Metallic/gNex type battery cover for Samsung Galaxy S III - Galaxy S III Accessories

Hi, everyone when I saw the engadget's first hand on video with Galaxy S III, I did saw the battery cover does attracts fingerprints a lot, actually not surprised but I wondered if someone would come up with a battery cover as an accessory. A metallic battery cover or the battery cover like galaxy nexus. I know that Samsung is stick with plastic because of overall weight of the device but some changes like this (the battery cover) would have been favourable for Samsung. A kickstarter project will be welcomed.

This is a great idea, this is one of the aspects of the phone I do not like. I hope some of the accessory makers make some funky back cases. Or I am hoping for some leather skins from Zagg to stick over the back

Alloy or Ceramic back cover for S3
That’s can be an excellent idea but not sure the wireless charger will work with ally back cover

It has been proven that metal cover leads to risk of fire/death/destruction with wireless charging, so plastic is the way to go, and far more shock absorbent than metal (car bumpers)

Wireless charging will apparently need a different back cover which will be included in the wireless kit, so probably worth waiting until pictures of that emerge before looking at other battery covers.

So I installed my Best Skins Ever full body skin and the back looks terrible...

It looks like some parts stuck and some parts didn't. Anything I can do about this, or am I gonna have to live with it?
http://i.imgur.com/ZrtP4.jpg
honestly I don't see the need for it on the back cover itself. It's texture makes it difficult to stick a layer on it to begin with - but it's such a flimsy piece of plastic that will probably bend and very unlikely to have any damages to it even when the phone drops.
Happened to me too, throwing it in an otterbox(just wanted extra protection) so this doesn't affect me too much.

Yes, it's on. I applied it yesterday and thought it would get better, but it didn't.
That's how mine looks too. There's nothing you can do about it it seems. I've had mine for about 2 weeks now and still looks like that. It definitely has to do with the textured back... I'm going to just peel mine off and if it ever gets damaged, I'll just buy a new one.
Welp, it says this now on the BSE website:
Application Note: We have found the best method for applying the battery door Skin is without application solution. Simply damp your finger tips, align the Skin to the battery door and squeegee the air out from the center out. Any uneven effect will settle out within 24 hours.

Mine came with side bits that fit the GSM model.
Yikes! Good to know. :S
I'd just get a new back. That's... hmm.
Hey guys. If you apply the battery door Skin to your Galaxy Nexus with the standard wet method and it turned out like the above pictures, we'd be happy to send you a replacement back Skin so you can reapply it with the dry method. It looks much better when done that way. Just open a support ticket at bestskinsever com/support and we'll get you taken care of.
Thanks!

I can confirm that it fits the lte nexus. Its not 100% but the fit is pretty good. You would have to look really hard to tell that some seams have a wider gap than other BSE skins I've used.
I also have the extended battery and it fits the cover too. Just doesn't go to the edge. But its hard to tell that it wasn't made for the lte model.
Also apply the back using the dry method and it'll look a lot better.
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback on the LTE version. This is in line with previous feedback we've received. The minimal difference in size between the LTE and GSM models shouldn't be very noticeable with the Skin applied. As it is, the flowing lines of the Galaxy Nexus requires a pattern that includes a little room for error when applying any way. The coverage is still very good and detailed though.

Doh! If you open a ticket with support they can do something for you. Just mention this post.
Michael, two questions.
The edges on the skin are still tacky enough to collect lint. I did not have this issue on my previous devices with BSEs installed. Is there anything I can do to stop this?
Also, even though I used the wet application method for installing the screen skin, it seems as though the glue still stretched enough to cause distortion. Will this eventually even out or do I need to try again?
Thanks.

GoGoStand

With the lack of a kickstands on our Galaxy nexus it has many of us searching for a solution ... there is one kickstand case online but IMHO its an eyesore and does not look durable at all. Which caused me to continue looking, and tis is what I found.
The GoGoStand is portable (same size as a credit card), durable, cheap ($5 from gogostand.com), and has many viewing angles for different uses.
I purchased it expecting nothing but found myself using it all the time. I store it in my tpu phone case and it fits perfectly, even with the extended (2000mah oem) battery.
I highly recommend this to all galaxy nexus users as its extremely useful for an on the go stand with multiple viewing angles.
Btw, this will work with and without cases and also comes in several colors.
Looks interesting. And at that price, it couldn't hurt to try. Gonna buy 3 of them and we'll see how it goes.
i first got one of these when i just got my nexus one. it's pretty reliable and i just leave it in my wallet. i was worried that numerous times you fold it would eventually weaken it, but it's still able to hold my gnex just fine.
i got one of theses a long time ago and it's still in my wallet. doesnt get too much use but when i want it, its there. no problems at all with durability
Have you seen the Seidio Active case? It has a kickstand. We've been discussing it on the case sticky.

Are you guys using your phones a ton for video and what not, and that is why you need a stand? I use it for short youtube clips, but even when I had my Evo and Thunderbolt, I never really used the kickstand for media. It was more something to play with when I was bored.

I stream a lot of Youtube and Revision3, but also use it for charging (clock). Useful for music as well using the speaker I can project against a wall or the stand itself instead of just straight up or down.

iFace Anti-shock Case

What do you guys think?
Here's a link to the shop on ebay: Link.
I'm looking for something a little stylish in design and came across this.
I'm trying to favor Form over the actual function of a case. I'm almost tempted to get this one, but I wanted to see what others had as an opinion on it.
This case looks very similar to the iOttie Macaron case (see here)
If it is similar to that case as in feel and fit for the phone then I will buy this case immediately. I loved my iOttie for my iPhone 5 when I had it.

