[Q] HTC EVO One... Oh Cnet - HTC One X

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57407148-94/sprint-poised-to-unveil-htc-evo-one/
What does the xda community make of this?
This article is from today, btw.
Is this something to take serious?

I think so. It's just a rebramded designation for Sprint.

Interesting...
I was not expecting this.
So... the big news here is that ALL the evo users who are grandfathered into true unlimited data usage should keep their contracts... instead of switching to ATT's non-unlimited contract for One X
Am I correct?

Seen similar reports on several sites of the last day or so; looks almost like a standard rebranding of the One XL, except for the claims of an SD card slot and a bigger battery. The Android Central post also claims that it would have a kickstand built into the back. No idea how true any of it is (although I wouldn't mind that 2,650 mAh battery!).

Wowzers. Sprint wins, if that is the case for sure.
Though, SD-less phones are inevitable. Whether now or a year, or two years. It is the future to push for total cloud technology.

i tried to move to Sprint from Verizon after seeing 1x and no service too many times with no offer to credit my account, but Sprint was even worse. the phone i got from them wouldn't hold a signal for more than 1 hour at a time, then it had to be rebooted to get it back for another short time span. there may be cities with good Sprint service, but not mine. ATT doesn't have LTE here, but with a 2 GB limit i don't get how anyone could care.

i certainly hope ATT switches everyone back to unlimited data then.

2650 mAh battery... i cant believe HTC is doing this to the rest of world by putting a 1800mAh battery in the One X while giving sprint a 2650mAh battery.. excellent way to alienate the rest of the world like apple is doing..!

My first thought is that it doesn't make THAT much sense for HTC to change their lineup for Sprint. After all, sprint is pretty far behind AT&T and Verizon, and with the proposed changes, it's just a much better phone. Why wouldn't they do that with AT&T or the international version?
However, both versions of the Evo line has been really good, and especially the 4G pushed the limits and was the best phone available for quite a while.
I guess we'll see on April 4th.

Would creating a Special Sprint Version with a larger battery and SD card be a bad move for HTC? Or a wise move to make it more special than the One X for ATT?

Am I crazy...

Im considering leaving Verizon and my unlimited Data plan behind for AT&T. Am I crazy? I think of it like this.... We have more options with GSM. Google will sell the Nexus from now on for a no contract price cheaper than the stores. Verizon will probably never see another Nexus. If we like a phone that is ether not coming to the states or coming 6 months later we can still buy one.
Trading one tyrant for another.
Your call. I'd go contract free before doing such a thing.

You'll lose your unlimited Verizon plan when you "upgrade" your phone anyways... unless you buy full price.
So yeah personally I'm GSM all the way and I buy my phones full price anyways, and I use no contract T-Mobile. So up to you if you want.

Unless the coverage is poor in your area I would recommend T-Mobile over AT&T. AT&T is a rather awful carrier in more ways than I'd like to go into right now. Either way, while Verizon has incredible coverage I never recommend using a CDMA network of any kind, much less Verizon, but that is my own personal opinion.

Is this something that was just recently instated? I didn't buy my GN right away but when I upgraded I kept my Unlimited Data even though at the time they were selling 2gb/4gb/6gb packages.

Yes this is a recent change, it went into effect when shared data plans started (1-2 weeks ago)

GSM all the way. I much prefer the flexibility of SIM cards to..well..hard programming into the phone. There's something nice about being able to totally skip your carrier when you want to change phones.
For example, I got sick of my old HTC Legend. Even though I was only a year into my contract, I got a second hand Xperia Play, swap the sim, boom boom done. A year later I'm due for an upgrade and I'm not even sick of my phone. No matter, hello Nexus!

Yeah it's new. Came with the new shared everything plans. And apparently they're also going to start tacking on a 40 dollar per month service fee for smartphones as well. Really lame.
In my opinion, I'm really happy with ATT. Yeah they're more expensive than TMobile, but their coverage is damn good and my hspa+ speeds are actually faster than VZW's lte where I live. It really depends on your area. But I definitely suggest either ATT or TMobile purely for the gsm phones. Means you can use international versions as well.

Not disagreeing that shared plans suck, but the shared plan and fee go together. It isn't enforced on other plans.

When did it change? I remember when my American BF changed his phone a year or two ago (verizon) and he had to get them to reprogram the contacts because of lack of SIM. Sorry for the lack of knowledge here, I live in Canada.

