[One X][RECOVERY] DooMRecovery (CWM-based recovery) [Rel: BETA1] {Dt.: 05/April} - HTC One X

DooMRecovery for HTC One X is based on ClockworkMod recovery source (GB 5.0.2.x).
Credits and special thanks to Koush and everyone else involved in Cyanogenmod project!
[ info ]
so friends i present to u DooMRecovery! its based on CWM 5.0.2.x sources... i have done some additions which i feel makes the recovery a lot smarter... i am still working on the recovery and will be actively maintaining it, so there will be updates as and when i get things working/add new features...
THE RECOVERY IS STILL WORK IN PROGRESS
so till i get the "not working" things sorted i though i should release a public beta... so here it is...
THE RECOVERY IS COMPATIBLE WITH ROM MANAGER!
Start the ROM Manager APP
Click on Menu (3-dots)
Select Manual Flash Override
Click OK at the next prompt
Confirm phone model as "HTC One X"
Confirm version as "ClockworkMod 3.x+"
Click OK at the next prompt
thats it ROM Manager is now configured to use this recovery
[ not yet working / TO DO ]
ADB (the ICS kernel has a different USB gadget, i working on triggering the adb/mass storage mode)
USB mass storage mounting (i have the correct LUN file but this can only function once the above USB gadget issue is resolved)
flashing of kernels using update.zip (not really sure what causing this, but restore of kernel works, from previous backups)
Touch functionality (the sources i have were ment for GB branch, we will begin work on ICS branch to get touch response working)
when we get it working this is how it will look:
(the video is a bit older one from my Xperia Play but gives u an idea how its supposed to work when full touch capability works)
Touch capabilities are added by my teammate (Team UtterChaos) Napstar....
[ disabled for this device ]
Advanced Menu -> Key Test
Advanced Menu -> Partition SDcard
[ credits / special thanks ]
Koush - for the brilliant work & coding on CWM recovery
Napstar - for doing most of the work on Touch capabilities for CWM recovery (not fully implemented it)
Frosty666 for the Vibration triggers
paulobrien - for the Interim ClockworkMod Touch Recovery, i am using a modified version of his ramdisk
[ features ]
Honeycomb themed
haptic feedback
shows current time (time when the recovery was entered/started)
uses new Roboto FONT (from latest CWM repo)
new "select update.zip menu": it will give u a new option - "show file details" - which will display the size (in bytes) and the MD5SUM of the selected file
when any update.zip is selected its complete file name will now be displayed (right at the top) and full path to that file will be printed before flashing begins
added prompt to display the "backup folder name" when user starts restoring a backup
added a warning and option to abort backup if space on sdcard is < 150 MB
removed Wipe cache partition from main menu (u can format /cache from "Mounts & Storage" menu)
removed those tons of "No"s
add confirmation to "backup" option in Nandroid menu... it used to keep getting pressed by mistake and start making backups immediately... now it will ask u before starting backup
replaced "reboot system now" with new menu "reboot options"... now with this new menu u can:
reboot sytem
reboot into recovery
reboot into fastboot mode
Power Off
added "advanced backup" menu (based on amit.bagaria implementations for his CF-Root kernel for SGS-SL)
now u can selectively choose which partitions to backup
its like a toggle
once u have finished choosing which partitions u want just click on "perform backup" and only those partitions will be backed up!!!
revamped layout for recovery menu (to improve navigation) [renamed few options and changed their order]
changed "wipe data/factory reset" option to just "factory reset", and detailed the partitions which will be wiped
changed text of most menus to fit the new honeycomb inspired design
the Nandroid backups & restore now show/displays which files were used to restore/what the backup is called (folder name)

Very nice, it makes me happy to see all that work for the One X
It seems to be possible having a MIUI rom installed on mine soon
Thank you for your job !

Congrats buddy, it looks awesome.
Now CWM, DooMRecovery and 4EXT (later)!
This will be a difficult decision, I was always a fan of 4EXT but I'm impressed of this one now.

I need usb storage, delete all of the SD and now I can not get anything, please help ....

p.s. lets not spam dev thread

I know the first rule of XDA is not to ask for ETA's.. so I won't
However, I will ask if there's any progress on UMS? Major issue for some people getting stuck with no booting OS and no backup on internal memory - can't get anything onto the phone to be able to recover it.

