Arthur. You're boring.
If your device is that bad then send it back as it's clear you're having a lot more problems than everyone else.

no problems here in anyway battery life is fine handset running smooth and fastttttt....................superb device love mine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After I found a way to move my Angry bird space progress without Titanium backup, I'm content using un-rooted one x for now.
I'd like to use Adblock for web browsing and Autostarts to stop some apps from running, but ICS RAM management seems to be working fine.
Battery life seems OK, got 3 hrs 40 mins with full screen brightness and 3G on 2nd full charge.

I will send it back after the bank holiday IF I can get an RMA off Handtec.
I won't quit moaning about it, the OP asked for an opinion so I gave it. It's a big chunk of change to put down on a device to have something important let you down.
It's hard to appreciate a device when you can only get 3 hours screen time off a 3 hour charge.
It totally undoes all of the good work HTC have done with it. If you took the battery life of say an iPhone 4 and applied it here, it would be hands down the best piece of kit ever to come out. Literally.
I wouldn't use it as often at home because that is what the laptop and high end gaming PC is there for, so when out and about without access to a plug socket you want it to be at least reasonable. It seriously isn't.
Waiting for software / firmware updates when you have a limited time frame to return it is too much of a risk.
If HTC would have pushed 1.27 on launch day as anticipated a lot of this ill feeling wouldn't be here.
Your buying a device that is different to what is in the reviews.

Battery isn't great but its nothing different than other android phones.

ok so having had it since 7am this morning i must say its amazing, its buttery smooth, not had 1 bit of lag or stutter,
as it stands atm its currently on 9 hours 17 mins and the use i have been doing is
downloaded 7 apps,
installed gta3 from tegra zone which the download to play is 492mb over wifi,
took about 30 odd pics 2 videos 35 secs each
phone calls for about 45 mins total
set up dropbox, browsed ebay for 7 mins and brought 2 items,
ran 4x benchmarks
browesed market place for about 10 mins
sent and recieved around 40 texts,
played around on facebook,
as im a phone shop manager i treated myself for a comparison on it with
the razr
xperia s
s2
my nexus s
mainly cameras , benchmarks speed tests, really testing day .
1 major astonishment i found was
i managed to take come off lock screen boot camera-take a pic before the xperia s got into camera mode. winner,
but so far so good no issues from me and my sexy white x
cheers,

Whats the problem,
At the moment, I'm getting a very similar screen on time to my SGS2 (3+hrs) & my HTC ONE X screen is much brighter then I ever had it on my SGS2.
Its also a known fact (due to reviewers) that 1.27, which we don't have yet, 'dramatically' improves battery life with 1.28 'rumoured' to extend it even further!

I guess it is the chance we take on buying the device at launch, there always going to be problems both hardware and software we sometime so-called "bata tester" get stuck with.
You could just return it and wait for couple of months to see if HTC made any improvmements.

That is what I don't understand about this launch.
The phone reviewed isn't what we have. The reports of battery life and such aren't what we have paid for.
I contacted HTC by email , phone and Twitter and nobody has any ETA and even deny knowledge of an update coming for general release soon.
I just want the device the reviewers had.

Even without the update, your still getting a battery life very similar to Samsungs current flagship device (which has had a few software updates) - this is with a much brighter screen, a larger HD screen & a quad core processor when compared to the SGS2.
Are you just pissed you haven't got the 1.27 update (& don't know when you will...), or do you really think the battery is that bad?
I know 1.27 is gonna improve the battery, but even in its current state - when I compare it, it ain't that bad compared to the competition.

I had the SGS2 and the battery life is better than what we got here, seriously.
And I did have a Sensation around launch , it was glitchy but again the battery life was not this poor.
But it could also be a case of not noticing it as much because I could carry a spare battery if need be, but never felt the need to use it.
Today our car broke down on the motorway and after calling the RAC then having to get a tow, the battery was nearly depleted and I had the worry of whether it would last long enough to take the call from when they arrived.
Then having to send a few texts to let people know we wouldn't be getting there, just how on earth are you meant to appreciate the greatness of this phone with the constant battery worries?
Random point, but do this.
Go into the Play store, scroll down the free apps for a short while, then check your battery status. 3 or 4% down having done practically nothing.

Such are the risks of getting a v1.0 anything I'm afraid, it will almost always not be as good as v1.1+. You take the chance of having initial issues vs. having the latest greatest device first. This has always been the way, some of the early release iPhones have had terrible problems until receiving patches.
At the moment I'm loving the phone, I don't think the battery is all that bad so far, but looking forward to the updates making it better, I'm certainly happy with the choice I made, no question.

