[Q] Screen remains static when keyboard is slid in - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi
I bought a new RHOD100 and am running Stock WinMo 6.5. First few days the phone worked beautiful. But about a week of usage landed me in this condition.
The screen only lights up with the keyboard is out and not tilted. Other than that, if it's slid in (portrait mode) or when it is tilted up, the screen freezes to whatever it was like when the keyboard was slid out. The touch functions work, I can hear screen tap sounds, and if I click on the right icon things open and close too, but the display remains frozen until I slide out the keyboard and/or undo the tilt.
Any ideas how to fix this? Is that hardware or software?
I have never dropped it, nor exaggerated the tilting.. Can it be the Flex cable?

Definitely hardware... almost 99.99999999% sure this issue is hardware.
I'm betting it is indeed the flex cable. If you're feeling brave, you can attempt to take the phone apart and see if you can find the issue - keep in mind, this is very delicate and tedious work. Need a steady/careful hand and a lot of space! Good tools help too .

White screen, cable problems, unusable BA... Please help!! Thank you!

Hi all! I hope I'm not disturbing here, but I'm quite desperate with regards to my poor BA... After replacing the display about a year ago (the touch-sensitive layer had broken) everything was going well, but something bad has been happening for some months now, and I think it has come to the point of no-return...
At first, when I slid the BA open, there would be a point in which a change in the colors on the display happened, as if the the Red and Blue channels worked well while the Green one was dim (as noticeable during the boot process). Then, opening it completely, it came back to the normal state. The situation worsened, sort of "interference" could be seen while opening the BA, the touchscreen would lose calibration after some openings and closings and so on...
Now the worst: when I turn it on, the screen is completely blank and white; sliding it back and forth would once get it to work, but now it is completely useless. About halfway between the open and closed positions the backlight itself turns off and then on again. It is impossible to see anything and it is unusable!! I opened the BA and made sure everything was connected, I re-connected the LCD and the touchscreen cable but nothing changed... I don't know what to do...
Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I try to repair it or to have it repaired, or, as it is a bit visibly used, should I resign myself to saying it goodbye?? Thanks for your patience and help...
News!! I rried to replace the new screen with the old (broken touchscreen) one, and that one works. Save for a problem, the green colour is lightly dim in the exact positions in which the backlight goes off with the "new" but not working display... Does anyone have an explanation for this behaviour? Thanx again!!

Phone display keeps coming on during calls

Has anyone noticed their phone likes to turn itself on during phone calls as the phone touches your head?
I thought that could be fixed with Advanced Configuration Tool and these options:
◦Phone sleep during call
◦Fast sleep during call
But they both are gone. They were there on my Kaiser. Any ideas?
It's supposed to turn off due to the proximity sensor. I'm using a T-Mobile USA TP2 and it turns off as it touches my ear. One way you can test this, if you haven't already, is to call a phone, then as it is in progress, lay the phone with the screen up, and put your finger across the top of the facade of the phone (cover the top area where the earpiece is). When I do that, in order to replicate my ear towards the phone, the proximity sensor blanks the screen.
As for the AC tool settings you mentioned, I've never touched those, so mine are on the default settings.
Hey, wow! You're right! When the device is against my ear, the display is out. As soon as I pull it away, even slightly, it turns it on!
I'm simple, I know. My wife tells me that all the time.

It's okay, when I first got my TP2, I encountered the same thing you thought was a problem. Then I saw a video online demonstrating proximity sensors and the guy on the video put his finger along the top/speaker area of the device and the screen turned off. I replicated his actions on my TP2 and realized that the proximity sensor activates when something is touching it or gets fairly close to it. BTW, we're all simple; we just excel in different ways!
LOL, me and the wife learning this stuff too. Hey, heres another (which i just created a post for), GO rub a magnet on the face of the phone while the screen is OFF, right over the tiny keypad. If you have a soft case with magnet in the flat, go see the funky result

Well since I'm already here and I don't want to search for that post (sorry to the Mods since this is irrelevant for this thread), I can answer that too. It's already a well-known issue. The magnet tricks the phone into thinking either the keyboard and/or the stylus is being opened/taken out. However, it is more accepted that the phone is being tricked into the keyboard being opened. There's a registry edit posted on these forums that can fix that, but the downside is if you want the screen to turn on when the keyboard opens, it will no longer turn on without having to press the screen wake-up button.
I'm just using the Slide2Unlock v.204 for WVGA devices. It keeps the phone locked even if the screen turns on. When I slide my phone into my magnet-clasped holster, it sometimes turns on. It's just a habit for me now to check the screen once it's in the holster, so I can turn the screen off if it woke up by itself.

[Q] TocuhFlo3D problem!

