Hi, anyone having this issue? I found out that my has a dead pixel that keep lighting up.

I have also experienced this, just above the WiFi indicator. However, I've only seen it with the charger plugged in for some reason.

Everyone line up to feed the troll. Someone needs to do something about spam such as this. Hint.
On topic: I have searched my screen by using a fully black and fully white image, no dead pixels on mine, though there have been a fair amount of complains on here about them.
I do have some backlight bleed on the bottom right of my screen, though.

I just noticed there's a yellow spot on the bottom left corner. .. It shows only over white/ very light background.
Is that the backlight bleed? (I suppose it's not)

It's probably...

It's probably some adhesive.

If the pixel is blinking and still lighting and its not dead, probably because its unstable or something. Go google playstore download Pixelfixer and keep pressing on the scren to change color rapidly. The pixel will be fixed. Mine was fixed. Try it. Rmb to click the thank me button!!

Hi, yes the pixel keep on lights up. had tried the software mentioned, but for me the dead pixel is somewhere around the 3 dots menu bar. The app doesn't allow me to switch orientation therefore i am unable to test it out. Anymore advise ?

Dead pixel...
First, losing follow apologize for my English. I have also discovered a dead pixel, but in my case, image is dark or black screen (with your cell phone on course). I applied programs if a pixel is vague, but nothing. I applied a little pressure on the screen, as is recommended in other forums and nothing.

That should be a light pixel, I'd sent my HOX for replacement due to a light pixel.

Menu Lights on the Evo

The Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons are suppose to light up. But they aren't what gives?
It might only light up in dark places, I know mine isnt lighting up right now, but it has before.

There are some people who's don't light up, go into the closet and see if they go. Of course then you have to come out of the closet eventually
This happened to me. The lights stopped working all of the sudden... and then randomly started to work again. Don't know what the deal is.
They don't seem to light up when charging.

I noticed this too. If you unplug the phone they should turn on.
I thought you had to be in a dark area cause mine works only in dark places. Sort of like ny work blackberry same thing they light up when its dark.

Just confirmed it. There's an ambient light sensor on the right side of the HTC logo. If you angle your phone right in the light you can notice it....

Hah, you're right... I just tested it too, I turned the corner lamp on in my room but the button lights kept lighting up when I waked the phone... I walked up to the lamp, waked the phone up while it's facing me, buttons light up, wake the phone up while it's facing the lamp, buttons don't light up. I'm not sure I would've noticed that if I hadn't read thru this thread, heh.
Anyone know a way to turn these off for good? It's a bit annoying/distracting when watching a movie in low light...

[Q]Light Flow - question thread

Thanks mate .
One more question tho - i have set up the mod for charging battery : notif light lights up and stays on all the time while battery is charging.. Can this do any harm to led light or phone itself (heating etc)? Or it is intended so it can stay on for long time ?
I had light flow on my galaxy nexus. Although the features are nice, i uninstalled because it seemed very broken. The led would stay on evwn after i checked notifications and so forth. Yeah it was cool, but just didnt see the risk of burning out my led.
For me it works like charm .. But only think i want to know is this :
Can led stay up for longer time ? Like, for example, the HTC Sensations led is staying up for all time while you are charging (by default), and it doesnt burn out. So is GN led designed to stay up for long time, or no ? (Im asking this because i want to know if i can charge the phone whole night and have led turned up)
Thanks again folx
Yes it can! Start LightFlow, choose notifications"then pick the app of your choice. There you can able and enable (amongst many other options) the duration of how long you wish the led to stay on for that particular app.

LED's have a life of many thousands, if not, tens of thousands of hours. It's unlikely that the notification LED will ever burn out while you own that phone... Unless you keep the phone for six or seven years and keep the led on almost all the time!
If your led burns out consider it akin to winning the lottery.

Thank you all. ! I really like multi colored led.. I liked it on n900 (back in the old days).. I like it again I simply like when im charging the phone to have my led on all the time
Thanks folx
Ive let mine to constantly show an orange light while i leave the phone on charge overnight and a green when it is charged. Led's wont die on you unless you keep your led on for like 6years straight, so nothing to worry about

Yeh I found the same thing, seemed really broken to me, was so annoying to get rid of notifications and then still have the led going off.
Guys just a quick question. I think this led is three colors right? Red, blue, and green and to get other colors it just mixes them right?
If you guys use colors other than those three I mentioned do you guys kind of obviously see that theres more then one color shining?
Like for purple it looks like purple on top and redish on bottom. Clearly like two colors.
Anyone? Just wanna know if its how others have it or just me??

