Landscape desktop dock charging problems - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Since getting my dock about a week and a half ago I had two nights where I woke up and the battery was nearly dead.
Dock mode activates and it claims its charging. But, it obviously does not.
The first time it happened the screen was off so the battery drain was minimal. It just did not charge. Last night however I left the clock on and woke up to a critically low battery. Luckily I went to bed late so there was still enough juice to sound my alarm.
Has anyone else with the landscape dock encountered this?
I've attached a photo to illustrate.

is this the samsung hdmi dock? i read a review on samsungs site claiming the same thing.

No the landscape dock with the pogo pins.

i wonder if this is the problem ive heard about, rumor that 4.0.5 fixes some problem with the pogo pins...

I've only had mine for two days and I have yet to see the issue (on either of my two docks).

I picked up two of these a couple weeks ago and haven't had any issues with charging. Sounds like you either got a bum dock or your device's Pogo pins have problems, sorry.

Annoying. What power source do you have plugged in to it: the factory charger, an aftermarket charger, a computer's USB port, or what?

I've been using the wall charger from my Nexus One.
It's not an every-time occurrence. Just those two nights in the last two weeks.
After looking at my battery stats picture again it looks like it did charge about 25% and then stopped. It must be some sort of software bug.
Maybe if I notice it happening I can try to catch the log and see if that sheds any light.

Where can we find a landscape 3-pin dock? I have the Sprint Nexus (SPH-L700)

Hmmm. It hasn't happened to me since I made this post. I wonder what is causing it to happen?

What rom are you using? How about the clock app? I have the same problem with my dock I made. Worked fine for a bit then all of a sudden no charge overnight.

When it happened to me I was on stock 4.0.4. It only happened twice in the first week and hasn't happened since. I was also using the stock clock app.

Same with me.

Have the screen off.
Put it in the dock, phone will turn on, beep, launch the clock app and start charging.
Press the home button to go back to home screen, again make sure the battery icon shows charging.
Now leave it and the screen will turn off and should charge.
If you just leave the clock app on the phone doesn't go to sleep so you might have background stuff going all night long and it's not charging enough to keep up.

I disagree. It also happened with the screen off as well. There is no way background processes should draw more than the a/c charge. Even with the screen on.

Does anyone know if this is still an issue with JB? I am thinking about getting one of these docks but I'd hate to not have my alarm go off in the morning due to a faulty dock.. Thanks!

Luckily I woke up on time.

Very Strange Way To Start My Day

So I left my phone charging the night before (plugged into to the wall charger), left it charging the whole night. Woke up the next morning and realized there was no power on my phone. I pressed the volume rocker, power button, and home button, but no success. The first thing that came to my mind was Sudden Death Syndrome; I removed the battery and plugged the unit into the wall charger; the Red Sensor light blinked a couple of times. At first I was upset (because I thought it was an SDS issue), but after I inserted the same battery into the battery compartment and connected the phone to the computer, and a few seconds later voila! The phone powered back on. I did some confirmatory tests to make sure the phone was intact, and it sure was. My charger reads 1.8A (~2 amperes), now a problem right now.
Would leaving a charger connected to the Note 2 for a long time result in such an experience? Would voltage fluctuations contribute to this experience?
i have mine plugged to a wall all night at connected with my laptop throughout the day and have never had a problem
I've been having this particular unit since mid-Jan '13. This morning was my first encounter with this predicament. Plugging in the charger now shows no issues. My battery health shows Good, System Status--Normal. According to the system report, there is no indication there was any temperature spike. My phone is unrooted--stock.
Lol, so I realized what I faced yesterday morning had nothing to do with SDS. In fact, there was no issue at all.
My phone was on, even removing the battery and checking the light on the proximity sensor confirmed everything was normal.
The Stupid Vonage App which was responsible, didn't allow my phone display to turn on because the app froze. The Vonage App is so buggy; I wish the company can hire better software developers. Glad I have the T-Mobile version

it is a hardware problem, do a little research about it.. if you are lucky everything will be fine if you push the tounge in the usb port a little to the middle

