Camera Fault - Yellow tint in corners during the shot and in the pics ? - HTC One X

Hey all,
I'm new to the forum. Did a search for this but did not get any hits.
I had an issue with one corner of my screen perpetually displaying a yellow tint while using the main camera that also translated onto the actual pictures.
Didnt see this on the front camera. So I assumed this is a one of hardware issue.
The dealer had the phone replaced 2 days after I bought it with a new piece (Part of their 7 Days - No questions asked guarantee). So far the issue hasn't surfaced.
I've tweeted HTC, but haven't got a response yet. Here is a pic with the tint in the top right corner - pic.twitter.com/epsvQRlP
Has anyone experienced the same issue. I know I've already got a replacement but in case this crops up again. I just wanted to make sure that this is a hardware fault.
Awaiting your thoughts / experiences.
Cheers.

well the yellow tints appeared on mine after 3 days of use. I replaced it with a new one. Thats all i can say, Some other people faced the same issue but told me that they waited for another week and the tints seemed to dissapear after some days.

Can you post a photo indicating the issue?

Compare the top right corner near the couch and curtains to the bottom left. The room was evenly lit.

I had yellow tint when I used the flash, but this only happened withthe flash returned and got a replacement still yellow not as bad but had gps probs so replaced that on 3rd started off yellow with flash but now when I wait for the metering to settle down seems to be ok so seems third time lucky for me

Lets hope the second times a charm for me. And if there is a recurrence, it happens before the 7 days are up....
I'm interested to know what the experience was like from someone who had the issue go away after a couple of days. It kinda sounds like a break-in period for the camera sensor (similar to buysing a new car).... Has it completely vanished after repeated use ?

Can you take a picture of pure white background e.g. like wall, sky?

need a couple of pictures to see the problem! one picture doesnt help

My newest one x has this problem, any improvement with the latest ota?

I only see a yellow tint with shots taken indoors. Outside they are just fine.

My One X got the yellow problem when using the led flash. Comparing to my old desire, the flash in one X is more yellowish. It may be able to be rectified through software updates, setting the correct white balance for the LED flash. Hope HTC will solve that through the next update

try camera options, image adjustments, saturation set on -1

got the yellow **** when shooting with flash me too... without flash the pic looks ok, but when flash is on, skin become yellow, very ugly

I think your problem is linked to the white balance which is ****ed up.
I take some screenshots of the camera app phone with different white balance option like bellow:
The photos is taken without flash in front of my wall which is normally white.
Only the auto option is OK for me, the other options shows my wall yellowish or blueish.
I don't know if it is caused by the Eternity's kernel in my phone, have you have the same issues ?
Edit: No I didn't painted my wall in yellow or blue

same problem for me ... when I use flash it shows yellow photo ...I asked in service station but they say this phone is not to take pics in dark.. not ready to change phone.

Ok, I took some pictures outside and I can conclude the white balance option should be used at outdoor condition.
There are a few differences on the white which can be colder or warmer between the photos but not as strong as the screenshots above.

this is bull****... my sensation is making normal photos with the flash, no yellow ****, its something wrong with the one x...
just installed CM9 to check if it is something about the libs, but the issue is the same with CM9... so its not rom related.

[Q] Is this normal on camera?

I noticed this especily when theres no much light. This is only part of taken picture. With room light, flash...
Also on display, when I wanna take pics those stripes show, dancing going up and down if you know what i mean.
Is this normal for HTC desire camera? I know that quality is not like on real camera offcourse.

I very rarely use the flash, even at night as it's only of any real use on fairly close-up facial images in poor light, and even then it's far from great. I find that a bit of messing around with the settings I can get great pictures in low light conditions.
The best thing that you can do is set the cameras 10 second countdown and sit the phone somewhere in a suitable position to capture the photo. If I'm unable to do this then I'll hold the camera but rest it on a balcony or wall. It's near impossible to get a good shot in low light without doing the above.
Thanks for reply.
I just wanna know if those pinkish lines that showing on display when taking pics are normal? When wanna take pic (doesnt have nothing with flash) on display i see moving lines, espacialy on dark places?
Know that quality of camera isn't great..
Mine doesn't seem to suffer that from what I've seen.
Try cleaning the lenscover. It's not normal really. Could be the CRT's updatefrequency but I doubt it.
I cleaned lenscover, even take pictures without cover. And problem stays.
On bright day , you can't see those lines, maybe it's to much light for them appear.
But when its dark, they shows.
I noticed that those pinkish lines dance more on bottom of the screen , where is mic for talking, and buttons.
Its probably something to do with the kernel. I had something like this when I used Insertcoin Sense 2.1 & 3.0 hybrid.

