[Q] Wireless Signal Issue with ICS 4.0.4 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just purchased a GSM Galaxy Nexus which came with the "Yakujuxe" build and a NTT-Docomo logo. The phone was running ICS 4.0.1 when I got it, and I hooked up to t-mobile's network with a purchased sim. I followed the post on the XDA boards to change the build to "Yakju" and simultaneously upgraded to ICS ver 4.0.4. All was successful except that now I'm losing the wireless signal often, not to mention the signal is weaker than when I was running 4.0.1.
I've heard that 4.0.4 is causing some signal issues with certain GSM models, so I guess I'm on that list. Does anyone have any ideas why the overall signal would be weaker (when I get a signal)? Is there an easy fix until Google releases and update?
Help is appreciated!

I did the same thing you did. i started off with a Galaxy Nexus yakjuzs build, then i followed the steps in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391881 in order to get back to yakju build.
and in the process I automaticaly ended up with 4.0.4
I have a GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I notice that when I have WiFi disabled, just by glancing at the 3g/h signal symbol it appears data only comes through when the phone is connected with an 'H' next to the antenna bars but not when there's a "3G" on the antenna bars..... are my eyes playing tricks on me or is this an issue? luckily i'm in a good T-Mobile 4G zone, where its very common to receive HSPA+ speeds, and I haven't tested this outside of an HSPA+ 4G zone
also, has anyone read this news report? "Galaxy Nexus hit by signal issues with 4.0.4" http://www.slashgear.com/galaxy-nexus-hit-by-signal-issues-with-4-0-4-update-06221869/ ??
it mentions that the 4.0.4 update causes signal issues, is this only for the verizon model? I use the phone on T-Mobile with the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus and I am wondering the same thing.
if anyone can please shed some clarification on this, that would be great ! please let me know, thanks !

i couldn't get the screenshot attached in last image so here it is again.

[Q] GSM Nexus poor signal performance since volume fix

Hi all
I've seen a few threads relating to LTE Nexus signal issues but none on the GSM.
I got annoyed with waiting for the OTA for the volume fix and 4.0.2 update so I flashed both of them manually.
Since the volume fix update I have noticed that my signal drops quite frequently during calls at my home and at my GF's house regularly dropping the call. Signal is normally 2-3 bars of edge. During a call this will drop to 1 bar with choppy audio and will drop the call almost everytime. Once the call has terminated the signal will then jump back to 3 bars allowing my to call again straight away.
My carrier is Vodafone UK, i'm wondering if anyone else is experinencing something similar? This only seemed to have happened after the volume fix update and 4.0.2 hasn't improved the situation. Before the fix was released my signal never dropped in my home but obviously the volumegate issue was apparent since i can only get GPRS/EDGE in my home.
+1
I have the same problem with my h3G galaxy nexus and it's pretty annoying.
What baseband do you have? Setting/about phone/baseband version... im on vodafone uk and had problems after a flash so flashed the KK6 version and now its fine.
Lol there are plenty of GSM poor signal threads on here. Including mine

I have the KK1. Is there a way to flash the baseband without wiping the device?
I thought the signal problem was also lte. Anyone else expierecing the problem for the gsm unlocked and running on tmobile?
My signal keeps dropping every 30 minutes or so. Loosing the complete mobile network for about 10 seconds. It is really annoying.
Noone replied to my thread on the biggest German Android board. Started to think that I'm the only one until I found this thread.
Having tmobile.

I am on ARHD 2.1.2. With XXKK6 base and, when I make call the person on the other end can only hear me very faintly sometimes not at all. This from is 4.0.2. I had the same problem on custom 4.0.3. I don't know what to do next. I have tried going back to XXKK1, which didn't work so I went back to XXKK6. Anyone else with this issue?or suggestions on how to fix would be greatly appreciated!

Having same problem with ATT. Switch of SIM did not help. About ready to send phone back! Any fix or help in future? Back to N1 now!
I'm on the XXK6 baseband.
I muxst of been searching wrong as I have found a couple of other threads with similar issues. I'm going to try a SIM swap next.
I am Italian too and use H3G network as Riku101.
When buy SGN with radio KK1 had little problems in signal, specially during a coversation without a strong signal.
All these problems was fixed with KK6, now SGN work really good, and the develop of software and radio versions are only at the begin...
I flashed KK6 radio through fastboot and now everything's fine

Dreaded signal issues and my in depth 3g testing. Is it hardware?

Yes, I know, there is a known "issue" with the phone reporting low signal although it is there. However I live in a 3g only area(closest 4g is over an hour drive away), and here is what I experienced. Should I run to the Verizon store again and get this phone back hoping for some sort of fix (can I even do two exchanges?), or is this a design issue and it basically hopeless until released and pay retail?
--------------
1/9/12= Brought home the Nexus. I loooooove it. Everything I could ask for in a phone.
Noticed signal was "low" (was kind of aware from other posts but I decided to see how bad it really was). As soon as I get home, the real testing began after doing some research.
On my couch at home is a weak 3g area. Perfect for testing.
Nexus out of the box was on the version BEFORE icl53f (cant remember off of the top of my head, forgot to write down, but it was asking for me to update to icl53f, however VZW rep told me to wait and not update because it was "buggy")
I have 3 LTE phones at this point. My wifes RAZR, my Thunderbolt, and my new Nexus.
Made sure that all three phones were in CDMA only mode. Placed phones on a wood TV tray, 1'' apart. Wifi off, location all on, freshly restarted.
I did 2 rounds of testing per "config" and re-arraigned the phones in case of some sort of interference.
Downloaded Speedtest.net app, all going to same server (Rochester, NY)
I checked signal by going to about phone in the Android settings.

