HTC One X Screen Protector - HTC One X

Hi guys, recently I got two official HTC screen protectors which I applied terribly and removed. Could anyone kindly suggest a certain screen protector or other form of protection which is working well for them? I have the official HTC pouch and back cover too.

I'm waiting for a film protector, such as..

Thanks for telling me about film protectors, are they better than screen protectors, and if they are, in what way are they better?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Film protectors offer better protection & are less likely to peel off at the corners if caught.
Most film protectors actually take a bit of strength to remove.
They are not a dry application, (which I prefer), meaning a can constantly work st it to get it perfect.
Pushing out the water is a much easier way of removing bubbles than on a dry skin.
Films have self-healing technology whereas 'standard screen protectors' do not, this means if scratched - by tomorrow at the latest, that scratch is gone.
Either way, im waiting for a wet application protector, Skinomi have said they are waiting for the release date (not out in the states yet grrr)
I'll just have to be careful til then I think.
Although gorilla glass 2 should be fine without a screen protector, I'd feel a whole lot better with one!

It'll only take a small drop of water which will spread across the screen when the film is applied. As long as you're careful not to get water leak into the holes, there won't be any damage. Apply the drop of water closer to the bottom just in case, since the speaker grill and camera holes are at the top of the screen.
Usually, though, the protectors will come with a 'installation solution' in a convenient, spray-bottle.

I'll be grabbing a Wrapsol Ultra (dry application) when they're available for mine. Had one on my galaxy s2 and I swear by them now.

i used the HTC ones and put it on perfect no problem, only reason its a little tricky is that it only has one tab and not one each side :/ but then i got a replacement x and didn't do the second one so well but meh i can get more at a latter date

This is a great screen, even better than my SG2.
I never put one on my SG2 and had no major issues with scratches on the display.
I have used my HTC One X now for almost two weeks now, with no screen protector and there is not a single blemish on my screen.
I won't be putting any screen protector on my device, as they always distract from the full experience of the display, IMO!
You can put one on if you like, but you don't need one on this device.

I picked up a One X yesterday from the T-Mobile store and today noticed it had like two tramline scratches across the screen..you can feel them if you run your fingernail over them....although the phone was of course sold as new, the sim removal tool was detached from the plastic and there was fingermarks on the glass underneath the plastic cover they put on them.
Thankfully T-Mobile are sending a replacement on Tues as it also keeps jamming up...back to using my Sensation XE for a bit. Hopefully as they asking for the entire box back they will be sending out a new phone and not a refurb, if they exist yet.
Only thing I can think is a faulty return handset made it into the new stock by mistake.
Still curious how you could mark the glass in this way though !

Yup, Gorilla Glass is harder to scratch, but by no means impossible, and can possibly still be scratched fairly easily. Coming from another device with GG (and hearing reports on other GG phones that I don't own), there have been plenty of people reporting scratching GG with normal use; while others claim pristine GG even after significant abuse and drops.
To each his own, its a matter of how much you prefer the bareback look and feel, versus having some protection. But to me, a good quality screen protector has very little change in feel, little or no change in the look; and its better to have the protection rather than end up with permanent scratches and regret. Good screen protectors also don't build up fingerprint smudges as easily as bare glass.

I'm using mumbi CrystalClear over here and it does a pretty well job. Though it looks like the protector is too small for the screen, you quickly learn that it has to be this way because the display is curved at the edges.
Love it or not, I guess most display protectors will look like this

No, wet application screen protectors wil cover everything.
It's similar to the Galaxy Nexus with the curved glass, only wet application ones will keep all the edges etc...smooth and perfect.
And yea, to people who think that just because it's gorilla glass it's not going to scratch. A tiny grain of sand is enough to give it an annoying blemish. You don't need a case IMO, but a screen protector is always a must.

They have it available now..

I just ordered mine, best looking screen protectors out there imo..now if I could just get that dreaded sim card issue fixed.

Can you recommend some screen protector without sticky surface? I bought cheap Insmat dry application protector, but it's not a perfect fit. A bit too large so sides won't stick and hard to get bubbles away. I would also like to have more slippy surface..

Haven't heard anything but is it needed? I dropped my Desire HD flat on a marble floor for instance and the scratches just wiped off, gorilla glass is fantastic, and with the One X it's Gorilla Glass 2 which I guess should be even better.

There is no scratch-proof material. Over time a lot of hairline scratches develop on any surface, especially if you keep the phone in your pocket all the time like I do; and I hate my gear looking worn.
The wife's Wildfire S (which has Gorilla Glass) has a couple of scratches on the screen already, most of them not bad with the backlight on but one is clearly visible so I don't believe the hype of GG... My Desire has a full body InvisibleShield on from day one and still looks pristine under it; not to mention the skin provides a great grip on the phone surface which saved me many times from dropping the phone accidentally.
I'm definitely ordering a full body Shield once I pick up my One X. It's well worth a few quids to keep my stuff looking great.
Skinomi is selling one for the One X. It's also a film-type screen protector. I have one on my Jetstream and I think it's better than invisible shield. It has a lot smoother surface.