With the addiiton of LTE devices, they brought in the SIMs as well.
Their EvDo devices are simless, but as far as I know, there will be no more new 3G devices brought out. At least this year.

Yeah I forgot about that. I haven't looked at the new pricing at all, just read articles about it. Do you by chance know if the shared plans are cheaper overall for say a family of 4 with smartphones on the shared plan vs an old plan where they all have like 30 per month individual data plans? Seems to me like it wouldn't be much of a stretch for a carrier to pull some BS like that nowadays. Haha.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus Update Response

After an e-mail to Verizon to complain about the treatment of the Galaxy Nexus, I actually received a response, so I thought I would share it here. The takeaway is that Verizon lists their policy for updates, blames Samsung and Google, and says there is no update in the works for the next month. Probably makes no difference, but couldn't hurt for everyone to also e-mail a complaint.
I am so sorry to read of your frustrations with Verizon and the lack of updates for the Galaxy Nexus. I definitely understand your annoyance with not getting the updates for it and no information available for the next update. I have a phone that feels like I waited forever to get it updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it drove me mad that there was not information about when it would be released.
Not only as a company but also as your personal Verizon representative we want to provide you with any and all information. We realize that cell phones have become our lifeline to communication whether it’s through apps, calls, text, or email; and want to match sure that your device has all the software updates to work. I reviewed Verizon Wireless New Software Upgrades to be released this month and there is no indication that there will be an update for the Nexus.
The updates that Verizon provides are for the sole purpose of enhancing the way the phone works and communicates with Verizon towers and network. When a software update is sent out in relation to the operating system, which is done so by the Manufacturer. The plans and action to update the software are done with either Google (Android developer) or my Samsung (User Interface developer).
We absolutely want you to have the most up to date software for your phone and if there is anything we can do to get that to you, we definitely will. Something that you can try to see if there is an update hanging around is going to:
• Settings
• About Phone
• System Updates
We appreciate your loyalty with Verizon Wireless through all these years, and certainly don’t want to see you go. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to go over this information with you.
with the 'leaked' Verizon update from Google's servers, I'm not in that big of a hurry. IMM76K was pulled from Google's servers long before Verizon pushed it. They're obviously working on it since we have a Google url for the jb update and it was sent to a test phone.
They are dicks at Verizon. They don't update phones and a lot of their phones don't function as well as their GSM counterparts. If you want to stay on their network you are going to have to deal with their garbage. You will never have a full Android experience on Verizon.
Going GSM unlocked was the best mobile decision I ever made. I am saving about $400 per year, I get updates and I am not locked to a carrier or its BS.
Straight Talk Sim Att may not have as good a network as Verizon, but its pretty darn close. Way worth it for me.

All I have to say is LOL!!!! Glad I did the 4.1.1 leak when it came out. I am starting to have flashbacks to my days with the Droid X. Luckily this is a Nexus and I have more control of my phone.
Having worked as a customer service rep for a tech company, this letter is what they trained us to do.
Step 1 - show you understand the customers complaint by repeating it back to them.
Step 2 - show the customer empathy by telling them you've faced a similar issue and can understand their frustration.
Step 3 - politely let the customer know we as a company care about them and want to resolve their issue. If the issue can be resolved, resolve it. If it can not be resolved explain to them we are working on said issue and it is not the fault of the company but some other company/factor.
Step 4 - thank the customer for their feedback. Let them know they've been heard and are a valued customer.
Step 5 - ask if there is anything else you can do for them. And wish them a nice day.
You can now all work in customer service.

Hate to break it to you guys, but Verizon will never be able to (or try to) update its phones as quickly as the update that comes directly from google to the GSM models. Sorry, but that's just how it's going to be. This isn't some big revelation. If you buy any Verizon device expecting hasty updates, you're sadly going to be disappointed. I'm really tired of people complaining about this at this point.
Also, do you really expect some random CS rep at Verizon to give you a different response than the standard corporate line that you've been fed over and over again? I mean really, cmon guys. You're just grasping at nothing at this point.
Root your phone. Install jellybean. Good to go. If you want something go get it and do it yourself. Also new radios are out.

