Lumia 900 and network - Nokia Lumia 900

So I've been thinking about jumping ship from Verizon and the galaxy nexus for the lumia 900. How are you current owners liking it and is the lte network on att as fast as Verizon's? I'm waiting for the white version to come out so I have til them for my mind to be made. Thanks for reading and any input!

as far as speed, unless you live on a at&t lte area, Verizon will be faster. They have fairly good lte. As far as the phone, I'm not a fan of the galaxy nexus, so to me the lumia wins out.
To each his own. If you're a modder, stick with android. If you're a normal phone user, you might want to give WP a shot.

Thank you. I live San Antonio and get 15-25 down on Verizon. I've once had a WP Samsung focus. I enjoyed it all but found myself missing a big app pool

Galaxy Nexus sitting the sidelines in Korea?

So I was at Coex Mall in Seoul a few hours ago and walked through the Samsung display area. It's an open area--maybe 10m by 3--used as a permanent installation to display Samsung's newest products. They had about 9 LTE Galaxy Notes, a few Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTEs, and a smattering of Galaxy II HD LTEs.
I realize a few hours later that the only Nexus there was the one in my pocket.
My guess is because the LTE Note has gotten such dismal press:
http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/lte-samsung-galaxy-note-isnt-welcome-in-korea-62212571.htm
Koreans love their styli and big screen PMPs, but even handwriting recognition and a large, beautiful screen to watch their DMB isn't enough to outweigh the expensive LTE plans and the gimped Snapdragon legs it runs on. It's sold horribly as a result. KT (another carrier) has even gone to the lengths of offering unlimited 3g data plans during a limited promotion to boost sales.
So I guess it makes sense that the Nexus has been benched from this promotional spot. It's gotten good press, and is selling like hotcakes (I can't find a damned case for this phone ANYWHERE. They're being bought faster than they can put them out). I suppose that the Nexus doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the Galaxy family. It's like the normal quiet kid genius in a family of flashy, loud mouthed celebrities.
I suppose this is more of a Galaxy Note issue than a Galaxy Nexus issue, but I thought it would be an interesting thing to share with a community that has given so much to me.
Nice to hear from someone else here in Korea ^^
Here in Daegu, it's been a little different. The Nexus, like you said, can't be found anywhere. The Samsung stores here said they won't be getting anymore in this year. As for the Note, its sold out here too, but they do have a steady stream of them coming in.
I can't find a case or anything either. I'm using a GS II HD screen protector and found a Dell Streak pouch on Gmarket for now.

I'm interested in buying the Nexus here in Korea but I can only find the non-LTE version. Does anyone know if there are plans to sell the LTE version in Korea?

Doubt it. The only LTE version that has been made is for Verizon US.
I saw the Nexus LTE version in the GALAXY shop (near the Megabox cinema) in Coex mall about 2 weeks ago. They only had three units and the crowds were ignoring them for the Note.

Not saying you're wrong, but as far as I know there is no LTE version except the Verizon variant. The GNexus is available for KT or SKT and both have WCDMA and GSM antennas.

Sorry, my mistake. I meant to say CDMA (not LTE).

While searching around I found this:

http://www.tmonews.com/2012/01/new-t-mobile-roadmap-indicates-upcoming-device-launch-release-dates/
it says two phones released on the 15th of February, do u guys think this could be the GSM GN?
I have to wait for t mo to drop the GSM, so I am just lookin 2 c when.

Well if anything I'm waiting for best buy to sell the GSM Galaxy Nexus. But the Tmobile thing would be great as I could get it with a 2 year contract upgrade hence being less money.
I hope Tmobile does get it because of that.

Well for one, it would probably be news everywhere by now, and for T-Mobile to sell it it has to clear the FCC.. and such has not happened yet so that automatically pushes it back a few months if T-Mobile ever gets it

Also.. just because they were the first doesn't really mean anything.. There is no news of anyone carrying the phone stateside outside of Verizon and Sprint.

Just wondering.. how come you're waiting for Best Buy to have it? A GSM carrier such as T-Mobile and AT&T needs to offer it. And from rumors, AT&T wants to remove the pentaband off GSM Galaxy Nexus (not sure why). You'll also have to pay tax.
Buying it from Expansys or Negri will give you one-year warranty. Also, you won't have to pay taxes.
@joshnichols189: That is true about the FCC. Just wish we had the full information on Verizon's exclusivity and what it really meant in full terms.
Exclusivity really hurts the customer in the long-run.
Just figured since T-Mobile had been the first network in the U.S. to get things rolling for Android that they wouldn't have such a big problem convincing Google to provide the Galaxy Nexus to their network. Not to mention, it wouldn't take much effort since the phone supports pentaband (4G on their network already). But T-Mobile may want the Snapdragon processor so the phone is 100% compatible with 41Mbps (theoretically) to market the phone.
It's funny because the people working at Google were giving away the GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus rather than the CDMA one for Christmas.
Because my mother (the one who will technically purchase the phone) doesn't want to buy one from overseas.
So being able to go to best buy and get it would be preferred, and when I say the GSM version I do mean international (UK) because I don't need the LTE radio and it also causes problems
Sent while thinking about my Galaxy Nexus
Edit: still @ same price to ship one from UK as was upon release?

