Food For thought! Rom's Rom's Rom's - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Starting Off, I just wanted to thank everyone again for getting me the T989, I love this Phone & I love everyone at xda for it as well!!!
Now, I can't help but laugh because when I first got this device I seen a ton of posts *****ing about the Rom selection...
We now have:
ICS CM9 Alpha
ICS TW
GB TW
GB CM7
MIUI/CM7 GB ( Coming today )
The Dev, has really picked up as of lately on this device & I can't be more happier than I am now
This thread is mostly pointless, but still I wanted to say thanks to everyone again!
Thank you!!!
~Eugene

I must say, y'all need to thank your skyrocket brothers, for without them you would have nothing

Lock for being pointless.
JK! I must say development has picked up and I've seen much less flame fests and useless posts than I used to.
You have been a huge contributor and without your help we wouldn't have half those roms! Thank you!

I gotta say Eugene, I'm pregnant. Don't you dare deny our son his parent! I forgive you.

Though I thank them, it is a bit of a stretch to say we would have nothing. If anything, we just wouldn't have ICS yet.

Very true!
Pretty happy with this device's development now

Good stuff,
Eugene, you're welcome to hop on the wagon with the rest of the team for CM9. I know you have some stuff rattling around up in your head about some issues we have on our tracker

I'm gonna be mad at you if MIUI ruins my finals week.
But really, it's awesome we have so many great devs on this device

without eugene, we would only have touchwiz roms.
hats off to him

Yeah the development is coming along nicely now. All the people who jumped ship for the nexus will be regretting it, very soon. This phone is the best phone I've had hands down, even the stock rom was quite usable. (Which in my experience, is rare.) I also love the fact that everyone is working together now, it's great, everybody wins.

Its nice to see some all these great roms. The hard part is choosing one.

Eh. While I'll miss Eugene's (along with other dev's) ROMs I'm not regretting the switch so far, especially once the next android update/version comes around

Thank you four breathing life into our community. The money we spent getting you a phone was MORE than worth it.

#TeamWhiskey Let's get the ball rolling!

http://www.teamwhiskey.com/
Hey guys,
I wanted to ask everyone here for your help to get the ball rolling to get TEAM WHISKEY start developing for our phone. They just need a few more funds to get the phone for them to start cooking something REAL GOOD.
Now, if you had the Vibrant you know exactly who they are and what they can do.
If you don't just go to the Vibrant forum and search BIONIX 1.3.1. Best Vibrant rom made #PERIOD They brought Froyo to the Vibrant way before Tmobile release an update. They turned the Vibrant from a POS to a great phone.
So can they bring ICS to our phone before an update?, MAYBE. They definitely can if all the source is there. (once it's out)
They took a break, but now are making there way back to the scene.
Now this is not exactly a bounty because a donation is not necessarily needed, but would definitely help.
All you have to do is go to there webpage http://www.teamwhiskey.com/ and click on one of their adsense ads and they will get credit for it.
Now if you would like to donate you can register and donate there.
Either way I hope you guys help with at least a click of the mouse.
Believe me when I say that you won't regret it.
I know we already have some great devs here, but these guys are known for changing the game.
Thanks everyone. I am not a member of Team Whiskey, but a great FAN.
PLEASE NO FLAMING
If you don't want to do it, please just move on. Your negativity is not needed. Only positive people that want even more greatness on their phones.

Just a minor reminder TeamWhiskey have left XDA and they do their DEV work in their own forum, so any one posting their work here should be done in General, and not in the DEV section
also XDA rules only allows direct link to the ROM files
and screen shots
changelogs are nice to have, but not necessary if it's outside work
it's a must if it's local in house XDA development
Are they going to support the galaxy nexus when and if it comes to Tmobile? Love their ROMs and were the only ones I placed on my phone I trust them to make any phone zing and rock. Just my 2 cents

On a side note ..
I don't blame them, with all the drama that has been going on lately I can tell why.
Some people just don't know how to act and take things personal when it's the internet and XDA is for mostly Development, Customization and 411 of phones. Not personal vendettas and haterism.
Anyways back to the topic....

I would love to see these guys here I'm gonna donate now
But I really needed to say
That I would love to see one of these for nick from miui.us as that rom (once it became more stable) was a literal transformation of performance on my vibrant even compared to cm7.
I know that miui is a port based system and we need to wait for our cm7 port first but I'm willing to donate and/or in willing and ready to help with the process.

[Q] Don't kill me for this question please!