I really dislike typing out ADB commands. I'm sure some of you feel the same. This program combines some of the most common tasks we perform with ADB and automates them for you.
Where is Recovery Flasher?
All the features are built into this program. I have decided to expand this program's functionality.
Features Explained
Flash ROM - Place a ROM in the 'ROM' folder renamed rom.zip. Hit enter and the zip will get flashed to your phone automatically
Flash Recovery - Will help you flash a recovery to your phone. For the Optimus V users, it will help you install all the needed drivers as well as obtain root privileges. Optimus T, S, and One phones will be able to flash a recovery.
Wipe dalvik-cache - Self explanatory .
Mount /system r/w - Allows read/write access to /system
Push ROM to SD card - Self explanatory (pushes to root of sd)
Push framework-res.apk - Pushes framework-res.apk to /framework, wipes dalvik-cache, and reboots the phone for you.
Push bootanimation.zip - Will remove boot animation and replace with one of your choice. (removes from /data/local as well as /system/media)
Reboot - Reboot
Reboot into Recovery - Obv.
Recoveries
CWMA v1.2518.4 for V and S
drellisdee's Recovery for T and One (thread with dl link will open automatically)
Recovery Instructions
- Download
- Unzip the folder somewhere (desktop is easy)
- Double click RecoveryFlasher.exe
- Choose 'flash recovery'
- Place your phone in debug mode >setting>applications>development>USB debugging
- Choose what you want to do
- Follow the prompts and hit "any" key when told
- Your phone will reboot into the recovery for you, and from there you can mount your sdcard and transfer a new ROM to flash. Or even easier, use the new "Flash ROM to phone" feature
You're responsible for your own actions Mr. Sister

FAQ
Can I use this with a different recovery?
-Yes. Any recovery can be used for the supported devices.
-To use an alternate recovery for the V or S, rename the new recovery to vrecovery.img and replace the 'vrecovery.img' included with the new one.
-For the Optimus One, the recovery needs to be named grecovery.img.
I don't understand the version numbers. Why did some numbers get skipped?
-First digit represents a huge change. Second represents new features. Third represents a bug fix
-2.3.1 = Second huge update with 3 feature revisions and one bug fix

If you are stock, install a custom recovery and root first and you'll be good. Or if you mean you want to flash a stock ROM, then yes you can.

[TUT] Flashing kernels via CWM

Hi friends..!! Basically,
you may wanted to
flash a custom kernel
on your Samsung Galaxy Y or other phone but don't have a PC to flash it via Odin; then by this method, you can flash it by CWM!
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT
RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY
KIND OF DAMAGES &
BRICKS. I can still help
you if you bricked your
phone
1.. Download the kernel
file to your SD Card. It
should be in *.zip or *.rar or *.7z extension.
2. Extract the file via
Root Explorer.
3. You'll get a "boot.img"
file after the extraction
is completed. This file IS the main kernel.
4. Now create a folder in your SD Card to be
shown as /clockworkmod/backup/*KERNEL NAME*. Replace ''KERNEL NAME'' to the name of the kernel you are flashing.
5. Move boot.img file you got after extraction to "/sdcard/
clockworkmod/backup/
NAME/*HERE*. (the folder you've created- in
step#4).
6. View the details of
that boot.img file. (long
tap on file>Details- on
root explorer).
7. Copy the MD SUM you
got in file details.
8. Now there, create a
file and name it as nandroid.md5 . Open
nandroid.md5 file you
have created in a TEXT
EDITOR and paste that
md5 sum you've
copied ..and save ur
nandroid.md5 file.
Now there will be 2 files
in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/NAME/*HERE*:
--BOOT.IMG
--NANDROID.MD5
make sure their is no
other file except these two (boot.img, nandroid.md5)
9. Boot in CWM recovery.
10. Mount/System.
11. Select "backup and
restores''> advanced
restore.
12. Choose ur kernel file.
13. Select restore boot> comfirm restore.
14. When restore done,
goto ADVANCED and fix
permissions.
15. Finally, click on
REBOOT SYSTEM NOW.
Phone will restart and
1st boot will take some
time.. and the kernel
flashed ..
Please hit "THANKS" if
you find this useful..

I personally tested the rom..try reformatting your ext4 partition and flash again..everything will work flawlessly..
Great rom. Im on windows mobile right now and data wasnt working for me so i took the clk patch and put in the rom before a reflash and data is wonderful now just to let you know.

Great job, goes very smoothly but does not recognize ext4, so internal storage is very low. I have formatted the sd rom and I did clean install.
Hi, what is the difference between this ROM and [01.01.2013] Resurrection [MAG/cLK][NATIVESD][DATAOnExt] MIUI Eve JB -Tytung Ker in terms of stability and power drain? The both ROMs looks the same, so there is a problem which one to choose first to test?
Specific question: which kernel has any of these ROMs? There is no info about it in the post #1.
I think this is a great rom. There is only one issue. When I try to install apps sized more than 5 MB system refuses and tells me there's no more space available.
How can I fix this?