I didn't do anything to the phone, i bought it this way, so i don't know if anything was installed.
Is it fixable? And how?
If need any more information, im here
Okay, looks like you are using the stock rom and kernel that came with the phone so I don't really know why you would get this kind of problem. To tell you honestly the first thing I did when I got my phone was root it and flash a custom rom so I never really knew how the stock camera performs under low light conditions.
I do however experience this when I used custom Sense roms before.
I bought this phone of seller who sad that he didn't do anything to the phone. And then i found out this
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-off

MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27

It's not rooted (don't see superuser icon?, i think thats how you know it's rooted )
Maybe this have something with camera??
It does say S-OFF so maybe you should reflash the stock RUU just to be sure. You never know what the last user did with it.
But you have to flash downgrader before you flash RUU, because you use one of alpharev's r2 hboots (probably CM7r2) and these ones have an overwrite protection against RUU and OTA.
I had this problem when I flashed a ROM with Sense
As soon as I flashed the CM7, I had no more problems with the camera.
I had this problem when my Desire was stock. I broke the screen and had it replaced. The tech damaged the flex cable when he was replacing the screen which resulted in the funny lines and other camera issues and screen hangs. Luckily another tech seen it when I returned and it was replaced again.
I'd say your trouble is hardware related.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks for answers.
So you think is fixable that way?
But unfortunatly I can't do downgrade, and flash RUU, because my computer restarts sometime (something to do with motherboard), so I'll have to wait to get other computer for about month and then try do downgrade.
I'm afraid that will restart in middle of process, and brick phone or something. If phone can be broke that way???? If not I'll do downgrade right away..

Yes but only when using the camera. Lines, image off centre weird colours and sometimes just freezing when running any camera app.
It could be software related bit I thought I'd share what my problem was in case it was useful.

Hey, have you checked the ISO on the camera settings? Very high ISO can cause that problem...try Auto or 100.
Yes i tried to change ISO settings. Problem stays.
I also found out when sometime i take close up photo with flash, i don't see those lines, photo is clean...

Pink spot at the center of every captured picture and video !

I have just noticed that there is pink spot on the camera
the attached file shows a picture of a white wall .is there anybody else who has the same problem?do you think it's a software or hardware problem ?

I seem to remember there being an issue with pink spots in the center of photos in some phones. I'd take it back to the store & exchange it if you're within your 2 weeks, otherwise call T-Mo & see about getting a warranty replacement.

it's too late i have had this phone for a month now,and just noticed this problem ,
been distracted with the faulty screen (vertical lines and blobs) for that issue i had to send the phone to samsung repair,
and now i have to deal with this issue,I don't even like to use this phone anymore !
so disappointed with samsung
so Does everybody think that it's a hardware problem ?
I just found out that the 1st device i got which i had to exchange because of the screen blobs had the same camera issue(pink patch at the center of the picture)while i was reviewing the pictures taken by that phone !

That's the white wall with Auto everything, no flash under fluorescent lights.
the reddish picture is no flash with fluorescent setting for white balance.
The one with bright spot is auto everything with flash on a white wall under fluorescent lights. I think the problem is with the software tries to adjust the white balance.

Try the miui cam.apk on your phone and see if it makes a different.
i just performed a test and think others should try this. I noticed you guys took a pic of a white background or wall so i did same thing regular lighting no flash, and aimed at the wall i also seen the pinkish spot but as i panned my phone around it would fade away then come back as i panned. so then i took a still shot with flash off and had the same result as op. then i did the same thing with flash on and no pink spot at all. so i definitely think its a lighting condition that makes our phones show this weird shade or color. more light = no pink spot. but its weird cuz it seems to only happen on lighter backgrounds like a white wall and such. because that is the only time i ever noticed this anomoly. and ive took a **** load of pics of my 1yr old boy, and girls

I think that affect the pictures quality ,
not sure what to do

I'm much more concerned about the blobs and lines.

The key difference is this camera issue can most likely be fixed in software, but the blobs/lines is probably a hardware issue.

[Q] Should i take it for warranty? or is it normal?

hey there guys. am having multiple issues in a 1 week old Note 2 which i noticed very recently.
first issue being , strange fade outs near home button, (tried cleaning screen with everything from water to specs lens cleaner,it's a permanent thing..... and looks like it is under the glass )

Second issue is non-aligned fade outs on front cam and sensor
third issue is , there are few pixels on left side of screen that do not blend in with other black pixels around them(except for videos where color is similar to pull down menu on home screen).it doesn't move either.it's in a permanent location. it can't be seen under proper light and only appear on more or less lowest screen light setting with ambient light off.this issue however doesn't occur with any other color of video, they blend in perfectly.it's similar to note 1's black crush issue, but on a specific spot
sorry but this is the best pic my cam could get. you have to look very carefully
Last issue is, S pen doesn't work on lower right side of the screen. like on the very end in the corner. it works fine in other 3 corners.
I know i sound extremely paranoid.... but i love this device so much ! would love perfection. should i take it to service center? will be pretty darn hard to explain the issues though. and can i expect a replacement ? on the side note, i got it from India and no carrier.
Thank you for reading

and no ... no screen guard is on.it's whitish cuz of moisture and oily hands, can't help it in India's climate and tired of wiping the screen every hour. but those fade outs are permanent thing.
i do plan on getting screen guards soon after taking it for warranty though.

