Incipio NGP review - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
So i got this case and was playing with it for a couple weeks...I love the material..its strong its solid and its still flexible..HOWEVER the buttons are killing me
the screen on n off is horrible..kinda like the d3o...very sad to see a kick ass case done with such a crappy and silly mistake
Im going to cut it like i did my d3o and see if that helps
enjoy
http://youtu.be/Ivm4YPxElfo

Update.. so I cut the buttons a little bit and it made a huge difference .sucks that I had to mod the case in order to be perfect ..but it did the trick

I've got this case too and also have the D3O for my GS2. This one isn't nearly as bad as the D3O as far as button pressing goes. I've had no problems pressing them since day one, while my D3O took weeks to break in.

Same here, the D30's buttons were worse.
The texture and the feeling on hand is very similar to the D30 which I missed but over all, I love this case.
Imho, this case is much better than the Diztronic TPU.

Spot on review Raul.
I bought this case a few weeks back, really like it, but the power button is really killing me
Did you cut out the plastic completely from the power button on the case? I was curious before I get the exacto knife out and start hacking away, if removing the plastic from the case that goes over the power button would make it easily accessible or not?

Don’t cut off the buttons completely. Just use the razor to cut along the sides of the buttons to release some of the material.

Thank you pacer! The botton was getting so mad it was killing all the awesomeness of the case. I did not cut the whole button all the way.I kinda made indentations to remove pressure and to kinda get it to be pressed. If you just take the phone out press the button and kinda make it look inside out you can start hacking away..Just do it slowly and test it every little move you make until u get the perfect feeling

New TPU case that doesn't cover the power button

This looks very cool, a TPU case that doesn't cover the power button. That was the biggest reason I didn't like my tpu case that I had previously bought. Anyone have this on yet? Looks like it is OEM from HTC.

They look pretty nice but the cutout for the camera flash on the back looks too small. It might result in off-colored photos
I like that grey one a lot! TPU case with OEM quality? I think I'll get one.
Hmmm HTC Pedia has them for cheap!

i actually prefer the ones without the cut-outs. i keep it in my pocket all day, and the amount of dust and junk getting between the case & phone would be crazy with that case.
i got one of these and the buttons are pretty easy to find & push because they are built up on the outside of the tpu case.

I don't think two extra cut outs is going to make all that much difference as my currently one already has 7 holes in it. I hate the fact that my current one has the dock pins exposed so I going to try the HTC one out. Additionally, I find it hard using the covered camera button. The extra force required moves the camera enough sometimes to make a difference.
I ordered it from DayDeal and it should be at my house in a couple of days being we are both in CA.

With a cut-out the power button will be recessed so this might not be an issue. I'll report back after I get my HTC one and compare it to my Epik one.

Excellent find. I've been very disappointed with my T-Mobile silicone case. It's not nearly as heavy or rigid as the silicone case I had on my Vibrant, and attracts so much lint!
Just a heads up: NewEgg has the OEM HTC TPU case for $10.
Item search: HTC 70H00324-00M
I will probably pick this up, if others seem to be happy with it. It's a shame that I'll have to remove the case every time I want to use any docks (assuming we'll ever see charging pin docks besides this one).

Ebay TPU Hybrid Case - Pictures

I received the Clear TPU case from eBay today. I had the same one on my Vibrant. It fits great, but there are no cutouts for volume rocker or power button. Got it for $10 USD shipped.

Have the same thing but took it out at once because it was so hard to access the power button and volume rocker! IMO, the best case right now is the one from body glove sold @ tmobile! Has a more pronounced rubber volume and power buttons!

Hey Thanks for the pics.
How is the feeling of the phone with the case on compared to it off in terms of size and feel in hand?
The power and volume buttons are harder to press but the pros of protection override the inconvenience.
In terms of size, it does add a bit of bulk bit not enough to bother me. You can still pocket it and it looks great. I can hold it more securely as well, I dont feel like i will drop this sucker now. Over all for ten bucks its worth it. Highly recommend.

Thanx for posting, I had a similar Aquaflex for my sensation.........Can't go wrong with these, and I dig the fact that the power buttons and vol rocker are covered.
Thanks for the pics! I just ordered this case yesterday and it's nice to see how it fits and looks before receiving it. I had a similar case for my HTC G2 (Desire Z) and I cut parallel slits next to the power button with my Xacto knife to make it easier to push. Works great!

I just received the exact came case in the mail yesterday. Good case, but a little tough to press the volume and power buttons. It also is a bit slick, the phone has fallen out of my pocket when sitting a few times already.
That's one of the beauties about our phone in that it being so thin, a case will even it out perfectly.
Unlike other phones like the MT4GS that was thick already, when I put a case on it it was a brick. Not the case here with ours...
Very fortunate.

Yeah I'm pretty partial to Zagg, had one on my Evo as well as Sensation and never ever hand a issue with them. I'll be ordering a Zagg shortly and I'll report back once I have it on. I'll probably end up switching cases though too as I don't like how hard it is to press both the power and volume buttons with the D30 case. Otherwise it's really a great case, I just think once all the other players start getting their cases out, they'll be a better buy.

