[POLL] [DISCUSSION] What case do you currently use on your phone ? - General Accessories

What case do you currently use on your phone?
It is very curious to understand why users prefer some types of cases to others.
What is the difference?
What brands would you suggest, and why do you prefer it?

I used otter box on my moto photon 4g, but I stopped using it recently as the weather is getting much hotter, it seems to retain a lot of heat and my phone constantly shuts off at random in my pocket as I'm out in the sun most of the day... I still left the screen protector on it and it works pretty good... just no case

Trident Kraken for my Evo 4g, similar to otterbox but much cheaper.

For my HD7, i use two different case :
Soft sillicon case at home, only to prevent small contacts
Leather case (HTC Branded) for when i'm out !

Naked! My Xperia X8 handles everything!!! Mohahaha!!!

I use cheap cases typically from eBay. I currently have a rubber/silicon one and a hard snap-on one that I use. I switch them out when I get noted with the feel of one of them.

I used to use silicon cases, but I have been trying leather cases lately. There are actually nice leather wallet cases, surprisingly!

I use silicon case, just for make sure my phone are safe from any accident

Current is plastic case with flip.
Next, I looking for "Super water-dust-atomic-bomb protected case"

Got an otterbox on this thing. Working in a rebar factory, it's almost a must have now.

I have a Seidio active two piece case for my epic 4G Touch.. I love it and great protection not too much bulk.. Was only 30 plus a holster.. Most cases cost that much for cheap plastic bag crap

You could add one more option to the pool, TPU+PC , one example is Momax iCase Pro i have been using one for several months now and it is very good, still looks like brand new, and offers great protection my phone fell off several times and only a little scratch on the case.

I'm not using any case, i haven't found any enough comfortable

I use a silicon Otter Box

this one. only 14€

my captivate is naked atm. Though without the case, it really can take a beating. Dropped it at least 20 times by now and not a scratch on the screen.

Otter box defender is my choice.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium

Otterbox defender for when i go to school, and when I am at home, I swith to my hard plastic incase case for my iPhone. My droid incredible is always naked. And so is my tablet.

idea
yaa its a very nice idea

I have a silicon case for my Samsung Galaxy Player 5, i prefer silicon over other materials because it's most flexible, easy to put on or take off, water resistant unlike leather and doesn't break if twisted like plastic.

a lot of rave about this case and i must agree. minimalistic cases that don't add a lot of bulk are the way to go!
i'm definitely ordering one when i get mine. thanks for the pics. i can clearly see how high it raises in the front.
have you had any issue with the case scratching the back of your phone? or if it decreases signal/GPS? (see this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764406)
This case fits perfectly. I haven't noticed any difference with gps either, it wasnt working before the case and still isnt working. As for the case scratching the phone, I dont think that will happen because the case isnt hard enough to scratch and I still have the plastic on the back of my phone.

i have this case and it does fit well, i'm not a fan of the back, but alas this is really all we've got right now. i also noticed that i have scratches on the front bezel near the top and bottom of the phone. i think maybe dust or debris get trapped there and just start to rub. i dont think there is a way to fix it though. i had the same issue with cases and the metal bezel on my iphone.
What is this case made from, and how does it feel? Just curious

Its gel/rubber, it feels really good and durable. Adds a nice grip to the phone...

I think most people have found them at AT&T Stores, though they can be found online if you search hard enough.
See: hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761355
I picked up a body glove from Best Buy. I waited until they unboxed them and tied it before I went and checked out. Great fit, flexible but thick and offers decent protection. Not what you would get from a hard case, but one of the better gloves I have tried. 24 plus tax.
This is the case I am using until Otterbox releases something I like better. I am not too sure I need an otterbox but I have no issues with this case (body glove)
It fits just fine and offers enough protection for my needs.
I picked up the gel case from samsung's website that says galaxy s on the back, it is pricy at 30 bucks but it fits and looks awesome and has actual raised buttons which is great,i had an all black one but this is a sweet phone and I want it to look sweet, if you spent 200 or more to get a sweet phone spend 30 bucks and get the nicest case made that looks awesome as well, ya know what maybe it was 20 bucks can't remember

Looking for a Case recommendation

I know there are a lot of threads already about cases for my Samsung G II (Epic 4G Touch)
Heres the thing. I don't want a huge case. Why get a sleek thin phone just to put a bulky case on it?
What are some suggestions for a minimalist case that is better than just putting a sticker on it?
There are a few choices that I have found...
Hard Snap on Case - very thin but doesn't protect from drops very well
soft thin case very thin but I would imagine it would be hard to get in and out of a pocket from it "sticking" to your pants.
Trident Aegis case not as thin as the others, but definitely not bulky. Very good protection, no kickstand however.
Casemate Pop White case with kickstand pretty much like the aegis with a kickstand. I have one but I am not impressed with the build quality of the silicone. It flakes off in places due to the friction of pulling it out of a pocket.
For the "sticker" route the best I've found is:
Full Body Invisible Shield This will protect from scratches but not drops, etc.
Got one of these a few months ago and couldn't be happier.

