I just got my warranty replacement and its awesome - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I'm using the stock software installed by Samsung and then I added macnut r1 which is booming with system tuner.
I left the CPU setting to disabled on st and I made the sd red at 6145 with deadline to make it keep up with the necessities whig was set to apply on after boot sure to the restraints which i'm trying to get by; it keeps on failing when I try to apply it to init.d.
After which I set boost app loading to init.d without a problem and clear cache on boot which both work fine.
Last but not least I applied the v6 supercharger script and kak and 3g turbo with after burner and null.
Now my things are going great, I know that some tweaks could help but I think that reputability is my issue, I really like the way the stock sixteen was setup by Samsung, its solid and ensuring for some strange reason. Maybe tweaks do hurt sometimes, but honestly the kernels make the whole thing a ball.
Have fun, try the kernels or before the roms and use system tuner to make your adjustments and don't forget to leave the memory settings in system tuner disabled so our doesn't mistake the string fit null and reset them. That when using the v6 supercharger. Anyone know how to change the io settings on the init.d script? I used to know how but I forgot.

First one had issues with extreme overheating like to where i couldnt even hold the phone had to take off battery, second one had screen issues, vertical lines ans slight overheating.
Now this one luckily no screen issues or overheating but three days ago it started not charging my battery :/
It just displays an empty battery with a yellow triangle....

Hey,
Can anyone explain how to do the warranty replacement you guys are talking about?
I have noticed that in the last month my S2 has developed the infamous blobs and lines problem. Specifically however, it has developed a rather large blob which can be seen even if the screen is at 50% brightness. A tad annoying.
My past experience when a phone has broken down is that it took T-Mobile 2 weeks to get me the replacement and I had no phone for 2 weeks. Hence I've been reluctant to send in my functional S2 with the blob. If anyone can assist me in detailing how to do an in-store exchange, I would be very grateful.

Either tell Tmobile your problem or go to a Tmobile store and with a hostile attitude non verbal threats ask them to exchange you're phone with customer care then peel thir skin back for **** you don't really do.

X2 again lol.
You don't need to be hostile with the workers. You just tell them you have a problem, they'll replicate the problem or confirm it at least. Then they will go through a protocol of factory resetting the phone. If the problem isn't fix, they will submit a warranty exchange.
They either will be able to do the exchange on the spot. Or they will put in an order for an exchange.
I find it easier to just call in. They will tell you to factory reset it and ask you if the problem is still there. I never follow to reset the phone because it's a pain to set up again and i know it's a hardware malfunction... So I just pretend that i did and tell them the problem is still present, they'll just issue you an exchange without a problem.

Messed up display after dropped phone. Green tint! Help!

So I dropped my epic at work today and everything works, but now my display is tinted green. I'm on legendary. I know it's probably hardware issue and needs to be returned. Haven't reflashed or anything yet. Any advice?

Odin phone back to ec05 stock , pull ur sd card out and take phone to sprint to check out. Do not show them ur sd card (because it will have clockworkmod). Don't even tell them ur phone was rooted. Just show them the problem and that's it. As long as u have total equipment protection, u should be fine.

Sounds like you knocked the ribbon cable to the LCD loose if you have TEP let Sprint fix that for you.
Clockworkmod isn't on the SD card... it has its own partition on the onenand. I'm sure they wont care if you are rooted but just in case follow the restore the epic from the brink guide in the development section.

The store near me acts like they've been covered in acid. The tech won't go near them. I asked him why and he said that his training never covered the differences between rooted and non-rooted phones so he doesn't want to brick them and end up owing the store the money for a new phone to give to the customer. These are the same people who think it's alright and normal for my mother's phone to drop every other call. YMMV with Sprint stores, there are really good ones and really bad ones. Remember that if they treat you poorly there is no requirement for you ever to give them your business again.
Hey guys, I just want to thank everyone for all the advice! I Odin'd back to stock ec05 went to stock EI22 and brought it back to the sprint store. I was convinced it was a loose ribbon and that I dropped it, obviously, and told the rep. He responded we won't tell [the tech] them that. They said they needed it for 1 hour and a half.
I was hoping they would fix the phone and tell me what the problem was. They just replaced it with a new one (maybe refurbished :\ ). So I didn't get to find out the problem.
Judging by the way they handled it they probably weren't concerned if it was rooted

Random freezing/reboots...HELP!!