Thanks for posting this. I definitely think there is more going on here with the Verizon GNex's signal than just the way it is reported. It's not just 3G either. I had 2 Rezounds before I got my Galaxy Nexus, and actually have had two Galaxy Nexii. I am certain I got much faster 4G speeds, 3G speeds, and a stronger signal on the Rezounds than either Galaxy Nexus.
I almost think that a lot of users and Samsung themselves are oblivious to the situation because of the majority of the phones owners (and customers to any cell company) live in populated regions and mostly have 4g. Also this is a lot of peoples first 4g phone, so data speeds will be faster than their 3g phone. This whole "LTE signal issue" going around sounds legit, however I have not seen really any other posts with side to side speed tests with other devices.
I flashed the kk6 radio and fixed the problem

You are also on GSM and yours has different hardware (sorry, I should have mentioned in the title I was referring to the CDMA Nexus)
I absolutely loved this phone also. but was VERY dissapointed after getting it home, it had a very weak signal and was dropping cals, something that ive never experienced with verizon. me and my wife have the razrs so i was able to do a side by side signal comparison here in dallas. my rersults were more dramatic than yours (OP), both razr's had about -85db and the GN was -104 in 4g. needless to say it was returned, now im waiting for a second hardware version to come out. another huge dissapointment was no SD slot. I know all the reasons for it and completely dissagree, i want sd support....

Radio Problems

Is anyone else experiencing "issues" with the CDMA radio "overtaking" the LTE radio? It's as if the CDMA radio rules over the LTE radio and decides whether or not to use 4G or 3G.
I've had to toggle LTE multiple times after it went to 3G in order to get LTE back.
noticed this as well running 4.0.2 radios, at least you get it back after toggling mine drops it altogether... but I just got my nexus today so maybe I overlooked something

I experience the same, 4G works great, until it drops to 3G. Then it seems to take forever to bump up to 4G again, but usually I have to toggle it off and then back on. A friend of mine can't get 4G to work at all, Verizon has told him it's a radio issue (odd though because they tried his sim in 3 different Galaxy Nexus devices). I'm going to try and upgrade him to the leaked 4.0.4 build this week to see if the new radios will help him, it's too nice of a phone to be stuck on 3G all the time.

Galaxy Nexus radio problem (signal drop)

Hi everyone.
I have a problem with my GSM Galaxy Nexus. The phone drops the signal on a random basis, very often, even when I'm calling.
I have the latest version of Jelly Bean installed, via official OTA (4.1.2). I am not rooted.
I have installed the ClockworkMod Recovery to try new basebands. My phone has the XXLF1 baseband, but I tried also the UGLH1 and the UILE1. Same problem. I've also checked the RIL: it matches with these radios I tried.
Is there anything I can do?
I brought it back to Samsung Service and when it came back to me last week, it had the same problem.
Any idea?
Thanks!
PS: I live in Italy and the reception in my area is generally good.

4G Signal drop on CynogenMod 11-20131213-NIGHTLY-maguro
I am also facing the sharp Signal drop on 4G connection during VOIP calls within 1/8 of minute on all carriers. I have checked using three Carriers SIMM.
Please help me either to stay on same Baseband 4.2.2 or downgrade?
Thanks

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Nexus Sprint L700

So, I thought I would ask here. I can't find a lot of information on the problem. There are sites that have contradicting information in google results, but mostly, nothing consistent. Hoping at least here I can get a why or a how to fix it.
So, as the title suggests, I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus L700 running Slimkat with Android 4.4.2 build 4 official. I think there's an update to that rom, but at this point I don't think the rom has anything to do with the issue. All roms have the issue.
So the issue in question. Sprint rolled out LTE 4G in my area but my nexus never gets it. I know we have 4g because my Galaxy Tab 3 picks it up all the time. When I look at the tab, the network is listed as LTE:14. However, no matter what I try, the nexus will only ever pick up CDMA - EvDo rev A. This is a 4G phone and I'm using the GJ04 LTE/CDMA radios, but I never get 4g. I get 3G just fine. For whatever reason, it's like the LTE radio on this nexus never bothers to activate.
What i've tried to fix this:
1. Different radios. I've tried them all, from FC02 to GJ04.
2. Different roms. Same issue on all roms. Doesn't appear to be a custom rom issue.
3. Doing the data settings to LTE only. This doesn't stick, it just goes back to CDMA. I'm told this is by design due to 4g being data only mode.
I don't know what else I can try. Sprint's only answer is to blame it on the custom rom. Which I can't necessarily blame them for, it did void my warranty, but even with the stock rom I still get no LTE.
Any ideas?
Well for sure one thing is to flash the stock rom and see if you get the lte connections.
second, try someone else sim and see if that fixes the issue.
Sprint Galaxy Nexus getting no 4g inside coverage area
I am having the same issue as the first post and have tried all of the same troubleshooting tactics with no prevail. I am currently running LiquidSmooth v3.1 4.4.4 KK baseband GJ04. I have contacted sprint and they are of absolutely zero help. Not only am I having 4g connection issues but I can barely receive 3g. I am located literally in what sprint considers one of their best 4g coverage areas in my area yet haven't been able to connect once. Please any help or insight as to a solution would be greatly appreciated.
