Hey everyone! I asked Mugen if they're going to make any extended batteries for the SGS2! Guess what?:

I've been a big supporter of Mugen, they've made some WONDERFUL batteries for my older devices (blackberries mostly), and I certainly hope to get an OEM sized (20% more powerful) mugen battery in my device.
Will you guys?

Had one of their batteries on my previous phone.
3400mAh... though it was quite bulky. What id really like if they would develop a battery which is wider above the battery compartment.

Which I might get as well. It all depends. I'm waiting this week to get mine SGS2, most people say it's OK. While others moan about its horrible battery life. So I'm not sure. I'll test it out and see. Regardless, I will get the mugen one that fits OEM. And if it's too little as well, maybe the case. All I know, is that I'm already in love with the SGS2

Well, they can't do that, maybe 1850, 1900 mAh tops.
What I was thinking off was a battery which is a cover at the same time. A bit like the batteries on the nokia 6210 and 6310i of long ago. You could get those from Nokia in the 'small', normal, and 'large' variants.
The SGS2 and battery construction allows for this. I.E. a battery that 'snaps' on and is the same height as the thicker part of the telephone on the bottom. Such a battery if constructed properly should easily be able to hold +/- 4000mAh while adding little to the overal phone thickness.
anything over 30% more power as the same original size i think its worth change anything under that change my vote to from YES to NOOOOOOO WAY.

Easily 4,000? I don't think so. You're talking about the actual battery + a few more mm for the top. Now, the rest of the body will be the same thickness of the same cover, right? Then that'll make it impossible to construct any usable MAH into that! So we'll get around 2,000 mah. Which by my standards is just frikken fantastic! I'd buy that in a second

If there was a way to make a battery of the same size larger capacity why wouldn't Samsung have done it? Battery capacity is a _huge_ selling point for mobiles, Samsung has truckloads of money and huge departements doing R&D. The same can also be said for all the other big manufacturers.
But lo and behold, time and time again some rather small battery making companies release 3rd party batteries that offers upto 30% increase in capacity at the same size as the OEM batteries, it's just amazing!
One thing is oversized batteries giving you some more juice for your phone (not exactly what it says on the box there either...), but never take a 3rd party's word for it if they say they can cram more capacity into a same-size battery than the original. More often than not they have lower capacity than the OEM batteries despite being rated much higher.

My experience with the 3200mAh extended battery for SGS was excellent!
I wish they released a smaller one of about 2500mAh of capacity for SGS II, that would be astonishing!

You obviously never bought or used a geninue Mugen brand battery before then. They're probably the only company that doesn't make ridiculous claims about battery life.
And just because the manufacturer doesn't squeeze more power into their batteries doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done. They do have cost considerations and a profit margin to think about after all.
EDIT: I expect Mugen's OEM size battery to probably be around 1750-1800mah, or about 10% more capacity than the Samsung one.

Just to clarify, it's not always OEM size. It could be a tiny bit larger, but still fits in the OEM slot. That has been the case with all my blackberry batteries. Why my trusty OEM batteries fit comfortably, the mugens still fit well, but are a little bit tighter. So that DOES justify an increase in mAh.
I have also tried non-mugen / seidio and OEM batteries, and those are ALWAYS crap! Capacity usually drops after 2 weeks or even less sometimes. They're horrible. But mugen has always made great batteries (at least in my case) and I would highly recommend them to anyone Seidio ... meh... Not so much! Because they're REALLY over priced haha.

I had a bad experience with a mugen battery. Bought it, charged it, used it for one time and it crapped out on the second charge. Dead.
Called and emailed for support and they wanted me to send it back, plus tracking, I wasn't going to pay more.
Basically I threw it out. My loss. But I would never by a battery from them again. It looks like cheap stuff of ebay anyways.
Maybe you'll have better luck though.

Interesting link. Yes, my last Mugen experience was anecdotal (Xperia X1), but if my extended battery had really only lasted ~70% of claimed capacity I would've noticed (plus there would be more people complaining in the forums).
Guess they need to tighten their QC then.

was looking forward to a plausible 1800mAh standard size battery from mugen... 1700mAh is barely any jump and in all seriousness would have the same or even lesser battery life than the original one.

Wow, 1700 from 1650? That's nothing. That's literally minutes (10 maybe?) of the screen being on! I would totally skip on that one.
Samsung also makes its own extended battery case, which might also interest me... We'll see

Ya i'll bet its a typo, more like 1450mah rather than 2450mah. No cheap aftermarket battery can even match the stock battery in capacity let alone offer 50% more capcity.
im not expecting a full 2400mah out of it, more like a 2100mah....
thing people need to realize, is the stock battery is made in the same places (sometimes) as these after market batteries. The quality might be slightly off, but not substancially..... they are all made in asian countries for less than $0.20 a piece in mass production....