if the phone shows that it is still charging while the phone is unplugged it sounds like your charging port could be going bad. as far as disabling the screen wake, try doing a google search for an app that can do it, i know the newer versions of the sourcery rom have an option to disable the screen wake on plug/unplug.
I have had the this problem as well and looked into this as possible way to deal with the problem but it really does not help the battery draining issue you are having with the screen wake while unplugging as the apps stop the full wakelock but then you will still get the partial wakelock so you get almost no deep sleep while the phone is on.
The best thing to do is just buy a new usb port and replace it, plus if you are having this issue you probably have lost usb data connectivity as well well i did when this happened. This gnex are super easy to tear down (took me about 10min to replace) and the usb port is like 4-6 dollars plus shipping, not really to much. This happens quite often on the gnex so i just bought 3 when i did it and it was all of like 14 dollars with shipping. But anyway like i said if you are thinking that just stopping the screen from waking is going to stop the massive battery drain that this causes it will not, or well it did not in my case.
Just my two cents on this wonderful usb port they have given us

Help! Screen turns back on after I turn it off

My vzw galaxy nexus keeps turning the screen back on as soon as I turn it off, killing my battery at an average of an hr, maybe 2... Downloaded an app that tells u which apps are turning the screen on (wakelock) and it says none... App also tells how long phone has been awake vs asleep... Phone been awake for about 95% of the time... Please help... Phone almost unusable unless connected to charger... Oh, btw... As soon as I plug it in to the charger the problem disappears...
Running unrooted, stock from vzw... If it helps...

Does the charging battery icon appear when this happens?
There have been quite a few threads about this. The USB charging port is probably bent a little so that it touches the edges.
Beamed from my CM10.1 Galaxy Nexus
Yes the charge icon appears...
My problem isn't so much with the charger... Its with the screen constantly turning on to where it drains my battery.

Just my two cents...
I remember having this exact problem with the Epic 4G Touch, turns out it was the charging port, somehow it got screwed up, I fixed myself by resoldering the usb port. Also, not only the charging icon appeared but the voice command app was launched as well.
If is not that, try a factory reset, change roms, etc...

Charging issue?

hey guys, i've been having an issue with my N2 charging. Seems as though at times the screen shows charging, but after an entire night of charging, i unplug it and its still only at 1 or 2 % more than when i plugged it in 7 hours earlier. This is using the stock charger that came with the phone, i have tried my wife's charger and ger the same issue. But when i use the car charger it doesnt seem to happen. Is there any issues with this that others have had? I know my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket had some wake lock issues(?) with certain chargers, i used the app some one posted and as long as that was clear the phone charged fine. Would that app work for this phone? i'd have to find the link if needed
No one? Any one?

[Q] Nexus 7 turns off

Hello Everyone,
I am a noob on XDA, Please correct me if i have posted in the wrong forum. I bought a new nexus 7 16gb, for some reason when the battery is around 25-30% the tablet turns off itself. Its not shutdown its like pulling the battery of a phone thats on. The only way to start it is by connecting the charger.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I am on the stock rom NOT rooted
Thanks

Have you charged the device to 100% yet? I would do that, leave it charging for an hour after it shows 100% then use it till it dies. Rinse and repeat.

Yes I have charged it 100% multiple times, The only difference is i use a sammy charger that outputs 0.7 amps once in a while. I dont suspect the charging thing to do this.
Are you getting normal use out of a charge? How much screen time in one charge?

Like Highfigh suggested check how long you can run on a full charge. If you get some good hours in then maybe the battery % is not reporting back properly. A reset/restore could possible resolve that issue.
I believe I am getting pretty good charge. I will try once again, I was thinking this might be something with stock rom and hence I posted it online. Thanks every one for the help

exactly the same story here. in my case it's not so easy to turn it on. it would seem like the device is completely discharged, even if it just showed some 40 % battery left. i have to wait several hours to even try to bring it back to recovery mode. very long press does nothing. it happened couple of times already. very annoying with such seemingly superb tablet. i'm not living in the us of a, so no quick replacement for me
That's bad I can turn on mine in a few minutes. Again mine happens very rarely. I also get an excellent battery life. How long does yours go on a charge.
I would also like to know if there is any kind of Logs that we can look at. It's getting irritating, did you try rooting your device to see if that might fix the problem.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I got the same problem recently, I think it was after the last update on the firmware. Everytime the battery reach around 35% it just went off.