Incipio feather light has treated me well. Very sleek and light.
This is the case i have had since the phone came out. Love the case! Sleek, slim and protects your phone. There is a whole thread about this case. Price is great too. I highly recommend it!!
Hope that helped. Happy Hunting.

I would personally have to say the Trident Ageis, very close to the otterbox line but available in more colors...plus they are a tad cheaper as well...
doesn't really get more minimal than this. I have one on all 3 of my phones. comes in different colors.

I disagree. The matte version of Diztronic's (formerly TPU Cases) case does not stick at all. There is just enough of a texture to feel like you have a solid grip, but smooth enough that it never sticks in your pocket.
I have the same requirements in a case as the OP, and I think a TPU case is a great idea. It has protected my phone from a handful of short falls onto a variety of surfaces without an issue.
I purchased the case after reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266308
I believe the overwhelming majority of reviews are positive for the case. Check out the Diztronic's page here: http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36&products_id=147
I am curious about the Nillkin case, but considering they seem to be only available when ordering from China, and that in the past, I've had snap-on cases scratch phones, I am worried. Here is a review of a Nillkin case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485054
Buy a few different ones and figure out what you like best. I tried a few different styles of tpu/rubber case and ended up with a trident aegis. My phones in the past all had minimal rubber case or none but it just feels right on this phone.

That looks like a great case, does it have a built in screen protector? Is it too grippy to slip in and out of a pocket when you aren't using the holster?
It looks like he has a separate screen protector installed, so I'd say no.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Yup wyatyoss, its the sp from the otterbox commuter. Only negative for me is it doesn't fill the whole screen but aside from that its a really tough and scratch resistant protector.
Thanks cade80, its a great case and I recommend it if ur looking for a rugged and functional case and holster. Its not too grippy at all really, goes in and out of pockets just fine as long as its not cramped in with other stuff.

It's a little grippy, but still easily goes in/out of your pocket. The only complaints I have are:
1. The rubber part is a lint magnet. Not a big deal since it wipes off pretty easily.
2. The clip on the holster hooks on a rubber part of the case. It makes it pretty difficult to holster the GNex with one hand since the clip catches the rubber part. It would be nice if the case had plastic at the top so it would just click in to the holster.
Despite these little flaws, it's a great setup. I mainly use the holster at work so I don't have to worry about it getting nasty while in my sweaty pockets. lol.
Bought two for both mine and my Bros gnex. Its really nice got both for 22$ each at www.versiomobile.com I love it... he thinks it slips too easily out of the hand.

I use this case with the verizon lte version + extended battery.. it's tight, but works..
I've had this case now for months.. I rarely use the kickstand sadly.. however the kickstand is a bit weak and the phone leans a little more than I would like while using the kickstand.. but its the best option I've found thus far..

Opinion on cases?Silicone,TPU,hard,something else?

Hey there guys...i just ordered my s3 and i saw a few videos where the s3 screen breaks very easily!
I also read the silicone cases or the TPU ones provide excellent shock resistance so i'm thinking of buying one!
What do you think?Which case will provide more protection to my phones screen? (i'm only intrested on not breaking the screen, the scratches etc are lower priority...)
I also ordered an InvisibleShield not that it'll make much difference but i'm just sayin'...
For me.. Both!
There are some cases that has both soft (mostly tpu) and hard frames stacked together for better protection. I'm thinking getting SGP Neo Hybrid when it's released. I believe someone post this video somewhere. But, I couldn't find any image of it. I used it for my galaxy s2, and it was bomb.

I'm using one of the Rocks Sand series cases that I picked up locally for ~10 USD. Big fan of the texture, very easy to grip and it doesn't look bad at all with my pebble blue S3.
One of the biggest bonuses I think is that the headphone jack up top isn't obstructed as it was with some of the previous rubber cases I used with my S2. Headphones with right angle plugs had problems being inserted firmly.
I bought 3 ebay tpu cases for my galaxy s3 and they all have horrible fitment =(...stay away from them
Just got my first case. $5 and it feels like it. Very. Thin, has what appears to be decent grip on the side but hard to tell without the phone. I bought it for the kickstand but it feels pretty cheesy to say the least. It won't even hold itself straight up on its own. If it works well with the actual phone I'll take the time to update my feelings about it.

Try out the otterbox or Kayscase. Otterbox has more protection, larger and more expensive while kayscase makes ones that are slimmer and cheaper.
The Griffin Survivor suffers from some sounds issues. I took the membrane out over the speaker, problem solved.
Other then that it's a great case, I gladly demo the drop protection by throwing and dropping for the heck of it.

I really like my otterbox defender. Very sturdy skeleton includes a durable screen protector similar to like gumdrop cases and shock absorber for the back. the rubber outside is nice to grip and its not the silicone stuff that attracts dust and hair like some do. a little pricey but worth it if you're clumsy like me. also comes in dozens of colors.
SPIGEN have a nice case for S3, little pricey tho