Hi! I have a big problem with my Rhodium.
I have post another similar thread before but aybody seems to respoding..
I don't know what happened to my phone.
The touchflo3D seems to not responding. in other words the screen reacts when I tap on it, but I can't move or select anything on the screen.
I don't understand if it's a software or hardware problem.
The problem born with a custom rom I installed.
R [WWE|GER|FRA|ITA|NLD] |Feb 12| Energy™-.¸¸.·´¯ 6.5|21916 / 6.5.X|28244 * Sense 2021
after few days of no problem, the screen became as I described, incapable to select anything.
I tried also to move to the settings to disactivate sense but it was impossible with only the keyboard.
I searched on the forum for the solution, but the methods proposed didn't resolve the problem!
So I decided to return to the ufficial Rom.
RUU_Rhodium_HTC_ITA_1.19.408.1_Radio_Rhodium_3.44. 25.27_Signed_Ship
I performed a HardReset before the reinstall of the ufficial rom, but the problem remained.
So I performed a task29, but after the reinstall nothing changed and the TouchFlo seem to be broken.
I followed the guides proposed but I don't think I commited something wrong...
I suppose is a problem of the software because, I repeat, the screen react to my tap when is in minimum light.
Please help me because I don't know whato to do...
Tnx to All!!!!
Is the issue *only* with Touchflo? Can you tap on the Start menu and bring it up?
I'm confused as to why you say "the screen reacts when I tap on it, but I can't move or select anything on the screen"
How can you tell if the screen reacts?

Hi! No I can't tap on the start menù and when I tap on any icon on the screen nothing happens!
What I meant with "the screen seems to react" is that (sorry for my English XD!) before the screen goes black, the light goes high to low, ok?
when the screen has low light, and I tap on the screen, the light goes to high, so it seems that the screen can react to my tap.
tnk you very much for your response.
If I wasn't capable to explain correctly, please tell me 'cause I'm a little worried for my phone!
Bye.
i don't want to bring down any hope left, but if it does not respond to anything you do, i think your phone has just lost its flat cable. It might be broken and fixing it up would be a total pain. I would bring it back to where you bought it. Contact me through pm for further details, if u're still wondering what does this mean.

This sounds either like a broken / damaged ribbon cable (the "flat cable" the previous poster was referring to) or a damaged / broken digitizer.
On my old phone, the digitizer slowly broke - first the accuracy of the touchscreen would slide, then it got to the point where it wouldn't register 'on screen' at all, even though the phone could still tell I was tapping the screen because the backlight would come on etc, just as you describe.
Replacing the digitizer will cost money, but if you're going to do that find someone good at doing it! And also consider getting the device checked out and replacing the ribbon cable too, it's probably one of the most vulnerable parts of the device so it can never hurt to be overly cautious and replace both of them. Unfortunately there's always a cost involved
Let us know how you get on...
Hi the cable is not the only thing that can couse your screen to not respond, ive seen a tp2 that stoped responding because IT captured humidity in the digitizer screen, you can tell if this is the case by mooving your phone under the sun light and you will notice a kind of rainbow loking transparente spot, this humidity causes the digitizer screen to get stuck, the Solution can be to let it dry in the sun, or to rub it jently against your leg, the fricción can help to dry out the humidity, hope IT helps.
Search on here "tp2 screen not responding"
There is a thread on here I found about the screen not responding, and cleaning around the chrome edge with something thin, carefully, (I used my fingernail, which worked, but I lifted the contact too much down by the buttons on the bottom of screen). Worked for me and a few others. Good luck.

Display Graphic problem

I've got a problem with a OneX I'm trialling for work.
This is a stock device with the latest OTA update applied. I installed Good for Enterprise, activated it, and got my work emails. I opened a PDF attachment which opened for a couple of seconds then the display glitched.
The attached images show what I mean. The display is glitched for every screen. Soft resetting the phone was okay until it started again a couple of minutes later.
Soft resetting a 2nd time was where my real problems started. The phone vibrated as it started, but the display stayed dark. If I tap the power, the touch buttons light up. If I go through the motions of the lock ring and my gesture lock, I feel vibrations of my actions but can't see a thing. If I ring the phone, it rings, the touch buttons light up and the LED blinks. The display stays dark at all times.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? It's almost like when a graphic card overheats in a PC.
I would try a hard reset, see what that does, it should fix it as it looks like software problem
Squeeze your phone between thumb and forefinger (on the screen and rear cover) about 1.5-2cm in from the USB port, and slightly below. Let us know if the screen comes back on.

I think your phone is on drugs.
Seriously though, that's the scariest gfx bug I've seen on a phone.
Work were just as surprised as everyone else.
It's been sent back to them so they can talk with Vodafone about just what's happened with it.
In the few days I had it, it's a decent phone. The primary reason for considering the OneX is the screen size, and the fact you can read a PDF clearly on it.

Mine looks exactly the same once Ive had a few whisky's...
I had the exact same problem, so I shipped off my phone to service.
They actually changed the whole motherboard. I got my phone back 2 days ago, and it is working better than ever. Even better than before they changed the board.
My guess; Same problem as me. Busted motherboard. Im waiting to get a reply from the service guys that fixed my phone, so I can get some solid answers about what was actually wrong.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Sebastian

Quick screen 'taps' register as 'drags' after screen replacement

Hi everyone.
I have recently had my screen replaced. After playing around, i quickly noticed that my keyboard screws up when i start typing.
The faster i type, the worse the problem is.
I checked touch response times and achieves normal times of about 60ms, however, i turned on touch overlay in developer settings and noticed that if i touch opposite sides of the screen quickly (to simulate typing), it would draw lines between the touches as if i was dragging between the two points.
This is what causes my keyboard to do funky stuff and heavily lag when typing fast.
Please note that this never happened before the screen replacement, and a hard reset didnt fix the problem.
Is there any software fix for this, or do i need another screen?
thanks.

I mainly work on iPhones, but it sounds like your digitizer is out of calibration. Don't know if there's a software fix for it, but hopefully this will point you in the right direction. Also I'd take it back to the place you had it repaired and see if they can fix if it's still warrantied.
