Verizon Galaxy Nexus $49 for new contracts, $149 for upgrades - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

cross-post from the member-found deals...Amazon has this for $49 for new lines, and $149 for current customers.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Android Phone (Verizon Wireless)

Thanks for posting this. Bought!

Got it last week for $79 and called them yesterday for credit. This is one thing I love the most about amazon.

Yeah, Amazon is really good about that.
I had a game stolen from my apartments holding area for packages(closet in the leasing office) and they overnighted me another without a hesitation. Customer for life.

Wirefly also had/has the verizon nexus 4g for $49.

You shounldnt count on T-Mobile getting the galaxy nexus.

Not sure. I'm sure both of these phones will be announced at MWC happening next month.
@Josh: How come? T-Mobile was the first network to have the first Android phone, G1.
Supported by Nexus One, Nexus S.

Well if anything I'm waiting for best buy to sell the GSM Galaxy Nexus. But the Tmobile thing would be great as I could get it with a 2 year contract upgrade hence being less money.
I hope Tmobile does get it because of that.

Well for one, it would probably be news everywhere by now, and for T-Mobile to sell it it has to clear the FCC.. and such has not happened yet so that automatically pushes it back a few months if T-Mobile ever gets it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Also.. just because they were the first doesn't really mean anything.. There is no news of anyone carrying the phone stateside outside of Verizon and Sprint.

Just wondering.. how come you're waiting for Best Buy to have it? A GSM carrier such as T-Mobile and AT&T needs to offer it. And from rumors, AT&T wants to remove the pentaband off GSM Galaxy Nexus (not sure why). You'll also have to pay tax.
Buying it from Expansys or Negri will give you one-year warranty. Also, you won't have to pay taxes.
@joshnichols189: That is true about the FCC. Just wish we had the full information on Verizon's exclusivity and what it really meant in full terms.
Exclusivity really hurts the customer in the long-run.
Just figured since T-Mobile had been the first network in the U.S. to get things rolling for Android that they wouldn't have such a big problem convincing Google to provide the Galaxy Nexus to their network. Not to mention, it wouldn't take much effort since the phone supports pentaband (4G on their network already). But T-Mobile may want the Snapdragon processor so the phone is 100% compatible with 41Mbps (theoretically) to market the phone.
It's funny because the people working at Google were giving away the GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus rather than the CDMA one for Christmas.
Because my mother (the one who will technically purchase the phone) doesn't want to buy one from overseas.
So being able to go to best buy and get it would be preferred, and when I say the GSM version I do mean international (UK) because I don't need the LTE radio and it also causes problems
Sent while thinking about my Galaxy Nexus
Edit: still @ same price to ship one from UK as was upon release?

You're not buying one from overseas (well.. they come from overseas but when you buy they dont ship from overseas at time of purchase). When you purchase off Amazon, Newegg, Negri Electronics, Expansys or whatever the phones are already in their warehouses ready to be shipped as long as payment is done.
Even some Frys stores are selling the phone in stores.
There are only two variants of the phone: toro (CDMA/LTE) and maguro (GSM). The maguro variant is a pentaband phone meaning it supports 4G on BOTH AT&T and T-Mobile (HSPA+ 21Mbps theoretical speeds).
And no prices are not the same. They've been dropping because a White version of Galaxy Nexus is coming along with 32GB GSM versions.
Right I would need the Maguro..
So what's the cheapest for 16GB Black at the moment?

You don't need to worry about accidently buying the wrong model.
maguro = GT-I9250
toro = I515

$656.50... there are coupons on the internet that can make it cheaper, I'll try looking on their twitter feed since I remembered seeing one
Edit: nope none valid at the time unless you want a white GN which is $60 more expensive.

Alright good luck. If the phone retails for like $529.99, it'll come out to be $580 after taxes. Just a heads up.
They also ship from Las Vegas, NV.

