Where is the official Cyanogen ROM thread ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I see a ton of ROM threads based off tweaked versions of CM9, but is there an official straight up official CyanogenMod thread from the main developers themselves for the Galaxy Nexus ?

1. go on dev section
2. search CyanogenMod 9 (only 1 thread have this string in the title)
3. ?????
4. profit
(that the nighlty (experimental) thread, because there is no RC and no stable yet)

Like andQlimax said, there are no release candidates or stable builds compiled by CM team members yet. However if you have a look in the development section there is a dedicated (nightly) thread maintained by Imfloflo who compiles from the CM teams Github as it's updated. It is 100% CM, just compiled by someone that's not a member of the team.

hi,
i am coming from nexus s and really wondering, why there is no official cm9 for galaxy nexus?! a nexus not supported, times are changing...
but however, thanks for the infos regarding the nightlies! as far as i know these, they are not necessarily stable. so my question is, the ones provided, are they for daily use already, or is it a question of testing, as i went through the cm9 nightlies experience so far?

The latest nightlies are stable enough for everyday use, at least for me and bunch of other forum members.

It's because the nex is ICS, not GB. As it's still in nightlies and hasn't had an RC yet, no phones are supported in CM9, officially....
But the nightlies are definitely stable enough: I haven't had any major problems for ... well ... ever.
And here's the link to the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398495

i see, well, i did already have problems with nightlies, more than once!
of course it's not the big deal, because you simply flash another one...but actually i am too old for this sh*t!
i am going to stay with the aokp milestone 5 for now, seems to be quite a nice one...and stable!

Apparently CM9 is in a code freeze with an RC1 expected within the week.

Too many Similiar ROMs

Hey fellow XDA members
Like many of you, I'm a really frequent ROM flasher, and every now and then, I find my phone on a CM9 or AOKP ROM. When the first CM9 and AOKP ROMs came for the One X, everyone, including me, were obviously excited. But over the past week or so, there are now just too many CM9 ROMs and a few AOKP ROMs as well.
According to my short research, there are at the moment 4 CyanogenMod 9 ROMs for the HTC One X, all of them being unofficial. I really appreciate what the people are doing, but the thing is, that not only are us flashers confused, but if the Devs worked together, all the bugs and kinks can be ironed out much much faster and easily.
There are 4 CyanogenMod 9 ROMs (in chronological order):
1) Interpresentation's CM9
2) Owain94's Domination CM9
3) TripNRaVeR's CM9
4) tbalden's CM9
Also, there are two AOKP ROMs:
1) nycbjr's AOKP
2) the|gamer's AOKP
Wouldn't it be better for us if there was one AOKP ROM and maybe 1 or 2 CM9 ROMs? What if these devs worked together? And produced one complete functional ROM instead of many? It would also be better for us flashers, won't it?
Hit thanks if you are in support.
@Mods, I'd really appreciate it if you let this post stay in the Development section as those are the audience I target with this.
I'd really appreciate it, just doing what I think is right
Cheers,
-theDroidfanatic
That's because many of them want to add special features, others prefere "stock" CM9, Slim made a CM9 "AOKPized", with light files and great optimizations. That's the reason why we won't have only 1 or 2 AOSP roms, devs don't want to work together...
Check my comparison thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709962
Not all devs are "group" person
Some like to work alone
Some doesn't want to share their work
Some doesn't want to share their tweaks/customizations
.
.
.
You'll never have unified group of devs?..
Why didn't you ask for sense devs to group?
I like bigger choice of devs/roms
Sent from my HTC One X
I see your point for posting the thread in the dev section, however, this doesn't make it the right place
So moved to general.
@Topic: Of course it would be better if everyone was working on one single build.
But due to the nature of humans and their egos, this won't happen.
So just enjoy the little differences between the builds and wait until someone fixed the errors and the rest can apply these fixes too.
It's slow but steady

Poll Vote for the best CyanogenMod 9 Rom here

Hi with so many cyanogenMod 9 roms out there now and to help new comers choose between roms I thought I would start a poll to help decide which is better as the roms progress with newer builds.I will add new roms as they come hope this helps people to choose thanks.
why is this a checkbox poll? it should be radio buttons, since there can only be 1 "best"
I voted for Domination.. :good::good::good:
TeamNDVRu. The only build without any camera issues (not focusing on faces).

Voted for TeamNDVRu. A2DP works only in this rom.
TeamNDVRu gets my vote mainly for having updates nearly on a daily basis, and feels pretty close to being an official nightly.
I also love team ndvru release it feels clean fash stable and most important it works.
What, TeamNDVRu? Which one is that?
Edit: nwm found it
instead of 5 versions of Cyangen, fixing the same problems over and over, they should be working together to make ONE Cyangen that actually works......