I don't own this phone, but I'm considering it. I have not read through the forums at all. With that said, here's my question: Is anyone working on cyanogenmod 7 for this phone? If so, links? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it
I don't think CM7 will be available for this phone anytime. hopefully there well be a version of CM9 in a few months based off of ICS. I could be wrong though
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
It'll prob be a couple months, the ICS source code being available sooner than expected helps, and I believe one of the devs on the CM team just got an epic touch to work on, but these things take time. I'd say its gonna be a few months.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
CM-AOSP-MIUI are all being worked on. Right now it seems ICS has all the attention, there is close to a 2k bounty for a stable ICS rom, ICS=AOSP=CM, there you have it

lol there's one in every crowd. The phone is an incredible piece of hardware, no doubt. If I had my choice though I would have gone with the International or ATT version. Not to downplay any of our dedicated and super talented devs but there are simply far more devs working on the other versions. More dev support means more toys and tweaks to play with.
I KILL YOU!!!!! sent from my fav puppet Achmed :-D lol sry i had too
but I did see a rather large post of a dev from CM getting the phone, I wouldn't expect anything till the new year, maybe by Christmas if lucky.

New and Excited

Hey everyone my name is _Thursday and im new to the SGSII Forums.
My previous device was the Samsung Vibrant, I was still running Bionix 1.3.2 and was in heaven. Never had an XDA Account before, never felt it was important to have one if I could just come to the site and download exactly what I needed. My girlfriend got me this phone on my birthday last week and as embarrassing and pathetic as this may seem, Ive touched this phone more than her so far, LOL . Im no noob, although my account my say I am, I can cook ROMs and make themes. Anyways I have a ROM in the making, hope to release for you guys soon. By the way I have spoken with FiveOhFox and he is a great guy and I hope to work with him after my ROM is finished. I hate touchwiz so please expect a touchwiz free build, more of an AOSP clone. Well im sure you all are tired of reading so I will be ending this, wish me luck out here in this big Android universe.
Cheers from _Thursday

And before you ask, there is no ICS, MIUI, CM, AOSP, or AOKP on this phone. Also, use the damn search for your answer! Now gtfo, noob!
Lol, just wanted to say that before you inevitably get flamed at some point for asking a question. Here's a friendly tip: a few users (not all, but a few, and they're very vocal) in this forum need attitide adjustments. Take everything lightly here and don't let those few discourage you from asking questions or helping others.

XDA-developers is a staple site for me. I check for new roms/mods/etc. every day multiple times a day. I finally got around to creating an account now that I feel I might be able to help others from experiences I've had. More so I've been scared to join for fear of being accused of noobdom.
Rooted and rommed Mytouch 4G, G2x, Sensation 4G, Amaze 4G, and waiting on my Galaxy S2 to come back from Samsung for an LCD replacement so that I can get my flashing fix! (I've been dying trying to use a blackberry in it's week's absence...)
Anyway, it's great to see that a fellow new member was treated with such kindness. Hopefully I'll receive the same hospitality.
Also, as a CS major I hope to be joining the actual developers soon. Learning my way around java and the android SDK at the moment. Wish me luck!

Recognized contiubtors are ppl who mod existing roms, make tweaks and mods and write up tutorials, etc. Recognized devs do mostly original work. Alot of the recognized devs have moved up to other devices as their upgrades came available or as they decided it was time to move on. Both groups do excellent work. Welcome to the forums

Yes roms from senior members are safe, some things may be broken because of lack of driver support(ICS and JB builds) or because the rom is incomplete and still a work in progress. All recognized developers and contributors started as junior memebers then senior memebers until they had enough work out to be able to apply and be accepted into the recognized dev/contributor group. Some people don't care about titles and never even bother to apply to be recognized, but are just as talented if not more so than someone who does have the title  and that's all it is really is a title.

Fair enough. I know how you feel. If anything consider upgrading to a gingerbread sense such as tt classic. You keep sense but have gb with the great kernels available to better enhance your phones performance and battery life. There are other gb sense roms too that are nice. Just threw tt as an example as its the most popular (don't want to make people jealous) lol jk.

i gave you your first thanks because the NA kernels were the best!!! I always used 4.3.2 SBC and the phone would last forever. I always thought that even though there were slight enhancements to GB, Froyo and NA kernels were hands down the best for battery life. Way to stick to your guns bro!!!

Thanks mate,i appreciate that.
It looks like you familiar with the anonymous group? You do some hacking or your a follower like me sorry for about off topic and if your looking for a good rom I got some suggestions but PM me because I don't feel like talking about rooms and kernels and people butting in and say their opinion and start a fight. This is my opinion tho I'm not saying this rom or that kernel is the best and better than all. There is no perfect rom or kernel, yeah some might be that good looking, fast
,smooth, and awesome rom but its not about what people think its what your phone likes and which for example you like the froyo rom which is a good stable rom but there is some catching up to do we have android 4.1 already and you are on a froyo rom! Might wanna go for gingerbread or Myn's warm 2.2 but the other rom your talking about is good too.

I do appreciate your helping me,but i do plan on taking a few newer roms for a spin and see what im missing, but like i said before im personally judgmental,so i have to find out for myself, wether a rom is for me or not, everyone has his or her own preference,im not an ICS/AOSP/JB fan,but see thats my preference, thats cool you wont mention it in public, thats very respectful as well.