Spigen Neo Hybrid Lumi Review

I got my neo hybrid lumi case in the mail today ( I go the blue and grey) and wanted to do a quick review.
First off all let me say, that so far I haven't had any of the problems with the buttons some people have been talking about. The volume rocker is a bit sensitive, but I haven't had any problem with it changing on it's own. Also simply holding firm on the sides won't push my buttons either, I squeezed all around the edges and didn't have any problems.
This case looks awesome it is very sleek and doesn't add much bulk to the phone. The holes for ports are all cut smoothly and adequately. The port on the camera is the very slightest bit uneven but nothing anyone would probably notice unless they were really looking and definitely not anything that will effect the use of the camera or protection.
The TPU portion of this case is slightly different than I was expecting. It is a bit harder and less flexible than I expected. My biggest problem with the case is that the TPU is very slick. It offers very little if nothing at all in the way of grip.
As far as protection goes, I haven't dropped my case or done anything extreme, but the case seems to offer very decent protection especially considering how sleek it is. The back and corners are well protected and feel pretty confident that if I did drop it I wouldn't have any scratches or major damage on my phone. There is a nice lip around the front screen to give a buffer if it were to be set down on it's face. The case fits snug and I don' think would fall off if dropped.
Overall I am very happy with this case, I was hoping for a bit more grip, but I really can't complain considering how good it looks and the protection I'm getting
I had one of these for my iPhone 4 and the plastic shell snapped when I was taking it off.
How dangerous/sturdy is it on the GS3 version?

It is fairly rigid, but I have taken mine on and off a couple times and no problems so far. I have been leaving the hard plastic attached to the tpu part which doesn't require it to bend much though

My screen protector doesn't fit in the least. It covers part of the front facing camera and yet there is ample space at the right of the home button. If you can imagine that, you'll understand just how off mine is. It goes on well but my cut outs are quite off.
I also have the button issues. I just got mine today. Throwing an email to them tonight.

I got this case a few days ago and immediatley noticed the volume button sensitivity issue as soon as I installed it. The issue I experianced is that any time I put any pressure anywhere near the volume rocker, it would depress the button and raise/lower the volume. I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times but no matter what I did the issue remained. Emailed SPG and they requested photos and or video of the problem. They also wanted to know which S3 varinat I had. Hopefully I just got a bad one because I think it is a nice case otherwise.

Yup that's exactly what happened to me. I was the one who 1st posted the issue and now after a couple of days I got use to the sesnsativity of the buttons and where not to squeeze but I will be contacting them I think that's way to much for me to let slide for such a high quality case. I still slip at times and it's just annoying have to hit the back button every time you press the power button for to long and getting the shut off option when you are in the middle of something.
why dont you guys remove the case and push outward on the inside of the volume rocked portion to stretch it out a little bit.
use something small to get right in there
yeah i have the same color!! I thought I broke the case cuz it got dissembled. Have no problem with it so far.

I've had mine for about two weeks now and haven't had too many issues with the volume sensitivity. Occasionally it happens after I've taken the case off and put it back on but then I just adjust the case and it doesn't happen anymore. I can squeeze both sides near the rocker and power button and they will not activate and when changing the volume the controls don't stick.
I did think the case was going to be a little thicker than it is and I doubt the plastic frame adds much more protection. This is one reason I'm debating buying another case with a little more protection (commuter/aegis/active type case).
I do like the looks of the case, which is one of the reasons I bought one instead of sticking with the Diztronic cases I have which are also pretty good.
So I received this case today (I live in Australia, postage takes forever). I have issues with the sensitivity of the buttons as they often stick. I've emailed Spigen about what they will do but I'll probably just take a razor or something to the inside buttons and wear them down a little.
On a positive note though, the packaging is amazing and the case feels like it is sturdier than my cheap tpu case from Ebay. It also looks great.

Trident Aegis problems?

Just received my aegis yesterday. My first impression was horrible. This case is darn near impossible to put on and once I did, the volume up button wasn't working and I ended up taking the case apart and put it back on 3 more times for it to work. Now that it works, if I press the volume buttons too hard, they will get stuck and I have to pry them up again. Anyone experiencing this and what did you do to fix it? I'm thinking about returning it.

I got the same case on my s3 and I haven't had any problems with my volume buttons. The case is a very tight fit took me a few minutes to get it on the first time. I would suggest trying to wiggle the silicone into place. Or maybe your case got cut wrong in the factory so its slightly off center maybe try contacting trident to get a replacement.