Why didn't you include the first CM9 that was available on xda, and the only one that has nightly builds? (Intrepresentation's originally and then picked up by tgascoigne)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661629
And I don't think Domination is really a "CM9" build, rather a Based-on-CM9 since it has many extra features and has differed significantly from a stock CM9 install (not that there is anything wrong with that).
The TeamNDVRu is the best, but the Endeavor Unleashed isn't bad
You got that spot on

THIS.
Choice is good, naturally but too many of the same thing and it doesn't benefit anyone in the end. In principle, competition may be good but it's almost like two stores under selling each other to get the customers or the glory or what have you.
If one team comes up with a solution, and the others copy it? then who is really benefiting here? where's the innovation in other releases?
These teams should really work together and find a FINAL CM9 build and THEN based their future ROMs on this official unofficial CM9 ROM.

CM9 Stable

Looks like the G2 (Desire-Z) will not be getting CM9 stable as I have been keeping an eye on this list since last week's launch:
http://get.cm/?type=stable
Does anyone in this dev thread know why? I know there are unofficial RCs and the nightlies, but I avoid them and only go for stable. I was hoping it would get ICS stable but it appears 7.2 Gingerbread will be this device's final stable ROM.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

We don't have the needed drivers/source code HTC backed out on us. Aside from that though Mimicry is VERY stable I'd recommend flashing it!
Many roms past GB are very stable now. From Sense 4.0, to ICS, to even JB nightlies are reportedly smooth.
I use this ICS as a daily driver and it's very stable (AOKP): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642443
JB nightlies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605016 Weren't stable when I tried them, but I hear they're really good now. Might try later this week.
It all has to do with drivers being released or something from Qualcomm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822694
I don't know if it's true. The thread doesn't provide much information, maybe someone can clarify.
Are the drivers really released and being incorporated into roms? People are saying they are already being used in those JB nightlies.
As for not being out officially by CM... I don't even think they started working on it.

There are no official CM9 roms for the vision. The unofficial roms (Andromadus & the one by jerl92) are the closest thing, but they are only based on Cm9, not released by or associated with the actual Cyanogenmod team. The reason there even is a CM9 based rom is thanks to Andromadus.
That said, Mimicry will have a new version out this week based on the repo for CM9 stable. The non-device specific code anyway, the other branches are of course unofficial and not supplied by the CyanogenMod team.

Yes, the qualcomm drivers have always been incorporated into Andromadus roms as soon as they're available. Since the other roms are based on Andromadus (AOKP, jerl92's), they also incorporate the new drivers.

The word around the Cyanogenmod Google+ site is that its coming but that it will take some time given that the drivers need to basically be written from scratch. This is a list of devices that are being droppped from any further releases of CM past CM7. The vision is not included on the list so you could say there is a glimmer of hope but I guess you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Only mentions of the DesireZ/G2 in that posting is in the comment section, they're probably talking bout semi-newer devices. I still think we have a better chance of getting it 'fully' working under the Andramadus team's effort (still cM9 but probably the best it's going to be for our devices). ie: if drivers are written from scratch, it most likely won't be done by the CM team, but will probably be incorporated into their project when done.

Thats the point. Its not listed among those which are being discontinued and most of those devices are over 2 years old. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to take anything away from the Andramadus team. I'll probably end up giving mimicry a run soon. I'm just trying to point out that the door hasnt been officially shut yet on this device as far as an official cm9 build goes.

Though here's something to think of: There is only one, I repeat one HTC device that is officially supported by Cyanogenmod 9. IF newer HTC devices aren't getting it, I doubt even more that a 2+ year old device would.

CM10.1 Stable?

Hey guys, im currently running CM10 (stable build). I was just wondering if anyone knows when the official stable build of CM10.1 will be released?? I know plenty of people run the nightlies and find those fairly stable, but i would like final, stable build of it. So if anyone could maybe speculate when it might be out, thank would be great! Also, if anyone could recommend a finished and officially stable build of any other 4.2+ ROM(s) that would be awesome as well.
Thanks a ton guys!:good:
Stop posting the same thread over again...you just made a similar post about 4.1.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187790) with in 30 minute of each other....what mt3g told you in there is no different from what you will be told in here.
stability is matter of personal opinion and the device in your hand...
do what the rest of us did..look in the BIBLE thread to find ALL the links to ALL of the different forms of roms and TRY them out like what the rest of us did. this will allow you to find whats best for you....do not put yourself in situations where you are easily flamed. I mean it can't be easier than that, all the links are in one thread...best guide for lazy people and those who do not want to do any research
this is no different, then those '"crap" threads. This is just an opinion cause your idea of stable is different then mine. Make the OP more clear with what you are looking for, if anything. The best answer is TRY THEM OUT lol.

[Q] [CM11] Why it is still UnOFFICIAL on GNEX Dev. Thread?

Hey , If you check Gnex Dev. Thread , then there is no official cm11 thread yet. Its showing [Unofficial] only. But Nightlies are present on get.cm !!! What is the reason ?
Unofficial threads are home to unofficial CM builds that potentially merge important changes ahead of official builds. Last I checked, even the current Nexus family (N4, N5, N7, N10) all don't have their official threads at all.
Seriously, even if there exists one, all we could see are noobs posting gazillions of "bugs" and complaints about NIGHTLIES. What's the point of it, then?

the UNOFFICIAL version is from playfulgod and it has some things ahead from the CM11 Nightlies. You should test is, I prefer the UNOFFICIAL one.