You're not buying one from overseas (well.. they come from overseas but when you buy they dont ship from overseas at time of purchase). When you purchase off Amazon, Newegg, Negri Electronics, Expansys or whatever the phones are already in their warehouses ready to be shipped as long as payment is done.
Even some Frys stores are selling the phone in stores.
There are only two variants of the phone: toro (CDMA/LTE) and maguro (GSM). The maguro variant is a pentaband phone meaning it supports 4G on BOTH AT&T and T-Mobile (HSPA+ 21Mbps theoretical speeds).
And no prices are not the same. They've been dropping because a White version of Galaxy Nexus is coming along with 32GB GSM versions.
Right I would need the Maguro..
So what's the cheapest for 16GB Black at the moment?

New Devices: Galaxy Nexus, HTC Evo 4G LTE & Galaxy Note - Will YOU Switch?

With all the new Android devices coming to Sprint, will you be making the switch to one of them?
Samsung Galaxy Nexus - April 15?
HTC EVO 4G LTE - May-June?
Samsung Galaxy Note - 2nd Quarter?
Leave some feedback, I'm interested in if anyone would give up this awesome device we already have for one of the new ones!

Definetely not the Nexus. Our phones have much better specs than the Nexus. That camera is horrible in quality.
I'd get the Note if it doesn't take too long to come out. Otherwise, I'd just wait for the SG3 in September.
im not gonna upgrade but if i were too then htc evo 4g lte no doubt. note is almost a year old and so is the nexus. evo brings in new tech
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium the note is the su snapdragon then no. Higher resolution with a not so powerful gpu =less performance on games and I play alot
Nope. I will consider the GSIII. If Sprint's variant tickles my nads then I'll sell my GSII and buy it. Otherwise, I'll be waiting for 2013's lineup.
until I get lte on my Area.... im fine with my wimax and won't go back to 3g that goes from 5kbps to 2 mbps.. .
I played with the Note at At$t and it was extremely laggy. Anyone else notice? I'll wait for the SG3...

ill prob wait for the S3 not a big fan a of having a monster phone in my back pocket and as for nexus and evo i dont have lte in my are so its pointless. still loving my s2.
Most likely waiting for the SG3 as well, but will honestly just have to wait and see. If the SG3 really isn't being released until September then it's likely I'll pick up another phone in the interim just for the newness. But I love my E4GT so it's going to take a LOT to sway me.
First off i want to thank god that i am a sprint employee i will prolly go with the note and then the GSIII
When Sprint kicks me off their network for the constant 3g Data roaming (ever since I moved 6 months ago) I'll be getting either Galaxy Note or Galaxy Nexus on AT&T.
(AT&T makes more sense in my situation because all my family and my wife's family are on AT&T as well).

^Mine doesn't! It's been solid all around since day 1. :good:
At this point in time the gsm Nexus is one of the best deals around. I've been kicking myself for a while now for going with verizon and not prepaid. $350 for the phone and $50 or less a month for service is crazy cheap compared to Verizon or any other postpaid.
The way google did everything, I suspect they planned on this phone hitting its stride 6-8 months after it's release. When the unsubsidized price dropped to reasonable levels, BAM they put it up for sale themselves and put Jellybean on it making the Nexus a superphone that is semi affordable.
I don't get plagued by all these radio issues people talk about.
Having a GSM Nexus isn't possible for me so I'm happy with my CDMA Nexus and I don't think any less or more of the GSM variant.
If only At&t would offer unlimited data I would never have this CDMA crap again.

I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus and I agree with you guys even though I have no rational proof to support my claim.
Please indulge my anecdotal justification instead:
It feels like the GSM versions are better supported, maybe not in the dev community (it still seems like all of the development who provide updates also have GSM versions and I'm very curious to know if any of them use the VZW version as their main phone.) That may or may not be the case but CDMA support from manufacturers seems to be an afterthought at times. VZW doesn't even get some of the nicer phones sometimes. They really came through with getting us the original Droid though. That was a great phone. I haven't had a phone yet that I've liked as much as I liked the Droid when it was new.
I still have to point out that where I live my VZW Nexus still gets me more reliable service (even with its assinine bounces between 3g/LTE in my office) than anyone using a phone on any other carrier. Having a great flashy phone with the latest updates does little good if you can't get online. Sure my coworker gets 40MB/s up and down when he's at the north side of our building but he has to tether to me if he wants to get online where we spend most of the day.
If I spent a lot of time where I could get reliable GSM connections at the price I'm paying VZW with my discount, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Question bout galaxy nexus

I have had a nexus one since day one. Love it and still runs smooth. Was thinking of getting a galaxy nexus. From the folks that had the gn for awhile should I make the move. And what's best prices out there? And can the verizon be unlocked for Cincinnati bell? Thanks for any info.

Best price you can get would be from Google the unlocked GSM version on the Play Store is 350$ which is nice considering any other unlocked GSM is hitting the 600 or so at least that i've seen. It is a huge upgrade from that phone seriously though that is an old phone! I think you will be quite pleased with the Gnex especially coming from the Nexus one. If Cincinnati Bell is a GSM type deal i dont think so Verizon's is CDMA even though the SIM is not embedded you cant just stick whatever SIM you want and it will work.

Cincinnati Bell uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile so you want an unlocked GSM model. IMHO you can't beat the $350 for a NEW device direct from Google.

Ditch verizon for the $350 unlocked GSM Nexus from Google Play (No, the verzion can't be unlocked for CB, it's not even gsm.)
Be sure to check out the prepaid plans for (usually) the best cost. Here's the most popular t-mobile one around these parts, supplemented with google voice.
Also, if you're satisfied enough with what you have right now, you can wait a few months for the next nexus. The GN would probably take a price hit at the same time, so either way you'd benefit from it.