easy fix (atleast for me)
when i got mine i noticed at first it was a PIA but i asked my cell guy the easiest way to get it out because i have to have the phone naked when attaching it to my bike mount. So after he showed me you could take the right bottom corner and pull the phone out real easy after pushing the rubber off, i tried the exact same thing in reverse putting the top in first from the bottom and sliding it in now the only thing is i have to massage the bottom piece of silicone strip above the charging port. Other than that i have had no problems with any of my rocker switches and i have taken it out several times.
if anyone wants a video lemme know and i will attempt to make one hope it helps
Been there...done that...
Exchange it. Unless you have an Exacto knife and the steady hand of a surgeon, you're gunna be stuck with those problems...not saying that all of them are like that, but my experience with Trident is 50/50. (personal and from friends)
If you like the slick fast in and out of pocket feel and want better than average protection, then the Otterbox Commuter is the way to go. I've yet to see ANYONE with ANY phone complain of misaligned this or that or buttons that stick and etc with any Otterbox...but if you don't mind a slightly bulkier case but has the protection like a tank, then the Otterbox Defender has got to be hands down THE best case around.
But that's me...who doesn't care about the color or the slight bulk (BTW, the defender cases are a bit harder to get in and out of pocket and it honestly does "wear" to a shiny finish on certain parts that hit the pocket or whatever, but not normally noticeable at first glance or at all...) but I know that my phone will have the FULLEST resale/exchange value when I "upgrade" to the next phone.
The SG3's screen lip could have been a little bit shallower. It tends to make it "look" bulkier than it really is because of that, but having already dropped my phone 3 times I'm PRETTYYY sure my insurance investment has already paid off.
Just my 2 cents...

How come a silicone case like this, that is totally not acceptable.
How I put my phone in the case is...
1: put 1/2 to 3/4 of the silicone into the plastic, make sure the buttons are pushed through the plastic and headphone jack cover is set.
2: push top of the phone through the case making sure the sides of the phone are in the silicone part of the case. Push it all the to the top.
3: put the bottom of phone into the silicone case, making sure the phone doesn't come out of the rest of the case.
4: slide the phone, with the silicone around the bottom, into the bottom of the plastic.
5: use toothpick or something that won't damage case or phone and push or poke the edges of the silicone inside the plastic that is sticking out.

Toothpicks?
Toothpicks? Really? All I did was push the phone in. It took some some time, since I've never used a case like this before. I just followed the YouTube vid on SmartPhonePedia's channel. You learn something new every day.
Sent form my laptop.

when i got mine i noticed at first it was a PIA but i asked my cell guy the easiest way to get it out because i have to have the phone naked when attaching it to my bike mount.

I was having the same problem. After putting the phone in the case the volume rocker would work for a while however eventually would get stuck.
I removed the hard shell and it would work fine when it was just in the soft inner case.
Instead of dealing with returning the case (because I really like it outside of the issue with the volume rocker) I decided to fix it myself.
What I did was take a single edge razor (WackyJoe references an exacto knife) and cut around the perimeter of the rubber nub that fits over the volume rocker (do it slowly). This in turn removes the entire rubber nub that fits over the volume rocker.
The bad thing about doing this is the volume is harder to adjuster because it sits inside the case instead of sticking out . It is still adjustable, you just have to use the tip of your fingernail. The good thing is that I no longer accidentally adjust my volume when I pick up the phone which happened constantly with or without the case.
I think this case is great minus the minor issue with the volume.

had the same problem, what i did was leave the two pieces together, then slide the side with the power button into the case at a slight angle them pushed the other side down, now everything work properly
I've tried about every way possible . I did some searching and it seems lots of others on amazon are having the same issue and spigen is aware of it

Looking at the forums the last couple days, boy did I choose wrong. I ordered the slim armor and the glas.tr protector. I already know both will be faulty when they get here.
I see this as more of a user error. It comes down to how you put the case on.
Put the case on in one piece and you won't have problems.
Put the tpu on, then put the hard shell on after and you'll run into issues (stuff binds up).
This case is a very tight fit to the phone. So you have to be careful installing it.
I'm glad I saw this thread, I was going to ask the same thing myself. The volume buttons work perfect but the power button sticks.
I just received this email:
We are very sorry for inconvenience, we have received revised rubber part, please advise whether you would like us to send you new rubber part? or whether you prefer a refund.

I would take their offer. I'm still waiting for an email back myself. I was reading on Amazon reviews that Spigen is sending customers a new backplate that corrects the issue.
Sent an e-mail to Spigen 2 days ago on both Amazon and their website regarding getting a replacement Slim Armor, have gotten no response . Hope I get one soon. I love the way the Slim Armor feels. As long as the issue is fixed this will be my permanent case.

Do you work for apple? Jk
He did say he tried installing it different ways though.
It's just a case, it should work without having to do anything special. Most people aren't reading these threads or trying different ways to install a simple case for it to work the way it was intended.

I tried putting mine on over a dozen or so times in just about every way imaginable. Even did some trimming and tried sticking the point of a knife under the rubber power button flap and pull it through more once the phone was put in the case and it still has the issue. Even tried stretching the hardshell out a bit. Though all in all I'd say that both the volume and power buttons are too easy to depress in general and the tightness on some units makes the issue even worse. I contacted Spigen and hope to get a replacement as I really don't see any other cases out there I want . If need be I'll just completely cut the power button out even though I shouldn't have to do that.
It's not user error. Some cases seem to be fine, but some have the button issue. The inside nub that presses the hardware button is too tall. I trimmed mine and it is perfect. Great case otherwise - protective and not bulky.

Have the same exact case. Was one of the first people to order it. I don't have a problem with the power button sticking. So it probably isn't every case. I install it by having both the rubber and plastic part together first and pushing the phone in.
