[Q] slide to answer galaxy nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hi,
can't seem to find a solution to this via search since not sure what to call it.
this screen when the phone rings and you have go grab that thing in the middle and slide it in one direction or the other.....how do i replace it with almost anything else? can't stand it. at least if you could see before you grab that center thing which direction you are supposed to pull the thing.
i'm rooted and using liquid rom.
thanks

Uhh. Once you do it once, you know which way to go. Don't see the issue there lol. Do you get fumbled by the stock lockscreen too? Forget which way is camera and which way is unlock? Cmon...
I'm sure there are ways to replace it.

anyone helpful out there?

What exactly are you looking for it to do?
Gingerbread had slide right to answer, slide left to effectively stop the ringer and send the caller to voicemail.
ICS has the exact same functionality, and looks much more polished doing so in my opinion.
But I am curious, what is it you want to happen/see?

basically looking for just buttons to push...nothing to slide.
a couple things about me that the first smart*** "helper" didn't care to take into consideration.. just insult me...and thank you for that by the way! 1) i don't get very many calls. i mostly just use this thing as a computer so when i do get a call i don't always remember very well which way i will need to pull that slider and 2) i have 2 conditions in my hands which don't always allow me to "hang onto" that slider thing.
since, i found an app called "EZ button" which has 3 buttons that are displayed on screen when the phone rings. you either push the buttons or hold for a couple seconds. SO FAR...it seems to work in ICS/Liquid though it doesn't really mention being ICS compatible.
i will try out ACG as the prior poster metioned. i tried initially but it didn't appreciate that i have ads blocked so i have to edit the hosts file....in time.

EZ Answer looks like it does what you want it to do and more. It incorporates all of the other 'EZ' applications that cost 99 cents into one for I guess a good deal of $1.99.
EZTouch on its own looks like the standalone product you are looking for.
and
EZButton seems like another standalone product that does what you want to do, but also incorporates your volume buttons to answer by speaker or regularly.
Now whether each work for ICS and particularly this phone, I don't know. I see that you already tried 'EZ Button' so I'm guessing all will work, but I'm not 100% on that.
Good Luck.

wake up phone using home, menu, trackball, back or search button possible?

Having to stretch my finger to the power button at the top of the phone is annoying , was wondering if its possible to wake up phone using any of the buttons above...
Thanks in advance.
I already posted a thread on this. As it's my only real gripe with this phone. However there seems no solution YET. Someone suggested flyscreen but that was a full lockscreen replacement. Not what i wanted.

Actually there is 3 threads on this now haha. No problem they are all called something different. I think this feature will be a major demand in a custom rom which isn't too far away

You could always use the Android SDK to take screenshots. Go HERE.
I've been using drocap2, it works pretty well. You just click start, navigate to where you want to take a screenshot, then shake the phone. Stores the files in /sdcard/drocap.
I use "ShootMe" works the same as described above. Leave it running in the background, just shake the phone to take the screen shot. Saves it on the SD card.
Not really sure why you don't like shootme? Launch and shake..doesn't get much simpler than that really.

Yeah I also use ShootMe and its perfect.
Haven't tried shootme, but drocap2 works great for me. Always running in the background, customizable activation methods (shake, timer, or notification bar). I use notification bar. Pull the shade down, hit drocap2, wait a few seconds, screen shot taken and saved to its own folder on the sdcard.
Thank You
Shootme works great Thank you for the suggestion!!! Loving it
shootme is great except it makes a camera noise every time you take a screenshot which is annoying and sometimes embarrassing if you're playing with your phone while in a public restroom.

You can turn it off. Click the little speaker icon on the "Accept or Reject" screen.
Anyone else having any problems after the OTA update?
I can no longer use ShootMe or dropcap They were both listed for rooted devices only, but they worked prior to the update. Now, neither works.... Anyone have any suggestions??

That's because the OTA update fixed the giant security hole that allowed some programs that required root (like ShootMe) be fully usable while unrooted.

Record my dreams

Hi, i'm searching for an app to record my dreaming's words. I would like it to record only when someone talks, is there any chance to find something useful to me?
haha i know what you mean! a voice recorder activated by voice so we dont have 6 hours of audio to look through
The only thing I could find while sniffing around was an app that does sound triggered recording, but only by dialing your voicemail number and recording it to that.
Sounds like a simple enough app to write though, perhaps there's a sympathetic Dev out there that could knock up an app for you.
Lol nice idea is there anythin out there like this? Please let us know if ya can find somethin worth to try