The first question you should be asking is whether you need a screen protector for this phone...HOX comes with gorilla glass which can resist scratches and other atrocities better than any screen protector in the market...so why spend money on such things..besides a screen protector makes the screen look even worse..

Look around in some of the previous screen protector threads. Many users have reported getting small scratches on the screen. Therefore I think a screen protector is essential. Screen protectors can degrade the quality a little, but clear type ones do not take that much away. I am a big fan of matte screen protectors (they are the worst in terms of screen quality degradation) but what good is a screen if its filled with finger prints and cant read under glare ? I personally prefer a legible clean screen over a sharper smudgy one. So quality is a highly subjective matter. Unfortunately I didn’t come across a wet install type matte screen protector yet, so I went with a clear type one. To my surprise it does quite well repelling fingerprints. Better than not having one.

Scratching and breaking are two different things. I'm sure the screen is pretty tough, but that doesnt mean its scratch proof.
@OP
Most regular (dry install) type screen protectors wont fit properly with the curved edges of One X, therefore some manufacturers (i.e: SGP) make them much smaller than the actual screen size; but the problem is then you can clearly see the edge of the protector. I’d recommend a wet install type instead, they usually go right to the edge and don’t cause bubbling. I am using this. Its pretty good for the price.

Gorilla glass is NOT scratch proof is scratch resistant, and it can be scratached: my motorola milestone , my inspire 4g had gorilla glass and trust they got scratched, even my galaxy s ii got some tiny scratches, and i have read tons of reports of the one x gettin micro scratches so id like an screen protector

Ive done a bit more reasearch, the ZAGG HD is sold ONLY through bestbuy , and the sgp protectors for the one x are only dry applications, not wet but what-s the difference between the flex and the oleophobic?
oleophobic resists the oil from your hands and is supposed to smudge less. You can get zagg HD from their web site cheaper than what you can buy them for at best buy. I ordered the Spigen slim case for mine and it came with an oleophobic screen protector. It was easy to apply but I happen to like SPG's screen protectors.
Which one covers the whole screen and is hardest to tell that it Its there. Also one that gives most protection

Experience with screen protectors

I have applied the HTC screen protector. It is okay but the capacitive buttons seem to have lost sensitivity. The feeling of the surface is okay but not as good as some matt protectors i have used on other devices. Anyone tried any matt or anti glare protector yet?

I'm finding the same with the HTC protectors. Home and Back often need a couple of prods to register. Also, I dunno if it was slightly too big by a mm or so, but they don't seal down the edges properly and make it look fugly.
I've ordered some other cheap-brand ones to try with instead...
I found the HTC official ones a pile of crap
Both ended up in the bin, wouldnt stick at the edges of the phone and were terrible. Amazon UK now has a few bad reviews for them, when I ordered before the phone arrived there were none. Re ordered some others, they can't be worse than the HTC ones

The screen protector is not too matt and as usual assume you'll make a mistake with the first one. The size is very precise and you do need to line-up with the edges carefully to make sure the screen protector is sealed all round. Much better than the HTC ones.

Size wise - perfect width, but too short on length, around 2mm. Pretty matte alright. Looks like nice anti-fingerprint.
Worst part though - it adds something like "RGB grain/noise" to your screen, which is clearly visible especially on white background. Total disaster... And it's visible even from normal viewing distance... I will try to add some photos later.
It's only quick temporary solution for me, before I will get Spigen Ultra Clear.
I previously had HTC oem screen protector on this phone ...poor adhesion and grease magnet. I bought this matte screen protector from imyth at Amazon UK. Good fit, easy application and cheap...only about £2 for a pack of 5. Yes, there is a little brush noise when swiping but I would have that with any matte protector - sgp too. I am happy with it. Good clear image, looks professional and less fuss with fingerprints. Plus it is an eighth of the price of my usual sgp ultra optics.
Here is the imyth seen with and without double dip case (below):

Anyone got scratches on their screen WITHOUT protector?

Hey guys.
I bought around 4-5 cases for my HTC one so far. but in the end, NOTHING beats the HTC one naked in your hand, so i bought an invisibleshield protector for it .
But i dont like the screen protector. so im wondering, people using the phone with no screen protector, have you got any scratches on it? or does the Gorilla glass really work?
It works to a certain extent. Gorilla Glass is rated about 5-6H hardness. That will save you from most metals. Sand/stones will definitely scratch the glass as they can contain Quartz, which is 7H. Glas.t is rated for 8-9H so even those won't scratch it.
No scratches on mine so far. Like the poster above said, just watch out for certain sand/minerals cause they are hard enough to scratch the screen.
My last phone had GG as well, dont remember if it was 1 or 2, but it had a bunch of tiny scratches in one spot, turns out it was my earring (which is made of quartz) scratching it every time i used it.
So now I only answer my phone with my right hand lol, since my left ear is pierced.
I got mine about a month ago, and I still didnt get a screen protector..
no scratches yet..
I have a case but no screen protector. I'm not sure how but I have a very small scratch on my screen
Running naked for a couple of months. Not one single scratch. Most durable screen I have had on a phone.

