Real Leather Folding/Wallet Style Case - UPDATES? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

I have read through all the older case threads pertaining to real leather style cases, most of which haven't been updated in over a month. Anyone come across something awesome? My Note comes this weekend.

Im going to buy next this one or this one. Not sure if those are real leather tho.

I loved the Spigen but I was looking for a Brown color in between the tan and the brown that is available. May get that one as well if I strike out. Thanks for sharing bro.

This one is great build quality, but as I noticed in the other threads the leather is lighter and all that stuff on the front kind of kills it for me.

Have people debunked the magnet thing? Is it an issue or just fearmongering? LOL.

So it is a real issue huh? Good to know. I am looking for a good dark brown leather, a easy open clasp system, and spots for cards/cash.
This one is epic for the iPhone, http://store.apple.com/us/product/H...-4s?afid=p228|Google&cid=AOS-US-SHOPIP-Google

Damn they thought of everything on this case. http://www.spider-foot.com/100-genu...ung-galaxy-note-n7000-i9220-i92rb-p-1139.html
Just if color and build quality was better.

Take a look at Easecase on Ebay. They make superb leather custom cases. You choose the colour, leather texture, closure option, engraving etc ,etc.
I purchased a wallet type case for my GS2 and it is amazing. Do a search for them on this site and you will find various reviews

Sorry should have stated that there are two versions of the case
1. E4- this has the slots for credit cards and you don't need to remove phone to snap photos - I've got this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/E4-EASECA...sesPouches&hash=item5ae642faf1#ht_4452wt_1037
2. E5- as above model with additional bit for dollar bills etc
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/E5-EASECA...sesPouches&hash=item56499c68f4#ht_4452wt_1037
As I love colour....my case has the purple cowhide outer and the inner is red cowhide. It has a lovely texture and the workmanship is outstanding

This is the case I use:
http://www.spigen.com/spigen-sgp-sa...case-valentinus-series-vintage-edition-1.html
It has a very easy "snap in" to it so I can quickly pull out my phone to dock in my car or talk on it like a phone. But for the most part, my Note lives inside my wallet

I have the first one in your listing and can confirm it is not real leather. The fitting is perfect and the it is a beautiful case. However, it doesn't hold credit card or cash too well.
There isn't sufficient space between the front cover and Note's screen, so you will have a hard time close the flip after occupy the credit card slots or placed your cash.
The case is made from not so durable material. I would expect the PU surface to deteriore after a few months.

Yes, Faux Leather. Not sure why the SGP site lists is a genuine leather. I have mine filled with CCs, drivers license, a key card, cash, and some business cards. Closes and snaps fine.

Looking at it, I think the plastic part that holds the Note is just glued to the wallet part. I found that a quick bend on the lower left corner will pop my phone right out to quickly answer a call or throw into my car dock.

Thanks for the awesome info. What kind of closure did you pick? Can you realistically hold bills and cards in there? Does the one you have contain a spot for bills behind the credit card area or is that just a seam?

My E4 case for the GS2 has three slits for credit cards, there is also a small inner pocket where you could put a few bills. The E4 for the Note has five slits for credit cards and should have the same inner pocket (behind credit card slits) It has the inserted closure.
I must point out the Easecase will answer any questions regarding further info/options/customizing - this really impressed me. They provided me with photos of colour options and engravement placement.
Before I got my Easecase, I used a Melkco flipcase which I loved. Unfortunately I dropped my phone this resulted in having two ugly dents in it. After that ....I was determined to get a case with full protection. I didn't really purchase it for the wallet aspect, as I use my purse and handbag for that.
All future phones will be lovingly encased in Easecase LoL

Super cheesy and flimsy looking case. IMHO.
I'm hoping it will fit in my Nook Color case with 3 position Landscape stand. I'm pretty sure I can modify it to fit becuz I love that damn case and it cost me $35

The Crazy On Digital case below via Amazon works great and looks sharp. It is for the Playbook, but fits the Fire perfectly.

