada for Rogers/Bell)
I found out that updates are done by Samsung and not by Google in the Canadian version.
I'm looking for a way to get the update as soon as google push them instead of having to wait for samsung to maybe thing about they should or should not forn a commity that will decide if maybe they could or could not release an update to canadian ....and 10 years later get 1 update after google released jello/jellybean lolll
It's my 4th android phone (Dream, SGS, Infuse, GN). I rooted the sgs and the infuse (never used adb yet). And i guess that if i want update from google I will need GN tool.
What I would like to know is where can I get the rom that is working with google OTA updates. That rom must have french language loaded on it if possible.
My gn is a Canadian GSM model. Not cdma or LTE.
If anyone has a link to the official ics rom stock directly from google as they made it please point me a link to it.
If it does not come with google apps I will also need a link to where I can get it.
Thanx a lot. If I get good answer and succeed, i will write a post about doing it for dummy (like me) english with french translation under it.

Please search the forums. There are already several threads covering this topic.
You want to move from yakjuux to yakju.
That information should assist you in your search.

Can it be possible to point me to the one that could help me then?

[Need confirmation] Another Galaxy Nexus GSM version

OK, I bought my phone as well as many other of my friends from clove.co.uk and handtec.co.uk.
The phone came with the build ITL41F and baseband I9250KKXX1.
Using morelocale2 and the settings 'iw, IL' giving us part Hebrew support (right to left but still English menu).
Some retailers here in Israel reports they have galaxy nexus with the option to chose Hebrew from the language menu and it will completely turn the phone to Hebrew (including menu).
Trying to get the details so I'll know what the version is so I can flash it on my galaxy nexus but he retailers doesn't give any details.
Please if you can check your galaxy nexus and see in the languages if you have Hebrew (not for keyboard), will gladly to inform me.
I checked my languages menu for 'Hebrew' and 'עברית' (not sure if thats right... thanks to google translate). But neither are in the menu.
GSM version btw.
apparently there is another baseband which i'm having issues to find it.
thanks for trying anyway!
Hi DId you get any updates regarding RTL?
A very late reply
Only came across this thread now, probably not relevant anymore, but hey.. you never know!
As far as I can see, official Hebrew support (as in the system UI being in Hebrew) doesn't seem to be something that Google provides out of the box, but rather something that Samsung itself has made.
Let me explain - when I first got our phones, they came with the yakjuxw (Samasung) build. After updating the phones to the Google official 4.0.4 update, the option for Hebrew (along with many other languages) had disappeared at the initial startup screen as a system language.
If you want to make your system language Hebrew, you need to either
a) downgrade to one of Samsungs builds (4.0.2)
*or* (if you haven't already done this)
b) flash a custom ROM with the language built in it. I have AOKP, which is excellent, and I've tried the CM9 nightlies, also with Hebrew.
I recommend the latter option, by the way (who wants to downgrade?)

ICS for users outside the USA

Hi everyone - just wondered if everyone in the neglected zones (i.e. everywhere Acer is refusing to release ICS for the A100) could re-double the pressure on their local Acer support to see if they will release ICS for "the common man"
I put in a request and this is what I got back (so helpful - not):
Response Via Email(Sunil Kumar BVL) - 19/07/2012 12.33 PM
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Acer UK.
We apologize for the delay in responding to your e-mail.
We understand your concern and regret the inconvenience caused to you.
There has been no further updates to when there will be further ICS FOTA updates, for A100 tablet.
For further assistance please do not hesitate to e-mail or contact us on 0871 760 1000 (UK), 0818 202 210 (Eire).

They really really want people to buy an alternative as soon as possible don't they?
Nexus 7, despite lack of MicroSD and HDMI, looks like the only answer dammit!

Or just install the official ics rom that zeronull released though the stock recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611696
Or install one of the hc versions that are known to ota to ics. The only thing stopping you from ota'ing to ics is the version of hc you are currently on.

I could not work out the process for installing the leaked ICS - it seemed as if a small pre-OTA download was required before the main ICS update could be installed. That is why I was rather hoping to just get stock ICS (for christs sake) - and of course I would then also be able to buy and watch Play store films.
I am joining a forum well down the track and looking over zillions of past posts to find the correct way to root and update the rom on this thing is tricky. I am not a complete noob having rooted and custom rom'ed my past 4 Android devices - phones and tablets, but all of them have had little details which if you got wrong could end up bricking them. Not keen to do that thanks.
Also, I guess I just get a bit peeved at how we get everything months late here in the UK - we are not exactly a techno backwater.
And I do think I am right to be peeved at the pathetic effort from Acer UK support (oxymoron)
Anyway - I finally got ICs last Thursday (26th July 2012). Now I am super peeved because it has screwed up Adobe Flash (useful here in the UK to watch BBC iPlayer and other BBC news videos. Looks like the root and custom ROM option is going to be the way to go after all.

If you're looking for help on rooting unlocking and flashing etc check the guide in my sig, it in turn has links for threads pertaining to each process. Really the only thing to do is READ. I'm not singling you out, but a lot skip over stuff and that's when mistakes happen.
The process is all scripted now. Simple as (once adb is up)
Run root script
Run boot loader unlock script
Delete or rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Install recovery
Boot into recovery, backup, flash as normal.
Overly simplified rundown, but accurate. All of my ROMs run checks for device ID but not all do, so I would suggest for safety to look only here for ROMs. That guide also links to some for the a100.
If you have questions or concerns ask before guessing and you'll do fine. That's if you choose to go this route, of course.
Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.
Thanks everyone for your advice and help.
I am now very happy with Flex Reaper. Everything backed up using nandroid on CWM.
Everything runs sweetly and with the exception of Polaris Office (a shame - it looks as if it is better than QuickOffice). I looked to see if changing the build.prop model declaration would fix it (there are reports of this working for the A500) but all A100 ROM versions seem to state the model as simply being A100 and I am not keen on tinkering unless I know others have checked out the results in advance.
If anyone has a solution for this I would be interested.