Turns the iPhone is updated on Verizon with the rest of the iPhones. Even the LTE iPad is updated with the rest of the Apple products. So, possible yes, likely for anything else, probably not.
Nope, I got most of the result I expected from the Verizon rep and was just surprised at his exact words. I also thought it would be useful to share with other Verizon users that it doesn't appear to be coming in the next month either. I am actually sorry for positing it though. I thought I was sharing something useful. Clearly, I'm the only one that thought it was useful.
Again, rooting my phone does not work for me. I use two apps that check for root and do not work if rooted. One for work (no you can't use an app that hides root from it, that does not work) and one from my cable company. I have rooted an android phone in the past, and I know how to flash a phone. I know its asking a lot, but please do not post rooting as the answer again in this thread.
You just gotta drop Verizon. They are a joke. There phones are damaged and outdated before they even come out.

The Verizon Nexus will get every update that the GSM model has coming to it (as long as Google doesn't push an update that is solely meant for the GSM model)
You just have to wait a little longer.
That's the way it works. And in my opinion, it's a decent compromise to make vs the GSM model. With the LTE Nexus, you get the extra 16GB of internal storage, LTE data speeds, and the fact that you're on probably the best network in terms of voice coverage.
And being a Google supported and updated Nexus device, you will get all the updates you have coming to you (until Google decides to stop pushing them, ala the Nexus One).
It might take 3 weeks. It might take 3 months. But you'll get them. The traditional method of device updates, where the carrier requests an update from the OEM, the OEM builds a new version of Android for the device, customizes it with their own UI, adds their apps, tests it, sends it to the carrier where they add their own network and bloatware apps, tests it, sends it back to the OEM for additional testing...doesn't apply.
Keep in mind that updates for other devices are also only updated if the carrier feels it's worth the time and money, as usually they have to pay the OEM for the update. If a device sells poorly, or if the carrier just has a policy where they won't request major updates after a set period of time regardless if the international versions of the device are well updated....you won't be getting an update. This is one of T-Mobile's business practices and why I left them after being a customer since their very beginning. The Samsung Vibrant I had was the only Galaxy S device in the world to never be updated to Gingerbread, and that's because only 5 months after the phone came out, they re-released it with a front facing camera and support for their 42Mbps network. Those were the only two changes as it was the same exact phone otherwise. After 8 months of the Vibrant's release, it was EOLed and never went past Froyo.
Look, Verizon so far as had two devices that Google is in charge of updating direct from AOSP...the Xoom and the Galaxy Nexus. The Xoom had gotten every single incremental Honeycomb update that the WiFi model received. It got ICS, albeit after a bit of a delay. The LTE Nexus, mind you, was the first to get 4.0.2 right out of the gate, and it also received 4.0.4, after a bit of a delay as well. Looking at it another way, both the LTE Xoom (which didn't sell very well) and the GNex have already gotten more updates than most devices do in their typical 2-year lifespan.
Looking at it objectively, all things considering, it's really not as bad as people are making it out to be. It's not like the carrier is refusing to keep the device updated. It's not like the OEM has to go through hoops to keep the device updated. Both devices are and will continue to be extremely well-supported by Google. You just have to wait a little longer than their GSM counterparts. And also keep in mind, official Google builds of both devices get leaked early all of the time. So, there's that.
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but LTE cuts your battery life in half, makes the phone thicker, and so far the LTE Nexus is 2 months behind the actual "Nexus". I wouldn't count on an update being in Verizons immediate plans. They could care less. And how many LTE Nexi have been sent back because of broken parts compared to the Google Play one. I learned to love Android again after I left Verizon, because they were ruining the entire experience for me.
Verizon does have its merits, but they are not worth all crap you have to go through with them. Verizon has the best coverage no doubt about it, but ST-Att coverage is still pretty good, just a little slower. I have had 1 dropped call and 1 data drop out in farm country in past 4 months. There is absolutely no reason to choose Verizon unless it is the absolute last and only choice one has for a mobile provider, which is probably only about 5% of the people in the country.

LTE does not cut your battery life "In half". That's a lie, or an opinion, either way it's wrong. On average (From what I have read) GSM GNexus users get around 3 1/2 hours of screen on usage, while I get about 3 with my LTE GNexus on Verizon. We could do more tests, but I bet you would rather just bash it some more.
I believe both GSM and LTE Nexus have both had a plethora of issues, to point out one but not the other is silly.
Android is the same on either phone, stock Android. It didn't change when you switched over.
I have never had a dropped call on my Gnexus (Had it since December), and only 1 or 2 data drops.
Verizon offers me unlimited data, at 20mb down, and 10mb up for $45. They have coverage damn near everywhere I go, and have always given me great customer service. Of all the bad things I have heard about the other three, I am glad to be on Verizon and have the chance to own a Nexus device through them, and I hope they offer another as I will be more than happy to buy that one too.
Sorry to hijack a bit OP but got tired of the baseless bashing.