Things to watch for in cases
One really important thing to be mindful of when buying a case is how close the case is to the home key popup button.
I have a Speck case I like except for one super annoying problem: the bottom of the holder is right on the edge of the screen so it makes it impossible to press the home popup key. You have to bend down the holder to make room for your finger. Granted the holder part is pretty thick, part of its function is to act as padding between the case and the cover.
Oh, and also make sure you can put the Fire in the case upside down because at least one app I tried doesn't properly rotate the screen so I have to put the Fire in upside down when using the case as a stand. I think a reverse opening case would actually be best but I've yet to see a "manga style" opening case.
I bought the PU case from ebay (as mentioned by the OP). I figured at $9 shipped it would just be an experiment.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PU-Leather-...ccessories&hash=item45fde7f83e#ht_2692wt_1037
I have to say it's not too bad. It seems to fit well, and the stand seems to work OK in both positions. I only really wanted it to travel with on the plane, and it won't be a permanent case, but for the price it does it's job. It has a magnet catch to close it, which isn't very strong, but does the job. It is also quite a low form factor, so it doesn't bulk up the overall thickness of the Fire too much.
Frankly, I prefer the feel of the kindle outside of a case, and with it being rubberized and made of Gorilla glass, I'm not too worried about scratching/marking. I just wipe it down with a damp cloth every few days.

When you fold the cover back, does it lay flat? I've seen some where it doesn't, so it leaves a space of say .5" or so on the side with the flap. I hope this is making sense, I'm tired. I want to get a case, but I don't want it to have that space on the side. I wish I could find the picture of it again to make myself clear. They never show pictures of the cases with the cover all the way folded back
I'm not sure what you mean, so here are some pictures of it in both positions. Does this help? Sorry, they aren't particularly good quality!

See how on the side of the flap it doesn't actually sit flush, thus doubling the size that is held in that hand. An yes, I know thats for the touchpad, but just for reference.

Alright, at least it can lay flat, one more question haha, can it do the same at the fold closer to the fire also, if not, at least it can do it how you showed. Thanks for the pics, this will probably be what I go with now that I can finally see it from this angle, answering my question

Yeah, it can, but what that does is make the flap protrude maybe 3/4" out of the front. So there is no real optimal fully flat position that keeps to same form factor of the Kindle itself. Each position requires you to kind of mold it to sit there, but that is probably because it's new, and doesn't have a lot of give yet.
At the end of the day, it's $9 delivered, and for that money I believe it's a reasonably disposable purchase. I'd be pissed if I had paid $40-50 for a case and didn't like it! (although I suppose I could always take it back)

You make a good point. Really as long as it sits flat, I'll be satisfied with it. Thanks for taking the time.

Credit card flip cases

I saw a flip case where you can put like 3 credit cards on one side and flips over on top of the SG3 screen. I was wondering if the credit card magnetic strip would cause any issues to the phone screen since it's on top of it when the case is closed. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
no, the strips on credit cards aren't actually magnets like you're thinking of. and also the screen is not affected by magnetism (you're probably thinking of old TVs or CRT monitors which are different technology)

The Draco S3 is a PREMIUM aluminum case offered by DRACOdesign, made of aircraft grade A6061 aluminum. The fit and finish

convenient wrist strap that works as a micro-USB cable. You can connect it to the strap loop opening on the bottom right
of the case.
When picking up the case, I notice a nice heft. It's not heavy. It's a comfortable weight and feels like a quality build. I was
glad to find that the volume rocker and power button were made of aluminum as well. The case fit very well in my hand. It did
not have the boxy feeling of other metal bumpers.
Unlike other metal bumpers, I am able to lay this down and not worry about the camera. It's very flush, it seems to keep the
camera off the surface. The opening ports are a good size. They are large enough to fit the OEM Samsung Data Cable. As
I've complimented the finish of this case, the edges are rounded off. DRACOdesign really paid attention to the small details.
I have to say I am thoroughly impressed and I rate this case highly on my list. The minimalistic design and elegant looks
have won me over.
MSRP: $89.99 and is available at DRACOdesign S3 Aluminum Bumper in 7 different colors.
It is worth the price and from past experiences I've learned to do it right the first time or buy multiple cases until you find
the one you want. I am glad the right case came along early in the game this time.
Alright Guys!
Here is the code for 30% off! It's only good on the Draco S3 Series and it's valid until 10/31/12. Snatch them up NOW!
Brings them down to $62.99. I'd rather feel comfortable from ordering direct to avoid all those counterfeits that could start flooding the market.
Don't forget to hit thanks!

Nice pics, I would like some rubber in the middle between the phone and the bumper (a thin rubber at least )

Thanks. Sorry I made them so big. I don't have Photoshop anymore and it was too much of a hassle to install it again.
Edit - I used the thumbnails pics and have the bigger pics on my blog.
Do you think this case could handle a 5 or 6 foot drop? I would love to see a drop test video.

Case is too nice for a drop test. Lol.
Great Review :good:. Do you think it would still fit with custom backplates (metal insert one)? Do you think the metal backplate with the addition of the metal bumper would totally kill signal?