Think I will try a swap out for another, see how that fares. If it is exactly the same then atleast I know i've given it a fair roll of the dice.
It's like I am really hoping there is something wrong with mine, and the battery isn't how it's meant to be but the pattern is common on here and usage stats are all pretty much the same.
I wouldn't say its right to compare it to the iPhone neither. HTC have had plenty of time to get this right. I've had the Hero> Desire > Sensation and now this. Each time I keep expecting them to "get it right" and they never quite make it.
The craziest thing is, the Hero is still my pick of the bunch judging by how I felt at the time and the fact I added a hench battery and made it even better.

i think alot of users were expecting too much from the phone massive hype led to a kick in the nuts for some .. ????take the phone as it is, if battery is going to make or break your decision then a machine like this maybe isnt for you.
end of the day it is android 4 with sense 4 big screen quad core - expect battery to be poor until you have a few cycles and updates are sent out, dhd was worse i had 2 off them....
cheers

Im getting my HTC One X on Tuesday next week from phones4u hopefully, cant wait!. But ive read such a difference in people experiences with the battery life of this phone that im not sure what to make of it! lol, ill just have to wait and see I guess and report back how i find it, it promising to see that the majority, correct me if im wrong, of UK users seem to be reporting good battery life though!

Thinking about buying the Droid Incredible, help w/advice & questions

I am currently a Motorola Razr user (yes, I am way behind the times!), and it finally is time to get a smartphone. I don't want to get the iPhone because I can't stand Apple, and I think I've narrowed my search down to the Droid Incredible (I think the Droid X is a bit large).
However, I have a few questions I hope can get answered, and I need some advice:
1) Battery life- I have heard mixed things about the Inc's battery life. Most say it is not good, and some say it is just fine. If I am planning on rooting and loading a custom ROM, how would you rate the battery life? Compared to the Droid X and the iPhone 4? How long does a single charge last?
2) LED light - I know the video mode does not turn on the LED light for constant light, but I read somewhere that the Inc will get an update that will get LED constant video light - is this true? I know 720p was recently added.
3) I just checked out the phone at my local Verizon store, and when scrolling through menus/etc it tends to lag sometimes. Can this be fixed if I root and load a custom ROM?
4) I am also thinking about waiting for the Samsung Fascinate to come out, but that could be a while, and I need a phone pretty soon (in the next week or two). If the Droid Inc. is very close to the Fascinate in features (which I think it is except for the Super AMOLED 4-inch screen), would it be wise to wait for the Samsung, or should I bite the bullet and get the Droid Inc. now?
Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance.
1. Battery sucks. Only 4hours of moderate use.
2. I never use the led light, so I can't help there
3. Roms and kernels fix all lag. Try cm6 or skyraider with Hydra v.08 icicles or ocov (whichever is stable). That will fix lag.
4. Super amoled vs amoled- you can see super amoled in the sun, and it is difficult with regular.

Wow u sure know a lot without having the phone. I've had the Droid incredible now for around 3 months, I used to have the iPhone then a LG dare then the Droid Eris. I can honestly say the Incredible is the best of all the phones ever.
1) battery life- battery life for Me lasted 22 hours but this depends entirely upon how you use your phone. I had maybe a half hour of music a day, 20-40 texts and maybe a half hour of all the other stuff. Now I am rooted and running a rom(cyanogenmod test 7) on my incredible and I can get possibly a few extra hours of batt.
2) Led Light - in order to use the LED light while video recording, I believe their should be an ota update comming out as earley as friday that will fix this problem and add many more features.
3) Performance - when it comes to the speed and performance of the device, that depends on what is taking up the CPU, the more apps you have running, if you download task manager to kill the apps to stop them from running, the CPU will have more ram to coordinate itself. As it stands, the phone you saw in the store probably had its ram( CPU) taken up by all the running apps. An overclocked kernel for use with a rom can also solve this problem.
4) give or take- I highly reccomend the Incredible to anyone on Verizon's network. I too found the Droid x was very large and wouldent fit my lifestyle. As for the Samsung Facinate. The incredible and facinate are very close performance wise. If I was in your position I might consider the facinate just because its newer, but I highly reccomend the incredible because its just amazing.

Avazee,
I recently got an Incredible, coming from Windows Mobile. I've been using WinMo for about 3 years now and got tired of it, mostly due to AT&Ts crappy network. Was waiting for them to get their network improved and possibly get better phones but iPhone wasn't my choice either.
Here are some of my objective (hopefully) experience so far -- keep in mind I only have it for 5 days now.
1) Size: the device is the right size for me. I tried the EVO and while it's has a really nice screen, it's too big for my needs. The Incredible I get the same hardware with a smaller size factor.
2) Battery: this was a major concern of mine when getting this phone. However, so far I haven't noticed bad battery life on it. I used it for about 2-3 hours non stop (playing games, checking emails). For the rest of the day I had only Mobile Data enable and everything else disabled (GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth). I also installed "Advanced Task Killer" which is configured to kill tasks every 30 mins. This a great program and works well so far. I have purchased the upgraded battery (1750 mAh) which does not require a back cover change. Still waiting to get it. For the usage I did today, I had about 40% battery left.
3) Customization: The same day I got the phone, I was able to root the device and load custom ROMs. While I'm familiar with the ROM process on WinMo, I think the Android is much easier to work with. There are some good guides on the forums and UnRevoked makes it very easy to root the phone. After flashing a few ROMs, I ended up flashing back the Verizon ROM and using ADB to remove a few package. Works fine for me. Don't get any lags or notice any performance issue with HTC Sense. You can always replace HTC Sense with LauncherPro or some other launcher. LauncherPro has a lot of customization.
4) Screen: AMOLED ver Super AMOLED, I don't think there's much difference, at least from what I've read and seen in videos. Haven't seen the Super AMOLED in person to compare. What I can tell you about the Incredible, is that I have no issue with the screen so far. I have it set to auto adjust the brightness which seems to work well.
Using it for only 4 days, I think it's a great phone and customization seems to be endless, or at least can keep you VERY busy.
Verizon should have a 30 day return policy so order it, try it out and see how it works for you. If you don't like it, return it and wait for the Samsung or some other ones coming up... you will not be short of options. lol.
Hope that was somewhat helpful. If you need any specific info, PM me.