Ok I guess I was misinformed about the battery. Didn't know you could get 3 hrs screen on time. We can get more like 4 on GSM. The GSM Nexus doesn't have a plethora of issues, just yellow screen and horrible camera that all Nexi have. Android is not the same on the VZW one because the GSM one is on a newer version and is updated. Granted, wonderful things can be done with root. One selling point of a Nexus is speedy updates, and the VZW doesn't get them.
20mb down is great but most people have to use tiered data on Verizon's now, so that means nothing. And I pay $45 total for unlimited everything (2-3gbs data) on Atts network with Straight Talk, Not $90-$100 for cell service bound to a 2 year contract.
I am not trying to start an argument. I am just trying to let people know that there are much much better options out there than contracts and Verizon, even if Verizon tries to trick you into believing that they are the only "reliable" network or option.
Verizon also has had huge problems with the newer batch of nexus phones they put out. We get tons at work with signal cutting out on them. Verizon probably is trying to fix that before an update or then people will be really mad if it doesn't fix the signal issue.
All in all its Verizon trying to cover themselves as long as they possibly can.

[Q] What's your next phone?

So, I am currently in the market for a new phone because I am sick of how HTC treats their customers. I was wondering if you guys thought jumping on the Galaxy Nexus would still be a good idea even though the Sg3 is out.
The Sg3 looks amazing, but it is kind of out of my price range with the average price being $400. I have found a few Nexus' anywhere from $200-250 which is more my style. The thing that worries me though is that it is already close to a year old and I know the minute I purchase one the next greatest phone will be out.
Does anyone know when the next Nexus phone will be out? I am due for an upgrade around March, but would really like to jump to a 4g phone before then.
What do you guys think? Stay with the inc2, grab a Nexus, or just wait until I can get something with my upgrade?
Any ideas?
I've had an upgrade since July I was going to get the sg3 but when I found out it was dual core it turned me off BC I was stoked for quad. Then I was going to get the inc4g, but I hate sense and I'm tired of HTC. I was close to getting the gnex on Saturday for $50 from best buy, but like you said its already a year old plus the 5mp camera is kinda iffy for me especially since the og Inc had an 8mp back in 2010! I'm going to wait for the galaxy note 2 coming out soon 1.6 quad core 2gigs ram super HD amoled running JB
I was considering a SG3 as well, or the GNEX, but I am currently satisfied with the Inc2 at the moment and will way my options when I am ready for a new device. I am curious if anyone has tested out any of these phones and had any opinions as well. I have not "upgraded" since they got away from unlimited data, so I am still grandfathered in and not sure if I will sign a new contract or just purchase the phone. The 4g is not a big issue with me as Big Red has not brought it to our area yet, and probably wont see it anytime soon.
Maybe I will wait for the Note 2 as well. My friend has the SG3 and the screen on it is beautiful. The one thing about the Note which I am unsure about is the stylus. I don't know how I feel about that. It's not like that is a big deal breaker for me, just something I'm unsure about. I have had 4g in my area since it has been released, for the most part, so I def want to go 4g. I am worried I will lose my unlimited, which is why I was starting to look for 4g now.
Samsung does make a great looking phone though. Colors are so vibrant on them. When the Note 2 comes out, is it supposed to be better than SG3 or is that phone still going to be considered the best?

It's not HTC's fault. They already gave the OTA to vzw a while ago. It's big red's fault for not releasing the goddamn update already because they need to bloat the **** out of it before they can be satisfied.

The stylus to me is just an accessory. You can function the phone without it. If I use my upgrade I will lose unlimited, but I'm only using 1.3 gigs a month. Not to mention my $200 phone bill and 2 unused phone lines. So upgrading will cancel unlimited data but I'll be saving $100+ dollars a month with my military discount. There's no real reason to use 4gig+ of data so I wouldn't worry about losing unlimited. Unlimited data users probably are getting throttled anyway. The note 2 is going to be a supercharged s3. Check out the specs on both http://www.autoomobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-note-2-vs-s3-4/1003595/
My only problem is whether to stay on Verizon or not. The Verizon version of the note2 is going to have the Verizon brand on the home button! I can't believe that. I'm super satisfied with my inc2 only BC I rooted. But the lack of ota is troubling. This phone isn't that old

Do you know of a way to check the actual data usage without calling up Verizon? I also just did watch a few videos of the Note 2 being used and all I can say is WOW. This phone looks like it is going to be a pure beast. Also, you are right about the stylus being an accessory. After watching this video with it in use, I think I completely changed my opinion on it.
This is the video I just watched:

Edit: Damn, I can't figure out how to embed the video so it isn't just a link.