You'll be lucky if it even matches the stock battery, you just can't magically cram more capacity into a battery. The samsung 2000mah battery is thicker and comes with a new cover, why isn't samsung using this battery if it has more capacity and is smaller than its own 2000mah battery? If its too good to be true(on ebay) it probably is.

Seen one review where it was a smaller battery in a plastic frame. Battery capacity was much lower than the stock battery. If it sounds too good to be true and it is cheap, then it probably is.

...are you serious? it's a proven fact that non-OEM/aftermarket batteries in general are usually worse than stock batteries. check out sites like http://batteryboss.org/ you can see testing of aftermarket brands like seidio and mugen...the actual capacity is between 55% to 85% of the advertised capacity, while OEM batteries are ~95%+.
as for what you said about samsung being a retarded company and not releasing the best hardware/software possible, you'd rather trust a random ebay seller with an UNBRANDED battery coming straight from china for $14 aus dollars, which is somehow still 47% higher in capacity, over a multinational corporation with trusted suppliers who are industry leaders in their own right? you really think samsung would willingly reduce their battery capacity in light of the huge implications it could have on the sales of their flagship phone?

Different material can make a big difference.
I know it's probably bull****, but i bought one of those battery and i was impressed by the time it last. I tought i would end with a smaller time than stock battery, but it lasted longer. I did not made super precise test, I don't have time for that. I must always be with latest rom / kernel so flashing a new rom or kernel a day don't let me much time to bench battery xD. My point is, that i think it last longer than original samsung battery and this, even if people are doing test that proof i'm false.

Typo is an abbreviation of 'Typographic Error' and the phrase originates from when newspapers were printed using printing plates as against computers that are used today.
An example of a typo would be writing h3llo rather then hello or 1243 rather then 1234, it's usually a mistyped character instead of a spelling mistake.

True, but I also did mention that another site tested the capacity specifically for the ebay '2430mah' batteries, and came out with a total capacity of 1000-1250mah. Even if we take it as 1250mah, that's still a 25% decrease from the stock capacity of 1680mah, which is abysmal. You could argue that it's fine as a spare battery, but at that price and capacity you might as well just buy another stock OEM battery, and save yourself the frustration. However, I would definitely argue against using it as your primary battery, for obvious reasons.
Any GOOD suggestions to a STOCK size battery with BIG capacity, that WORKS? Or battery similar or better than Samsung's 2000mah battery?
I use mostly clear TPU cases. Thinking of cutting hole in battery cover for a bigger battery too.
I wish battery covers like those in the 2000mah extended battery kit could be bought in colors, cheap. And then get some nice battery.

There is the Anker battery with 1900 mah, but thats the biggest battery I know, that doesn't increases the physical size of the phone.

No such thing, its either the stock samsung battery or the larger 2000mah samsung battery, everything else is going to have lower capacity no matter what the label says. Check out http://batteryboss.org/ and find an aftermarket battery that has similar capacity as an oem one... there simply isnt one.

Good day all out of thses two 1900 mah & 2300 mah which is better vaule for money and is the Anker 2300 mah battery really that slim it still fits with the orginal SG2 battery cover? In any case I was thinking of getting the 2300 mah battery as it got good reviews.

Thanks for your input D3 like I said there not much (or Im looking wrong places on net) on reviews on the 2330maH battery, at under 10 euro/pound I may just order the 1900maH one still no rush.

Then im sure samsung which is one of the largest electronics manufacturer in the world would of figured this out by now, not some unknown anker company. Don't be fooled by a label on a battery, even the popular seido/mugen batteries fall short of their ratings.

anker is not an unknown battery company... they are known for their high quality batteries...
and its proven multiple times that the 1900mah battery is 1900 and even 2000 for some ppl....
i do think the other one is fake though (the 2300 one)

As per the photo yes but if you have not done business with said dealer drop them a line to find out if these are genuine anker batts.
This way you'll have digital proof if they turn out to be fakes and you can take it up with ebay there after...

I bought a 3500mAh obscurely branded Chinese battery in mid-December. Tried it out for almost two weeks, a bunch of charge/discharge cycles & estimated its real capacity was around 1900mAh. It also used to heat up a lot on recharge (mid-high 40's Celsius, which isn't normal when the phone isn't being used whilst charging).
I took it back, got a refund & bought an original Samsung 2000mAh battery. Hasn't missed a beat, is obviously close to its advertised capacity given I get around 20% more use out of a charge than I do with a 1600mAh battery.
Obviously your mileage may vary if you buy one of these (you might have a better experience than I did), just thought I'd let you know about my experience.

Well i heard that their batteries exploded in their phones......so be careful.....better pay for a better one instead of having a chance to ruin your expensive phone.

I have one of those I got from DealExtreme and it is great. It lasts 2x longer than the original Samsung battery.
I take care not to swap them often, because I am afraid that this action might damage the original cover, eventually breaking it.

