Galaxy S2 Stock Gingerbread Video player - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hi,
Need the defaults Videos.apk from Sammy Gingerbread ROM.
Checked this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319246&highlight=mod
Flashed the ICS version through. No go.
When I try to Install Videos.apk it says application not installed.
Any pointer would be helpful.
Cheers

Let me rephrase the question
The Videos.apk that im looking for is the one that is preloaded in any Sammy ROM. (which is running ICS).
Any pointers on how to get that??
By Video player i mean the player in SGS2 preloaded with HW acceleration and support for almost all video formats.
I need to know how to install that app in any ICS AOSP ROM
Cheers

I've tried players with HW acceleration, MX and VPlayer and others like that. They choke when i try and play HD videos. Whereas the default player will not.

Have same issue. Ics update is a major disappointment. All dressing and no backbone. Some please sort this!

Try this

Isn't sensation ROM based on TouchWiz.???
It isnt AOSP right?
And Yes the reason that I'm using Sensation ROM is coz AOSP ROMS don't have support for HW accelaration in all formats

ICS / cm9 video playing

Quick question for you gentlemen regarding video playback. I have some 720p mkv files on my media server and am having issues playing them back on any ics rom. They play perfect on nearly any player on touchwiz and flawless on vplayer in hardware mode on cm7. Anyone have any ideas on what I could do for cm9 to have the same playing capability? I hate touchwiz but the camera and video work flawless on it and seems like it may be the best bet for me atm.
have u tried flashing some of the other kernels?

That won't matter

As marc said it doesn't matter but yes I have since I like to play with most major roms and kernels released. About to test miui b1 in a bit but I doubt it'll make any difference still I was just hoping a dev had some insight on this.
does cm9 not do hw decoding?
the option is greyed out on mine
on vplayer it allows the option and seems like it tries. mx player not so much. not having much luck with vlc either.
That's weird because they work fine over here on mx player.. did you search mkv video player in the market

well again ill say I've tried mx player (with codec packs and without(, the latest vlc nightly, and I own the pro version of vplayer. I tried with vplayers old codec packs and its built in. hw displays 0 picture with vplayer and stutters heavily on vplayer. the isn't that it can't play the file, the issue is it doesn't play it as it does on cm7 and tw. these are 720p video files with fast action. and not anime stuff.
vplayer works great on cm7 but doesn't play in hw mode on cm9. the stock video player on tw works best, but vplayer also works on tw pretty well too. mx is lame sauce.
i get a no picture on vplayer also
the video im using doesnt have any weird encoding options either; its just a video i downloaded off of youtube, so pretty standard
is this just a bug with cm9? maybe it needs to be reported. i dont see anyone mention it in the tracker

[Q] mp4 support differences?

I have several different mp4 files on my GS3. When I run the stock OS I can play all of them without problems. When I use the Nightly CM10 image, however, several of the files won't play, giving me a generic "this format is unsupported" error. One plays but with no sound. Should I expect different mp4 support between the two versions, or would this be a problem with CM10?
That's because of the additional codecs Samsung has baked into TouchWiz. You can try using a third party player like MX player.

Thanks, that's what I needed. VPlayer and VLC play them fine as well, I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to submit a bug to Cyanogenmod.

Never had an issue. With MX Player try to change the decoder from HW to SW or the other way around. I don't think it's Kernel related. Since it used to work fine on stock as well. Check the HTC Task Manager and see if you have enough memory left.

Samsung video player uses twframework to work you cant get it work on cm10.1 and cm10.1 is still not stable so hd video cant be played on cm10 it was same for me it was laggy too laggy you better use samsung jb custom rom
I would also like to do the same thing. I like the samsung video app because it also has the option to turn video off on a timer (sleep timer). Great for watching a movie in bed.
I tried deodexing using this great tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213235
but it still wont install on CM 10.1
I'm doing this on a Tab 2 10.1
Shame!

Liquid smooth and H/W mkv decoding.

So what happened from any of the custom stock ROMs including the rooted stock ROM to this ROM?
I'm asking because when I first got this phone I didn't root or ROM it and it had hardware decoding for my full length mkv movies. And they played just fine in the native video player. No shipping or slide show and no out of sync audio. When I first rooted and keep a rooted stock ROM on it. Everything was still fine. I tired fre3 ROM and it was fine. Jellybomb was also fine. But they didn't have working tethering always crashed. So I moved to this ROM. And now I no longer have working hardware decoding for mkv.
Why is that? What is the difference between this custom ROM than a rooted stock ROM? Is there a way to add it back in so that it can be played natively?
Thanks in advance

Liquid smooth is AOSP and all the other roms you mentioned are Touchwiz (based off of stock).
Yes I understand that. However that really has no bearing on what I'm asking. I guess what I'm asking, if I can make it clearer. Is why was mkv removed from the native video player. The native play that comes with android not TW not SENSE but android. It has direct access to h/w decoding for all formats it supports.
http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html
This way you don't need a third party player to play these formats. This way it can be played natively with the android player that comes with every version of android regardless of the OEM and their silly UI.
That's all I was asking. If a developer of Liquidsmooth could answer or let me know they're looking into it. That would be great.

If you want an answer from a developer, then you should ask in the developer thread for LiquidSmooth.
