Led notification - HTC One V

Hi, the led notify missed calls, sms... for 5 minutes but after that turn itself off, I didn't find any settings to controll the time to stay on, maybe is some file to modify with root explorer to increase the time?

I'm also interested in a solution. Tried some applications like light flow but they did not work on the V.

i get this issue also, but i think this is made in purpose by HTC in terms of saving battery

It must be a simple way to increase the time... maybe some dev. can help us

It is the same for One X. Some dev say it is kernel related to control it and HTC do it that way to save battery.

Yes, but when the battery is under 15% the led is flashing continuously and drain faster :-(

This is seriously a big issue for me too.. i am unable to know when sms comes when i am away from phone after sometime it shows no change in screen as well as led light stops blinking.. there must be some app to keep me notified..

Hi if you need an app to notify you can try No-LED from the market. It is for phones that don't have traditional LEDs and displays icons on-screen to notify you about what kind of notifications you have. Also it supports notifications from all apps on your phone, not just mail, calls and sms.

Hope that helps .

Asking a question like this will NOT give you a good answer.
As the phone has tens of thousands of aplications with milljons of lines of code. And even difrent kinds of.phones.
And you think we can guess what you are using. Please try again.
And remember you are asking the question, so make it as easy for the people answering your question!
That means model software version and an example of what you want as many have no clue about the iPhone.
Ignorance is NOT an excuse!

If you was using the XDA website, like most people, you would see that he has a signature. It contains information such as: his phone, rom, radio, etc etc etc.
Also, we're in the DESIRE HD forum - do you really need to ask what phone he has?

[Question] android app

Is there an android app or something that can be used that would allow people to be notified of new posts, in particular forums, or even threads on different websites? I belong to android forums, several car and truck forums and such and sometimes it takes me a while to go and view the topics only to realize there were no new posts and such. Just wondering if any such thing exsisted. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks.
Tapatalk is the app that it sounds like you need.
I think there is another app called forum runner.
Try those two out...
Also, you may be able to configure your settings within the forum websites themselves to notify you about new posts, threads, etc.
Good luck to you.

Do either one of these apps give you notifications when someone replys etc or d o you have to open the apps above up and lookthrough subscriptions?

Not sure about tapatalk, but if you just configure each forum to email you when a new reply is posted, you will get the email instantly.
Also, there is a setting for notifications in the xda app (I know that doesn't help for your other forums, but I believe it is very similar in setup to tapa) that allows you to receive notifications under many conditions...

SMS sound saying "nexus"

Hi,
i downloaded a cool sms sound from a site someday...but since my nexus crashed i lost the sound
does anyone perhaps have it and willing to share it with me ?
it was an sms sound saying in a computer like voice "nexus"
Search tool? Google?
This thread is unnecessary.
I don't have the sound though if that helps.
So... go back to where you found it and DL it again? Or use one of the dozens of ringtone downloader apps?
I think I have that file too , I remember I downloaded it from nexus one forums.
Edit: this one?

Why does some user always pop up telling someone that the thread is unnecessary? A thread like this ends up turning other users on to a ringtone that you enjoy. What's the harm?? This is a site with tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of threads. It seems such a waste of time (and very annoying) to litter so many threads with that comment. Let's just enjoy this place. An extra thread won't hurt and it might help.
Look at how many threads popped up the moment Google began selling this phone in the play store. It's like 10 duplicate threads. And look, xda didn't explode!
FWIW I'm now using this ringtone. Thanks!!

I just got this weird icon in my task bar (white square with two bent lines in it). I attached a picture. I have checked all programs for icons, nothing is in the drop down, I have gone to the "about me" in settings and checked for an update, none available.

This is ridiculous. Not everyone is an expert in this phone. Get over yourself, and try being helpful instead of just an overall prick.
I get the idea of telling people to search, and that is totally understandable, but responses like this really piss me off. You were a "noob" once too.
OP, this icon indicates NFC is turned on in the software (Near Field Communications) as already indicated by scmlee.
To be more helpful than the post I quoted, you can take a screenshot with the Note 2 much easier than how you did it. Check out this video to how to do screenshots.

Perhaps. But guiding people, who managed to find their way to xda, to try and do some research on their own first, like searching or reading thread titles, empowers them to be stronger users. And it cuts back on the 20+ threads with the exact same topic and title.

It's called a statusbar. Taskbars are for Windows.
I kind of have to defend the OP here, as I had the very same question when I got the AT&T variant of the Note2. I'm hardly a newbie, but I've generally avoided the US variants of these phones (and that icon doesn't appear on any of the international firmware releases that I've seen.)
As for searching, what search term would you suggest? Without knowing that it relates to "NFC", there really aren't any good keywords to use that would narrow down the search. The message subject ("weird icon in the upper task bar") doesn't generate anything useful (other than this thread which didn't exist when the OP was made.)
If you get REALLY lucky, you might get just the right combination of keywords to hit a previous thread. For example, "strange icon notification" will hit the Q&A thread I made almost 2 months ago.)
About the ONLY thing I can fault the OP for is that this should have been posted in the device Q&A (and not the device General) section. That, however, is a pretty typical mistake and I've even been guilty of it on occasion.
Take care
Gary