I got my case in the mail over the weekend. I'll post pictures later.
Overall, it's very nice. The grip feels very good in the hand, and the case itself makes a perfect fit around the phone. The buttons aren't too tight like I've seen on other cases, but they make good enough contact that they work with every press. I'd even go as far as saying that pressing the buttons in the case feel more tactile than pressing the buttons on the phone itself.
My one complaint has to do with the rounded back. Oftentimes when I'm at restaurants or sitting at my desk, I'll set my phone on the table to use it. The rounded back makes the touch screen awkward to use as the case tends to slide the phone around a bit, or spin in place. I'd also gripe that the "iFace" logo is upside down when the phone is in proper landscape mode for camera use. No big deal though.
I got my case in the Android shade Lime-green color, but it comes in many different colors.
Also, Shipping took exactly two weeks for me, but YMMV.

It's not a whole lot to look at, but hopefully it helps. Excuse the orange paint stains on my kitchen counter. It's really bothering me in these pictures.
The back. Ample enough protection for the camera lens.
Spoiler
I really like the rounded contours along the perimeter of the phone. it feels good in the hand. It's got a soft rubbery grip. I actually nearly dropped my phone while taking one of these pictures, luckily for the grip...I managed to catch it in time.
Spoiler
The space for the MicroUSB and 3.5mm jack: Could be a bit tight for some, but works for all of my cords. My largest USB has quite a snug fit.
Spoiler
EDIT:WHELP, spoiler tags don't work like I assumed. Also, If you notice the ruler in the background, I was going to try and get some measurements, but a paper ruler doesnt do me very good when trying to figure out a difference between a couple milimeters. As far as thickness goes, the case doesn't even add a full milimeter. The sides are a bit of a different story, due to the rounded edges.
iFace case is strongly recommended for the Optimus G. It is very good quality with excellent grip.
Here is a link;

I've had a number of....accidental drop tests. This is truly a great case. The rubber bump-edge really does an excellent job protecting from falls. These aren't just little baby falls either, for instance, last night, my poor little phone fell from my hand, about 5 feet onto hard brick flooring. I've yet to acquire a single scratch anywhere on my phone!

I believe the case uses a 1 way type of mesh that allows sound out but no fluids in. The otterbox armor series has a similar mesh that allows no water in but sound out. I'd just wait for that case

I have the obex , I absolutely hate worst case I ever owened people can hear you when your usimg the phone , the people on the other line sound muffled , only way to use the phone call option is turning speaker phone on.. but I don't know about you all but don't want everyone to know what I'm talking about
Also when phone in this case as well the back button takes forever to get it to respond and you almost have to force the button down , the built screen protector is ten times worse then the otterbox defender its sensitivity sucks
Would I recommend this case to anyone ? HECK NO !!!
If I could get my money back would I send it back? HECK YES !!!
IM WAITING for the otterbox armor case that looks way better and not a rushed product like the obex was.... they rushed there product to beat otterbox and lifeproof to the sales floor .. thus its a big piece of junk

[Q] Galaxy Death Note 8.0

Hi,
I've been playing latlely with my galaxy note 8.0 wich by the way is the best tablet I've ever used and notice that is very slipery.
I have never dropped it or anithing so before it happens I decided to use some magic spell on it called protecturum griporum Plasti dip!!!... anyway, the question is:
Do you think it would damage the tablet over time?? heating or something else??
So far so good, no noticeable overheating or signal looss, it is indeed A LOT grippier. it is the first try so I didnt take to much time with the masking tape nor painting the logo, If it happens to be no problem whit it and I find it realy apealing, I will remove this coat and apply 3 coats of plasty dip and paint the logo using a stencil or something (sugestions?).
Anyway please post your comments, here some pics:
Is it clear, looks like you started with a black/brown Note. Did it make the Note less slippery. Will be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

Yea! It made it a lot less slippery, much secure to hold and set on surfaces where previously it would feel like sliding off or damaging the shiny white plastic.
I got the Galaxy note 8.0 in eBay for a reasonable price and the plasti-dip can was a gift from a friend who used it to protect some bicycle parts and got some to spare, I’m nor really sure where did he buy it but I guess plastidip.com is a good start.
It been two days and heavy usage of the tablet, no overheating o performance issues whatsoever so I would say it’s a safe procedure, will try the 3 coats and possibly vinyl logo in a few weeks.:good:
Cheers!!!

Actually looks to me like he had the white version of the Note...the s-pen is white and I think I see some white near the edges where the coating is not completely even, but maybe the original poster can clarify for us. Is this coating black or clear?
Thanks!
I was just thinking of is that material toxic or not

Hi there!
Actually you are right it is the white version and the coating is black I would love to try the clear but haven’t found a seller near me yet.
The brown version looks so cool too.

:| I have no clue... I mean the can isn’t very clear, it doesn’t say anything about the dry product, although it says the regular: keep off from eyes or skin and vapors inhaling and the sort, but every paint can says something similar so... Anyway it’s a great question so I checked in plasti-dip official page and found:
"Is Plasti Dip® safe to use on children's toys, animal containment, and/or on kitchen utensils?
Plasti Dip® does not contain any heavy metals, and when completely dry, is considered harmless. However, it is not recommended that it be used on items that may be chewed or inserted into the mouth as it may present a choking hazard."
I’m hoping this is accurate cause I like the feeling of the Death Note 8.0 and I have already plasti-dipped my keyboards hand rest and mouse hahaha... let’s keep researching.
If I find something significant I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks for the feedback