Take a look at the build.prop linuxsociety is working on, it has the A500 model change as well as plenty of tweaks for performance. I haven't used it myself as I'm running my own variants of jellytime and/or CM10, but for ICS it will do perfectly. He's working on a jellybean version as well.

root + unlock galaxy s2 lte rogers canada i727r

Hi everyone. I'd like to root + unlock my phone for free, hence why I'm here.
Now I appreciate all the work everyone has done first of all but the documentation is a bit lacking here. I've found countless threads telling me how to unlock the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE on Rogers in Canada. Model SGH-I727R aka skyrocket? Android version 4.1.2. Kernel version I don't know it's not even close to what people are saying it should look like. Some flibertygibbit number that I can type out if needed.
But every time I read a thread, some file is missing or the link is broken or it asks for a different version of android or it asks me to find the kernel version and tells me it should look like XXYY but it looks more like JHAGUFGU.
Can anyone please direct me to a WORKING and RECENT thread that doesn't have broken links and will actually work on my phone and version. Or tell me how to root it properly with the files necessary.
I swear I used search :S
and google. Everything is from 2011 or 2.3.5/6

Please help me update my Verizon Note 4 by any means necessary. I can send $10 paypal

Hello, I am in a unique situation. I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 4 version N910VVRU1ANI1. I live internationally and I use the phone strictly for wifi. I have a Gear VR but cannot use it because I can't update. The update needs to be connected to Verizon LTE networks to update. I need to update this phone through any means necessary.I have tried using Kies and Verizon Upgrade assistant but it always says that the phone software is up to date. I think the method I will have to use is to flash it myself. Someone said this was possible but I do not know how to do it or where to download the update online. I am willing to send $10 paypal to any person who can show me how to update this phone or point me in the right direction to update it. I will also name my first child after you.
I am getting desperate. Thank you for any help you might give me. Let me know if you have any questions.
P.S.
A few more additional questions I would appreciate answered if anybody knows:
1) What is the best place to post this question? I also posted this on reddit.
2) What is the exact name of the update? So I can maybe search the internet for the download
3) Is there any hope for me to play Gear VR?
EDIT: Somebody on reddit helped me. The only question I still have is does anybody know when the update will be available for me to download and flash to my device? Thanks

Just keep your eyes peeled for the Odin files that people post on here. Once the updated version comes out, you can just flash your phone with it.
Hey man easiest way to update is to use Kies3. When I had Galaxy S4 sometimeago about 1.5 yrs ago.
I gave it as a gift to someone in Europe - Poland.
He couldn't update the S4 so I simply told him to download Kies3 and it will find the Verizon Update.
it works just fine so go ahead download it and if you have update take care of it
I did read you used kies already but make sure it's not in debugging mode as well .
If it's Kies3 it should work just fine..
:good::highfive:

T807t on 5.0 can I flash Turkish stock 6.0?

Hey there
I'm looking for stock marshmallow for our tmobile galaxy tab s on rooted stock 5.0 t807t.
The only marshmallow I see is for the t807a or the Turkish 6.0.1 for the t807 on sammobile.
What'll happen if I flash the Turkish 6.0.1 on this tmobile tablet?
If not Turkish, does anyone have any suggestions for something close-ish to stock?
Thanks In advance
A pity that often in forums to interesting questions, no replies follow. Unfortunately I cannot really contribute either except for essentially asking the same question.
I have the same tablet and would like to update it to Marshmallow but I am not sure whether the T807T version is technically the same as the non-T one.
Since your posting is already from several months ago - have you gone forward in the meantime and tried to flash it with that Turkish 6.0.1 firmware?
Same question
So funny,
No responses from my OP so I decide to give up.
2ish years later I ended up Googling about how to do this, taking another shot, and it brings me to the thread I created lol.
Right before I got back here I found a thread on lineage os that REQUIRES this SPECIFIC device (t807t) to be flashed stock 6.0.1 before proceeding with lineageos install.
Which to me brings me some hope that this old bird may have another go round.
I'm not the authority on lineageos, I don't actually know who maintans the wiki but check this out...
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/chagalllte/install
I'm Going to reach out to the guy who wrote that over at lineage Hopefully he can shed some light.
I wouldn't dare expect a Supreme xda mind to help with such a lowly request.
Yeah, "funny" as in dreadful irony.
I've already given up on seriously attempting to update this sadly orphaned tablet and considering that the most bothersome issue - the lack of any decent screen calibration - won't be addressed by Marshmallow either, it's probably not worth the trouble anyway.
At leastmy personal android update experience taught me that even if one or two things are a bit nicer or "better" in the new version, this often comes at the cost of at least the same amount of features not working anymore like they used to do before.
Same issue here. I had a proper 6.0.1 file for the t805w but now on updato all I get it a 5.0.2 firmware posing as a 6.0.1.
I flash it and still on LP.
does anyone know of anywhere where the proper 6.0.1 files are located. I'm registered on updato and sammobile amongst a few others I now regret registering on