XDA has real expenses like server maintainance,

they need some financial aid to help them provide you people the service,
XDA never forced you to pay a dime but have given you a tremendous amount of service,
i'd like to see you manage a server with 4,000,000 users and let's see how well you go

that's fine, I understand, I have no issue with XDA asking for donation or anything. But how is this an reason for an independent forum app? There are thousands of forums, many with millions of members and I am a member of many forums. I don't see the logic for me to download independent app for each of these forum if they each had one.

it's kinda rude, saying that XDA is doing it for bucks,
since they did this to provide users an independent forum app,
you justified the means without proper knowledge,
And to put it, Tapatalk is a paid app. And XDA offers free as well as premium app. So users who don't have Tapatalk has the option to get the free XDA app, if they have only registered on XDA for browsing the forums. Not many users are members of different forums.
i got both...but to be honest i only use XDA app now as this is the only forum i check. and if by me having the premium version helps support for the maintenance of the site, it is the least i can do for what i have learned from XDA over the last two years and the goodies that i have done to my phone to make it better
The reason? I find 1.50 € for learning english a very, very, fair price (i have both premium apps)

Reread your thread title and OP. Nowhere does it state that it's directed to people who use multiple forums, and you probably would have received different replies completely if you had made that clear. All you did was make the XDA app seem useless, which is wrong, because for people who only use XDA there's no point paying for tapatalk.

Personally, I don't see any difference between the two. They are identical to me, except that Tap can have multiple forums in it, obviously.
But I am having a problem with both and can't use any of the four forum apps I have purchased:
XDA Premium (phone)
XDA HD (tablet)
TapaTalk HD
TapaTalk 2
Don't get me wrong, I am more than happy to support the developers! I'm not bragging, but I have purchased about 300 apps in the last year and most of them worked fine without paying for them. I just wanted to make clear that this is not about complaining because of spending the money. I just sincerely want to be able to use them and I can't use any of the four.
What I mean by that, is that after scouring XDA and Google, I cannot find any help on how to view messages that I have received email notifications for, like when someone responds directly to one of your posts, or even when they post in a thread/forum you are Subscribed to.
I know that I can go into the XDA/TapaTalk (2) apps and go to:
LATEST >> PARTICIPATED
... But that doesn't take me to the posts that I have been notified about, like if I tap the link in the email and it takes me right to the message, ya know?
So I end up tapping the link and trying to view the messages in the browser on my phone, but since XDA does not have a mobile version of their web site, I end up double-tapping it to try to blow it up and then moving it all around the screen, back and forth, to try to read the message.
And of course, posting that way is Hell! It is very difficult to get it to go back up in the message and you can't even see a whole sentence, because it's blown up and the regular display is microscopic!
Does anyonne know how it is done? I love the concept of these apps, but I cannot believe that they would have left that sort of feature out, given that people would constantly be responding to posts they are notified about, right?
So I figure that I must be missing something. But I have looked at these apps for almost a year now (and recently purchased the new TapaTalk 2, hoping it had stuff the original doesn't) and I just can't find how to do this.
Does anyone know how this is done? Please?
Again, going to LATEST >> PARTICIPATED does not list/take me to the messages I am being notified about. The threads are in the list somewhere, I'm sure, but I'm hoping to do it like I do when I tap on the link in an email message. It would be really cool if you tapped on one and it opened Tap right to that specific message that you're being notified about!
I may have missed this answer somewhere in these forums, but I swear, I did scour them as best I could and I just cannot find this specific help! Nor did I find any help from the Tap folks, except how a forum owner could add their forum and a Google search produced the same result.
I apologize for the long message. I just wanted to make sure that I was absolutely clear, so that folks did not just guide me to "LATEST >> PARTICIPATED".
Thanks!!!

Big post.
So basically what you want is when you click on a link on any other app (mail for eg. since its giving you notifications). You need to clear all the defaults you have set around with your browsers. (do it from settings»applications»manage»here).
After that whenever you click on a link, it will show up a popup to chose the app to procede for the link. If the link is from xda use tapatalk (it'll take you to the post right away), if from other site, use your preffered browser. Again do not set anything as default as tapatalk cannot open other sites and you will need to clear the defaults again.
A Hero Can Be Anyone.
Dear Bruce Wayne,
Okay, I did what you said and it did not take me to the exact message. But it did take me to the same page, which makes it just a matter of scrolling down a few swipes up worth to scroll down to the message, which is certainly plenty good enough!
Plus, now I understand why this app's default posts per page is set to 10.
Thanks a bunch for your help, Bruce! I mean that! I can now, finally, use TapaTalk after a year of owning it! And that's because you took a few minutes out of your time to answer my question simply and plainly, without first assuming a certain level of knowledge on my part and I really appreciate that!
And I'm sincerely not trying to patronize you. As I said, I do mean that. It can be very difficult to get help, when so many people see a question as being "stupid" and you can't find anything on the web, ya know?
There was one thing I noticed though in the TapaTalk 2 app, which was that there was no option to "Quote" when responding (I wanted to quote a couple of sentences of you response when I replied).
Is there a trick to making it show that option that you know of?
If there isn't one, how would you know if it's responding to the message you're looking at on the screen?
Sorry to bother you again, Bruce! Last time, I promise!
