Hi all. Since 6 years am Nokia user. Now I took HTC one v.I am new Android user.am using HTC one v from last week,I felt device is slow compared my old Nokia c-7. Of course its having 1mhz processor but feeling slow. So guys Wats ur opinion??

1ghz*
And try not to install many apps on your device as it will slow it down
And try getting some task killer from store to kill running apps
And wait for the devs to provide root for ur device
Sent from Ice Cream Sony

you can kill some tasks from htc stock app called Task Manager. It should be already in your phone. Im a new user also

DON'T USE TASK KILLERS!!! try factory reset or try replacing it from seller because i think you got a faulty one.

Here at MoDaCo
The modded boot.img you can get it from the link I provided there.
Once you are rooted, more or less you are like having a custom ROM as you can start your own customization. The problem is there is no CWM yet so no nandroid can be made or custom ROM to be flashable. But there is a workaround on that, maybe a dev of custom rom can put the custom ROM as a signed update.zip, so in recovery it will flash the custom ROM.
But to do this, a user must have an official RUU for this phone in hand in case something goes wrong.

Thankss anyway.
Oh ya, why cant i get any skins on customize htc one v. I cant get more skins, i only have 3 which are too ordinary
Sent from my HTC One V using XDA

As stated above, do not use a task killer application. The android OS installed on the device should be able to manage applications correctly already. Using a task killer will just eat up more resources.

But if I don't use then device ll get slow

Then you should use a custom ROM for your cellular provider'.
Wait a couple of weeks and you should be able to use a good custom ROM that someone here has created. It will allow you to do much more than that which was offered stock (for example: improved battery life, faster response, etc... )

I wouldn't mind starting a custom rom but I haven't started as of now as i am in south africa and haven't rooted my phone....Also there is no custom recovery currently..I would make a signed update.zip also but I wouldn't test it and one of you guys would have to test because I wouldn't risk my device until I have a custom recovery(safe way) ....
Let's wait instead...as yorzua couldn't offer me help with cwm I have asked madmaxx82 to try porting 4ext recovery as we have many willing testers including me...

Your better off with a modified version of 4.0.4, it will be faster, have more features and just generally better, browse the One X development thread and see what's there, there is an android 4.1.0 Rom I do believe
I run the HTC Sensation ViperS Rom, theres one for the One X too, Its really fast, extremely customizable but will also look just like the stock Rom with few enhancements, check it out

Don't know why you want to return to stock while frankly stock has issues the custom roms address. Android revolution hd and viperx are based on the new base leaked HTC base 2.05 which increases battery life and tackles over heating issue. And other study. try them out.
After that if you want to return to stock. Flash the correct ruu for the hox available from the market

If the flashing of the custom rom was done perfectly they would have made a backup of the stock rom before flashing the custom rom.
Boot into recovery or use a file manager to see in cwm backups

[Q] questions questions...

Hey all, Sorry for the NOOB question here..
I've come over to a HTC OneV from a Desire Z.. On the DesireZ I had CWM installed and quite happy at installing customroms etc.. Currently my OneV (GSM) is still running stockRom, but it regularly hangs freezes so I thought id try an alternative rom...
Reading through the threads Im kinda confused.. and thought Id ask the experts.
1. On the DesireZ I used to use CWM to install roms, on many of these threads I see fastboot and cwm being mentioned... Am I correct in saying that you can use both? But fastboot is done from the PC , pushing the rom to the phone, whereas CWM is done on the phone itself???
2. The all-in-one tool looks awesome.. still valid?
3. On the desireZ page there was a nice list of "roms", ranked on when they were updated. With OneV, this list appears to be inaccurate.. Simply a case of needs to be updated ??
4. Id love to try CM10, but as I need to use the phone for work I need it to be reliable... is CM10 stable, Loirs rom look good..
Many thanks, Ill avoid asking the standard "Which is the best rom" as I know its horses for courses -)
Again thanks for the time.
Angelo
1.Fastboot is usually to flash a kernal as most roms require a certain kernal that isn't stock, if you want to flash a rom just use CWM,
2.Never tried it...
3.Different forums...Most roms are still in beta anyways,
4.It's good, still in beta but overall is very usable.
Ok bro,
Firstly u can install only kernels through pc,
u have to flash roms in recovery,
and secondly i tried cm10 it can't be used for everyday use,
i currently use cm9 rc3 which is great,i did try the tool kit, it works
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
thanks Guys,
Questions answered
I'll probably stick to either CM9 rc3, I know it well I might try the Suprimo rom as I do like some of the Sense stuff
m telling u cm9 is best
Click thanks if i helped
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Hint taken
Hey cybervibin
As you noted in another thread I successfully rooted and installed CM9, although I did scare myself convinced that Id bricked it with the kernel.. it turns out that the instructions need to be a little clearer, in that you MUST flash the kernel, and then immediately flash Cm9, otherwise it will hang.. its strange that i didnt see this issue with my desireZ, i used the same kernel for over a year...
One feature which doesnt work too well is bluetooth headset, the stock rom works v. well here.. the phone rings and it automagically connects to the bluetooth headset and voice streams.. whereas at the moment, I need to
1. phone rings
2. answer it
3. then press (maybe and hold) button on the headset, then its ok..
this means there's about 3-4 seconds after the call comes in delay.. not a biggie but strange..
Also going from BT to handset/speaker works but not the otherway around...
Is this fixed in RC4??
Next is to find some of the Sense4.0 widgets I liked.. and install them here...
thanks again
Hey man,
See these are unofficial Roms they have their own kernels which is compatible only with that specific ROM....
SO after u fastboot the kernel given in that thread there is no problem,
and so far i have tested the Bluetooth feature it worked pretty fine,
u cant expect it to work perfectly cause its still under. Work,
u should post that problem in the cm9 problem thread
And no RC4 is a security fix u can see the details in the below link

