[Q] how do I delete reboot tone - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Since 1st time I rebooted my phone (even before I had my friend Root and flash Blazer 4.0,) my Samsung Epic 4G touch would play this Phone ring tone titled " minimal tone " that is a major annoyance and I cant find the file or source to delete or
change the settings. This occurs only when I reboot the phone. Btw- my actual phone ringtone is NOT set to this tone. I thought maybe a music player/media player was at fault. ( where I could delete the app ). And even after doing complete wipe prior to flashing Blazer 4.0, it still plays this tone. As i said, this tone existed prior to rooting or Flashing rom.
I thought there might be a way to extract and delete this file-
Please send me detailed info on how and where I can correct this. I even took phone to Sprint ( preroot/rom ) and they had no clues.. the tone will play for 3-5 minutes. please people- help me out.( I hope its not a defect,)

You need root access to remove the start up tone. I think all the ROMs for this phone have it removed by default though.

administrative access- tone file delete
phone is rooted- I just dont know how to find this particular file/tone and delete it and/or change settings

I believe its located in system/media/video/shutdown

File found
THANKS ! was under system/media/audio/ringtones/minimal tone and de-leted !!!,,, next- I will have to see if the system plays any other tone by some strange systematic replacement
or if it will simply be muted as desired. I searched in the great app ROM TOOLBOX,,root browser ( paid version ) and Voila !

anomoly continues
Need Expert assistance-
The tone itself was deleted- I rebooted phone 3-4 times since , changing boot animation and font change ( using rom toolbox )
but was shocked when on the 5th reboot the dreaded sound played !! but when I looked in the file of ringtones- its gone !
What the heck ?? please give ideas and help.

read files from bootloader...phone stuck in calibration screen and activesync KO???

Hi to all! I installed a new cooked great rom to my trinity a month ago and it worked fine. it is this rom
[ROM][ITA]WM 6.1 Elegance edition 2.14 (OS 5.2.19213 Build 19213.1.0.0)[ONLINE]
today I got a strange error and the phone was stuck. I unplugged the battery and when I started again it was stuck on the calibration screen. if I tap on the screen nothing happens but the backlight turns on if it was off so it still catches the taps. I connected the phone via usb to delete from the autostart menu the link to the configuration screen (welcome.exe) but the phone is not deteced by activesync so no way to browse folders on my device or use a program like SOTI to control the ppc. I want to bring it back to life as I know that my files hasn't been deleted. in fact if I press the right soft button I get a menu of a program I put in the ppc and it's not included in the elegance rom so I'm sure my files and my configuration and everything are still there.
if i get a phone call the phone rings (with the default ringtone anyway, but the name of the caller is displayed correctly, that's why I'm sure my device still has all my contacts and more)
what could I do?
is there a way to edit files from bootloader? does mtty work for this? (I have no idea how to use mtty so I might be wrong) could I make a full dump, edit the startup folder and reflash the phone with all my data?
I tried to use mortscript witht the autorun feature to read a part of the register regarding the welcome file and deleting it's link in the startup folder but the sd card driver is not loaded I think as the files are not launched, while in another phone the same script works fine.
thanks in advance to all who will have time and will to help me

as far as i know (not that much), reading files from bootloader is pretty impossible.
You can always just reflash. If the touchscreen problem persists, it's possible that the problem is hardware related.
Your computer should detect your device when in bootloader, and failing that, you should be able to SD flash (assuming you're HardSPL'd or equivalent, thats just what we have in the herald forum)
Thanks for your help
I'm quite sure the hardware is fine as all my problems started after a crash of the OS.
Anyone has an idea to get access to my ppc?

if the sdcarddriver is not loaded then the following will not work but give it a try anyways. make a text file "whatever.txt" no quotes then rename it to "welcome.not" no quotes then put it in the root of your storage card and it should skip the whole startup process. that is if it loads the sd card driver or you might want to think about flashing another rom
I already tried the "welcome.not" trick but got no results. I'm afraid that the sd card driver is not loaded then.
Thanks for the hint irus anyway!
Really there's no way to read files from bootloader or something similar?
not that i know of
but the fact that your issue was noticed during a rom flash
dont mean it's not hardware related
much like a heart attack which happens during a thunderstorm
dont need be related to the thunderstorm
Wait! The error never happened during a flash. I never said it. I had that rom on my trinity since a month and it worked like a charm. Then suddenly I got an error and the phone was stuck.
I have understood what you mean but at least I hope it's not a hardware failure!

