[Q] Games no compatible with ICS?? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there some games that doesn't work with ICS? There are a few games that I bought that either freeze my phone(GTA3) or the game auto closes as soon as it gets into the actual game(Dungeon Defenders)
Also another think i just remembered. In TrialX2(Gas*I think*) and Blood and Glory(Dodge right) the O button brings up a option menu.

Anyone know?? I just spent like 30$ on games and some aren't working at all.

If you're asking if some games just don't work correctly on ICS like they should, then yes.
If circle is bringing up the options menu, that means that game isn't supporting the Xperia's gamepad, so it's trying to go "back" instead.

Well its Trial Xtreme 2 SE Xperia Play is the name of the game on the market.

Also they worked on 2.2.3(2.3.3?) whatever it ships with.

Google Play Store has that app isn't even compatible with my ICS Xperia Play, so maybe that tells you something. Not really sure though.

Being ICS is BETA.
Yes, there will be problems.
Go back to gingerbread if you want games.

Is FPSe working on your GS II?

Is it working? I get the Sony screen, then the 2nd piece of music recognising the ROM, then nothing?
Can you try it as well?
I don't got the SGS2 yet. But that sounds more like you trying to play Final Fantasy 7-9? Or another Squaresoft game. They have some serious copy protections and Fpse is really sensitive. It needs a 100% good/accurate rom or it won't work =/
EDIT: I've tried to rip my discs many times on different PCs. Still don't got roms that work with Fpse
i had a quick try of an .img of omega boost and it worked fine. was so damn loud it woke the whole house up 5am lol.

I've not tried it on my s2 yet but have you selected a bios? many dont seem to work without one and you seem to have to select it for each game and also it seems to not get set the first time you select it.
Go settings set bios if it says "you need to restart" then click quit-> restart
then when it is running again double check that the bios is selected if not try again
working

i just used scph1001 and save it from the menu after youve selected it. ive just tried ff 1-9 plus fftactics and they all work. needs spu sync for better sound.
FPSe working fine with MGS for me. God I love that game.
It's GENSoid & SNESoid that are causing me problems. I literally can not get a single rom to load in it. The app recognizes the roms, but always exits back to rom list when trying to load one. GBCoid is working perfectly, though. It's doing my head in.

I got to play one or two games, but FPSe is flaky on my SGS II.
Then again, Mini Squadron is crashing a lot too, which i've never had on any phone before. Mid-level, it just locks up.
At this moment in time, I'm not sure if it's my device or the software, as general usage is fine.

I'm using CloneCD, don't remember the version name but it was like 2-3 months ago. I've used the guide written by CloudStrife86 @ http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=156. But still no go :S
for me FPse works fine apart from loading state for time crisis. Gensoid has no problems

Sorry its a little off original topic, but snesoid works fine for me on SG2. No problems loading roms at all.

I must be using an older version, then. Off to Google I go!
Fpse works for me. Tried Gran Turismo and a couple of Crash Bandicoots so far.
As for older emulators, I've been using the Tiger versions instead of the *oid ones. Tiger SNES works, Tiger Genesis doesn't. Weird.

Can you help me ?
Thanks for yours answers.

broken touch pad :(

Hi all.
I have just gone play dead space today and my analogue controls no longer work. I've tested on other games as well and making sure the touch analogues are set up in the controls and they are.
I'm guessing I'm going to have to send the phone back to Sony? :'(
Don't panic...did you download any apps recently? What were the last few things you downloaded before the touchpads stopped working? Some apps mess with the game pad that's why I'm asking.

Give me ideas for a text based game?

Well I am an Android Developer + PHP & HTML developer so for my recent project I will be developing a text based game which will mainly be for Xperia Play.
BUT there is 1 problem.
What would this community ( you guys ) like to see in a text based game and would you play them.
Im not advanced enough in Android Development just yet for more complex and advanced games

Not to put a dampener on it, but the Xperia play isn't really suited to text based games.
With the phone in portrait mode the keyboard is too small for my fat fingers. Swype input alleviates some of this. Also the displayed text is minimal.
With the phone in landscape mode you can't see anything, except what you are typing and the keyboard.
The main benefit of the play is the control pad.