You now have the option of installing a custom recovery and running one of numerous Roms for your phone. Just be sure what you choose is for your model.

There are many apps, system themes, tools and tweaks you can't use unless rooted.
I know Android is highly customizable out of the box, but rooting opens the door and gives you even more control of your device.
Certain apps such a Vibrafix (haptic feedback disabler), AdAway(amazing ad blocker app that uses the same hosts file I have used on my PC for years), Inverted Gapps, and loads of great system maintenance tools that require root, etc, etc.
Welcome to the lovely world of root. I mainly root my phones to out new ROMS on. But they become to damn addictive so be careful lol. Now I just use root to take off all bloatware and ads custom kernels.... Have fun and yes read read read and read again. Before trying anything

Keep back-up of a good, working, configuration, and stick with your S3 variant. The same goes for flashing flashable zips - stick to the ROM you've chosen to flash (obviously this can vary with mods for any AOSP ROM, etc.).
General rule of thumb. I just rooted and flashed Slim Bean on my girlfriends S3, so I'm new to the S3 community too. Hoping I can find a solid AOSP build to flash on her phone.
Thread moved to Q&A.
@ OP, Do you see a general sense of the responses you're are getting? Reading, Reading, Reading is key. All of your questions are fundamental Android questions. You need to look into recoveries, root apps, different ROMs/Kernels - all of which can be found with a simple XDA or Google Search.
And please do not open and thread about, "Which ROM is the best?" or "What is your favorite ROM/Kernel combo?". Best advice I can give is to read a few OPs in the Dev section and if you find one that you like, check out the last 10 pages or so for bugs. Narrow it down to one that you want, then start reading.

Bingo.
Like yourself, I am new to the rom flashing scene. Once I get my phone set up exactly how I want it, I do a Nandroid.
After that, I do a standard backup at least ocne a week of my apps and their data.
Alot of backup apps will provide the ability to merge backups. This is a great feature because I could uninstall an app today that I like for some reason, and a few days from here when I do my next app backup, instead of having to reinstall it before the backup, it's already carried forward in the merged backup.
Just do your research before you flash ANYTHING!!!!!!. Any terms that you dont understand, just google. This is an awesome site, almost everything is already covered. Welcome to the darkside......or something.

You dont loose the apps. They are saved in your google account so you can use them in any device.
Also, you can try Android Revolution HD 17. From what I see its the most downloaded ROM that is identical to stock! I also use it and its very very good!

If you mean return to samsung for claim warranty, then your binary count must zero ( use triangle away with stock recovery) and status of phone must be *official*. ( refer dr.ketan method).
Regarding to tweak the battery life and speed, I think is better you keep away of it, if you noob like myself. Without specific knowledge might broken the stable and balancing of the the rom itself.

[Q] Problems with Stock ROM, and recommendations for a non-android User.

Hello Everyone!
First of all I want to say that this is not directly help for me, but for my girlfriend. I dont know you guys, but she is tired of her stock ROM since it freezes a lot of times, and yes, I have checked it, I tried updating, hardreset...etc and after a week the phone gets a lot of performance issues.
So my question is, I would like a modified ROM from the official last update if it exist, I mean that everything is working on the phone and it is of course faster than stock phone. This is not a questions "which is the best" nope, I just want to hear your reccommendations because I am not a user of this phone and I dont know very well all different versions etc. Furthermore I have read a lot on the forums, and i have a small idea what could work for this case.
for example:
Since this is a mod from a Stock ROm, It shoudnt has any problem, Isnt it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400633
My big concern is that Im not the user of the phone, and you now what happens with "users" if something is not working...

You can use WinDroid 2.0 toolkit. If u want good ROM... Ignorance is really good but try something from higher shelf HTCdroid. It's the best ROM for HTC One V! The smoothest and the fastest. But a lot of ROMs has one issue. Data usage doesn't work... Why? I don't know I'm working on it but here is one ROM what haven't got it it's MoDaCo.one Ir2 here it works. But it's outdated so use newer ROM like Ignorance!

If you are tired of sense shpongle is the way to go. If you are okay with it, pick htcdroid. Both best in its classes. Htcdroid seems bugless or only minor bugs visible while shpongle got camera dead - you need 3rd party apk.