As long as it's the same size of the factory one. There may be a little bit of room. Also I have heard / read that aluminum back and bumper would drop reception. But if you're in a tower rich area you'd be fine.
Draco sent me one for review as well. I really don't like it. I'll probably just post a link to my blog later. Aside from looks, it's okay with look, feel, and protection, but other than looks, it doesn't do the very well with the rest.
how does it affect the signal?

Most aluminum bumpers do slightly affect signal. It's just the way it works.
Thanks for the review. I ordered one last night and looking forward to it. They have some on Amazon for $59.00 for anyone interested.

They have both.
Flare Red:
Thunder Red:
They are all shown on the site.
I would love to try one of these, but to be honest, my main reason for getting a case with just about ANY phone is to make it less slippery. Don't see this case doing that in the least.... and not really keen on the idea of buying a $90 case.
So the "thunder" colors have the brush finish?

It helps with grip for me. The battery cover was where I would lose grip. Now that my hands close around the bumper, it doesn't slide out like without a case.

Review of Spigen Wallet Case Snap w/pics!!!

This is a review of Spigen Galaxy Note 2 Leather Wallet Case Snap: http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/samsung/galaxy-note-2-cases/galaxy-note-2-case-snap.html
When it comes to smart phone cases, it's always a challenge for any company to come up with something original to grab your attention, something different to stand out from the crowded, and something practical to make you want to use the case on a daily basis. With their Wallet Case Snap, Spigen nailed this challenge by taking a genuine high quality Leather Wallet and combining it with a removable version of their popular Ultra Thin Air case. I had an opportunity to review two color variants of this case, one in black leather with red accent and black snap on case, and the other one in red leather with white accent and white snap on case. As you can see from the pictures, both looked great with my white Note 2. For those familiar with Spigen's Ultra Thin Air case you know it's exactly what description of it says. Case is super lightweight, slim and made out of high quality PC material. This particular case on it's own is not designed to give you drop protection, and doesn't have much of lip protection either, but it's there to protect your phone from scratches and dust while providing easy access to all of your controls. The case wraps around back of your phone and both sides leaving precise cutout for power and volume buttons as well as speaker, s-pen and camera/flash. Top and bottom of the phone are left open giving you plenty of room for headphone, micro-usb and mic access. Also, being able to accommodate Korean version of Note 2, there is a cutout for their tv antenna in the corner of this case. As a a matter of fact, the case itself is made in Korea which I also found with some other products to be of a higher quality. I know there are a lot of fans of this particular Ultra Thin Air case, but I just want to mention again this case is not intended for a drop protection. What this particular modified version of Ultra Thin Air is intended is to be snapped into the wallet!!! The top and the bottom of the case has grooves that mate with latches of the plastic back panel built into the inner flip side of the wallet. And let me tell you, once it mates - it will stay securely on, no matter how hard you shake it. As a matter of fact, I found it easier to remove this case by sliding it out from the latches instead of pulling on it.
Once mated with a wallet, the back side of it has all the necessary opening for the camera/flash, speakers, and even s-pen that align with snap on case perfectly! Also, I want to mention that plastic backside panel has textured line design precisely aligned with inner leather lining of the wallet. Very nice design detail. The front flip side of the wallet has 3 card slots and a deep interior pocket behind it for either cash, more cards, etc. I was able to fit at least 2 cards per slot and stash some bills into the interior pocket. Of course, the more you add into the pockets, the bulkier wallet gets which could be a problem considering there is no outside latching flap or anything similar.to hold the wallet together from opening. Plus you have to keep in mind that bulging out cards will be rubbing against your phone's screen when you close the wallet. In my opinion, it makes more sense to keep one card per slot, and put extra ones in interior pocket. Also, having a screen protector will be highly beneficial for users of this wallet case. Exterior of this wallet case has a very smooth leather, something you find in a premium wallets. There is no doubt the wallet with a phone inside of snap-on case looks very professional and high class. For the finishing touches the case is complimented with a perimeter stitching and elegantly stamped Spigen logo. Nothing too flashy.
So the big question, why is it even necessary to have a removable snap-on case while other similar designs don't have it. I can think of a few very reasonable answers such as it will be impossible to use wallet flip case in the car mount. Or a lot of the power charging cradles will accept only a slim case. Plus, sometimes you might be at the event where you want to use camera for a more extensive pictures taking or video recording and flip wallet case will get in the way, plus you don't want to be standing with all of your credit cars and money sticking out of the case. For those moment, taking out inner snap-on case makes a perfect sense and gives you more flexibility in using your phone. And as opposite, using snap-on case together with a flipped side of the wallet actually gives you more grip since Ultra Thin Air case by itself could be on a slippery side.
Overall, if you are looking for a quality professional looking case that combines functionality of a wallet and comes with a flexible and secure option of removable ultra-thin case - there is no other competition for Spigen Wallet Case Snap where for the price of one case you get two!
Here are pictures to give you a better idea of this case details.

