[Q] Kindle Fire serial number - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know or have any idea where the Kindle Serial Number is located in the device? (not through the menu but stored within the device), the reason I ask is because I am testing eldarerathis' FFF extended bootloader and I was tinkering with flashing Stock ROM (rooted) to the alternate partitions, funny thing is that for some reason the OS is unable to retrieve the Serial Number and so you can't register the device with Amazon. I've looking through every file within the ROM and I have not been able to identify anything that could possibly give me a hint of where the Serial Number is located.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If it was sitting in some file, it would be much too easy to spoof and lead to sharing Prime accounts, etc. It would have to be embedded in the hardware somewhere. That's my way of telling you that I have no idea why that setup would have a hard time retrieving the serial number.

Why are things like this in the Dev section? This needs to be moved to Q&A

The only reason is I feel there is a better chance of getting a response for this type of question from active devs than most regular users. If not agreed by a moderator I'll gladly move this to the Q&A.

I recently bought a Kindle Fire from Ebay and I'm unable to register it on Amazon.
The amazon reps told me that the serial number is blacklisted and recomanded me to return the device to sender and ask for refund.
Well, I'm unable to do that and I don't want to install a custom rom on it.
The serial should be located within the software, and there should be a way to change it (like adding IMEI - see the guide in the dev section).
will it work with fastboot ? does this change the serial number or jst the number that 'adb devices' will display ?
fastboot -s <serial number> specify device serial number
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you say you dont want to install a custom rom but its really the best and easyiest way around it... I recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916

It wouldn't do you any good to change the serial number. There's a corresponding security key number paired with it, so changing one won't help without the other. Since Modaco is just an enhanced version of the stock software, it wouldn't be any different either in terms of obtaining Amazon services on the device (sorry pooch).
Contact ebay/paypal and file a dispute.

Device ID to Serial Number

Hello all,
I need to know the S/N of several xDAs by programming (.NET). I'm getting a Device ID with this format: {E6461300-EB04-0801-59FF-3D511C9E393A}, but i need to get the serial number printed below the battery in order to match the Device ID with the S/N. Is there any way to convert Device ID to get S/N? Otherwise, is there any way to get the S/N (a registry key for example)?
Thanks a lot and regards,
Mario.

[Q] WP7 FFU Image

Dear All,
Does anyone have access to Microsoft connect? I happen to posses a development device which is currently known as omnia7 but I could not update the device as I do not have access to Microsoft connect... Could anyone kindly provide the latest image (*.ffu) if possible specifically for "Taylor" from Microsoft connect? would really appreciate it.
Also the device comes with "pre-sales unit radio disabled" but when I insert sim, it detects it and recognizes the number. Checking the about section shows that the phone is enabled and unlocked. Unfortunately, typing *#06# it returns 000000000 as the imei number. Can anyone provide a clue whether I can enable this?
Thanks!

Serial Number messed up!

I reflashed my Kindle recently, in order to upgrade from a rooted 6.3.1 rom to a 6.3.2 amazon based rom.
The strangest thing has now happened. My serial number changed, and I can no longer register the device with Amazon. The serial number is now 15 digits long, instead of 16 digits, and the first 4 digits are no longer D01E (standard kindle fire), and are instead 5001.
Any thoughts? How could this get corrupted?
Thanks
You mean when you type:
---
su
idme ?
---
In terminal? Strange...
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium
Yup. Serial number is corrupt there too.
I'm reluctant to post the incorrect and correct serial number, but there is a digit missing, and the first 4 digits of the serial number are incorrect.
Really weird, eh? I do notice that it says nvram info. I know there is a huge interest in not changing this number, but I'd love to put back my original (correct) serial number. . . .
Frustrating.

Got it sorted. Didn't realize you can set NVRAM values with idme. Really strange that it got messed up in the first place.
Anyways, thanks, asking me to check it in idme pointed me in the right direction!

IMEI Number set to generic number - Cannot Connect to Cell Network

So I decided to get my Galaxy Nexus working again for t-mobile. I originally had Cyanogenmod 10.2 running on it, and I figured I could pop my SIM in and it would work. Boy, I was wrong. So I checked my IMEI number after having looking at everything else, and saw this: 004999010640000
That is definitely NOT the IMEI number on my phone, on the barcode behind the battery. In fact, it starts with a 3.
So I had done some searching and digging and seeing others having a similar issue. Some guides note a /factory directory and the like, but, my /factory directory is actually empty. Completely empty except for a lost+found folder.
So my question is, what should I do to get this resolved and get the actual IMEI number back in place? This basically means I do not have a phone I can legitimately use since that generic number is blacklisted.
Any hints or insight would be appreciated.

Help with bootloader

[Some background]I had already unlocked bootloader and flashed a ROM,but due a power surge my mother board become dead took it to service center the replaced it,now that I'm trying to unlock my bootloader it is not unloking,I'm on stock zui(nougat).
I didn't remember my earlier serial number and after mobo replacement my IMEI no. changed so I downloaded unlock file on the serial number which was in my phone(it also matched with adb devices command),but there was error,so I downloaded one more unlock file from the serial number behind my device(after replacement there was a sticker on the back of phone which had the new imei and a serial number ,so i thought maybe this works)but it agin failed so what might be the issue here?I have done this before and I am pretty sure I am doing it right(I read the guide before the procedure). Please help or suggest something,I really hate ZUI.
It says in the error: cannot load flash