So basically what's going on is that once or twice a day my phone freezes (causing me to have to do a battery pull) or randomly reboots. I have tried three different roms (one being stock rooted) and the problem still occurs. I've tried different kernels, different modems, and changed everything I thought might help, including disabling SetCPU. I'm completely baffled, and I'm to the point that I think my beloved E4GT might be defective. So any help or suggestions would be great. TIA.
BTW my current setup is...
Blazer ROM 3.7
EL29 modem
Gunslinger kernel
TW4 launcher (not sure if that matters)

Is your phone possibly overheating? Cause it definitely sounds like a hardware related issue.
That's kinda what I was thinking... When it restarts on its own the notification LED turns pink and I swear I read somewhere that it means the phone has overheated.
Funny thing is, most of the time after it reboots I can use my phone for hours with moderate-heavy use and it won't do it again... It's so random

I would just take it back to stock, then to Sprint for a swap. Do you have insurance on your device? If not, you'll still be under the 1 year manufacturer warranty, and it will only cost $35 to get another device.
Yeah I have insurance... Just got off the phone with tech support and I'm going to the store later.
I know the manager at the store I'm going to so maybe I'll try to get him to let me swap it for a white E4GT lol

Bought the SII on eBay for Cheap - Little Problem

Hi guys,
I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII on eBay. I decided to take the plunge even though the seller said it was for "parts and not working". He said the problem he was having was that the phone would shut off by itself, no matter what he did. He said this happened maybe once every 10 times he pressed the sleep button.
I got it yesterday and started messing around with it. I haven't encountered the problem yet but I only used it for a few hours. I proceeded to successfully root the device and flashed a custom ROM (CyanogenMod 10 - JB 4.1.1) and it seems to work ok. I'm not using the phone yet and I guess I was just wondering if you think the problem may have just "gone away". If it did, I would feel very lucky. I won't know for sure until I start using the phone regularly, but I needed a reliable phone today at work and that's why I didn't bring it with.
Any thoughts on what could cause this issue and possible solutions are appreciated. I've read some people say it's related to the CPU or the button itself, or perhaps even the battery. The owner had never rooted the phone so he was just running the regular T-Mobile Gingerbread rom.
Thanks and Happy Friday!
Probably the power button problem

Thanks for answering, Teo. If it's that, it should be fairly simple to fix. I'll report back just in case somebody is having the same issue.
Since the JB ROM's suffer from random restarts and sleep of death issues, I would recommend flashing an ICS ROM. This will get you a more stable environment for testing, so if the device suddenly shuts it self off, you'll know it's not the ROM.

+1 to this suggestion. Flash a ROM that is known to be stable so you can confirm the original issue. I'd suggest stock (gb or ics, doesn't matter) for the best test environment.

I bought it used on eBay, I'm not the original owner. And I didn't see the SquareTrade warranty option for this purchase, perhaps because it was under "For parts & not working". I haven't come across the problem yet. I have flashed a few different roms (ICS) but every one of them has given me some type of problem. I'm still using my very reliable myTouch 4G and I'm starting to doubt if I really want to dump it for the SII.

**Ultimate GS3 sudden death thread** (Tmo version)

Hi guys, recently lots of S3 owners encouter this scary issue that their S3's motherboards just failed randomly and the phones are dead. Here is the link to the thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993044
However, after reading pages, I noticed most cases are in the UK, some in other europe countries, some in asia (india, south east asia). Not sure the US version (and Tmo version specificly) is suffering from this, so I made this thread to gather information about this. I know I am paranoid, but I was hoping my S3 would last at least 2 years til my next upgrade. And now Im living in fear after knowing that thread. My S3 (manufacture date is 06/27/12) is still performing very fine with zero issue since august except the SD card being removed unexpectedly 2 times by the phone itself.
(btw, you can check your manufature date by dial this code: *#12580*369# )
Edit: seems like only international version suffers from this issue.

as much as i hate to say this but if this does happen to mine, this will be the last time I buy from Samsung and might jump ship to Apple where I can take a phone in a get it fixed in time.
Im pretty happy with Samsung, I deal with warranty on a day to day basis in another way but there is an expected amount of devices that go out that a company knows is going to fail at some point and also rely on returns for warranted devices to see what went wrong in production in order to correct it.
The problem is you have "X" amount of people on the forum which is big in consideration to a regular site and "Y" with the same problem and people group in and make the issue bigger than it is. Any company that posts a recall is at the point that OVER 42% of the product with the same failure over the release.
With that said I haven't had one problem with mine that others have reported and after being let down by HTC time and time again I most definitely will buy another Samsung device, so far it's been the best I've had out of the collection of smartphones I have.

You dont have to go to the store, call T-Mobile and they will send you one with an RMA, as soon as you get it put the old one in the box and send it out. All they do is check for water damage and put it up for refurbish they don't waste time putting it through testing they test the devices that may have account info on it if you can't power it up to format it before sending it back. They ask you that on the phone.

So does this mean that none of the tmo peeps have had no issues with their devices dying? I only ask because, I just got my galaxy last Wednesday. Had a couple quirks, but nothing's dead yet. Had a little issue with my music and swipe. When I would get my notifications tones say from email I would be listening to music, the sound would nearly drown out and stay that way till I paused my music and started again all was fine. I've been getting random screen flashes near the bottom of the screen, like a ton of lines like a glitch. Anyone else having this issue as well? Feel free to add anything else if you like.