I only have 2 options for cellular service, Verizon or Cell One because I live in a small town. I have been with Verizon since probably 2004, switching from Sprint when I lived in Atlanta GA. I have never had an issue with them as far as service quality, prices are a bit high but I will pay for them as long as I have good service. As for the Inc 2 I will probably use it for another year or so before I consider switching, unless something happens to it before then. I have only been using mine for about 3 months or so and paid $75 for it from an acquaintance of mine that upgraded to the RazrMaxx.

I am from New Jersey love the service I get from Verizon. I have yet to go someplace that doesn't give me great service (unless I'm in a basement with no windows or something similar). As for other services, I have just about everything you can find in my area and from having friends I pretty much see everyone leave all other to come to Verizon. AT&T is the only one that can compete with Verizon in my area, but the only people I know that have that service is the Iphone users. For $75 you can't go wrong with this phone. It is def a great phone and aside from the lack of updates and no 4g that is my only complaint.
Nitsua, you say Big Red has the OTA and I have heard that before also, but how true is it? Is Verizon keeping the OTA secret because they are bloating it up or do they actually not have it? We may never know the truth until it is either released or they come out and say that the OTA will not be coming. Of course, I hope it comes, but I feel myself slowly getting sick and tired of the wait, especially since they promised up end of Aug. and now we are a week from October.
Yes, They have been late on phones before, but from my research, this is the longest they have gone after missing a date which really angers me towards both HTC and Verizon.

Verizon has it. How else would you guys have your ics leak . They have to perfect it though and make sure that there are no bugs. Also since it's an older device that not many people have, they are setting their focus on other phones.

I'm not too bothered by not getting the ICS OTA honestly. There are plenty of ICS ROMs that are functional enough for me to use. I'll just stick it out until I can upgrade in July, 2013 and either upgrade or switch carriers. Who knows what phones will be out by then?

Play store has a VZW app for usage.
I have a droid bionic just sittin here. I may use that, but with that remote phone wipe hack I may just forget about it.The hack doesn't seem to affect the INC2.
my upgrade isn't till may. Depending on the inc4g, i will purchase it if its s-off. Otherwise, I think i'll be getting the SGSIII. My next phone has to be unlocked someway.
I'm really diggin the xperia phones. And it looks like most of them are getting ics in the next couple weeks. The ion is free on the us sony site.
Depends what's out by August 2013

TMobile No Longer Carries HTC 10

Anyone know why Tmobile stopped carrying the HTC 10?
Due to the enormous failure of the m9 from last year and poor sales, tmobile stopped carrying htc devices in store. And now it seems they dont even carry them at all. Due to poor demand and low sales.

I figured as much. Thanks.
I highly doubt that lol. Sounds like a comment left by a samsung boy or samsung employee. This happened a while back it disappeared off their web site due to being out of stock then went back on. If you want to order one call tmobile and I"am sure you can place an order on the phone. And from what I know personally that tmobile stores are small so they may not carry many heck my area of Ohio does not even have a tmobile store for 50 miles because they basically have no service here in this area.

Actually no, I am an HTC fan. I have the m9 and m10. And low sales and low demand ARE the reason tmobile does not carry htc devices in store. Per several tmobile employees. I also live in Ohio and had to order mine online. Hopefully with the success of the 10, tmobile will start to carry them in store again.
Lol no. T-Mobile said it was a glitch and are looking to put it back on the site. Nothing to do with sale figures....no need to spread rumors.

They are likely just getting small amounts, they have been in limited quantities since launch often showing as back order with 8+ week shipping estimates. About two weeks back they popped back up showing as in stock and I was able to grab one, probably pulled the website listing when sold out. There may be a very small amount reserved for telesales department and worth the try if you really want one.

I've contacted both T-Mobile and HTC neither has a true answer. I reached out to head guy of T-Mobile and said he is unsure why. My guess is due to a possible manufacturing problem they couldn't keep up. T-Mobile didn't remove stock from stores they just never received a new shipment. There are several stores near me that has them.
I just got my HTC 10 from T Mobile last week. Online store. Traded my S7 Edge for it.

