[Kernel] T989 ICS 4.0.3 Insecure Kernel (Rooted) Flashable Zip - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Simply what it says, this is the insecure kernel I made from the dump, works well on RomChicago. I have not yet tested it on any other ICS roms.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/romchicago/files/InsecureKernel/tmoleakinsecure.zip/download
Happy tweaking!

Is this kernel different from the kernel leaked earlier today?

Yeah its insecure, meaning it gives you root access to the shell.

Nice you're quick! Thank bro!

Thanks brother.
FROM A GALAXY BETTER THAN YOURS.

Just trying to learn
shell - simply is a "command line" to type commands on your Android phone
I found this when trying to fully understand what you mean by this insecure kernel gives you root access to the shell... would you please elaborate I want to know more about this. I've recently learned the procedures for adb pushing and pulling .. after reading more on it I still don't know.. LOL Thanks!!!

A shell is present in all operating systems from windows to Android and allows us to run useful commands. a quick google of Android terminal commands should give you an idea of what it can do.

Why no boot animation or init.d support? Most roms require these features enabled.

thanks but
I think you answered me before I edited LOL I still want to know why the kernel gives you access to shell and why would I not have it if were not an insecure kernel or would I under other circumstances.
and well okay maybe I should just read more but I wanted a simple straight forward answer from the OP who was answering questions earlier. I figured he would know more than all the old google pages I find and we are talking about ICS here which is a bit different than GB I read.

Basically its a guard at the gate, when you tell him to go home by flipping the script, you can walk into the castle (the shell) and play with the lights. Thats how i understand it, I'm just a law student so my learning process has been all trial and error.

wo0t wo0t im about to flash this ***** and see how she runs on Infamous_UVLE1 ROM

I'd be curious to know what kernel as well. You try eri n apns for service? Wifi might be the same fix we've used for 2.3.5+ issues in the past as well since our kernel is technically built for 2.3.4.

hey barnacles,
if you grab the 'official' rom from miui.com or even the int'l sgs2 miui port from xda, all you need to do is swap the zimage with one of the epic 4g touch's (like LoStKernel) and it will boot up and function (maybe what the OP of this thread did, didn't download to see). Data and wifi were no go. If I remember, the cameras were working though unlike what this OP says. I've been working on this here and there but I definitely dont have as much free time as I'd like as I'm getting ready to move to the other side of the earth.
I'll be more than happy to answer questions and/or help development going as soon as I can put some time aside to work on this.

I'm not a fan of the MIUI ROM(its to iPhone-ish IMHO) but I still wanted to say thank you for this post. Although I know it wasn't its purpose, it did point me to the SkyRocket's Development, and Themes & Apps Section, and man do they have some goodies over there, which I never would've found had it not been for this post, so thanks again!
so you essentially made small tweaks and got aosp based rom from sgs2 int to boot? if so, nice. I wonder if this works with CM7 as well.
Omggggg we need to get this rolling. I thought someone was already working on a port for MIUI? What is this for? Excited nonetheless lol.

It is not my place to decide which radios a user can use. My rom will never include a radio (I will include flash able RILs as possible) Radios can differ because of location. But I'm looking into making the best experience possible. In fact, the echo issue is my primary issue for tomorrow. And I personally recommend the Telus radio. But it differs..

This is strictly my opinion, but I'd wait until someone releases a ROM with these minor things worked out. We've got a lot of great devs working on this phone and judging by what we've seen with the skyrocket leaks, it won't be long at all before we see a lot of stuff worth flashing. This one is marked as a base, so I'd wait for some things to be ironed out.

V6 supercharger script?

I have been reading a lot about this but no one has helped or given a definitive answer on how to get it, what it does, and how to install it...

Personally I think it helps a little. I know that when you bullet proof apps like the launcher it never redraws which is nice.
You need script manger from the market. Go to Google and type in v6 supercharger script xda. First link should be the right one. Go in there and read his forum. Its by zepplinrox (sp?) And its very informative. Once you get the script just open up script manger a and find the script you download and click it. Then you want to click the skull and crossbones and it'll turn green. The run and just follow the script when it prompts you.

Just take your time. The hardest part is just downloading everything you need. Once you actually run the script its the easiest thing because the script babies you and shows you and hints as to exactly what to do. I thought it was worth it at the time.

[FIX] Dual Core always appears to be on OR off, governors default to performance.

Maybe some of you on custom ROMs have noticed that your second core functions strange, which would also mean terrible battery life and abnormally hot phones.
Well, this is due to something causing the cores to switch governors to "performance" upon boot. The only way to fix it is from a script or other app that controls CPU. That's not all. The second core seems to not function according to specs. It will either always stay on, or always stay off. mpdecision doesn't appear to work properly.
Well, I've narrowed this down to "samsungani" and "samsungpowersound" which are located in /system/bin/. Removing these at an attempt to get custom boot animations working and to get rid of boot sounds are what's causing the funky core behaviors.
The fix is to restore the two files and chmod them 755 as well as chgrp to 2000 to get them back to the way they're supposed to be.
I'm not sure if any of this effects custom kernels but it sure does on the Stock kernel.
The file I uploaded will restore the samsungani and samsungpowersoundplay files to /system/bin/ as well as copy over silent PowerOn and PowerOff sounds.
Wow that's awesome that you figured this out. Great job!!

Hope your not asking for an Eta if you read the five post he said give him some time he is doing this for free. This is the number one rule on xda when you see the zip in the op then you know its done. Not trying to be mean but you will get flamed for asking a question like that just trying to help you out

Just flashed it rom definitively seems alot more responsive I was seeing the lag and just had some plain weird stuff going on glad we have a dev lime you to find stuff like this and squash it. Do we need to flash this after we flash a rom obviously your rom will have the fix so I'm not worried about it but for others who arent using your rom.
Edit: is there any way I can test to insure both cores are doing what they are supposed to be doing like an app per say

Well, it really only will matter if your current ROM includes a different boot animation and/or removes those files. In any other case, it will do nothing.

OK thanks again love the rom I know you get asked this a lot but if you ever need a tester let me know I use to test for mijuah but my son stole my s2 so I'm bored now lol.
Zip applied, and I had to duplicate the process to confirm what I thought I saw:
Been running blazer 1.6 for a few days now and I honestly don't know what (if any) boot animations are built into that rom, but in the spirit of testing (and flash addiction) I used this zip.
This is what I noticed (and duplicated to confirm)--
Chainfire's live dmesg/logcat (I used paid versions) were replaced by this zip file.
When I "reinstalled" the first attempt found no boot animation files. I attempted install again and this time it did indeed "repair" the logcat/dmesg boot screen.
This is my first dual core so I have no experience in these apps working or not on such phones.
If this is wide spread then perhaps chainfire might want to look into an update to his code, if this is specific to the sgs3 then maybe we have deeper issues to delve into.
Sprint...LF9...Blazer1.6...no other customizations