I bought the Nexus S from Best Buy and it came out to be $580 after taxes.
Was just including that just for price differences didn't mean to excite you like that lol

[Q] Purchasing Galaxy Nexus

I will be purchasing a galaxy nexus from a friend in a few days.He told me that he has not paid the etf fee for the phone, I was curious if the phone would work if I had a lte sim card or if I signed up for new service. Thanks for the help in advance.
You'll have to call Verizon and see what they can do if anything, they might not let you activate it.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW
The phone will be blacklisted from ever connecting to Verizon's network until your friend pays the money he owes to Verizon. Tell him to stop being a cheap ass and pay his bill.

I would suggest that you pass on this "gift".
Verizon usually doesn't usually budge on unblacklisting phones so you might be screwed.

Just buy the nexus from Verizon for the 150 it's running at right now. And tell your friend to stop being retarded and pay his bill.

Even better, buy it from Amazon for something like $0.01. Or if he's off contract there are plenty of non-blacklisted phones for sale on Craigslist, eBay, XDA marketplace, etc..

Considering a Nexus, can I use it with cheap prepaid cards or Walmart Family Plan?

I've been using a CDMA HTC Droid Incredible on Page Plus, bought the $80 card for 2,000 minutes and I love it.
If I buy an unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus, is there any sort of competitive carrier as far as prepaid cards go?
I don't need data, it's too expensive IMHO.
As a last resort, my family has the Walmart Family Plan where I could pay $25/mo. to add on my phone, is the Nexus compatible?
Thanks very much.
It's a pentaband phone so it should be compatible with all Gsm carriers.

Never mind!
I just found out about the $30/mo. T-Mobile plan with unlimited data.
That's cheap enough for me
You should check out the enormous prepaid thread in the general section. Tons of information & options.

Nobody said the classic subsidized plans were eliminated completely. Walmart, Costco, Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers who carry Tmobile phone still have the old plans because retailers get a cut when they lock in customers for two years. But at Tmobile corporate stores and online at tmobile.com, only the new plans are offered. Tmobile is all about choice, which you don't have at Att, Verizon, or Sprint

Yea I only pay 79.99 for the unl, no data cap and then $20 a month for the phone subsidy. Not bad to have the best phone in the world, for now.

They didnt get rid of contracts, they just now offer no contract plans.
I got the GS4 no contract and the monthly payment is $50 unlimited everything and $20 if you dont want them to slow down 4G after 500MB/month.
comes out to $70, next line would be $50 and every line after would be $30.
Comes out cheaper than that $79
I signed 2YR contract with tmobile and paid 150 for mine
My question :: since we are going to be with Tmobile for years why nt to sign contract?? I am with T for 5+ years. Always thought of switching but never did. So contract is fine with me

Because the price without contract is actually better than with contract. Let me crunch the numbers -
With Contract from Costco: $200 for Galaxy S4 + $80/month for unlimited talk/text/2.5GB web = $2,120 over the 2 year contact
Without Contract from T-Mobile.com: $630 for Galaxy S4 + $60/month for unlimited talk/text/2.5GB web = $ 2070 over 2 years period
The economics are even better if you bring a $300 Nexus 4 instead of purchasing a Galaxy S4. And if you are in a family plan, you're talking about over a thousand dollar in savings across multiple lines. BUT the biggest benefit is that after 2 years, you will pay $60/mo off contract no matter which phone you use, whereas under contract you'll still pay $80/mo long after you've technically paid off the subsidy.

Because you pay less when you bring your own phone. If you want contract there is the eip plan where you pay $20 more per month. On other carriers there is no option like this. Bottom line you pay only for service not for the device. In other carriers even if you bring your own device you still pay the same price as others with contract.

Hard for me to decide. We are paying $88 after tax and everything for 2 lines with 1000 minutes shared, and 5gb data each. No messaging plan and 5gb is more than enough, use wifi most of the time.

Because you dont want to be locked down to one phone for two years. You can pay your first phone off and get another phone. Lets say if there is another nice phone comes out 8 months from now, like the S5. If you have a two year contract, you cant do this.

Exactly, I got tmobile in Oct kf 2011 with the S2. If iI had gone with the classic plan instead of the value plan, i would still be with the S2 today. But luckily I got the value plan and have gone from the S2 to the S3 to the S4 by paying off these phones early