I doubt its poor sales or demand. I was trying to grab one from BestBuy yesterday, instore because their site is sold out, and the rep said they have zero at the warehouse and no BestBuy in Michigan or the five surrounding states have any in stock.
I saw him searching through the computer and the inventory everywhere was all zeros. They took so long to get them in I stopped checking for awhile and now they all dried up.
For the record, I need to purchase it via BestBuy credit which is why I was trying to go there.

I dont feel like replying to all of u so here goes.
First, If the website had a "glitch" dont you think they would fix it already? we are talking about a multi million dollars corporation not a mom and pop phone company. The news you reported regarding a "glitch" happen on july 20th, its august 7th now...so yea 17+ days and no fix?
Second, if the phone was low in stock they would still have the phone as an options, it would just be label as "back ordered", which highly unlikely since Samsung and Apple never ran into that problem when the phone has been out for several months.
Third, are you really surprise that the sales are bad? I mean cmon, this has been going on for years! you gotta be blind to not see it, HTC been losing money since HTC M7 and M8. all you gotta do is Google HTC stock ticker or Google HTC sales figures.
Fourth, I'm not a "sammy" fanboy as I do own an HTC 10 (I still do, I'm using it now till my S7 edge come back from repairs) and I did own an HTC one M8 as well as HTC HD2 and several other HTC product. I also own samsung, sony, apple and other phones. If you call people a Sammy fanboy then honestly what does that make you?
P.s be careful who you listen to in this thread, Lots of HTC employees in here. Cant blame them, if my jobs were on the line I would spread lies too.
I reached out to them asking if they were still selling it and if they planned to continue supporting the device with updates and got a response of:
"Hey Bill I hear you! I did some research with our teams here and I was not able to find anything indicating that we will not be supporting the HTC 10 It is currtently out of stock on our site, but we are planning on having it available again. We do not have any information yet when it will be available in stock again for order. Thanks again for checking with us on this! Let me know if there is anything else that I can take care of for you! *TimothyR"
I will say it's a bit concerning if they do get rid of it like this (like the Sony Xperia Z3 disappearing very unceremoniously from T-Mobile's site), we may also see no further updates of firmware, etc for the T-Mobile HTC 10 either, as I seem to remember them discontinuing updates on the Z3 after they stopped carrying that as well.
Only reason I am skeptical to believe them is that I've never seen a device that is "out of stock" just stop showing up on their site altogether. Usually it says "out of stock" with either a release time expected or "unknown"...

I can make my own assumption as well and negate what T-Mobile officially said regarding their site.
What if nobody bought it from T-Mobile because they instead bought it from HTC directly. Let's face it, what is the point of paying full price from T-Mobile when you can just buy it from HTC which comes with uh-oh. It's not like T-Mobile has any contract prices (subsidie) or promotions other than Jump anyway. It was available on HTC.com before T-Mobile anyways. Maybe T-Mobile knew that it couldn't really compete so that's why it included a few charger and case?

Your every day average consumer will purchase the device directly from their carrier and the thought of buying directly from the manufacturer never even crosses their mind. Furthermore, by purchasing from the carrier you are able to make payments and, like you mentioned, you're paying the same price anyway... would you rather pay ~$28/mo for 2 years or ~$700 all at once?

They both offer monthly installments. So maybe people shouldn't make assumptions and just pay attention to the facts, which was given by T-Mobile? I mean, what goes to show whose assumptions are correct when we don't have any facts for the matter?
The point I was making (and why I made that post) was what makes my assumptions any less credible than others who also make "claims" without knowing the actual, real reason.
Main point is: Be helpful and provide information when you know facts instead of misleading through assumptions. What if they buy an alternative to the 10 based on what was said, later to find out it was a glitch as they said. Now someone's assumption just costed that person several hundred dollars. I like to be considerate of others, especially when it comes to financial choices.

I don't see anything about making payments from HTC unless you're talking about PayPal Credit for which you'll pay interest on if you don't pay it off in a year rather than 2 years through the carrier.

You should not be spreading rumors as your just guessing and you have no facts to support one word of what you said so everything you said was 0% based on facts so you cant say this was due to low sales. And this whole thread should be deleted because its a statement saying tmobile stopped selling the Htc 10 and not saying I think they might have. When you list something like that your saying its true then you should have the facts to back it up and that documentation was not provided as until it is then it does not exist and is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor.

Low sales of HTC 10

Was the selling price set too high?

What is your documented source that Htc 10 sales are low ? And low compared to what ? And you get what you pay for, compared to an S7 the prices are more than fair when you figure you get an unlocked bootloader and you get one year of free UH OH protection ask samsung if they will give you a warranty like that and they will just laugh so yes you get what you pay for.

