Galaxy nexus with Note / - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Will the Galaxy Note Stylus Pen work on Galaxy Nexus?
Has any one tested this, it would be cool if we could port some of the things for Note to Nexus.

Nope the stylus won't work with the nexus because it doesn't have the hardware components required for it to work.

You could just buy any generic capacitive pen. That will work, have no clue about the S-Pen tech however.
Regards.

No. The pen needs to be able to send signals for pressure and speed to the handset its self. It will draw and use the screen. But it won't use any s-pen tech
So it would be a very expensive stylus at £60 a pop

Tried it because my brother has a Note and it doesn't work at all. Our Gnex doesn't register any touches on the screen. As previously commented, you would have to get a different capacitive pen

Help me decide. Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note?

Getting a new AT&T phone on Tuesday and can't seem to pick between the Galaxy Note or the Galaxy S3. I know the specs for each and will be replacing the stock firmware with AOSP, so I'm pretty indifferent about stock software features. Tell me about your experiences with these phones and what you would recommend.

I have both while i love the notes screen size my s3 is smokin fast!! But the s3 seems a little small after having the note for months...they r both great phones the s pen is nice on the g note it all comes down to what ur looking for u cant go wrong either way!

can you wait until August 29?
Samsung will be * supposedly* announcing the Galaxy Note 2.
but if you can't wait. go with the S3. the Galaxy Note is almost a year old (but not for the US).
Thanks guys. If the Note 2 is announced soon, I'll still have 15 days to return my old one .

Just because they announce the Note 2 doesn't mean we will see it stateside for months.
I have both phones. Love them both but the SGSIII edges it out. I will probably make make the Note my phone for work to give a little more screen to read exchange mail, etc. on.

That's tough. I have both, the S3 is faster and the screen is crisper. But having that much realestate on the Note is so nice!
The S3 seems so tiny. lol
I honestly never understood the market for the Galaxy Note, I know everyone has different tastes and needs, yes it has a 5.3 inch screen and S-Pen, but seriously if screen size is such a major factor you might as well hold up a nexus 7 to your head..Least thats how I feel, the 4.8 on the S III i think is really pushing the limits when it comes to phones, beyond 5 I feel it might as well be a tablet...so personally I'd say the S III if you find that you like the note then wait for the Note 2 to come stateside.
The Note was a great phone but a tad bulky to be comfortable. I thought it was great at first but started missing the size of my skyrocket. There will be tons of accessories and development for the S3 as well.

i would still suggest to wait until August 29 to see what the Galaxy Note 2 will offer.
if it has the potential to offer a lot, i would get that phone. but if not, get the S3.
and there's also the re-stocking fee to keep in mind with if you decide to get a phone right away, then return it for a different device.
I'll be getting Gnote for now. Thank you everyone for you input.

Wierd sPen issue, Read on as it may affect you too

So here's the weird issue. I have an AT&T galaxy note and I have put the GT and 7100 image on it.
so I went a T Mobile store, and I played around with their galaxy note 2 on display. I pulled out my spen. And started writing on the display device. now I grabbed the spen from the display note to, and started writing on my own note and it doesn't work. So what gives.
so the SPen from the display note 2 does not work on my note but my sPen from my note works on the display note on T Mobile.
So what you're saying is that your sPen works, but the display model's sPen doesn't. ok?
Did the display model's sPen work on the display phone?
Does the sPen perhaps only work when there's not an sPen inside the device?
The sPen they use for display models around me are all fake ones. The reason I know is the little white tip is not movable basically a display model of an sPen.
OP You sure you didn't have your S-Pen inside your phone when you tried to write with the other one? there's some kind of power saving thing that turns off the Wacom digitizer when the pen is holstered.
The spen they had was what it come with the phone there was no tether. The display's sPen works on the display Note 2 but not mine.
While mine works on both my device and the display device.

Am I missing something? Your S-Pen works with your device and the T-Mobile floor model. The S-Pen from the floor model doesn't work with your device. Why do you (or should we) care as long as your S-Pen works? I have five S-Pens between my N2 and Note 10.1; all work equally well on either device. I don't care if an S-Pen I don't own or use works on my devices.
Recently I lost my spen so..I called Samsung and spoke to customer service and found out that the spens are different and function differently with each device (verizon spen wont work with att device)..and vice versa...Verizon spen has different functionality ?..I dont get it

This was the answer to the problem. There is a setting for the spen that needs to be unchecked so that you can can write on the screen even if an spen is in the silo.

For all the people here, the S pen is not just an ordinary capacitive stylus, rather its hardware is properly configured and hardcoded to work with the phone only. If you think you have an alternate truth, then prove it.

I thought that was compatible only with Apple.
Which devices is the Script compatible with?
From Adonit.net
The Jot Script is primarily designed with iOS devices in mind. There will be some limited functionality with other capacitive touch screen devices as well. However its features such as Pixelpointâ„¢*and palm rejection are currently only compatible with the iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini(both versions), and the iPhone 4s or newer.

S Pen is electromagnetic. The display itself generates an electrical field that senses the presence of the pen up to a half inch away. Samsung's apps (EG: S Note) are pen aware. Any third party stylus on a standard capacitive display registers as a really skinny finger, not a pen. There is no way to replicate Samsung's Note features on a device without an active display.

[Q] S-pen on Tab S

Has anyone tested samsung S-pen on the Galaxy Tab S ?
I really like the display and build quality of Tab S and Also like to use the advantages of the s-pen,So is this possible ?
Not possible.

Nope. Spen needs a tablet with wacom digitizer ie note 10.1 . Tough call as you say. I went for note 10.1 which is lovely just not oled. And of course no 4.4.2 in UK yet. Thanks samsung

[Q] note features in non-note devices

Hi,
I love the stylus featuers, and wondered if anyone has a clue of a custom rom that makes the spen usable in other phones such as galaxy or nexus.
with thanks

All of the Galaxy Note devices to my knowledge have an active Wacom digitizer. If a device does not have the digitizer the Spen will not work. Therefore it will not be ported to other devices.
