[Q] Stock VVM from sprint HELP - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

My dad has the intercept and is about to upgrade his phone. Is there a way to save some of his VMs and have them emailed to him or something?
He's been trying to figure this out and I can't either since I never use it. He's trying to get all his VMs from my grandmother before she passed recently....
Thanks guys any help will do

I'm pretty sure you can log into sprint's site and download them sir. I would try that first.
I don't use the visual voicemail often so I'm not sure if you can save them directly to your phone or not...

I told him the same, he said he didn't get a update promp and it said he was up to date also....

Have him long press a VM and see if it has the option send to SD card, if it does then under menu there is a batch option to send in bulk

Thanks. I shouldve specified I tried that and canceled the call forwarding and activated the sprint vvm but still got that message but it was only on aosp roms. I ended up unrooting back to stock and reseting my phone to correct it. No problems since, definitely never using gvoice again.

try Roaming on verizon, then try again.
*2 is a short code that's programmed into the base, which CM does not have since the Sprint apps are not present in the base.

Well thats the main number for sprint. If that isnt working, there is a problem with your phone. Try flashing back to a stock rom.
WORK
Just be a little creative. Download a rom that comes with it as a removed/optional apk (MYN Warm 2.2 does for sure). Unzip the rom, find the apk & push it to your phone with adb:
adb devices (just to make sure it's connected)
adb mount
adb push srintzone.apk system/app/
adb reboot
Done
or just mount your sd card and place the apk file in a random folder and find it in your file explorer (download es explorer from market if you don't have one). just click on it in file explorer and it will ask you to install.
Honestly if you've flashed enough roms on your phone more than likely there is already a folder marked optional/removed that has it. I usually wipe most unused things but I keep a couple of these folders just in case.
Does sound like something may be wrong with your phone though if it isn't dialing a regular phone number.
Good Luck
EDIT: Excuse me for this. Doesn't work on AOSP roms, only sense. Sorry buddy good luck though.
I had same problem ...dial 611 and that will work ...

I have no idea where that is. I can't find any info on "nTelos" under a search for either "mms issues" or "miui" or any combo. Can you just tell me what you did to get your Evo to work on nTelos?
flash ntelos smartphone prl using a flash program qpst or cdma workshop u got to know what they flashed your phone under etc. htc desire use that mms settings to get internet and pics to work

Is it possible to flash it myself? I know they use Houdini at the store to flash it, and I'm quite sure I can flash it, I just needed to know how to get data and MMS working. Can you maybe be a little more specific?
i borked my mms, again. and ended up using app manager off of 4 shared on the market. sending is great, full picture great normal quality, but receiving is really poor. Its a full size picture but really really poor quality. the muiu thread was just a search for mms fix for ntelos and in google that one fix seemed to work, but was just easier downloading app manager. Yeah, its very frustrating, i would pay for an app that works good, but so far nothing is available.
Ok, so once again i'm wrong. went to the guy who flashed my phone and he reinstalled the app again on my phone for free! It took all of 5 min. Got to talking with him and he said that he spent months trying to come up with something that worked with sending and receiving mms, in the way the phone should. And if you live in lynchburg va. or near he works at unlimited wireless on wards rd. great guy his name is cris. thanks Cris! everything i tried would not work, smsgopro, handescent, chomp, change apn manually through voice dialer, ##3282# and changing them there. ya know, all the easy fixes. MMS has been a big problem for alot of phones. But in may the evo4glte comes out, sorry OG....RIP.
http://remotesquad.com/mms/ this app works for picture messaging and such. super simple. wish i found it years ago. Just Google remotesquad.

Using deactivated Epic as a media/app device?

I really don't even know how to search for this because the only device I know of that I could compare the functionality I want is the iPod Touch. I moved to Verizon a while back and got the Galaxy Nexus. What I would like to do with my Epic is remove all of the phone functions and leave it as a WiFi capable device similar to the iPod Touch so that my son can use it to watch videos and play games. I keep airplane mode turned on, but I keep getting some notification about voicemail not working and I would prefer it to not be able to accidentally dial 911 since Sprint is required to allow that call if the phone tries to send it.
Are there any ROM's that do this, or is it easy to remove the necessary files? I currently have ACE2.0 flashed, and I love it, but I will switch if I need to.
Didn't someone just post this exact same thing? Delete dialeractivity.apk and there will be no dialer.