Wow, thanks for all the responses, I greatly appreciate it!
ecltech, thanks for the info. I just checked Verizon's return policy, and they state that there is a $35 restocking fee for all returns. Is that true?
Also, which upgraded battery did you get, that doesn't add any bulk/size?
I just wish someone knew when the Samsung Fascinate is coming out... if it were 2-4 weeks away, I'd probably just wait until that comes out.
Thanks again for the help.

The battery I purchased is from www.seidioonline.net. I've used their products in the past for a previous WinMo phone and it works well. The battery is a slim battery while adding additional capacity so it does not add any bulk to the phone.
Yes, Verizon's return policy has a $35.00 restocking fee. I look at it as a small price to pay for using the phone for 30 days and then returning it.
Try both and see what best fits your needs. In the end it's what works best for you that matters.
Good luck!
Yeah, unfortunately, still no word on the Fascinate/Galaxy S for VZW. But if you need a phone now, you'll be happy with the Incredible.

1) battery life. Coming from a non smart phone (I had a ENV Touch) the battery life simply does not compare. That battery would last for days with moderate use, and over a week with light use. But that's one of the trade-offs with any smart phone. I charge nightly now, but haven't had any issues with the stock battery draining during a day of moderate use. Compared to my BB curve (which I still have, stupid work exchange server policies) battery life is similar when it comes to periods when the phone is heavily used, but it does seem to drain faster on standby. Overall, battery is bearable in my opinion.
2) dunno.
3) I don't notice any lag on mine. It's always been very responsive in my experience with the stock setup. Anyplace in particular?
4) The Galaxy S is the only one of the 4" screen models I've seen yet which I'd consider over the Incredible. It's still a bigger phone, and I really like the size of the incredible. The screen should be better in sunlight, and looks to have a little better color in the videos I've seen, and it also should be much better in terms of 3D processing. If it was out today, I'd definitely consider trading in my incredible for one. But it's not, and who knows when it will be released.
Overall I've been really happy with my incredible, and don't think you can go wrong with the phone. If you can hold off, the Fascinate looks like a great phone as well, but two months later, yet another phone which is better yet will be released. The incredible is proven to be a very solid phone, samsung has had some hits and misses in the past.
Cool - I am really thinking about getting the Inc., instead of waiting for the Fascinate to come out. A few more questions in the meantime:
1) Out of curiosity, is it possible to purchase a European Galaxy S and have it work on AT&T here in the US?
2) If I buy the Inc., root it and load a custom ROM, will I still receive OTA updates for FroYo and the other patch that adds the Video light?
Thanks again for everyone's help.
I've had the phone since launch... not sure how long its been now....
1) Battery life is pretty decent for a smartphone. I have the Seidio 1750mAh battery and I get 19-20 hours everyday with 30-40% left. I leave home at 5AM and I don't plug in until I go to sleep, usually around 12. I however wouldn't recommend the seidio battery as its more expensive than the TP2 battery and you get the same capacity. Take a look at Batteryboss.org. I own 3 of these Seidio batteries and if you take the plastic cover off, you can see they are all 1500-1590mAh cells. I use Gtalk all day, not much SMS, around 20 Gmails and 10-15 exchange emails a day with realtime syncing, and about an hour of talk per day. I use automatic task killer as well.
2) The 2.2 Froyo ROMs have the light on for the camcorder. Check here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738634
3) The lags through the menus are most likely because of everyone playing with the phone, opening all the apps, webpages, etc and never killing any tasks or rebooting. This is a "smartphone/computer" and closing programs is necessary. I have had lag in the menus usually when the phone is syncing or installing an app etc, very few though. Also the froyo with 2.6.32 gives you more available RAM and its faster, haven't had any menu lag yet!
4) The hummingbird SoC is definitely an improvement of Snapdragon, same cpu (very close) just better gpu and other small changes. The superAmoled display is mainly brighter in the fascinate, makes reading the display in sunlight easier.
Incredible Vs Fascinate? Its really a look and feel preference I'd say... You really need to touch the device and use it in person to make an informed decision. For me, the incredible is very thin and light and fits in my pocket with no case, just a zagg shield and I barely notice its there, thats why I chose it. If you need a phone very soon get the incredible from BestBuy and pricematch wirefly or amazon. They have a 30 day return policy (no restocking fee) and you can exchange it if you decide on the Fascinate.
PS. I think the incredible is still back ordered. Everyone I've seen has a 5-10 days delay... Might be worth just waiting a couple weeks to decide
I just bit the bullet and just purchased a the Droid Incredible. I'm excited - hopefully it will arrive next week.
As another stupid (I apologize in advance) question - where do start when it comes to rooting/loading the best ROM? Is there a quick link/blog post/guide that shows me?
Many thanks again for all the help so far.

