Missing live wallpapers - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I noticed when I got my Gnex that it didn't come with a few of the original live wallpapers. The galaxy, black hole, grass and magic smoke were all missing from it. Can these be installed separately from from the core image? I imagine not, but wanted to get an official answer.

Hey,
I d say you'd at least need root. I did something like that extracting the Gummy rom flavor of the phase beam LWP, from my wife's Galaxy S lol.
But I did need root to use Root Explorer to /paste in the system folder of my Gnex...
If you have root, it should be fine, if not, yes, wait to see what the people who really know what they're talking about have to say ^^
PS:
Really? Magic Smoke? that s quite ugly
(opiniated comment )

Easy. One ring is for the year: 12 month. So, six months through the year it'll be halfway around.
One ring is days of the month. 31 days (or 30/28) will complete the ring. So, 15 days will be halfway.
Then you go to a single day: 24 hours in one ring (midday is halfway around), plus 60 minutes per hour (30 mins halfway around), then 60 seconds per minute (30 secs is halfway)

i have it on my tablet and i can pull it off if you really want it...but i have to say, it was a little laggy and looked like total crap (the cloudy part) on the nexus' screen. if it comes with a ROM i always just delete it...and that was my fav wallpaper for my thunderbolt.
as for the others, i am sure you can find them around the net by just searching.
and i am pretty sure AOKP has the smoke wallpapers and microbes in there.
i pulled gummy beam (gummys phased beam posted above) and installed it just like a normal app to my tablet and my current AOKP ROM. works great.

why hasnt google optimises the old lwp for ICS?

Thanks for the heads up. I found out by setting the launcher to no scroll wallpaper it reduces lag. So that fixes the lag issue. And my issue with flashing gummy is that I am a sprint user and we still don't have gummy.

Any dev or non dev have the nous to make a tablet rom?
Maybe a AOKP rom that is tweaked so runs in tablet mode from first boot?

Reading is quite useful.
You aren't entitled to an answer, people help for no personal gain.
You have no right to ***** if you don't get an answer in 3 HOURS.
set screen density to 160 and next time use search before you start throwing a pissy fit.
Haha, exactly why people leave Xda, answers like the above.
I know how to Google to change density etc, just thought a tablet based rom would be good. So everything is working correctly from the start.

Exactly.
That is what is wrong with xda.
In the few years I have been using these forums people ask for more and are half as grateful.
Its sad that people aren't bothered to educate themselves and put in the effort to find out something.
I've actually been looking into doing this. I just got my first rom to compile without errors, so it might be a while... I probably won't have this finished in a timely enough manner for the op anyway

This type of conversation is not exclusive to XDA. It happens in most all forum communities including Rootzwiki. As long as people can hide behind a screen name and a keyboard they will become overly narcissistic. The anonymity allows us to be rude, impatient, and condescending without remorse.
If you are not embraced by the community to the degree you feel entitled, then perhaps you suffer from the above. So pause before you blame the community, or their gracious hosts, and consider that honey attracts more flies than vinegar.

Ok maybe I was jumping the gun a bit with the quick post but i didn't think it would get answered until i posted again. So I apologise for that.
I know there are tweaks around but from what I've read there seems to be lots of incompatibility problems..
Just wondered if anyone had thought of creating a solely tablet based ROM - with everything working out of the box.

I think its more about people using this phone as their daily driver and I am not sure if tablet mode works for that.
I believe there is an easy flashible MOD for AOKP that does everything you need for tablet mode. It is just one extra flash so not horribly inconvenient.
I considered it for a moment but I asked myself what is the point really? Outside of a cool YouTube app other tablet apps could be more inconvenient due to actual screen size. Is there more to this than customizing for customazation's sake?

It would be cool if tablet mode could somehow be made toggable
Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus.
This is actually pretty easy to do on your own.
1) Download AOKP BETA 28 and gapps.
2) Download AOKP BETA 28 (Tabletaokp.zip) from http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20451-mod-12-roms-tablet-mode/
3) Extract files (only system folder) from Tabletaokp.zip, open AOKP BETA 28 with winrar(or whatever zip program you use) and gapps. Put the files from Tabletaokp.zip into AOKP BETA 28 zip & gapps as listed below.
3a)In AOKP BETA 28 zip Put build.prop in system folder(overwriting), put system/apps/Phone.apk in system/app folder(overwriting).
3b) In gapps zip put /system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk & Phonesky.apk in system/app
4) Install new rom, gapps and have tablet mode from the start (this is actually how i do it)
Would you recommend it? Anything better or worse than phone mode? Such as tablet apps being difficult to read (like a news app), or accidentally taping the wrong icon due to the denser grid?

need a new combo - AOKP/Franco Milestones suck

been on it since day 1 both are released cause everyone told me they are the best. when i'm playing games or music, it lags. i click the power screen on button and it stays black until i click it like 5x and wait 30 seconds. battery life is terrible, i get like 3 hours under constant screen on usage which is ridic because i can't even leave the house without it dying
need a new combo
you suck. AOKP and Franco are the best....along with CM team
I just jumped back on AOKP + Franco after trying a ton of different combo's (CM9, Liquid, MIUI, Stock | Leankernel, GladOs, Faux) and this is by far the smoothest + most customize able setup you can have. Try backing everything up and doing a clean restore.
rascream rom + trinity kernel.. cant go wrong with this combo.
Try Slim ICS which comes with Lean Kernel. Just change the launcher if you don't like zeam.
Paranoid Android is a good rom also fn to play around with the dpi settings.
Personally I haven't had the troubles you had with AOKP and Franco. They run fine, I just get bored with roms after a few weeks. Perhaps your problems stem from apps you have installed. Have you tried running CPU spy or better battery stats to see what might be causing your troubles?
If it sucks so bad, make your own

Eh, it's just a trolly kind of day on XDA today.
I just got my GN the other night and first thing I did was put on the AOKP/Franco combination and I really like it. I was a very heavy user on my first day yesterday setting the phone up and all, plus it was the first full day after a nights charge.
I got home after work and I had 30% left after 13 hours. That makes me a happy camper. It can only get better from there as I slow down my usage.

Slim ICS has been REEALLY good for me, but then again every phone is different. I like Slim, Gummy, and Android Revolution HD. Give one of those a try.
Another thing you might want to check is which profile you have under setcpu or in the ROM options. If you have it set to hotplug (where one core is shut down when the phone goes to sleep) then that could cause the "wake up" issue.

Also, OP, I am not fond of Liquid but have heard of a lot of great things about it.
I've had AOKP MS5 & Franco's MS3 for the past couple weeks and I get 3 and a half hours+ screen on time and 24 hours on one charge. Not sure what you're problem is but that combo for me has been the best. Just updated to AOKP 37 btw.

damn, I really wanted to review his battery saving tips tips as i am already down to 84% after 2 and a half hours of the lightest use possible
EDIT: never mind, another classic case of a developer comparing apples to oranges. I am not going to name names but if I was to run those settings on the ICS rom I was running, I would get well over 24 hours of battery life. What is the point of having the convenience of Google wallet, if you have to fumble around in the menu turning on and off the NFC every time you use it. What is the point of having a Samsung based JB rom if you are going to turn off almost all of the Samsung baked in goodies (animations, S beam, ect). Might as well run CM 10, have NFC turned on and still have respectable battery life.
Don't get me wrong, he has done great work on this port but its like saying my 800HP small block chevy will get you great gas mileage.....if you bolt on a 2 barrel carb, limit the throttle travel, and under drive the blower.