Sounds to me like you might have activated something in developers options, go in settings and see if you selected anything that would flash the screen if long processes are in use.

Nothing in dev out of the usual, only thing being ticked is the usb debugging, and turned up the animation scales, transitions etc to .05, animations were at 1, but I was using swype, only happens when using that. Any better keyboards I can download on the market better than the Samsung or swype?

Did you enable any traces? That would show depending on what you have checked. I was gonna try enabling a few to see what it does but it's not like it would ruin anything. I'll report back though to see if I can recreate it.
Edit nope that did nothing, hope you figure it out, I never had that happen before.

Possible sds

Hello
5 month Note 2 user that had almost no complaints till early april where my phone started lagging, restarting every few hours(it did restart once every 2-3 days since they day i bought it) and touch screen not being responsive. Result was the problem becoming worse and me having to search for it and finding out about SDS. I checked my phone through EMMC and it says my chip is insane... as soon as I saw that I tried backing everything up but as it turned out, it was too late..I've lost all my game data (I've managed to copy a few games but its a few stages back..for example my subway surfers save is like 2-3 months back...), i've lost ALL of my contacts and my smscontact backup says it has no contacts on the backupfile...
regardless, I sent it to the local Samsung retail and they kept it for a week, got it back today, same thing happening...They told me they found humidity + errors on my phone and they had to clear/wipe it out completely. Its been like 3-4 hours since i got it and it already got stuck at a black home screen error + unable to swap applications and once on a non-responsive touch screen. I contacted the Samsung retailer and he told me that it could be an error from my SD card. I highly doubt that, am using a san disk 32gb ultra speed and I only have movies on it actually so...
Now my 'questions'...What can I do? Rooting it can fix it? Or will it void my warranty completely? If I root and it breaks again can I unroot and send it to have it fixed? And if they cant fix it, do they replace my phone with another one? Like a new note 2 or a new samsung phone?
Thanks
Ps: already posted this on sprint forums by mistake and it was suggested to me to try removing my sd card..no difference

well it is what people say "symptoms of the sudden death" so probably and all says that( 5 months, strange behaviour. .) if they dont fix you can talk to them that probably it is SDS if not you'll have to wait until the phone dies or send lots of times (like a guy who said that here in xda) and they probably replace the motherboard. theres nothing at the moment to do if it have been affected by the corrupted data but you can update to the latest firmware which is suposed to have the fix
hope I answered your question
Bests

Was the 5 months too late for it to take effect?i already called them and they told me that they know nothing about the SDS.. they said they can only change my phones internal/motherboard (as they said "just the plaque not ur device"
Latest update is 4.1.2? Thats what i have.. they gave me the option of buying another phone..should i? Am afraid of getting another sds affected note

well the problem is that if the phone send some corrupted data to the chip when you were at 4.1.1 there's nothing to do.
The repair centre "doesn't know about it" because if they do know they'll have to asume that problem and they will lose money. The correct procediment is to change de motherboard however sometimes they just put an old one with the insane chip again. If you really want this phone and I assume that you do like it, when they replace and send it back update to 4.1.2 ASAP therefore they usually update before sending back.

They are already losing money when they fix my phone cause of full warranty.. i loved the phone but am disappointed right now and with the possibility of changing phones i dont mind..cause all in all it has its downsides..ie too big to carry, takes a looong time to charge and regardless ive already lost all my data so its already like i got a new phone..
How can i know if they changed my motherboard?

You should have a new imei if they changed mb i think.
I bought note because of the screen, dont mind using it with both hands thats the price you have to pay if you want that commodity of big display.
And its charging like every phone, maybe a little longer but instead you have great battery life.

How can i test if my imei is a new one and not from a previous user?
I did buy it too but any below 1.5A charger charges too slowly..and the size does matter for me cause am currently serving the army and its harder for me to handle...

I use original charger at home and 2.1a car charger and it charges really fast.
You should maybe check out xperia z,it has ip57 certificate,it is lot tougher than note and a bit smaller.

Nobody loses money but Samsung. Your local samsung service center is not Samsung company. They are third companies that have an agreement with Samsung to fix samsung phones officially in your country.
They lose money only if they replace a motherboard that is already working or not covered under warranty (user faults).
Once I talked(personally) to one of Samsung services in my country, they said mostly they are not able to understand these new generation smartphones. Most of the time all they do is just replacing motherboards, they said
My suggestion to you, print several sudden death syndrome reported web pages and show them or email them if you can. Samsung is replacing bricked motherboards with no question asked (even rooted ones).
Media volume bar is disabled now...

I find it very strange, especially since these issues do not seem related to eMMC commands. Did you ever try using the phone without the sd card to eliminate the possibility?
