[Q] Unable to mount USB in CWM 5.8.3.1 - HTC One X

Hi,
In Mount and storage when im trying to get access to internal memory I get an error 'Unable to open ums lunfile'
Yesterday I thought I have bricked one of my HOX coz my zip with ROM was corrupted (I have not transfer the file in 100% - stupid me) then it took me a while to get a working adb command to push the file on 'sdcard' and finally install the ROM. Its not right that I cant mount the sdcard.. isnt it ...
I was trying to find the answer but I cant find anything clear....
Please help.. I have same problem with both my HOX'es

Why can't you just push with adb..?

CWM recovery doesn't support usb mounting, as you can see from the first post of the CWM thread, so yes that is normal.

As of 5.8.4.0, ClockworkMod supports usb mount. It was released in June. You can still use adb push to put files on your phone if you wish.

Error Mounting Data - help

I have installed many ROMs without problems, including this one. I had a problem and went back to a backup that I made yesterday (I have a total of 4 backups on my sdcard from the last several days). Unfortunately I get the following error(s) and I can not load any backup and I am stuck on the HTC Incredible white screen.
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblkOp1
(file exists)
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblkOp2
(file exists)
Help please....I don't want to have to go to Big Red for help...I am rooted.

Thanks....I have tried RUU, but I keep getting error and it can't mount "/data/" VZW is sending a "new" phone after I called CS and Tech Support this morning - I have learned to NEVER go to the store for "help".
I will backup my card when I get the new phone and them reformat the card.

Actually both....I am not entirely convinced that the PB13IMG.zip file got pushed properly...even though I did not get an error...maybe you can answer....does it get pushed to "-s" (sd card) or another location?
I am on a mac (I have windows also, but setting up adb was much quicker on mac) and I don't have the time for Windows setup, even with the Setup for Dummies that I found.

If your SD is fat32 I have one you just put on the root of you SD no need door adb just place it on the root of you SD but you have to make sure its formatted fat32 rename it PB31IMG.zip go into hboot wait on it to read your SD if you did everything right it will find it and ask you to press up on the volume to update do that and wait till it says update is done b4 you touch anything.....

[Q] usb sorage dosen't work in CWM? Can i push files to sd cards?

Hi!
My problem is that i flashed a mod and my phone went crazy, so i booted back to cwm.
But i can't use "mount USB storage". Is says "unable to open ums lunfile ( no such file or directory). Got cwm 5.5.0.2, So how can i send files to my phone?
P.S I forgot to make a backup so i can't restore :/ and i can't boot into cwm from the phone. I must connect it to my pc and open Galaxy Nexus ToolKit and launch it from there?
You can't mount USB storage in cwm because the phone does not support USB mass storage. You can push files in cwm using ADB.

I need of serious help
Okay so i have CWM and i had backups or so i thought i did. I was using cyanogenmod 9 then tried out AOKP well didnt care for it so i was going to access my last backup and after wiping everything on my Galaxy Nexus i went into recovery mode and tried to install my back up. When i did that it said nothing was found SOOOOO now i have nothing and im stuck in recovery mode. I tried to "mount USB storage" so i can put a ZIP on there but i get the well know message of "Unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)" Does anyone know of how i can get into my phones SDcard on my mac so i can put a ROM on there to flash. Yes i knew so if you start saying MTP and ADP i do not know what that means im sorry. PLEASE HELP!
Do you have ADB set up?
If so you can ADB push a rom.zip to your SD card and flash it.
Edit:
Actually...just flash any available ROM.
Even one you didn't like.
At least then you can boot up and access your SD card.
See thats the thing i thought i could do from my back ups so i didnt put any new ROM on there. And adb i do not know how to do that at all so im assuming no i dont

Huge problem no drive to transfer no android

Hey guys I got this huge problem...
I was getting lots of errors in the normal usage of my htc, after some updates.
So then i decided to use a custom ROM and it started ok but then crashed and rebooted.
After that I wiped the info from the sd card, but accidentaly erased all of it.
So now I just stay in the HTC screen, not able to transfer files into the sd card, the phone can start still in the clockworkmod window but I dont know how to turn the storage on.
Can you help me here? I just need to transfer files to the sd card, and it doedn't let me.
Windows 7 x64, it says k drive removable disk, drivers installed but its grayed out and won't let me open it. says it is not ready.
And when you click it it says please insert a disk in drive K:
what can i do?
In clockwork, click mounts and storage, then click mount usb storage, does that help?
Will it let you format the storage? If so that will be good enough for you to copy a rom across
If it doest, flashing an Ruu will definitely put everything back to how it was.
Mount sd card in cwm
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You will need CWM 5.8.4.0 or newer.
Won't let me do anything you suggested.
results:
mount usb storage: E: Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
formatting does work, it formats all cache, data, sdcard and system properly.
mount /sdcard gives the same result as usb storage.
and its version 5.8.2.7
Thanks, I hope something else could be done =S
Use this latest CWM Recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24738635&postcount=1
5.8.2.7 is outdated version.
Wish I could, now the battery is dead as well, I'm leaving it to recharge during the night, I hope it works.
Thanks a lot guys, and I wish someone has another solution =S I'm getting desperate here

You don't need another solution, you need cwm 5.8.4.0 or newer as posted above.