Sure it does
I have Light Flow set up to show a solid yellow color while charging. When I plug in my phone, the LED blinks on then off. If I turn the screen off, the yellow light cones on like it should. If I then turn the screen on without unlocking the phone, the light remains.
Only after I unlock the phone does the LED not function.

I found that problem was because of the ROM I was on. Some ROMS would need me to launch the lightflow app to clear the notification, but I use CND and it works exactly like it is supposed to. I could flash AOKP and it would work how you describe.
Does it have any kind of effect on battery life? Seems like it would keep the phone awake.

I would think that there is only one light source, probably an LED. Typically with these things a clear plastic part routes light to the three buttons from a single source. I would guess that's a hardware issue and if it bothers you (it would me) send it back again.

Spot on. There is a YouTube video somewhere of how to replace the LCD screen, and there is a complicated task of lining up the light guides used for the three buttons, I suspect they just haven't done it very well.
It will not be a software issue.
Regards
Phil
if youre using a custom rom, it may be the rom?
thanks guys,iv only just had it back from being repaired, they put a new lcd and bezel, also new internal battery, they couldnt have lined it up properly as 2 of the buttons light up,just one doesnt and it is annoying, whats even more annoying is having to send it back again? could i play hell and demand a new phone for my inconvenience and being messed about?

they didn't send a replacement after all of that , they just repaired it again (properly though)

[Q] Charging indicator

Is there a way to disable the charging indicator light? It is BLINDING in the dark. The green is a lot worse than the orange too. I know you can change when the light is enabled for notifications like mail/calendar/etc, but I can't find a setting for the charging.
I've got a status bar and a battery widget to see if it's charging. I don't need an LED that blinds me.

I don't know what to tell you, but if that light blinds you, you must have the night vision of a cat. I can't imagine driving down the road at night with your eyes. On that note, good luck to you.

Haha I had an EVO I think it was at one point that was the same way. I have great night vision...and I don't eat *that* many carrots, so I'm not sure. I'm not usually overly sensitive, but I swear that little pin sized light is ridiculous bright.

You're correct, that light is extremely bright, especially as green. I put my phone on the charger last night, and it finished charging while I was laying in bed but not asleep, and when the green came on, it was like night turned into day. The ceiling lit up like a flashlight was aimed at it. When I get a notification and don't feel/hear the vibrate/noise, the light is quite capable of letting me know I get one.

I just submitted a "support" e-mail to HTC and I'm sure they'll say that you can't disable it because people need to know if their phone/charger aren't working. Yeah, that's what the notification bar and widgets are for if you want them. I had to root an EVO to disable the light on that one too, which is entirely lame. I mentioned that the e911 GPS indicator is both unnessary and annoying as well. This is the kind of stuff that drives me to root a phone (not that I can unlock it at the moment because I didnt' get my phone before they locked down the htc dev site), but once there's a root option for me and if I can configure these...I'll do it for that sole purpose.
Ugh.

Ok, so their response from support was to use "Light Manager" which doesn't work (at least non-rooted) as far as I can tell.
Response from them:
I totally understand where you are coming from on this, as I know how important is to have a phone that fully meets your needs.
In this case, you can use a 3rd party application, which will disable this feature from your device. You can check them at google play store.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=light manager
I recommend you verify other user’s comments and rating, that way you choose the best option for your requirement. Please keep in mind that HTC does not support or warranty 3rd party hardware or software and its usage is at your discretion.
I apologize for any inconveniences you may have experience, our main goal is to provide you with the greatest devices and an spectacular HTC experience. I will address your suggestions to the proper department; I can not assure you it will be implemented however we take them to account and appreciate the time you took to contact us.
I look forward to assist you further in case it is needed.

Do you guys face these display issues in your devices?

A70's display treats dark pixels as if they were completely black, and turns them off instead of dimming them. Which leads to difficulty and inability to see dark things properly + distortion of the displayed thing (especially on the lock screen) because a lot of pixels are turned off.
The device has already been updated to the latest software version in Samsung's customer service center.
Here are some pictures and a video showcasing the issue: http://imgur.com/a/w9tLNAJ
Test your device at night or in a place with dim lighting.

I know how AMOLED works, it's just that it's not working correctly. Check out the pics in the link, the screen changes the colors, and turns off way too many pixels.
You have more issues besides pixels turning off. Looks like posterization as well.
I don't have those issues with mine.
