[Q] Interest in a Senseless ROM? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys! I've had an Evo for a while and I was just wondering whether anyone would be interested in a senseless ROM. I run it on my own phone but I have never shared it. Just leave me some feedback please!

Not trying to burst bubbles or anything, but there are already some senseless roms here. Share if ya want, though. Thanks. Good luck.

Hook it up
running MikG v.3.11/ ICS themed with the badass Underworld kernel.

Probably 75% of the people in this forum are running AOSP instead of Sense.

I prefer senseless over aosp. What is the base?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA

The base is Stock Swag and it includes the stock gingerbread launcher with SMS instead of browser. I could make an Xperia version including the Sony Sound tweaks and launcher.

throw it up on the wire and let's see it. we can always use more choice.

As long as you can invert the pull down menu to black with 15% transparency I'm game. I use adw so launcher doesn't matter cause it will be removed

It runs VERY smooth and battery life is amazing, skype should work as it's a stock rom.

CM7 is the best gingerbread rom out there right now IMO. Very stable, loads of options.

What do you mean it's not stock? It's wholly stock, except for the part in Settings > CyanogenMod Settings, which a lot of people hold near and dear to their hearts. Otherwise, it's the fastest and most stable Gingerbread build -- nay, ROM -- that I've ever used on my Droid Incredible, even in it's Nightly Build state.
CM7 is 'stock'. I'd say the only thing making it not stock is ADW which can be removed with some basic stuff.

I dont get why cm7 would use adw and not just the stock launcher. That bugs me. But ive always hated adw.

I agree. I just download the stock Gingerbread launcher from the market and delete ADW. Works great with CM7.
Or learn how to compile source.

Why does everyone automatically say well learn to do it yourself? I asked a simple question about the launcher. I figured maybe I'd be told its customizable or something.

I don't even understand source much less can I build from it. I was just saying I don't understand why they use adw. I was looking for someone with a reason like well you can change setting by going to _____ menu. Or something like that.

I honestly wish for a stock gb launcher too but CM7 doesn't have that by default. Your only choice is OMGB which is you know...
Sent from God, who uses CM7.
I've been running the C7 nightlies for a while and love them - What's different in the "stock launcher" rather then ADW? I'm not trolling just curious.
Yea I run OMFGB.
You could always do what i do and just download the roms you want pieces of and pull the pieces and put them into yours. Like download cm7 and omgb and put the omgb launcher into cm7

I ran an early build of OMBG and liked it but it was not stable enough to use as a daily driver at that point - I just don't remember what the differences were between it's launcher and ADW.
I installed omfgb today and then installed adw as i prefer 5 icons in my bar. I will install cm7 #28 asap tonite as omfgb just doesnt "feel" as stable.

Themes for stock EC05??

Hey is there a theme that will work for the stock EC05?? Just curious. I actually like the stock ROM and how I have everything set up. Im just wondering if there was any theme that would work on it. I do not want to be the test/crash dummy so if anyone knows if one works would be very helpful. Thanks in advanced.
The first thing you need is to run a deodex version of ec05 because you can't theme a stock rom. I have two themes that work on ec05, froyo crystalline and giger. Fucshia fusion too if your a fan of pink!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
This is probably a really stupid question, but is there a deodexed version of stock EC05 available?
I just upgraded to EC05 and getting WAY better battery life than I was with EB13, but I am getting sick of the stock ROM, most specifically the stock lockscreen.
Thanks for any help!

Hey Dream,
Not sure if you know but the link in your sig is broken. I am new to this so could you explain what part of theming requires you to be deodexed? I am wondering because I recently started screwing around with changing the icons. Just curious to know what my limitations are and when being deodexed becomes a requirement or what benefits you get from being deodexed. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Me too! I'm happy with the stock rom, its giving me better battery life than the few custom rom's I've tried.
I'm easily getting 20 hours on stock rom where I was getting no more than 10-12 hours on a custom rom, with all the same settings.
I miss the aosp gingerbread theme!
I am using launcher pro so I don't have to deal with touchwiz, but I miss the aosp lockscreen and transparent notification pull down and blacked out notification bar
Yeah I agree with most of you. I am getting GREAT battery life. I am not experiencing the TWS bug or anything. My TWS is always at 0% when I check it. And my battery life is the best that I have ever had on this phone. I do not want a custom ROM..But would like a deodexed version of the stock ROM so I can use themes. Anyone feeling generous enough to make it happen for all of us?? Pwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaase!!!!
Well, I agree. I find myself venturing off and trying custom roms, but I always seem to go back to stock for reliability. I just cant seem to find a rom that just works as well as stock. I would also like to see a deodexed version of stock.
If I could ultimately choose a perfect setup it would be Stock, deodexed, zipaligned, No carrier iq, kernel wired tether support, and TV-OUT.