Sorry, I didn't see any threads that I thought were the same question. Does that take care of the voicemail notification too?
I found this when looking for something similar for a used Fascinate.
I haven't tried it yet, but intend to when I get some time in a couple weeks...
Looking at the package it deletes several apks and installs a "radiooptions" binary that gets run via script at boot-up.

[APP] New Visual Voice Mail apk

I just installed Sprint's newest VVM app (v T.5.3.0.30) after being notified of an update. I attached it for anyone wanting to try it out. I'm running it on a stock ROM, so not sure if it will work with any Custom ROMs. Mostly a GUI change, and the icon changed from yellow/blue to gray/black.
Enjoy.

Did you just install the apk by opening it with a file manager? Of did you adb push it? Or use root explorer?
Rocking cm9
Any one that would like to know.
Its working on cm9rc1 if you just try & install the apk you get a signature mismatch. So I used Root Explore renamed it vtt-sprint.apk copied it to system/app over writing the old one. Then set permissions, rebooted to cwm cleared cashs then booted & it worked.

Worked fine from the get go for me on CM9 rc1. Just installed the apk, but I was using Google voice so it wasn't an install over an older vvm. Do have the 9016 SMS notifications though so using SMS filter to block.
Also, installed fine over older vvm on my wife's phone running CM7.2, although same issue with SMS notifications.
Well all (most >50%) cm roms r going the 9016 sms txt cuz that built into the stock telcom moded mms.apk

Any one find a good 9016 blacking app for ASOP ROMs?
My ExGF had the LG optimus s I flashed cm7 on it then the phone was useable. But any how the guy that made the build over at AC forums had the 9016 block built into the mms.apk that came with the rom.

According to Sprint the 9016 messages you get is because you have installed a 3rd party voice message software on your phone and you need to uninstall it. I'm not sure how much of it is correct cuz it didn't work for me. You can try see if it works for you. Other than that, there are no workarounds as of yet.
The sms from 9016 is what triggers vvm app to download the vmail.

Any one figure out a way to silence the ringtone for 9016? I can't believe it took untill 4.x with android to have a stock way to assign ringtone to contacts, but its only for voice calls NOT sms & or mms. If only google would pull there head out of there ass & add this feature to android we would not have this problem. I mean ALL MY old dumb phone could have a custom ringtone for contacts.
[Rant]IDK android is cool & all but its like the ppl/devs at google never owned a phone before they started working on android. I mean really how do you make a smart phone OS that takes all the way to 4.x to set ringtone per contact? WTF ! And as far as that goes idk is that really in ICS builds from OEMS & or Nexus all I know is its in cm9 [rant/]

Sprint visual voicemail T5.3.4.32 WORKS ON 4.4!

Hey all,
I just wanna share an apk with everyone. I restored to stock to grab a prl update (25017 is out) and decided to update visual voicemail, backup the apk, and try it on cm11.
It works just fine for me. Still get 9016 texts though.

damn.
I had high hopes when it actually installed on 4.4!
Sadly, it doesn't seem to work on the Nexus 5. I know the notifications are messed up right now so maybe an update will fix it later. *crosses fingers*
Thanks
Thanks. Will have to give it a look.
Edit. Install worked fine, app seems to be working fine. CM11 on my S4.
Nice.
Worked great on my 4.4.2 Note 2.
fyi, sent a text to 9999 reading BLOCK 9016 to stop that pesky 9016 message.
Peace.
I'm getting "error parsing file ” when I try to launch that apk.... is there something to be done other than downloading and launching?
...okay so I figured out I'm supposed to move it to /system/app which I managed to do after much hand wringing....still doesn't bring me visual voicemail. Is there another step?

most system apks wont install from you external sd card, move it to the internal card and it will install. but if you have it in system/app folder already, just reboot your phone and it should show up.
I thought that would be the case after reading up on it some more, but it still didn't work.... Found where someone had posted a zip file, and installed that, which did the trick.

google voice works just as good as sprint visual voicemail. and it can be used just for visual voicemail only.