-SOLVED!! [Q] Need Help, Where Do I Place Shuddown Sound I've Created For Animations?

Hi I've had no luck finding the specific file name, type and location I need for the shutdown sound to go with the shutdown animation I've been working on.
I know the shutdown animation on Desire HD is called "downanimation.zip" and it goes in the "/system/customize/resource" folder of the phone. I don't know a file name or type it uses as by default there is no sound.
I also know the startup sound is "android_audio.mp3" placed in the "/data/local" folder of the phone.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'll be sure to post the finished product of the startup & shutdown aminations I've been working on in the Themes & Apps section for Desire HD on XDA.
---Update 19 Feb 2011--- SOLVED!!!
Yay I've finally figured this out!! Using a .mp3 for shutdown sounds now works! This may well be a first for Desire HD! Please follow this thread I made, just look at the top of the first post and the update explains it and has included files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935761
just a stab the dark ..... but have you tried adding a shutdown.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui/
Yes I've tried that and it does nothing.
I think I maybe getting closer though... I've found that the two .xml files located in "/system/customize/CID/" have info at the bottom of the xml file wich tells the Android system where to look to locate the boot animation, the shutdown animation and the startup sound as well as the frame rate to use for the shutdown animation. I've tried to edit this to include an audiio location for the shutdown but so far it hasn't worked. The frame rate change did work for my shutdown animation though. So I believe the code here is different than the one used in the .xml for the startup sound or maybe even the kernal won't work with it at all?!? I really don't know?!?
I'm now trying to find a custom ROM from another phone based on Android 2.2 that does use shutdown sounds and then I can see what it has in the "default.xml" file located in /system/customize/CID. If anyone knows a phone & ROM please let me know so I can use it to solve this. Thanks

Yes The Samsung phones are the only ones I've found so far with guides of where to put the shutdown animation sound. That's the folder mentioned above. It doesn't work on a Desire HD. I've downloaded 3 custom ROMs for the Samsung Facinate & Captive trying to find the similar .xml files that would give me the clue how to enter the write code for the system to use shutdown sounds on a Desire HD. I can't find the files in the Samsung ROMs
Lee the developer of LeeDrOiD custom ROMs said maybe it's not possible. Damn
Anyway I'll be posting the startup and shutdown animations I've been working on....
Done, Done and Done. Happy to finally get a shutdown MP3 file to work! Check the top of the page for the info and link.... all explained. Have fun!

[Q] System set to read only, how do I change it?

Ok so I have a problem, I would think most users have this too: The max volume level being too low. So I went ahead to search google for help, and downloaded "Ultra volume mod" now what I'm supposed to do is to overwrite the "default_gain.config" but when I do, it says permission denied. So I tried another method, manually editing the code. Now it justs says that an error occured when I try to save it. I did a little digging on the internet, and found out that my system is apparently read-only, how do I change that? Oh yeah, I'm currently using ES File Explorer, most people said theres a button to mount something but I can't find the button, maybe thats the fix to it? I have the latest updated version of the root explorer and I still cant find the mount button.
Well, while you're here can you help me with another one? On game hacking apps such as GameCIH or GameGuardian, either right after I grant root permission, it says "error: root denied" or it says nothing and when I try to change the code, nothing happens. Thanks for helping.
Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-17005
Root: Yes
OS: Android Jellybean 4.3, Stock.
Any other info thats needed? Please say so, I will do my best to provide them. And please don't post complicated stuff, the most I can do is read simple codes and edit them, such as the volume one. I cant decode, read complex codes or create codes, if theres anything complicated, please try your best to explain how to do it. Thank you in advance for your help.