Some experience helps, plus this particular one is tempered glass which is thicker and more rigid thus easier to hold and to place on the phone. For that kind of install you can either use a small suction cup as a holder to align edges better or get painters tape and make loop with sticky side outside to hold sp in the middle during install. Btw, if you get frustrated with install, or alignment, or bubbles, a lot of the places like BestBuy or Verizon/ATT/Sprint can install it for you for a small fee. If you do it yourself, you can always get a few cheap screen protectors (from ebay) and practice Just always do it in a dust free environment.

Thanks for the review! I actually just purchased the black wallet! I was wondering how it would look if you used the white slim case in the black wallet? I requested SGP to swap for me, but they refused. Could you post some pictures to show me how it looks please?

This is genuine leather, so I wouldn't think care should be any different? I actually think the case will benefit from a little wear for the leather to get rougher to improve the grip. It feels a bit too smooth right out of the box

I know it's been a while since you bought the case... but have you experienced any damages to your screen when you have cards and stuff in there? Also, what about the cover staying closed while you have stuff in it?

Thanks for the answer. As i see smart dock won't work with any good phone case. Just with original flip cover. Preety sad. I was thinking of buying a Spigen case, but now I think it would be probably better to buy UAG case. It looks heavier and perhaps will provide better protection.
Thanks again!

I made a request if there will be other docking-acceptable models and another tough-model that covers the flaps.
That would be ok if the uncovered flap bit, matched the bottom half, the magnetic charging is definitely accessible.

The official Sony smart window view case will work with the dock when the front of the case is folded to the back. This is what I intend to buy.
Just received a batch of these (10 for $16) from a seller on aliexpress. They're from the same factory as the 'terrapin' cases made for the Z1C.
Very light plastic with rubber finish and holes in all the right places This was my fave case for the Z1C so glad they're making them for our new baby. Gonna keep a couple and the rest are going on fleabay :good:
Now I just need a phone to put inside it

From the pictures I've seen of the smart window covers, they have a cut out for the magnetic charging, you won't even need to fold it open to charge it in the dock.
I've managed to only find one video yet of the thing in action including, how you attach it. Sadly it's in Italian but you get the gist from the video.
It looks like the inside of the cover that attaches to the back of the phone is some sort of sticky? plastic that attaches to the glass back, rather than the usual plastic type tray that clips on, this does make it more form fitting, I don't know how secure or long lived it would be though. Take a look and see for yourself. (This is for the Z3 but the Z3c also has a version which will be the same, just smaller)

That's annoying. They've gone from one extreme to the other. I suspect a lot of people with the CM Tough for the Z1C, like myself, ended up cutting a gap for the magnetic charger.
TBH that's the only port I really need access to. I very rarely connect the device by USB and the SD and SIM both go in the phone when I get it and come out when I sell it.
Here's hoping for some well designed tough cases.

Yes, that makes more sense. I was going by the description given here - http://www.clove.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-scr26-style-up-cover
But now I've seen a description of the charger dock and it says the pins are compatible with our without a case, and the window case seems to be very thin material anyway.

Case Mate barely there is out:

Seems dock-compatible!
But: same unprotected side as the tough edition.

Hey.. was just kidding.. I will certainly have a cover for this phone considering that this is a phone I intend to use for at least the next 2-3 years. Been using my GS-II for the past three years with a cover and is still looking pretty good all because of the cover. But that said, seeing this beauty without the cover is a treat it in itself
Really waiting to see the official style cover from Sony for this phone similar to the one for Z3.
Received a hard shell case from eBay this morning, will protect sides but not much protection top and bottom, nice and thin. £1.95 on eBay delivered. I'll post some photos when I get the phone, maybe tomorrow.
I must admit, after seeing the video, and not having a glass phone before, I'll be looking for something that's probably Gel for bounce, non flip & definitely with a cut-out for docking port only. I've had a good look on Amazon/Ebay etc. but it's too early to tell as the phones not actually out yet. Hopefully the clove case will do for the interim until the pictures a bit clearer and thee's some user reviews on the various options. Definitely needs a case of some sort though that's beyond doubt.