Maybe he doesn't necessarily mean text-based as in typing a lot of text yourself, but a text adventure as reading a lot and chose from different options? Like Radical Dreamers for the SNES. I kind of like those games myself, as well as point & click games.

lol u realise this is 2011. but yeah the only text based game i played is zork on 360 via the black ops easter egg
What does living in 2011 have to do with it? Living in 2011 doesn't at all mean we need every game to be graphically advanced with complex controls. I dislike todays games myself. I find much more joy in older retro games and that's the only games I play on my phone. I didn't but it for any of the "new" games.

well that in it self seems pointless why buy a "top of the range well design anyway phone" to play something that can be played on any device with like over a 400mhz processor? but yeah i didnt mean it how you think i did. i meant like why create a text based game for a device that is not really a text based device (no keyboard) why not create it for a PC or other mobile device e.g. the xperia x10 (yes i realise it for android but i believe the xperia x10 to be more suited)

The controls, perhaps?
By the way the SNES emulators needs at least 1Ghz processor to run smoothly. Preferably more to avoid slowdowns in hectic situations.
He might mean text adventures like Love Sims, as in choosing different options will make you advance (seduce the girl) or lose (make her hate you). I took part in one of those projects myself, as a translator... It wasn't published, but it was a lot of fun.

Interesting. I have just finished Chrono Cross, after playing Chrono Trigger. Somehow missed them both first time around. Will have to take a look at this.
I remember playing Fighting Fantasy books when I was younger, which seems similar.

Yeah. This is the link between the two games. I have not played it myself either but I plan to soon. I have also only discovered the original Chrono games in later years also.

[Q] Xplay exclusives on custom rom

Hi everybody, lately, I'm wanting to get rid of Sony themes and annoying apps, and install a Stock ICS.
But as an avid FIFA 12 player, but I'm worried if this game will work, because it's exclusive for Xperia Play.
So, will it work?

If you go completely AOSP, and use a rom with NO Sony (Ericcson) material you will lose the touchpads and may also lose the directional buttons and the 4 shapes buttons as they are specific to the Sony software. You should still be able to use the touch screen with the game but that is if it will even load. I believe there are Stock Gingerbread roms with some Sony stuff left in it so that it will still use the full touchpads and game controller, if I am wrong someone please correct me but from what I have read this is what I found no Sony specific software isntalled no game controller. Like CM7 no touchpads or game controller and if there is support its only on a limited number of games like Shadowgun, etc.

So, I have to install a Rom based on Sony, uninstall all crap, based on a list of safe removal it can be found on this forum, and then keep hours customizing it to look like the original thing...
Damn!

For speed and ease of use this is what I do. I use titanium to backup all my apps. Then I do a Custom Recovery backup before trying a new ROM. Then wipe and flash teh new ROM, then once its all booted up, I use titanium to remove the system apps, then restore the apps you have backed up you want to restore. I did a full blank slate on my phone 2 weeks ago an what used to take hours took about 30 minutes. But yeah it sucks, this method just makes it suck a little less. And when you restore from Titanium it will at least restore all your apps data. so like I restored my GO launcher and all my wallpapers and widgets were restored as well.

[Q] Problem with Virtual Controller in any game

I didn't play any games with the virtual controller (muffin knight for example) before I flashed the leaked ICS. Now I got my tablet flashed with ICS and rooted. Every games with the virtual controller has this problem. Any buttons that I pressed, it'll just stuck there. For instance, if I press "left", the character will keep going left. If I press "jump", the character will keep jumping.
Does anyone experience this problem before ? Please help. Thank you.
I was wondering about this as well, because it does that on Colosseum as well.

This is one of (if not the main) the reasons that I have downgraded and stuck to Honey Comb os...the games that I frequently play in my leisure (mc 3...shadow gun etc) do not function properly on ICS. Until the powers that be finalize the ICS rom there will be issues with ICS and the compatibility of games. Check around to see if there is any documentation as to a work-around way to get these games working
