Not a newb....not new to flashing...but really need help - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I have flashed hundreds....and I am honestly telling you hundreds of phones and times and this is the first time I have gotten stuck...problem is this time it isn't my phone.
I had a co-worker ask me to help him with his SGS 2....took me a few to realize that his Sprint SGS 2 is actually the epic 4g or 4g touch....but anyway I made a back up through his recovery and then did a factory reset, cache wipe, system format, and davlik wipe before trying to flash AOKP 34 from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565994
Well the flash failed with a status 7...tried to restore the backup but it says there are no files. If you try to boot it just sticks at the Samsung logo....I can get into Odin mode but no computers so far have recognized the device. The other problem is so how is CWM is gone and I am left with what I assume is the stock recovery....you know the whole signature required stuff.
What can I do to get this back to working again?

Your a n00b if you don't know questions go in q&a.

SPH-D710 = Epic 4G Touch
SPH-D700 = Epic 4G
Two different phones. Luckily, I own both.
What you should do:
1. Download Epic 4G Touch drivers
2. Use a non-stock cable
3. Download Odin for the touch
4. Download an Odin tar for the latest E4GT stock (EL29 I think)
5. Run Odin as admin
6 Reboot download mode
7. Plug phone in slowly to a back port on a desktop if possible
8. Put the Epic Touch pit in the pit section (NOT victory 8g)
9. Put EL29 in the PDA slot
10. Start Odin
×Marcusant

Moved to correct forum AND phone.
Dude, don't think you should mess with somebody elses phone if you don't know what you are doing or what phone you have or where to go orrrrrrr to not post questions in development.

Hit Re-partition in ODIN

Bricked my phone I believe, hit re-partition in ODIN by accident. Now I can't go to stock or do anything, gets as far as Complete(Write) operation failed. Can someone help?
Check the dev section. Also, first thing to do is remove battery and sd card. Then go read and figure out what you can do.

Try pulling battery, leave it out a bit, remove SD. Leave both out. Hold down 1 and power button and plug in the cord to PC. It may go back to boot mode this way

That just means that those that get the Epic Touch have nothing new to learn. Its the same method we use on the Epic so there is no learning curve. Oh, and if I get the Epic Touch, its going to be on my other line so my Epic isn't going anywhere right now.

What is with the rash of wrong section posting lately...
if you have enough posts to post in development, you have been here long enough to know this goes in q&a, and to know to look at some stickies or something first.. i know the search sucks, but come on...
I just flashed an EC05 ROM over the GB ROM; I don't use Odin unless I have to.
As long as your EXT4 its no issue.
you can use eh17 modem on ec05- if that is what is being asked. the gb leaks have too many issues (FC) for some people to use on their daily phones.

I've posted in the wrong section once -- not because I was oblivious to which sections to post things, but because I genuinely believed that was the correct location to post to. In such a situation, one should be apologetic rather than defensive. I think it borders on ungratefulness for someone with 120 posts (and therefore probably knows what chris has done for the scene) to call him an @hole.

An answer to a major problem we have

Okay so a lot of people have been flashing ROMS that are not for the Sprint galaxy s2 epic touch 4g( for example the European Galaxy s2 version of ICS) and end up getting a bricked phone that cant be read by the pc or odin. First of all READ B4 Flashing!!. secondly read the forum rules. Search before posting a new thread that someone already asked and lastly I am currently trying to find a way to fix this problem since my friend did the same thing and i have his phone at the moment. i will post an update if i find a solution unless someone beats me to it. Here is an example of what not to flash.
(do not flash u will have a fail EPIC)

Thats all i have to say.

[Q] update el30 to fc09?

Just got my new epic a couple hrs ago. Last one broke.
Rooted and flashed cleangb on to it.
Got a popup a couple minutes ago asking if i wanted to update mr7 from el30 to fc09.
Should i? Will it mess with the rom?
Shame on you should know better than to post questions in general LOL. If you want to stay on clean GB then you will have to modify your build.prop to stop the update. Otherwise flash an FC09 rom.

I'm in the same boat. But, I have cleangb MTD. I gave my phone to my son after I picked up an ARRIVE WP7.5 to try out. He told me he got a prompt to update. I have been looking for info. Is it worth upgrading to? And is there a link that will give me more info and what's needed to update? Thanks
You cannot update on a custom ROM. You can flash an FC09 ROM. There are a bunch in the Development forum. You can also edit the build.prop file to stop the update notification.