STOP READING MY MIND!!!!!!
seriously though, this post is exactly what i've been going through the last two weeks...
i couldn't decide whether to wait for the elusive Fascinate or go for the Inc or the X. throw in the rumors that tiered data is coming soon too... i've been so anxious lately.
i couldn't take it anymore so i ordered the Inc. the X is way too big for my hands to use one handed comfortably.
Sense is way better than Ninjablur. Samsung's UI stinks. The Inc has higher pixel density and a better processor imo.
i'm only worried about the crappy audio codec and slow framerates during HD recording. Man, the sound is horrible.
i sure wish i could get a solid release date on the fascinate. graphics chip is sick. BUT, i don't wanna wait too long and lose the opportunity to get unlimited data.

I'd say don't buy one. It's a great phone.. Best one I ever had in my opinion. If your a newb, looking for help ,without getting insulted, this isn't the phone for you!
Love the phone, hate the support. Don't get this phone if you don't know more than anyone else around here. Prepare for total Internet tough guy vengeance as they flex there "i know more unix than you!" muscles at every turn. Want a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer if a certain csv is supported by 2.2?
Prepare for a, total IRC rock em sock em, you don't know what i know, brawl as they flirt with file extensions and unix innuendos that you don't understand. Make new names in irc to mock you, and just piss all over yer newbness. Just bask in the awesomeness of there skills and eat it. YOU DONT KNOW MORE THAN ME LA LA LAA LAA LAAA LAAA!
Sums up my experience so far. Thanks IRC!

Going back to my iPhone 4s

To begin, I want to say that I am not an Apple Fanboy or a mindless lemming for anything with an Apple logo. I've had many droid phones in the past. I just wanted to give my personal opinion between both phones and explain my personal reasons for dropping my GN and going back to my iPhone 4s.
I know that some people don't use the camera on their phone, but I have a 6 year old daughter. I use my camera quite a bit so it's important too me. I am not hung up on specs so the 5 mp camera didn't scare me. In the end it's all about what the pics look like. In perfect lighting situations the camera is pretty good. But we all know that most pictures aren't shot in perfect lighting conditions. For one week every time I took a pic with my GN I also shot one with my iPhone. Overall the iPhone pics were better. They were sharper, colors were more accurate and overall looked closer to what I was shooting. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the GN is as horrible as most posts say, I'm just saying for my personal use it's quite a bit below the iPhone's camera for the situations I am in and use my camera for. Don't tell me that it's just a camera phone and I shouldn't be that picky. You can't deny that they skimped on the camera. It's not nearly as good as most current phones. I would have been happy with the same camera from the Galaxy SII, but it's not even that good.
Battery use is another reason. I realize that it's a bigger screen, faster processor etc. so it's not going to be in the same ballpark as my iPhone. However I had 4g turned off and brightness turned down to 40% and it was still horrendous. Now before you jump on my, i did root my phone and had a rom/kernel installed. No difference! I would lose 10% of my battery for every 10 minutes of on-screen time. I was averaging 1.5 hours of on-screen time before my battery died. This is something I monitored very closely.
Also, for full disclosure, my iPhone is jailbroken so I have several widgets that refresh every 15 minutes going and the on-screen time is well over 10 hours!
The screen is nice, and while it's probably the best of the droid phones, it's not better than the iPhone's. Now you can say that it's personal preference so here's what I did. I took a pic with my iPhone and sent it to my GN. I opened the pic on both phones and set them side by side. The iPhone was sharper and more realistic in each case. I also took a pic with my GN and then sent it to my iPhone for a comparison. Same result.
I really wish that those factors weren't a dealbreaker for me because otherwise it is an awesome phone! The speaker was loud, signal was strong, didn't have any rebooting issues - all of which are being reported all over the forums. It's easily the best droid phone but just not on the same level as my iPhone. Like I said my iPhone is jailbroken so I'm able to pretty much do anything that you can with the GN!
And don't tell me that the iPhone sucks and needs to be jailbroken because the same argument can be made for the GN. The reason people root and install custom rom's/kernels is because they want a different experience/performance that what they get out of the box.
Again, this post was to give an honest user experience of why I am going back to my iPhone based on how I use my phone.
Camera quality improved quite a bit in 4.0.4. Did you use this update?
Oh noooo please dont go please dont leave us!!!
I have not updated to 4.0.4. I checked and wasn't able to update to it. The rom I was using was 4.0.4 based.
Can I update somehow even if I haven't gotten the message yet?
These threads should be auto-deleted.
That's odd I have galaxy nexus lte with the 2100 battery and honestly I have no complaints about battery life I use my GPS twice a day for about an hour and half both ways and many emails and phone calls also including all the junk I look up on the internet and I still go to bed with atleast 20 percent left... all stock. The camera I can agree on wtf were they thinking. To hell with shutter speed I want quality not quantity