I think it should nt be the case related to ext4..everybody here is to access their ext4's..make sure you have set both fat32 and ext4 as 'primary'..

For those getting error 7 try this:
Get into recovery and see. if /system is mounted, unmount it first!.
If it isn't mounted mount and unmount
The trick is that if it can't mount then it will fail with error 7. So if you can't mount and unmount don't flash DoomLord's Rom yet
You need the FIXED recovery that DoomLord uploaded.
Now we have to fix the script DoomLord uploaded. Download DoomLord's fixed recovery and right click the install.bat file and select edit.
Near the end of the file there is the line that says reboot. erase that line!!
It seems there are times the reboot is too fast and the recovery install is interrupted. So we will have to reboot the phone manually.
Now save the file and run it. As you can see in the script's last lines they begin with the word su. That means it is asking for root. If your phone has root there is a chance a dialog appears asking for permission. say yes!!! if it doesn't ask maybe a toast message will appear saying "shell has been granted root permissions"
Anyway you should be checking your phone's screen constantly
If you see either the toast or dialog then we are fine to reboot and it will automatically enter recovery. repeat step 1 to verify if you can mount and unmount /system.
If you didn't see any of those then you might not have root and need to root first!
If after all this you can mount and unmount /system then you shouldn't have trouble to flash just remember to unmount /system before flashing the room.
That's it good luck.
Click thanks if I helped you.

- In CWM when it says mount /system, does it mean that system is unmounted?
EDIT: "ro.semc.version.fs=WORLD" Does it mean, it's world generic?
What have they noticeably fixed?

if it says "mount /system" then system is already unmounted...
if it says "unmount /system" then system is mounted and needs to be unmounted for this to flash properly...

I`m not responsable for anything that may happen with your data / phone / life!!
Your warranty will be lost flashing rom/cwm/kernel/mod so think twice before!
If you don`t know what you`re doing maybe the best is to avoid it.
Roms are fully stock with minor changes:
-fully deodexed
-zipaligned
-fully rooted + busybox
-removed some of the bloat.

Install:
-put downloaded zip to sdcard
-flash cwm recovery if you don`t have - view #2 post
-make a full backup because you may lose your data!!
-in recovery choose 'install zip' and navigate to rom`s zip location
-wait till done*
-wipe cache/dalvik**
-reboot system
*no need to format system because rom has format script built in
**you can try without fully wipe to not lose your data but device may be laggy. If that wipe data/cache/dalvik.
For stock firmware flashing see this:
First of all make a free account on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and download from there device specific firmware (s6810/p/B/L/E or s6812)
After that download Odin 3.07 from here, run Odin as administrator and put the firmware under the PDA tab without modifying any settings. Put the phone in download mode and flash the firmware. After flashing let it Reboot. It will reboot first on recovery to apply the csc and after will reboot normally and it will bootloop. When the bootloop comes pull out the battery for 30 secs, then put it back and boot into recovery using 3 button combo (vol.up+home+power). When you reach to recovery make a full wipe (data/cache) and reboot.

MODS
This mods are working only in deodexed roms and only on single sim devices.
For now it`s only 4 way reboot wich i didn`t added to rom and accuweather widget from s4 100% transparent.
More in few days i hope.
I included a reverse zip for 4 way reboot - If something isn`t as should flash to go back to stock reboot menu.

I tried to flash it again and it states that it installed OK but no change.
I tried installing the restore zip and rebooting and then re - installing the power menu zip but no change.
It's not a big issue to me, would just stop me forgetting if it's "home-power-volume-down" or "home-power-volume-up"... LOL. I always forget.

Hmmmmmm after rebooting a 2nd time the boot menu mod works perfectly.
Awesome work.
Everything is running smoothly.

Aha but by experimenting you're taking the first steps You'll be a fully fledged developer in no time.
But nice work in the meantime
tried with no succes new cwm.. got me to bootloop.. still trying to find the source of the first cwm.. the user or the git.. if someone knows something please tell me.. would make it easier than playing lottery with scripts till find the right one..
i'm thinking a while to focus on more mods and optimising things. is still a usable cwm. for the usb mount bug i suggest getting an usb card reader as i have and for the backups keep accounts synced and use titanium..
Edit: i read on cwm thread that *dup backups are working.. but not tested.. anyone can confirm?
cheers!