I assume this would be related to T-Mobile apparently dropping the HTC 10 from their stores.
No big tech advantage to its competitors, insufficient marketing budget, heavily relies on outsourcing components (higher cost). Now even their software is fading its charm.

Most run the same 820 processor so they all pretty much have no tech advantage over any other competitor. Yes some have a lot bigger marketing budget and yes too many people fall for advertising gimmicks and blindly purchase without making an informed decision on which item is a better purchase meaning faster and if your on xda that pretty much means a better phone for you would be one comes unlocked and has a good dev following. They all outsource components yes one makes processors and their own screens probably because they make tv's, but they also used the 820 processor also the same exact one as the Htc 10 in their flagship phone here in the USA. On the software part Google has fine tuned so many things that the stock google apps work fine and it makes no sense ie yes sense lol to put double the apps lol. And people prefer a cleaner Google experience such as Motorola has and now Htc has skimmed back too, most people like that the Htc sense is cleaner and more lean now over the past versions. I have had a new model of Htc phone every year ever since the Evo 4g came out and I think as many do that their software is just as smooth as butter.

Especially since people have posted about this on another xda forum on the 5th
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/tmobile-longer-carries-htc-10-t3433653
which was 6 days before these reports even came out, so those were rumors.
I could expect such poor business decisions from a company like tmobile. They are no better than sprint both lie about coverage they do not even have, even sprint has better coverage than tmobile here in Ohio. I have to go 20 miles to get any signal from tmobile and I"am on an Ohio state route highway. Tmobile had the cheap thing to steal customers which they are no longer the cheapest since prepaid verizon mvno's have stepped up like Total wireless which uses verizon towers and offers Unl talk & text with 5 gigs of verizon Lte data for $35 a month with extra data able to be purchased, or Straight talk get Unl talk & text with 10 gigs of verizon Lte data for $55 a month and these are all verizon towers not tmobiles go 20 miles to get signal.
This is just sad because Htc makes good phones and too many people are blind sheep drinking the Koolaid fed to them by samsung and apple. Maybe we will get lucky and Google will buy Htc. I think selling off Motorola was a mistake so maybe they can save Htc.

They either had no source or they even used reddit (LOL). To be honest, those sites have a bunch of so-called "journalists" or "editor" that just copy and paste anything that they read from another site to make some sort of publicity.

That was my thinking also I just didnt say anything. I would not call then reputable sources. The stupid part of it is that tmobile took them off their web site a while back and said they were just out of stock. So who knows, maybe someone that talk to tmobile customer service directly and asked can chime in, apparently tmobile going by what happened before has no clue what they are doing.

They either had no source or they even used reddit (LOL). To be honest, those sites have a bunch of so-called "journalists" or "editor" that just copy and paste anything that they read from another site to make some sort of publicity.

Fell in love when I first saw the HTC 10. It's a piece of fine jewelry and is a pleasure to use. Bought it from Verizon when it was first offered. Paid US $545 ($645 retail price less $100 special promo). At that time HTC web site was offering the 10 for $699. Yes, price does make a difference.

Yep. In Canada, only one carrier has it (not mine), so I bought the unlocked version. $999 CAD +tax and $10 delivery = $1130.08 CAD
I would say that would put people off from buying it in Canada, unless you happen to be on the Bell network, and can get it subsidized on a new plan.

That's a much better source. Looks like they don't have the inventory to meet online demands. Odd for the editor to put a misleading title and have contradictory information in their article as it says they still are selling them in their stores. -_-

Rumor has it that HTC will be manufacturing the upcoming Google Nexus phones code named Sailfish and Marlin. This will probably uncut what remaining demand that exists for the 10.

Of course they are still selling it in stores.........................................................................until they run out of stock.
LOL
Should they just throw the unsold phones into the trash?
EDIT: quoted from that article
"The HTC 10 has been pulled from T-Mobile’s online offerings and T-Mobile staff have confirmed that no more stock will be delivered to brick and mortar stores."

Yet, their "source" says they do not have inventory to support online orders. Nothing about "The HTC 10 has been pulled from T-Mobile’s online offerings and T-Mobile staff have confirmed that no more stock will be delivered to brick and mortar stores."
That's the contradictory element of the article I was referring to, which was in the same comment you quoted.
I find it important to read an article and look at it's reference to see how reliable it is. It's not a good idea to just read an article and take their word for it just because they check marked the "include source(s)" box on their editor guidelines. Especially when it comes to phone tech. Phone tech news have, by far, the worst "editorial" pieces I have ever seen, it's quite embarrassing.