Yes but as I just said... it won't let me charge the phone, so installing that now is not possible, I already tried, I'm now trying to charge it but since the version I have installed is bugged it won't allow charge to go into the battery. that's why I asked for another solution, not that it was wrong.
Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, after I manage to charge it I think I can go from installing the clockwork then mounting the sd and finally flashing the RUU as sugested, but right now I can't even charge the phone.
There was a thread in this section somewhere with a solution to force the phone to charge (I think it was a script using adb which would force the phone to keep rebooting so it would charge a tiny bit each time until hours later it got to a reasonable charge), but you'll need to search because I can't find it at the minute. It was from a few months ago...
Edit: Here is someone talking about doing it manually, I'll see if I can find the other post I was thinking of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25133176&postcount=33

Great help man! It's working now.
I saw that thread before I remember but tried it and it didn't work, combine the 2 and it does work. I just needed to make it turn on with the manual stuff and then use the batch file, now its charging a bit. Hope it charges enough to flash it.
Thanks a lot man!

[Q] CWM Can't Mount The SDCard

Hello everyone, I'm sure that this has been asked quite a few times but after trying for hours & hours I finally decided that I'll get some help
I'm using a Rogers GS3.
So I have the Rogers Stock ROM installed, which is: root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4 (That's JB4.1).
& the latest CWM flashed(recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.0-d2tmo) which works quite great!
CWM mounts & shows the files on my external sd without a hitch but what it doesn't mount is the internal sd, it's the common error (When I try to view files to install it says; E: Can't mount /sdcard & when I try to manually mount it; Error mounting /sdcard).
Please, any help is appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Cheers!
so when you go to "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" you dont see any of your sd cards contents?
the "mount /sdcard" option under Mounts and Storage is for external sdcard

Yeah that's right, when I go to "install zip from sdcard" it doesn't show me any files & instead it gives me the error; E: Can't mount /sdacrd.
& well actually there are 2 options under Mounts & Storage, one Mount /sdacrd & the other Mount /ext_sdcard; the latter doesn't give me an error but the Mount /sdacrd does give me the error; Error Mounting /sdcard

Haha I think I figured out what's wrong, quite dumb, but thanks to TWRP is how I figured it out.
What was happening was CWM was not able to even access my sdcard because I had encrypted it lol but luckily TWRP has an option to decrypt it & then access it so it got mounted & everything but for some reason I couldn't install any custom ROM from TWRP itself(tried 3 but none of them worked for me;CM,AOKP & Liquid). But now since that I know the problem, I'm just reinstalling the Rogers stock ROM & then going to try CWM again to flash a custom ROM.
Will update soon!

Crap!! The worst ever thing just happened! When I reinstalled the stock Rogers ROM & restarted the phone, the password screen before the phone boots is still there BUT now it's not the password that I've set before, I'm guessing the factory reset reset that as well!! Ahhhhhh!!!
Any ideas on the default S3 encryption password lol? I tried the obvious one(i.e; 12345, 1234, 000, 00000, 1111, 11111, samsung) But no luck! Omg! This is bad lol!
Please if anyone knows a work around this, let me know because this is messed up! :/
Phew, fixed it, lol, just another factory reset through the built in recovery mode fixed it! That was close! I was scared to death haha!
Alright so I finally managed to install CyanogenMod 10.1 on the Rogers I747M! Woohoo!
Why it wasn't installing earlier was because the CyanogenMod is made for d2att devices but the I747M is d2mtr so it was failing that test & wouldn't go any further. Fo rfuture reference for anyone I guess:
1. Make sure that your sdacrd is not encrypted before trying to install any ROM except when using Odin.
2. There is a line on CryanogenMod that needs to be deleted for it to be installed on any I747M device, open the CyanogenMod zip file & go to /META-INF/com/google/android/ & open the updater script using a text editing software (i.e. Notepad) & delete all the lines before the first mount line.
& with that CyanogenMod will work without a hitch on the I747M!
Thanks & cheers Cyanogen team!

The unable to mount usb storage bit has nothing to do with it - you can safely ignore that message (unless you are trying to mount some sort of usb storage to your phone, which most people aren't trying to do). As for the failed flash - perhaps redownload the zip? It could have been a bad download - I would start there anyway