I know what you mean.
My mother will telling me that I can answer her questions when I am asleep, but I can never remember doing that.
What you could do is just use a recorder, and record everything during your sleep. Then copy that sound file to your PC and use cool edit to open it, and look through the sound waves. When you see some big spikes on the waves go to them and see if youre saying anything. Might be kinda creepy though, who knows what kind of sounds you'll pick up lol
RL Watcher , it's in the Market.
That said, not too sure if the microphone is going to be good enough (Thanks to Samsungs settings, background sound is noisy!).
Maybe you should change your Title a bit to attract attention. You are looking at an app that can switch on the voice recording when the decibel level increases beyond pre-defined level.
Any ideas?
PS : This can be helpful in a lot of other situations too. You just need to know the minimum decibel level.
Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.
I can access your mind through your dreams using my Android.
I have done a little RnD and made a little progress.
Whenever there is a sound a number is incremented per second of sound.
It works with my galaxy S mic very well.
THERE IS NO INTERFACE AT ALL
I want you to test it.
There is no fear of any harm.
The screen stays on as long as the app is active.
But as you may or may not know a black screen on the SGS is an off screen.
The way to work the app is
Install the app.
Set the phone down on your table/nightstand.
Open the app
Don't click anything
Go to sleep (you don't really need to sleep just speak in intervals in a moderately quiet room/simulate your bed room/simulate your sleep voice)
Hopefully make noise in your sleep. Not very loud noise is needed.
Wake up
Press the menu key...you may have to wait a fraction of a sec.
A notification will give you 2 numbers.
Tell me those numbers.(You can round off NO 2 if you want to)
If first number is > 1 then you are successful else not successful.
EXIT THE APP WITH THE BACK BUTTON
If you exit with another way then you may have to restart the phone to get your mic working fine again(stupid mic implementation of mic on SGS).
Test it and tell me how it goes.
Can the wake screen be like NoLED? No really waking a partner, especially a treasured one?

I don't know what you mean. I've not used noled
Its a kind of a lazy onscreen logo floating around that if you have thrown the phone in a corner of your bed, wake up to pee, come back & know that yea, I have received this & that.

I don't know about that for now.
The app is still in its alpha stage.
We can keep it in a proposed list of features.
Right now the app only lists number of seconds you have been making noise.
The SGS has a weird implementation of AudioRecoding
I am still going through the docs.
Once I manage to implement the recorder, more features will be added.
Please reply with the values you are getting from the app.
Thanks
Gonna test the app now
EDIT: Crashes immediatly on Cyanogen Mod

how to swap soft keys!?!?!?!

Hi all,
I've looked everywhere and I can't be the only one who wants this.....
Is there not a way to swap the placement of the back key ala LG G2? It's driving me nuts and is the only thing that is keeping this phone from being perfect (for me) can ANYONE please lend a helping hand?
Thanks

This was the first thing I noticed coming form the LG G2 as well, and haven't found a way yet. Why would they put the back button all the way to the left, it is driving me crazy as it is the most used button!

I can't believe there isn't a way to create the same thing that LG has done for this phone. All manufactures should offer this. It's not like HTC didn't "borrow" the knock feature so this shouldn't be a stretch....
I don't get it. I've used Android for years and this is how it is on every device other than Samsung phones. I would just get used to it. Odds are you'll have to anyway in the future.

Never!!!! Lol, I hate that its on the left side. I hold my phone mostly in my right hand and hate how I now need to stretch my hand across to back arrow. This is one area I really do believe Samsung got it right. It's more natural on the right side of the phone. Even if you strongly disagree , at least do what LG has done and give me the option to make it how I want it. If I want to be told how something should be without the option to change it I may as well have a iPhone!

I don't think this app allows you to change the placement of the soft keys does it? I don't see anything in the description that implies that, more meant to just hide the keys.

Yeah, it replaces the nav bar and let's you choose between a bunch of other different themed nav bars. I just can't get it to work without its quickbar feature/autohide.

Incoming call notification very small

Anyone knows how can I change incoming call notification popup to something better/bigger like all other phones use ?
Can't add picture but it looks like on this video (sorry can't post links - (Google youtube video "MIUI 12 Incoming call"), but imagine that popup window is all black so you can barely distinguish it from background and recognize that 'buttons' to answer or reject call.
It makes especially big problem when I am driving and using navigation. It's may be danger to look closely on screen to read who is calling and trying to hit small buttons with your finger. This is the only phone which doesn't have dedicated popup window for incoming calls, just use regular like all other notifications. Even Pixel phone, which use same Google Dialer, has normal one with two big green/red buttons.

you can try to use another dialer app e.g. drupe, true caller, or any other app you like and make it your default.

Yes, I know that in one solution but I thought that MIUI can't be so badly designed and there is solution within that system.

After you mentioned this for some reason it started bothering me too ?and was searching for a way to do it, with zero luck though.
I will recommend to try out Xiaomi.EU Rom, it's quite better than the global one.

I always wandered why almost nobody is bothered by this, now I am grateful I have soul mate in this
I have considered Xiaomi.Eu but I can't mess with my phone that much since it's not mine, but I have got it in my workplace.
