Google Play crashes after MTD partitioning on Cyanogenmod 7.2 - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've used guide found in this forum to create MTD partition for Wildfire Cyanongenmod 7.2 RC with system of 140 MB and 15 mb of cache making 320 MB of internal memory. I've also enabled APP2SD Scripts for ext4. The issue that Google Play force closes and I've tried all methods to fix it by clearing cache reinstalling it but in vain. Any solutions?

Maybe it's crashing because it's on the ext partition. But I'm not sure as my SDcard isn't partitioned. My system is 125 MB and cache 5 MB which gives me 335 MB of internal space.

I think its playing around cache not ext

[Q] [SOLVED] too low memory with app2sd+

Hi,
I use runnymede Rom since a few versions. From 4.9 to AiO v2.1 I've changed my partition on sd card from ext3 to ext4 and resized it to 1gb from 512mb. And here is problem, which is after update to AiO 2.4. I always use standard app2sd+ script because xd2sd (2nd script in runnymede) caused that my system was very unstable (tested on differents versions). Nevermind.
With app2sd+ script I've got too low memory free instead of I should have - titanium backup shows
Rom system 152, 22mb free
Phone memory 301, 34 free
SD 14.8gb, 12,2gb free
SD (a2sd) 1.08gb 614mb free
In settings -> apps -> manage apps -> I've got 239mb using, free only 49mb. In phone memory shows using 2,4gb, free 11gb..
Why?

Because app2sd+ moves stuff to SD in the background as it were. It does not show as internal free memory. Instead when you install an app, app2sd+ will automatically move as much as it can to the ext partition, but some of it still goes to internal. Increasing your ext part size won't help as it has nothing to do with what the phone reports as free internal memory.
Hope that helps.
Booce
I see, thanks for clear it to me.

Must be cache accumulation. Install Apps 2 SD or Cachemate (if you are rooted) to clear cache. Or you could do it in recovery by selecting Wipe Cache. If you are rooted, install A2SD if your ROM is compatible. You can move all apps to SD using A2SD and you'l have more or less 185 MB free in your Internal Memory. Try Bass ROM.
well...I thought cache won't use that much memory. nevertheless, thats normal if you're using a custom deodexed rom. as raolemo said, you may install kernel with a2sd support (like the one in bass). but, if you don't want to use other rom nor install new kernel, using link2sd will help you maintain your internal memory.

[Q] DAvlik cache not working it says.....

when i wipe davlik cache it says
"E:unknown volume for path (/sd-ext)"

Yep. For those who do not know. Sd-ext was mainly used on older phones with sdcards.
Such as my nexus one. That only had 200mbs of space to install apps to.
So you would partition your sdcard into 2 parts.
One ext partition that would be mounted as sd-ext and the other as fat32 which would be seen in android as your sdcard.
You would then link parts of your small internal storage to the new partition on your sdcard (usually /data/app/ or /data/dalvik-cache/)
this would free up precious space so you could install a useable amount of apps.
As the one x has 1gb allocated to the data partition this is no longer an issue and such there is no need to use the sd-ext anymore

Keeping running out of memory for apps

Hi All
Really am getting tired of running out of memory on my rooted desire. I used the CyanogenMod and now the Mildwild 5.0 but i`m only managing to install around 5-6 apps before i get the memory is low notification and am unable to install anymore. Any ideas what i`m doing wrong before I go and buy a new phone to end this madness hehe?
For example According to Mounts2SD app my storage is
Internal (/data) 132mb of 147mb
External /sd-ext 75mb of 3.75gb
Cache /sd-ext/cache 75mb of 3.75gb
Applications 10.85mb
System apps 2.0kb
Data 53Mb
Dalvik Cache 70.97MB
First of all, wipe everything. Then repartition your sdcard using 4ext recovery and now assign only 1gb of storage to your ext4 partition. Also change your Hboot to a more efficient one like CM7r2 Hboot. Have a look at alpharev.nl for that. Finally, reflash your rom(preferably any of Mildwild's) and setup a2sd again from terminal or use mount2sd from playstore.