If you are on a custom ROM, you probably won't get the message and even if you do, you wouldn't be able to update OTA unless you reverted to stock.

Without starting a pointless flame war, this is not typical of general nexus users. You have something draining your battery. Honestly, don't let this put you off. Do some digging and see what is killing your battery and then decide. Something is amiss.

I've looked at all running apps etc. Nothing out of the ordinary that would cause the battery to drain that quick. And this was with 4g off and on wifi.

While I concur that the camera is not as good as the iPhone’s—Google and Samsung failed here—I don’t know how you did this. With stock 4.0.4 I get 3.5-4 hours of screen time consistently and plenty of battery to spare, and I don’t do anything special to get it. That said, you’d have to pay me, and pay me well, to force me to use an iPhone daily.
Wtf did I just read.. retina is better than super amoled HD ? So you're telling me you can see the 20 pixels ? The experience on the nexus is much better.. iPhone is for dumb people, no offense, not to say that iPhone looks way too familiar now, and its build quality is ****, the nexus is better in everything except camera where the iPhone slightly edges the nexus
You should get an award for being the blindest person alive

I would agree with you on the camera bit. The camera on my old iPhone 4 was far superior than my Galaxy Nexus. With the GN you really need a steady hand to get a proper shot. I haven't got the 404 update yet so I'm hoping that this will be fixed.
Well sounds like you don't have enough time to tailor Android to your liking, ****ty deal. IPhone will be perfect for you then.

I manage to get 3 hours at least on a normal day, even with wifi only half of that. Get betterbatterystats from here on xda and see what (if anything) is keeping your phone awake. Seriously, something is not right. Maybe something as simple as a ROM/Kernel combo. Try a few different ones and see how you fare.

All respect is lost.
Would you mind posting up a couple of the shots to see the comparison between the 2 phones??
Any rom/kernel suggestions? I'm open to trying something that might help me.
BTW, for all the people calling me dumb, stupid and saying I need to go to an iPhone, you're just proving your fanboys! Instead of helping me or offering suggestions it's easier just to criticize.
Thank you to the posts from members who are actually trying to help!

So you post an asshole comment right back, a lot of times people see problems because of user error.
Go back to your Apple world, enjoy the limitations and enjoy not being able to customize to it's full extent. You can say that you can do anything with your iPhone4S but at the end of the day that is just not true. Jailbroken or not.
Again, go, have fun, no skin off any of our backs and now we have one less hostile person to worry about.

[Q] Is it recommendable to buy a HOX now?

I'm worried about the issues plaguing the device, have the updates and latest software fixed some of the issues? Overheating, screen ripples, draining battery etc?
those production issues have been fixed more than a month ago, if u like the phone, jump on without aby fears, ull love it here
overheating is within acceptable range eith custom kernels, and future releases by nvidia and htc are bound to solve this issue further
battery life has been quite good too, but this is suvjective and depends on ur usage

I'm getting a second hand one with full warranty that's been used for the past three months and this is probably one of the first few batches out of the gate so I'm just being careful What about lag and the multi tasking issue? Did HTC fix that or are they still forcing us to accept reloading pages as a new standard for conserving ram and battery?
I haven't used an HTC phone for quite some time now and although Samsung has been really really nice, it's not as satisfying as owning an HTC

that is a sense issue. currently, all non sense roms dont hace that issue.hopefully, htc will push the new release out with a multitask fix, as they already fixed the live wallpaper issue.
lag is nonexistant on roms, really, blazing fast, i have never seen sense this fast, all due to the viper rom and the faux experimental oc kernel.
all problems are pretty much fixed in roms, and hopefully, htc will step up their game asap and release their 404 update. its been confirmed to drop in the following 2 weeks

Thank you. One last thing, is the wifi problem related to hardware or just software? I'm referring to the one wherein you press the upper right hand corner of the screen and the wifi signal gets stronger.
You mentioned all problems being fixed on custom roms, what about stock roms?

hardware. and its not really a bad thing too, cant understand why people stress over it. stock currently has pretty good battery life, its just the three dot menu that needs a fix.the very soon to be released 404 update will resolve all that and bring a lot more enhancements to the table.