Amen brother you hit the nail right on the head. Until I see it on the majors news and from quite a bit more reputable sources then I will take it with a grain of salt until then, because if this were true then it would be all over the news and not just on questionable sites that do not have the reputation for having creditable news ie like cnn, cnbc, and so on. Not just sites that mostly do rumors on phone tech due out where they confuse reality with fantasy...

If this were the case they would still have them on their web site to sell off their remaining stock correct ? So that blows a big hole in your theory about just selling off stock in stores also the store stock might go back to their warehouses most likely to be sold off on their web site possibly at a discount to clear them out. So them being off the web site and still in stores makes it sound more like a supply issue and tmobile is out of stock again on their web site just as they were before then went back up on their web site for sale when they were back in stock as this just happened a while back so its very likely it happened again. And since this was never on any major news networks yes it could just be rumors.

Possibly but its also possible that they wont as many people like sd card slots and Google likes to shoot themselves in the foot and deliberately leave out features that most other flagship phones have which is stupid but yes people like to use sd cards and Google does not care so we will see how many want to give up sd card slots to get a new Nexus, and sales of Nexus devices have never been that substantial. But reports rumors that is list that the Sailfish the S1 has speeds that surpass the new note 7 due out so maybe the Nexus devices will hurt samsung note 7 and s7 sales just as possible.

Couldnt you have bought a new unlocked version on Ebay or another retailer at a discount ? Or is the conversion from CAD to USD going to make it just as much ?

Laugh My A** OFFFFFF!!!!!
Do you really think CNN is going to do a report on something like this?
Do you think HTC is still that big a company that if a carrier doesn't stock it, they'll do a feature?
Did they do a big story about how AT&T wasn't going to carry the 10?
You are adorable.
They aren't shipping them because their warehouses are empty of them.
They are still in SOME stores because it is leftover stock. They will sell those and that will be it.
It is painfully obvious from the link I provided. Which also had the reporter calling T-Mobile and having them confirm, plus screenshots of a twitter conversation with T-Mo where the same was confirmed.
Here's something simple for you. Call T-Mo yourself, and ask them.
The way you and @richii0207 are denying facts and sticking to your guns makes me believe that you are probably voting for Trump come November

Its news if its true as I"am sure some would cover it just because some want to be naive and drink the Kool-aid these rinky dink so called Journalist on these rumor sites want to post. Most Journalist would call them hacks or bottom feeders that regurgitate any rumors that they hear and the others just following thinking gee if those guys published that than we can too lol they are a joke and anyone that believes them is naive.
And omg I never said do a feature lol you really like to blow things out of proportion just to aid to your own ego like omg buddy are you for real lol.
And the At&t not carrying the 10 was all over not just on a few hack rumor sites lol you are just too ridiculous lol.
If they had stopped selling them the stores would send the stock back I know retail and business lol the stores would be the first to lose stock lol the web site would stay with them for sale until they are gone because web site sales gives the highest return as there are less wages involved that is why most carriers have better deals on phones on their web sites such as verizon you might save $100 on their web site over buying even in a corporate store I have saved a lot more myself buying off their web site over their corporate stores and dealers are even higher.
Gee and why did tmobile remove them from their web site then put back up after back in stock that is legitimately documented on the net and from more than hack rumor web sites.
Once again your talking about a reporter on a hack rumor based web site not any kind of legit news site what so ever.
I"am not calling tmobile why dont you as I would never use their 3rd rate service that you have to go 20 plus miles to get their signal on an Ohio state route highway that is a joke lol. I pay less for verizon coverage than what they charge lol.
And no your the sheep that would vote for trump as he is a pompus a** and only likes to brag about how much hes worth when he filed for bankruptcy how many times causing tax payers to lose millions on casinos that he filed on then he turns around and opens more casinos lol. Hes a joke and has a bad temper and he wants to cut taxes on businesses which makes himself and other rich people more money lol yes he has his own best interests at heart lol. He claims to want to cut down on jobs going out of country but on david letterman years ago he showed his products he sells and letterman brought up they were made in China and other countries he just shrugged his shoulders lol. He changes his views by the minute on what he thinks people want to hear lol. He even called rosey odonell a fat pig right in public forum so no I would never support a fake self important pompus a** like trump.