[Q] Rosies question

I see all these different Rosie set ups and I am confused as to if they are all interchangeable or not. I am currently on Koni's S3 but I do not see much on different Rosies, most post are for Myns or Miks.
Thank you
I asked TommyTomatoe about this recently. He said all of the should world (not the z based roms rosies). I haven't tested them out yet though. He said that the ones for Kings rom will definitely work
Sent from "The EVO" using XDA Premium
Keep in mind that those mods are specific to the rom they were made for. Still, you can use them however, because the framework is involved, you may end up changing more than just the rosie. For example, I flashed a gingerbread rosie made for Myn's RLS5 while I was using a rooted deodexed stock rom and although I did get the gingerbread rosie, my theme had changed among other things to that of RLS5.

Well, I guess my next question is; where do I find the bar to do it myself?

Download the theme or ROM that has the bar that you like. You will find it in system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-port-hdpi. good luck and may the force be with you.
BTW if your ROM has landscape you will need /drawable-land-hdpi as well.

[ROM][7/11/2011] Virtuous G-Lite v1.0.3 :: Gingerbread AOSP HTC/G2 base 2.13.531.8

G-Lite is a departure from other Virtuous ROMs in that it is effectively AOSP and designed to be lightweight, yet functional. If you find yourself discarding most of the features of Sense in favor of specific apps of your preference, this ROM is for you. Don't expect anything too fancy.
Features
Supported on the G2 and DesireZ only.
Minimalistic, lightweight ROM with +200MB of memory free at startup.
Extremely battery efficient (best of any G2/DZ ROM I have used to date).
Based on Vision_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.13.531.8, which is effectively AOSP.
All device hardware fully functional, including wifi, bluetooth, camera, camcorder, etc.
Kernel 2.6.35.10 Vision Gingerbread kernel. Do NOT use AOSP kernels with this ROM (i.e. Pershoot, Cyanogen).
Market-sourced applications (Gmail, Maps, Voice, etc) automatically installed on first boot into /data/app for easy removal.
Basic visual enhancements to notification bar, icons and pulldown menus to eliminate green indicators in favor of white.
Replaced stock Gingerbread launcher with LauncherPro.
Wifi calling and Swype conditionally installed for T-Mobile USA users. If your carrier licenses Swype for your DZ, let me know and I will adjust the installer.
Bloatware and unnecessary applications removed.
Additional notifications and ringtones added from Sense.
Massive APNS list.
Rooted, deodexed and zipaligned (should be assumed with all ROMs but people ask so I mention it anyway).

Users of this ROM are welcome and encouraged to assist one another in this thread. However, support from the development team will not be offered here. For that, please visit our official forums.

I am in the exact same boat, down to the ROM and everything. I love everything about CleanGB except I'd like to have more lockscreen functions (especially camera!).
Widgetlocker is great because you can customize it down to the last inch, but I didn't like the idle resource and battery drain. Same with the Magic Locker ICS theme (which is great because it has calls and SMS notification counts built in, and it's free). But both are simply apps that float on top.
Until there's an ICS style lock that I can zip into, I guess I'll go back to the stock touchwiz. Thanks Kenny.

Widgetlocker uses 5-6mb of ram and does not affect performance or battery. That's less ram than swype and just barely more than vvm.

May have to try out the widgetlocker, but would rather have a straightup lockscreen. I don't understand why it couldn't be ported over, though.

Aha. I found out why it seemed to be draining the battery faster. I've been using juice defender to cut 3G when the screen is off. The problem is that JD won't recognize these apps as a true screenlock, so it doesn't turn off 3G.
I recently bought tasker so I'll try learning how to use that for controlling connectivity instead.
-tory
I hear tasker> jd. In fact I hear all around jd is junk. Even used it myself once and it definitely did nothing to help.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I'm happy with my setup your happy with yours. It's all good.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Well, JD worked well enough for me to notice a drastic difference in my battery idle. With the JD inactivated and 3G hooked up, I would drain 4-5% per hour at idle. Cutting idle 3G made for a much nicer 1% per hour.
Tasker is much more controllable. Now I have it set up so that only apps that require data turn on 3G when activated. This is great because JD only toggled connectivity with the screen status. Now I can use the camera, text, or play games without 3G turning on at all. There is a 2 second lag for switching on 3G that I usually have to refresh for, but the kill speed after exiting is instantaneous. Great program.
Don't mean to hijack, I know this is moving away from the OP's (and my) question. Let's hear it for a baked-in ICS lock coming soon!
