Damn drop box caught on - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So theoso creator of alot of those drop box increase in space mods was contacted. Drop box told him to stop creating these mods for increased space. They also said any space given as a result of these mods will be taken away. I guess time to download all your stuff just in case they actually do. I cannot link at the moment but if you look in the main page its under apps and games. ****ty

There was some reference to no free desktop interface I think? I have box but haven't really used it yet so I'm not sure.

That's what I meant by 100MB. I can't remember if it Box of Minus that only allows 100MB max per file which makes it impossible to upload these leaks and Touchwiz ROMs in general. I guess Miui and CM9 may BD possible if they are super slim

I personally use only Box now for all my phone stuff only: including all the Roms I've accumulated over time...There's an easy workaround for the 100MB thing: I just split my rom up after extracting with Root Explorer..For instance, with CM or AOSP roms, I just pull off the system apps, ans that usually gets me under 100MB right there. I just make a folder with each roms name for cloud storage, and make a quick little readme.txt file to remind me how to put it back together when I need it..(Larger, stockish Roms: same concept, just a little more separating. Where there's a will there's a way, I guess, and that free 50GB of storage was too hard to pass up: I still use dropbox too, but any .zip files are pretty much all going to my Box account.

Why not just make a split archive instead of extracting the contents and splitting it up?

Personally, because I do all this from my phone: I can use 7zip or winrar to do that, but I'm usually on my phone, not my pc, but yeah, if you're at your computer, halving the archive would be what's up.

Good. Dropbox is an amazingly generous company and it irritates when people steal from them.

I started with Dropbox but am now using Sugarsync- you get 5gigs and almost 6 if you do their orientation clicks.
I personally use both but like the way you can get more cloud space with Sugarsync.

Box.net (also .com now!) is 100mb/file now, but it used to be 1gb/file for free accounts. I have one if the latter but I find myself using dropbox more often at 28gb/100mb.
Maybe Tasker can split up archives and sync them on its own with the help of FolderSync...

I'd hardly say that glitch was stealing. Dropbox was offering the space for free, the glitch simply saved the user time, and the user & dropbox bandwidth. If anything, that was a benefit for dropbox (their bandwidth is not free), otherwise we all would have been recording videos with our phones staring out the window, upload to dropbox, and just as quickly deleted.

Better than Dropbox!

In case you don't already have it, Minus is like Dropbox but instead of 2GB of free space you get 10GB for free!
You can upgrade up to 50GB for free by sharing with friends (which is what I'm doing) for 1GB at a time for each person that joins through you.
If you would like to try it, please Sign up as it gets me more free space!
Android, iPhone, Windows, MacOS, and Linux supported
C'mon, give it a try...
No, but really I do think this is a pretty sweet app and I thought y'all might appreciate it.
EDIT:

According to their website:
"The size limit currently is 2 GB per file..."
Which is I admit a limitation of Minus, But even full feature movie files can be brought down to less than 2GB easily.

Yea, I saw that, weird. I got the same error from my W7 pc and my Mac. Oh well...
Found that if an upload is interrupted and I don't delete the partial file before trying to reupload I get the same error. That is the only way I have been able to get that message.
But after deleting the incomplete file it works fine again.
Hope that helps!

I like minus and dropbox both. One thing about minus, is it sorts the files into upload date, and you have to rename each one to make it more readable. I wish it was like dropbox in the sense that when you open the app it shows you nothing but files.

600 MB additional free storage
Hi all
Just found a smart way to increase your Dropbox account with 600 MB:
1 Sign into your existing Dropbox account (or create a new account)
2 Goto https://www.dropbox.com/free
3 Follow instructions ... and voila 600 MB additional free storage

Sharing files via torrents

We have all had to sit and wait for ungodly download speeds for some of these roms and other things. Sometimes the download links are broken. And no one likes dealing with those download sites like mega upload.
Why don't we, as a community, run torrents for all of these things?
I almost always have a computer running torrents, and I have a seedbox at work. I would be more than happy to run torrents for the different files we have around here - Roms, kernels, themes, other patches, etc.
I searched around and couldn't find anything about using torrents as a community, but I think it would be a good addition. Are there any drawbacks that I'm just not aware of?

I seeded a couple in the past in the Thunderbolt forum and only like 2 people even used them. I would ask the devs first that way they can link your torrent file in their threads.
That is probably a good idea. Those files will be paused until I get permission from the devs.
please do not host/mirror any of those files without the DEV consent
and even if you do get the DEV consent, the DEV him/herself should seed their own files only, using any of the publicly available torrent sites

Let me first say i am NOT trying to ruffle any feathers, just an honest question.
Why would it matter who ends up seeding them if given developer consent?
it's just the way how things are run in XDA, DEVs wants to have control over their own files, in case of crap happens
we do however allow recognize DEV's little helper if he/she publicly announces one

I suppose this could be the problem with torrents, once it's seeded by one and spread it always has potential to be seeding by anyone. Suppose 'Jon' links 'Tom' the torrent, Tom isnt too familiar so Jon installs the ROM for him but Tom never stops seeding. It's out of anyones control at that point.
Regardless, I understand you're point.

A) How long was my video?
B) Google restore has always been unreliable for me, works sometimes, doesn't others, and I really, reeeeaaaally don't want EVERY APP I ever installed....
C) At this point I see this more as a backup plan. No hassling with titanium making sure no cross-data makes it through, If I ever get bootlooped, I don't have to have to mess with CWM at all.
D) The PreLoader has a separate partition from system, it is also somewhat protected. I don't exactly know how, that's why I insist people not be reckless.

Dropbox?

Okay, so do we automatically get the free 50 gigs? Cause I just got an email form dropbox telling me to do these "5 steps" in order to get 48 gigs. Is that what they are talking about? or is this 5 step thing for an ADDITIONAL 48 gigs?
btw, this is my first time ever using dropbox.
Yes, but you can use it For only 24 months..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Hmm I never got such email.
Yes and Yes. you get the free space for 24 months. As for the steps, it is just DropBox trying to get you to learn about drop box, invite friends, etc. A good marketing ploy of things you need to do before they release the extra space.
Also, you get the email when you sign-up or sign-in to DropBox from your phone.
My Sprint GS3 had some kind of DropBox popup. I don't think I had to do anything with an email or follow any steps. I installed DropBox and BOOM I have about 50 gigs now all the sudden.
If you had a dropbox account already, chances are you stepped through the "5 steps" already when you first signed up, which means you should just get the extra space, and an email saying so.

If you get Folder Size Chart from Play Store it will show you the breakdown. This is mine:

Well hopefully you don't have to format again in the future. I use Folder Size Chart whenever my internal is getting low and go through and clear out the big items, its quite handy. I use a similar program on Windows when I have done a bit too much downloading and filled up the terabytes lol.

I like the graphical layout it uses and it lets you see what is the large stuff regardless of how deep its burried in a folder tree.