Is there a hardware issue with the z1c camera and LED flash?

Good morning,
in a german forum android-hilfe.de there is a thread with pictures taken by a lime z1c with led light - all of the pictures have a yellow shine.
For me this looks like an hardware issues on ALL the z1c devices of the first charges but maybe in the black one the problem is not easy to see.
What do you guys think about that?
Here is the link to the thread with the pictures in first post:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/sony-xp...ei-der-verarbeitung-kamera-bilder-inside.html
Could the be a major issue of this brand new device?
GSMArena complained about some issues with their review model. My white one doesn't have any of these issues, seems fine to me
What the !?

It is a hardware issue. The problem is the back of the device. It reflects the flash light which then hits the camera lens.
I can create pictures under the same conditions with my Xperia T - but I don't get that fog-effect.

Huh.. Seems that I was wrong. Took some automatic "sky at night" pictures - the pictures were blueish. Then I changed into Manual mode and got nice black pics. Seems the reflection is not really strong, but superior mode creates a superior reflection ._.

I don't expect full quality pictures at night, but you can definitely see that this is a hardware related problem (reflective back) - this is not what I expected from a 500€ phone. (I still like it, but I hate the fact that the camera fails so badly)

This is not the point. Even a weak LED flash must not (!!) mess up the pictures taken.
at least, Sony seems to be aware of the problem now. I'm curious how this will work out. Still thinking of a software related problem. (e.g. better controlling of the LED might help, like changing the time between shutter and light etc.)

Can confirm this issue on mine, though I think its impact is exaggerated. The only normal situation (i.e. not covering the flash with your finger) where you see the issue is on long range dark shots, on which you shouldn't really be using the flash anyway
Edit: took a few example shots.. (ignore the overall quality, didnt bother focusing properly)

Yellowish tint on screen?

Might be being paranoid due to 2 XL screen issues but has anyone notice a yellowish tint to the screen? It almost seems like off axis is more pure white and looking directly on is a warmer white if that makes sense. Might try to take pics but not sure I can capture it.
I haven't noticed any hardware problems with the display yet, although I do have black clipping in movies.
Instead of starting a new thread I decided to post my issue here because it's screen related. I don't have any yellow hue with my screen. I unfortunately have a pinkish hue on the right side of my phone. I saw it immediately after powering up for the first time. Kinda reminds me of the S8+ fiasco. It's just in the right side and starts about the middle of the screen and heads up to the top. I called Google and they took my issue very seriously. They wanted pictures and it's a very hard thing to capture with a video or pic but they said they could see it in one of the pics I sent. They have me play some white screen YouTube video and wanted a picture while that was playing. Anyways, they took my info about the issue to some higher ups and called me back about an hour and a half later. The person I dealt with was nice but a bit pushy with getting pic results. He was concerned about some widespread issue because the phone was just released. So he said that these panels have some color shifting (ok? Already went over that) but offered to send out a new replacement. That is me basically buying another and not getting charged unless my original phone isn't returned on time. I'm very disappointed with the screen having this issue. I went through the whole blue screen last year. I had to get two replacements until I received a "good one." Anyone else having screen issues with color?
Sorry to hear about your yellowish screen issue. If you aren't happy with it I'd return it. There are a few friends of mine that have great screens
Here is what I'm noticing. Maybe that's just the way it is and it's something I've never noticed before. The funny thing is I have a Xs Max and the Pixel looks better. Interestingly enough the second picture (pure white) looks similar to the Xs max if true tone is turned off.

My display is great. Beautiful. I'm grateful too because I went through 7 2 XL's before I found one with a display I could deal with.
Adaptive brightness, if on, will turn the screen yellowish in low light conditions.
Otherwise, I didn't notice anything since I received the phone today. I've been using it all day.
Nope, mine has been fantastic. Looks great.
Going to have to go check other devices in store. Can't tell if what I'm seeing is normal without another unit to compare.
No matter what phone you get an OLED screen is a lottery to how even the whites are or the degree of hues

+1 I've seen some "comparisons" saying the 3 was warmer than the 3XL they saw. I'm opposite here. Received a 3 before launch day. Nice, cool screen (which is my preference). Phone felt way too small for me so I picked up a 3XL at Best Buy yesterday. Quite a bit warmer than the 3. Returning that one today haha.

Haha If it's noticeable straight away and takes away the enjoyment of the screen then a swap is the best way. I've had devices from Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus, Google etc and I've had bad tints or uneven whites on them all..so part of the oled game

Might be being paranoid due to 2 XL screen issues but has anyone notice a yellowish tint to the screen? It almost seems like off axis is more pure white and looking directly on is a warmer white if that makes sense. Might try to take pics but not sure I can capture it.