I agree with KLUVJ that this phone is really good except of that one issue i have with push email on the sense email client. However if you do use the gmail app or any other 3rd party app like maildroid, i think you are fine.
I find that the phone overheat a little more than the iphone but within acceptable range. Tried viper rom yesterday and i was amazed! the amount of settings you could do to tweak the phone is just unbelievable.
Hope you can join the group here!

Regarding the wifi issue, are there phones with no problems? I've been reading up and it seems that HTC is accepting units for repair if you do have this issue, correct?
Lastly, what's the real deal with the battery life? I've read through a gazillion posts with some claiming it sucks and is below the gs3, others are praising it and saying it can beat the iphone 4 and 4s which I say is almost impossible for android. GSMarena rates the battery life of the hox 6 hrs below the GS3 with video playback at a paltry 6hrs only

It had the wifi "grip of life" issue and a duff speaker, but I got it repaired by HTC and all is well now.

There are phones with no problems. But excessive checking for the problem i.e pushing the part between volume and cam with force again and again can actually create the problem. Yes htc is accepting units for repair.
Battery life opinion will be as different as genetic code lol. Here's mine.
Some custom roms give even better battery life than others. My phone lasts a day on full charge with me having made about 30 minutes of calls, lots of whatsapp messages, web-browsing, tweeting, etc.
I get an average of 2 hours 50 minutes of screen on time.
Say you don't touch the phone for 7-8 hours maybe your sleeping or whatever, the battery would have drained only about 2-3%. That's with data/wifi and cell reception on. Incredible Standby Time.
When you do use the phone the battery flies away like crazy . I have to fully charge my phone once a day.
what about the latest batches HT26 and SH27. what is the probability of those models to be defective (hardware issue).
Honestly, if you think we are having issues, you best check out the SGS3 forums lol.
Dude i got my HOX the day it became available in my country, i was well aware of the potential issues and luckily i got a defect free unit.
I used it as a stock device for about 2 weeks and was very impressed with battery life and overall smoothness, honestly you dont need to root a HOX to get the best out of the device, it holds its own pretty well.
I rooted because I am used to the luxury of Titanium Backup, Super User apps that I have purchased and because i dont like to wait for OS updates lol.
Why wait on a carrirer when i know how to do it myself and what Team PkmN was doing with charmeleon ROM was waaaay to tempting to just sit and watch from the side lines and miss out on the action lol, truth be told that ROM was the main reason i took the plunge.
I consider myself a power user and would recommend ViperX and Faux 005 beta 1 kernel, that is if your going to root.
Thank you for the input everyone I appreciate it. I do hope I get one without issues

Potential ONE X buyer

Got a few questions:
Now then coming from a Galaxy Note and Iphone 4s.
1) Battery life is it as good as the above phones
2) How quick does it recharge, not a slow re charger, needs to be as speedy as the Iphone
3) Wifi strength is it OK like the Note or powerful like the Iphone
4) GPS does it find satellites instantly like the Note or pretty quick like the Iphone..
Other than that the One X seems to be hitting all the plus points for me, hope you don't mind the comparisons to other phones
theres a problem with the wifi antenna, which also serves as the bluetooth antenna. the wifi is that good on the one x, that even when its broken it can still get good signal.
the gps may also use the same antenna not 100% sure. so if you got a one x with the antenna problem (which afaik, all one x's have a chance of getting this)
the battery life is good - however when you actually start using the phone, it does go pretty quickly. not much more quickly than the iphone though. in standby times, it wouldn't surprise me if hox had better battery life.
it charges quick enough (probabyl about 2-3hours). if you're using sat nav whilst charging, then it'll charge slower. but that happens with any phone anyway.

hmm was expecting this kind of response, thanks
Thanks Lawrence750, nice helpful stuff. appreciated:good:
I have a issues free One X and everything work flawlessly. GPS , wifi, and bluetooth are all very good.
I don't have a Note to compare but I heard the battery is very good on it (big battery with relatively modest specs so i guess it makes sense) so I don't think the battery on the hox quite compare to the note BUT, the main battery drainer on the One X is the screen which is phenomenal but it seems all this glory comes at a price and it s not uncommun to end the day with 75%+ battery usage from the screen only.
What this means is that on stand by or set on low brightness (the auto brightness tend to be to bright), the phone barely use any power so you can easily manage your power consumption.
That being said the battery life is good enough to handle a day of regular usage and is improving with each update (maybe jelly bean will improve it too).
So I guess I need to check and see if wifi gps and bt work OK before buying it seems.
Looking at some of the developers in here take me back to the Touch HD and HD2 days...
Yes been on XDA since 2007...eeek what an ole git