I would suggest the Glas.tr. It feels fantastic, doesn't scratch or get fingerprints on it.
Looks great and works with almost any case because of the rounded edges.

Actually, keys cant scratch your screen. The metals they're made of are too soft compared to GG.
Its sand and rocks that will scratch up your phone if they ever find a way into your pockets. in other words.. better be careful at the beach.
They get into your pocket anyway, even some particals of dirt on flooring at hard enough to cause scratches. When I get my one ill probably get the glas screen protectors and take off after a month or 2

Keep your phone in its own pocket with nothing else in it and don't lay it face down and rub it all over **** and you'll be fine. I've had four android phones so far, never used a screen protector, and never got a scratch on any of them.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
I'm not too sure as to how I got my scratches either but I do have two on the screen. I usually keep my phone in it's own pocket or at most it would be with my car key fob which shouldn't scratch it.. But otherwise I think it's just from normal use, maybe some sand or something. Thinking about jumping on the Glas.tr protector though.
It might well be alright without a protector; the glass is certainly quite resilient, and what others say is quite true-- short of sand, quartz, and other hard minerals, you're usually good to go. My problem is just that you never know when that kind of muck get get into your pocket, or onto a table, or anywhere. More importantly for me is keeping the screen clean from fingerprints and other gunk, so I picked up a matte screen protector just now and I am incredibly pleased with it.
I previously tried a Spiegen SGP UltraCrystal, but although it was unbelievably clear (indeed, many people who handled the phone were astonished to learn that there was a screen protector on the device at all), it picked up fingerprints like nobody's business. I was quite disappointed, especially after the huge success of my Armorsuit Militaryshield for my Galaxy Nexus. But matte is definitely the way to go.
Spigen makes a nice screen cover that's glass itself haven't tried it personally but about ready to.

I used some Matte protectors off ebay , but they were crap, they took away all the qaulity of the screen. I personally do prefer matte ones, but cant find any decent ones.
bought this one, if its german it must be good lol.

Got a small scratch on the top right part of the screen. Noticed it after 6 days of use with a tpu case and no screen protector. But I don't like screen protectors, got myself a spigen leather flip case which protects the screen when I kept my phone in pocket. Looking for a spigen glast, as I can't get it right away from US.

It'll get stratches which CANT BE seen by naked eye, only when exposed to direct light. So if you are okay with it don't use protector.

Is there a screenprotect on the Oneplus 2 from factory?

Hi all,
I got my OP2 Yesterday!
I looked on amazon for some accessories. When i looked my phone a bit closer it looks like there already is a screenprotector on the display.
Someone else discovered that?
Thx.
Yep, they started with this with the OPO and carried it on with the 2
Yup, also got me thinking could I just slap a tempered protector over the top and have double protection lol
A number of people have been removing it thinking it's just transportation protection, it is a fingerprint magnet though.
yes
yes it has. and very well applied, that you can not notice it.
Yes, and it was scratched within a couple of days for me. I was gonna replace with the cheapest one I could find, which strangely enough was a tempered glass one form amazon.
I just replaced mine with an Orzly tempered glass SP and I'm quite impressed tbh
Just swapped it for a tempered glass one and the difference is huge, so much smoother and clearer with proper colours being shown. Yellow tinge has gone as well and screen is alot crisper

Thats what I thought too
But I had my tempered glass one ready before getting my OPT so I just installed it right away.
i have buy tempered glass from ebay and now i thinking don't want to install it until original protector is working
Yes OP2 has built in screen guard confirmed by company itself. no need to go for screen guard except if we want tampered screen
When I replaced mine for a tempered glass product the first thing I noticed is the quality difference. If your gonna spend lots of money on a phone then your gonna want to protect the screen. Saying that you can get away with stock screen protector if you have a leather flip case and your careful. I actually only replaced mine today because I purchased a bugdroid case from Amazon which by the way looks awesome. Anyway I hope this helps.

I replaced the original screen protector with a tempered glass one because it was too fingerprint-y. The nice thing is this was the first time that I've been able to apply a screen protector with absolutely no bubbles or dust stuck underneath. Having the original protector on makes it such a clean slate for applying a new one.
It comes with a screen protector on it. Just remove it and get a tempered glass protector it's better

Ya its just a normal plastic one. I kept mine on until my orzly tempered glass came.
