[Q] USB port fried, can't ODIN. Need to flash stock ROM from stock recovery? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So I kept getting the "Charging Paused. Voltage too high" error pop up, my USB port wont connect to Odin via PC. So I used Mobile Odin to flash stock EL29 .tar, that sent it in to a bootloop. So know I'm stuck with stock recovery and can't boot into a working ROM. I need a stock unrooted update.zip?

I don't think one exists but I could be wrong.
do you have kies installed? did you try a factory reset in stock recovery?

Yeah I tried all of that. Since I can't connect over USB, I used Mobile Odin to flash a stock .tar. Something went wrong, I can tell it half flashed because it loops at the Sprint boot screen. All I can do is get in to stock Android Recovery and Download mode, which is useless since I can't connect to Odin.

Go into stock recovery and factory reset and reboot

Thank you for your advice, but no dice. Think it was a bad flash to start.

Have you tried just a recovery, and not the whole rom? Is it your phone or comp throwing the flag?

If none of that works just bring it into a store and tell them that its stuck in a bootloop. They will try to see what they can do and if they cant fix it they will order an AE. Free if you have TEP, $35 if you dont.

So I used Odin v1.3 to push stock froyo 2.2 ec05 that works fine .. I rerooted using super oneclick still fine then I go into clockwork to flash aosp magic original v0.4.1 successfully intsalled I reboot and it hung on the Samsung logo so I rebooted same .... so I back into download used Odin again to try to go back to the stock used before ... but it fails .. so I unplug pull battery and now I'm at this screen
I've searched everywhere under the sun and found very little
Ive tried different firmwares trough Odin
I get it back into cwm flash a different firmware and it says it successfully installs but when I reboot ... still that screen comes up
I've formatted everything available in cwm reflashed and no go if anyone could please help I would greatly appreciate it

Not bricked unless it acts like there is no battery...in other words dead. Go here and try the first couple of posts...the second deals with Heimdall. All the things to try are in there like Odin with no battery, different cable, different port:

Are you powering down and 3 fingering into recovery? I guess you have to at this point. You can't restore a nand backup from recovery? Odin with the thread I posted for you or Heimdall works better.
Alright ill try heimdall and let you know what's what

Should work for you. You will need to grab 7Zip to seperate a tar into the different components for Heimdall.
I would like to thank you guys for all the ideas given seems like the fix was to use a different USB port and I feel like a knumb skull for not thinking of that but I guess I just assumed because the phone was showing in Odin the USB port was not the issue .. and that was not the case .. thanks again!!

Recovery issue..I think?

I had the regular cwm recovery, flashed the touch version, been working fine. But tonight when doing a nand backup it failed at the cache backup. I couldn't get back into recovery mode, the closest I got was download mode(not Odin) I was having problems rebooting my phone, it started going into car mode. I downloaded cwm again from the market and was finally able to get back into recovery. Tried flashing a Rom, rebooted and the screen lit up black and that's it. Took me many tried to get into the recovery again, finally did a nand restore, and it was all flickering car mode rapidly. I can't get back into the recovery still, only download mode.

That doesn't sound good. Have you tried ODINing to TWRP or the non touch recovery?

totally confused. Download is Odin... you get into this when you're connected to the PC and do the volume buttons + power.
to get into recovery make sure you're not connected to a PC.
When it goes into this mode it says download mode. Odin mode said Odin mode..

download mode is odin mode you cant do odin unless you are in download mode. i am confused? what do you mean odin says odin download says download. i think i know what you mean but just asking if you know odin is download mode not to say you are a noob.
Before when I would use Odin, my phone would say Odin. Yesterday it would only say download, after flashing twrp touch it seems fine.

I had this issues once before, turned out to be the kernel causing the issue. Did you change your kernel since the last time you backed it up?
Nah I haven't messed with any kernel on this phone just Roms. I think cwm got all frigged up and something happened.

[Q] Phone stuck on Samsung boot after stock restore help?

Hey my samsung galaxy s3 was bricked when I tried installing a kernal for a jb rom and I restored it to stock in odin.
Right now its just stuck on the Samsung Boot logo and the blue led is shown but it wont boot up. What do i do?
Reflash. By chance, can you get into recovery?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
No, not at all. When i hold volume up + power + home it vibrates twice and turns off and does the same thing when I hold it which makes it turn on. I can get to download mode though

Use the ota in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895100
It's lg1 then just accept the ota after you do it to get to lh9.
Sounds like you just flashed a bad ota.

Ok i have an AT&T galaxy s3 so i just download the Calg1 and then download a Bell image and follow the instructions?

Ok so ive finished the installation of the CALH1 on odin but my phone is still on the boot logo. What do i do now?
Not lh1 here:
Flash this in odin: http://d-h.st/u2B <<< AT&T lg1
Thats the image i used to get back to stock with root. After that flashes the system will boot and say there is an update if you want the latest os then install rootkeeper from play store and run it that will preserve root. Once you run rootkeeper accept the update and that will get you to lh9 the latest os.

No, not yet i cant really get into clockwork recovery at all if you read my post above. I got into this whole mess by flashing a kernal on a jb rom whe i was rooted and i probably shouldnt have because it bricked my phone. But ive done almost everthing above and now im willing to do anything to get my phone back up and running. Will flashing the kernal for it fix it?
Yes, if you can find a way to enter download mode flash a stock rooted kernel and a stock ROM. You may need a jig to enter download mode

I can enter download mode without a problem all i need is the kernal you said which would possibly fix my phone.
The lg1 update i gave you has the boot.img (kernel) with it. It is everything, boot.img, system, modem, etc. Sounds bad but are you sure you are using odin correctly ?

Yes I think so, i run odin with administator tick auto reboot and F. Reset time click PDA and located the root69.stock_ATT_I747UCALG1.tar (the old boot img you gave me) and connect my phone while it is in downloading mode and press start. Is that right?
You need to find a way to wipe

Can you even do that on a bricked phone? Is there a program I can do it through? I can't load my clockwork recovery at all.
Did you try the toolkit?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Hope this helps. I had a similar issue once where the phone gets stuck at the Samsung logo. What I did was booted into stock recovery and did a wipe cache and wipe data. The phone booted up successfully after that.
U can also flash CMW through ODIN and do all the wipes (dalvik, cache and data) and I'm pretty sure ur phone will boot up.

My GS3 is really having problems.

I took my stock GSIII and rooted and installed hyperdrive, but texting was really awful, and battery was bad so I proceeded to reinstall. Didn't work. So I flashed one of the rooted stock firmwares from the root no tripping flash counter thread. Now its worse. i cant get in to the app drawer it always just says that android.core or something like that has stopped and proceeds to kick me out. At this point I am done and just want to have rooted stock then use triangle away and then flash pure stock and end up with a good warranty, pure stock phone, any help?
Did you wipe your cache/data factory reset every time you flashed?

Yeah...
repeat the process: wipe data and cache in recovery then boot into download mode. flash the correct stock firmware via odin with "auto reboot" unchecked. when you get a "pass", pull the battery. reinsert the battery and immediately press the recovery button combo. once in, wipe data and cache again. reboot. report back.

Phone Won't Boot

Hello. My friend gave me his phone to try and fix, and it won't boot past the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo. I tried going into recovery, and factory reseting, but no dice. The little android guy in the background of the recovery is dead (lol) when I first get into the recovery. It isn't rooted btw. I tried flashing a custom recovery, but no luck.
I had a similar issue but my phone was rooted. I flashed clock work mod and wiped data a few times. Have you tried putting the phone into download mode then flashing stock firmware?