Yet you still started a new thread without searching? Sorry, I am fairly tolerant of noobs not thinking of searching first, it happens but if you expected this kind of response then not searching was rude and ignorant.
Back on topic. Battery life is not as good as the note but with lesser spec and bigger battery that's to be expected.
Screen on time will be close to iPhone 4s but probably slightly less, stand by time is days on end and beats almost any smart phone due to the very low power companion core which is all that runs in standby.
My one x wifi works 40-50 yards from the house with nothing but a free Sky (netgear) router and we have solid 9inch Victorian walls.
Gps lock takes a few seconds generally.
Lastly, you WILL NOT regret buying the One X. The screen and performance are mind boggling!
Sorry tried searching as always on XDA, but so many conflicting responses came back it confused me, sometimes putting your defined questions in one can get more accurate answers, and so far your all extremely helpful, I do apologise if I have been rude and ignorant, but Its also good to see how the community is, as I shall spend ages trawling through this XDA ONE X zone, one of the friendliest sections was the HD2 and loved spending time in there, but the Sammy S2 and S3 seem to have there fair share of pretty rude people, actually puts me off going for an S3, you might say "WHAT" its just a phone, but its not its the community that goes with it...that makes it a better phone
As an ex note user, I can safely say battery life is poor in comparison, however the hox more than makes it up in most other aspects. By far the best android phone around at the moment.

1 - Battery life is great, I've never had a day where it has died, always lasts the day which is all you need in a phone, as it can then be charged during sleep?
2 - Re-charge is also great, mine goes from Red to 100% within a couple of hours.
3 - WiFi strength isn't bad, always as good as, if not better than my laptop and PC
4 - It always has a good signal, what I will say that I have noticed is that sometimes, not all the time but sometimes, if you lose signal it will not repick the signal up until the phone has restarted.
Hope this helps.

I should also contribute my lil piece of advice here, as you seem genuine interested and not just the troll kind. Its true that people get offended from threads about phone comparison, but from what I have seen about those 'troll threads" it is all about "Which phone is better? Give me your opinion blah blah blah..." and provides no specific needs, when other people are the ones trying to figure out what the op really wants. and have they spoonfeed to the op. Anyways, I will tell you that you definitely won't regret having a HOX (not really a crapple fan). Comparing to the brick design of the iPhone and the gigantic Note (a bigger brick), to me the HOX phone built really stands out. This is also the first and only smartphone i ever had and I am already enjoying playing around with it. Having said that, I cannot tell you which phones are better in what aspect as I do not possess those smartphones you mentioned. There are lots of battery saving threads you can check around to make the phone easily last about one day and a half depending how you use it. Charging is really not a problem for me because outlets are literally everywhere in this age, even on your computer/ laptop (unless you are coming from a miserable background where outlets are considered luxurious). Before going to bed just simply leave the phone charging and will be good to go when i wake up. GPS... I don't really use it a lot as I mainly rely on the car GPS or google map. Speaking about Wifi, I will say kind of disappointed not because it is not good but I was expecting it to be strong as my laptop. But apparently some bird told me smartphones do have weaker wifi connection.
The biggest blessing for this phone is that there is no need to spend time waiting, praying, and scheming to break out the jail (thanks to Crapple). With One X, I can customize it to my needs (custom roms/ mods/ etc...) I really enjoy using the One Extreme Sound Enhancer to improve the sound quality. There are tons of custom roms floating around this forum so choose it to your liking. The issues you mentioned above, I have heard most are software related glitches and can be fixed by flashing roms. Hope that helps you make the choice. Good luck and have fun with your gadget.
Did you install the latest update from htc? I get 5 hours screen on time which is a lot. Usually i have 20-30% battery left at the end of the day now. It really makes a difference and now my phone is perfect.

WOW...still mulling this one over, so confused been reading lots of the forum and there are so many conflicting reviews of the phone, from people having to return there HOX's 10 times or so, to antenna, wifi terrible GPS and even amazing extremes of battery usage.
as long as i get the same length of time as my Iphone 4s and it charges nearly as quick i'm happy can always get a battery booster charger like those Anker ones for flights etc...
Just got this reply on AVforums...
I'll suggest you wait for the upgraded HOX+, get the S3, or wait till the end of the month to see what the new Note will be all about. In terms of battery life the HOX is probably the worst of the current bunch of top end phones, however Motorola have a couple of phones with very large battery capacities.
What is a HOX+ ?
Mostly rumour and conjecture based on some benchmark results that appeared online. It's probably specific to some network and marginally tweaked. Might not even work on your network. Nobody knows yet.

WOW

Good evening all i purchased my new lg g4 today in tan and its better than expected,im just wondering what you all think of it if anybody has 1 and was it as expected thanks for readig
I think almost every member on G4 has it. It's great that you're satisfied with your purchase but there is no need to create an extra topic just for this.
Nah its a good topic. This particular's phone community is really bad tho. I have never seen a community bashing others in every single topic. You guys cant wait for root and constantly are putting down new members.
Really...? If you dont like his post, simply ignore it and move the **** on. Back on topic: I really love the G4. It has a great camera, very fast and responsive (had a few touch issues but it was fixed with a software update) great battery life when you disable gps/data when theyre not needed.
Only downside is the design which doesnt look as good after awhile next to the iPhone and Samsung's premium look but you get leather back for that!
I have had it for almost 3 months and Im still not sure about it. Sometimes I really hate it sometimes I just like it. Lollipop is the thing that makes me wants to destroy it the most.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I just came from a galaxy S6 in all its sapphire goodness. The G4 to me is stunningly beautiful. I was holding it next to my wife's platinum gold S6 and ooh that screen ratio is beautiful. Sure it's not the brightest kid on the block, but who needs to squint to show that off? With accessibility>vision>Screen color adjustment. I can match the colors of sexy amoled just fine. Yes, this is mine and only mine until the Spring flagships are released.
Off topic, the Xperia Z2 Tablet sub is a joke with Real condescending folks.