I am still using the 1650 mAh battery (stock) for my S2.
I am really facing some battery issues. Its charging almost all day !
Yes I am using 3G all day and WiFi HotSpot too. But use wifi at home. Thats when I get good battery life. Any better way to conserve some battery ?

It's really frustrating that my current stock battery is only enough for 2 hd video view (4-5 hours).
Also, the higher the mAh value the more battery lifetime is, right?
I would really want to buy 3500 mAh, but it costs so little.
And the official Samsung variant that offers the longest lifetime of a battery for SGS2 is this one, maybe Mugen 3500 mAh is the best choice out there?

Really now, if it was possible to manufacture a battery having more than double the capacity of the stock battery while taking up the same volume, don't you think the megacorporate Samsung would buy that technology immediately in order to use it themselves ? "Too cheap to be true" is valid even here; most knock-off batteries either are fake ("9999 mAH SUPER EXTRA" sticker over the original rating), or will degrade quickly in time leaving you with a dud.
Since there are already fake electronic components...
... why not fake and cheap batteries too, certainly seems to be a high demand for them.
a. it is not the same volume! in is twice as much as the original.
b. the i9100 has a circuit that allows a slow stable charge rate so i dont think it will damage the battery.
As well as being made of inferior materials, not being subjected to the same QC, not having the fuel gauge chip present in original Samsung batteries, you pretty much get what you pay for.
My advice would be to avoid non-original batteries altogether, and given a 2000mAh original battery will cost around the same as one of these 3000mAh+ batteries with all their problems & poor life, it's a no brainer.
Stick with Samsung batteries.

well i think that you misunderstood the meaning fuel gauge.
there is no chip in the battery that is in charge of the fuel gauge.
furthermore there is no use of recalibrating the battery in out i9100 model.
all you gave me is a link you Google...
please... show me that chip! i would like to learn something new about lithium batteries..

Saw this aftermarket 6000mah battery for the 20X on aliexpress, good reviews all round (one review says it's 7500mah). Has anyone tried this? If so how was the installation process?
5000mah already lasts me 2-4 days but 6000mah would be really handy during heavy use days.

Here you go. The 1st link is a video teardown and the 2nd is a guide. You will need to apply some heat to open the cover. But a blow dryer may suffice. Buy T7000 glue to glue the cover back on. Its a very simple removal, not hard at all.

No these chinese companies trying lie to sell ... not just with these batteries but any other.. just peel of their label and u will see original 5000 huawei battery
I know some of them do lie but you can't go around saying ALL chinese companies and sellers are frauds. If you're going around making unsubstantiated claims with not even a shred of evidence no one will ever take you seriously again, at least not me.

Is the battery bigger or thicker than orig ? u cannot make bigger mAh and keeping same size man think.com ...
download an app which detects battery capacity and let me know who was right ...
Or let me know how longer will phone last from charge than with original

to be fair its not all just about size, there is a thing such as energy density, which is actually the most important factor in a battery's design
in general, i would advise caution when buying non-original batteries. at the same time, higher capacity in the same form factor is totally inside the realm of possibility.

As I know about batteries. Li-ion batteries has best density
Speaking of cell density batteries there would have to be new design and new technology.
For more battery cells you obviously need larger battery ! THAT'S WHY Mate 20 X / Honor Note 10 battery is the largest from all.
Battery Size
Although higher-capacity batteries generally last longer than lower-capacity ones, they are not always suitable for use in every device. To achieve a higher capacity, battery makers often have to fit more cells into each battery. Cells are the parts of a battery in which the chemical reaction needed to generate electricity happens. Increasing a battery's cell count can in turn increase both the size and weight of the battery, making it unsuitable for use in slimline devices such as smaller cell phones and netbooks. The temperature and speed of electrical current discharge affects the overall capacity of the battery. Poorly made batteries often heat up too quickly resulting in performance issues or degraded capacity.
To calculate a battery's life, divide the capacity of the battery by the current required by the object it powers. For example, imagine that you have two batteries for your cell phone, one with a capacity of 1000 mAh and one with a capacity of 2000 mAh, and that your phone requires a current of 200 mA to function. The first battery would power the phone for five hours, as 1000 divided by 200 equals five. But the second battery would power the phone for ten hours, as it has double the capacity of the first. While a larger number indicates battery power, larger mAh batteries may not be better if it is a poor quality battery. It simply means it can store more power.
Cell phone battery life is heavily dependent on the way in which you use the phone. The more features you run at the same time on your phone, the more current your phone requires and the quicker the battery's capacity drains. This is why using WiFi or running complex games on your phone drains the battery quickly. As such, a battery with a high capacity that is used to power a smartphone might last for less time than a low-capacity battery that powers a basic device.