Open ES file explorer hit menu button ,scroll down, check mark root explorer ,slider will turn blue, then click extreme left of root explorer you'll get a pop up with few options, click on Mount R/W then another pop up comes up and you'll see RO and RW columns, and 4 rows of options.Select the RW column for each of the row options. That would mount your system to read and write files just like you are doing right now.Once you change your default_gain.conf it will ask you to replace it with existing one (you should make a back up of your original one on the sd card) then replace it,long press on the new file click on MORE at the bottom right then Properties then you'll see permissions as RWX-RWX-RWX- and Change next to it.click on change and you'll see 3 rows and 3 columns make it read as RW-R-R basically selecting first 2 columns for first option and only the first option for 2nd and 3rd row.Click ok,exit the es file explorer and reboot your phone. I am attaching images below so you can get visual help as well (my options differ a bit under es file explorer since im not running TW ROM but concept is same
Note: Root is must (I see you've mentioned you are rooted)
Thank you so much for the help, it worked perfectly, now my volume is just as its supposed to be. Thank you for your help, now i just need someone to answer my second question.
2nd one sounds like an app issue now you have confirmed it's not a root issue. Probably don't work on 4.3. Think I remember seeing groans from game cheaters about apps not being supported.
Oh okay... well, i tried out the mod, forgot that 1db more is 3 times a loud as the bd before. Almost busted my cheapass earphones. Also the static noise you hear in idk, clash of clans during start up increased by at least 5 times. Switching back, luckily i took your advice on making a backup. Thanks guys, really helped me. In the shortest time of any other forum too.

Ya many of us eat , breathe and sleep on xda and love to help out people cause we were also once in your shoes so I know how it feels when something doesn't work right ,the anxiety levels sky rocket at once and panick sets in.
Edit: You might want to quote people when responding to someone in particular so he/she gets notified otherwise they might not check back on the thread and your future questions might be left unanswered.Just a suggestion
Well if its just thanks i think they would like it if they didnt get spammed on email. Anyway i fixed the static problem, seems like the old speakerboost app i tried but did not delete was jealous of the mod, uninstalled and mod works like a charm.

Boot sound (PowerOn&PowerOff.ogg)

Hi xda.
Just installed Malaysk rom the other day, but i got a little problem.
I want to make it possible to make my head unit do a boot sound (PowerOn.ogg).
I've been reading how to change this sound and it worked great on my phone (LG G2), but when I'm trying to do it on my head unit nothing have changed.. Just like stock, 1. Malaysk logo 2:Choosen animation (BMW).
I used Root Explorer, System-Media-Audio-Ui and pasted my custom PowerOn.ogg file. Just to mention, there was no PowerOn nor PowerOff files before. There is some other .ogg files but not these 2 files..
So my questions is= Is it possible to make it work? If yes, how?
Thank u very much for your help so far!
Anyone?
Noby can help with this or?
I'm trying to do the same thing. I was able to do it to my s6 but not for my in dash
Shouldn't it be possible, to set up a command with "Tasker"?
The command will execute on startup and play the sound file.
But I don't have an idea for playing a sound file when the device is shutting down...

It is a basic Tasker function. It would best for you to read/watch starting guides via Google. In my opinion, tasker would be too slow for an effective boot sound effect.
..
Well the tasker thing is not working.. I've been trying to play around with tasker, without success..

No sound in calls on Xiaomi Mi A1

Hi,
I have recently installed LOS 15.1 on my Xiaomi Mi A1 without GAPPS or root, I precise that I have wiped everything before installing it.
Everything is working perfectly fine, however , I am facing one only issue : I have no sound during calls.
It happens when I receive a call or when i try to make one, I can't hear the other person and he can't hear me, It happens on both SIM card slot and even if VoLTE is activated or not.
I precise that the default app for call is correctly set.
If someone has an idea, ran into the same struggle or have an idea, you are welcome to share ^^. I think it can be pretty Dangerous if I can't call emergency
Thanks in advance!
[EDIT]
I found a solution thanks to this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/help/sound-voice-call-lineage-14-1-t3546237
If you are encoutering the same issue, you should :
Root your phone
Download a root file explorer
Open the file build.prop located in /system
Find the lane "persist.vendor.audio.fluence.voicecall=true" (might vary a little bit)
Replace it by "persist.vendor.audio.fluence.voicecall=false" (Without quotes ofc)
Save build.prop and double check that saves have been done
Reboot your phone
Be careful when playing with the build.prop because it may result in a bootloop!!
You should now be able to call people!