Nah its a good topic. This particular's phone community is really bad tho. I have never seen a community bashing others in every single topic. You guys cant wait for root and constantly are putting down new members.
Really...? If you dont like his post, simply ignore it and move the **** on.

Sadly this is the norm for these forums. So many people are skilled at faulting someone's post and talking to them like they're in kindergarten. My favorite is "USE SEARCH FIRST! ! THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED! ! " As if no one and their grandma has ever heard of Google or has any idea that the forum search tool often sucks.
Right now I really like the phone but it has so much less support than my G3 on these forums plus so many people having strange issues like random boot loops of death on totally unmodified phones. On top of this my variant has no official KDZ/TOT file released
I've had my G4 for about two weeks, and overall I'm happy with it. Battery life could be better, but I think part of it is something strange going on with my phone causing fairly rapid drain every now and then. May try doing a factory reset to see if that helps
It's sort of a love/hate relationship with my G4. While I love the camera and form factor of the phone, I hate the battery life, overheating, and severe lack of development. I'm really hoping Marshmallow will fix some of the issues.
If they could improve the battery life, heating issues, and random performance lag, this would be damn near a perfect phone, even un-rooted. I had the G3 and HATED it. I like the G4 significantly better. I'm curious to see what they do with the G5 next year.
Mine overheats a bit, and I'm not even playing games.

Mine doesn't. I mean, when I play it does a bit, but it's expected.
I'm about to root my phone (I always do that, this is the first phone that I have for more than 2 weeks unrooted!!), but I do like it a lot (mainly camera).
It's really nice one (came from Galaxy S4).
What bothers me now:
1) When I use ProShot, it's draining the battery a LOT, as well as overheating (I'll check it with the DEV)
2) I do like using Google Now. However, with G4, it keeps activating GPS a LOT, more than usual!! Then, Android System shows as biggest battery drainer.
Overall, very happy.
Cheers.

I think almost every member on G4 has it. It's great that you're satisfied with your purchase but there is no need to create an extra topic just for this.

It's the 'General' section so it's OK to post things like that here, I guess.
But to be honest... The title of this thread could have been more professional
I came from a Nexus 5, which I dropped unfortunately... So I was kind of forced to buy the G4 a few weeks ago.
I'm quite satisfied with the whole package. The community support could be better (Maybe I'm spoiled by my 2 years Nexus experience?!)
But I think we have one of the best phones on the market and the community is growing!
Wow. That's what I said too when I took it out of the box.
issues that irk me at the moment
-battery life is horrid even with mods
-heats up a bit and like someone stated above thats not ven when youre playing games.(also flashed heat mod)
-on screen buttons which is my biggest peeve, i dont understand why people love them and they are the norm, they take up screen real estate. i constantly accidently hit them all the time when im doing things in apps. its just my personal experience but in general a clusterFuk for me.
other than that I love everything else.

Does a reboot improve anything ?
There is no overheating, if it overheats then the device will shut down. SOP on Android.
You have some processes that generating heat. if you're shooting 4k this will happen.
If screen brightness is on max and you're doing something intensive it will happen.
@One Twelve I wouldn't count using Tapatalk as intensive task. Screen brightness level is usually around 40-70%.
The workaround that I use is using power saving mode but the display is dimmer. It is far from ideal, but this way, I can easily last the day without having my battery being drained by the the two cortex A57.

I have it for a week now, love it ofc. No problems so far. Hope I won't get any in the future too.
I believe battery life depends on what phone u came from. It's will be seem as good battery if u came from s4 but bad if u come from note 4/5.

Kinda the same here. Love the hardware, not a fan of the software. CM12 is coming along very well, though, and as soon as Bluetooth is fixed (so I can use my Moto 360), I'll be moving to that as my daily driver. From limited use, it seems very stable!
One major issue I ran into recently was constant power cycling. Even after 3 factory resets, it would power cycle non-stop. I ended up having to get it replaced.
Strangely enough, my friend's G4 started doing the same thing on the exact same day as mine. Both Verizon variants.
I dont get alot of the comments here. I have great battery life especially on standby. Software wise g4 has less bloatware than samsung and i accredidate that to the good performance and lag free experience when the processor is one gen behind current flagships. The form factor in the hand is good too curved back and back buttons are great and took me no time to get used to coming from samsung. If i have a gripe it could be the touchscreen responsiveness butits nowhere near as bad as some people make out.
