[Q] [HELP] First installation JikantaruROM - HTC Wildfire S

Hello!
I switched to "ON S-Unlocked" with the official procedure HTCDEV.
Now I would like to install the JIKANTARU, but I do not know how.
I made the partitions on the SD as indicated in the instructions, I downloaded the rom, I copied the sd and now?
Moreover, there is a patch in Italian?
Thank you!

you have to install ROM MANAGER first and install recovery.
after all backup your current rom from rom manager and then go in to recovery and install JikantaruROM.
Otherwise see this video
1. root your phone.
2. install rom manager
3. install CWM from rom manager while you backup your current rom it will ask for install it.
4. Put custom rom .zip file on your sd card.
5. Turn off your phone. Now, this is the important part.
Press the Power + Volume Down button simultaneously. (if you can't get it working, disable fastboot under settings)
You'll see the white bootloader screen and something will happen for about 5 seconds (don't worry, you haven't bricked your phone ). It's just a normal P76img.zip search. After that is done, select the "Recovery" option using the volume down button and then pressing the power button.
6. Wipe stuff
Congratulations, if you made it this far in one go
Easy stuff now.
Toggle using volume buttons and 'factory reset'.
Then 'wipe cache'.
Then go into advanced and 'wipe dalvik cache' and 'battery stats'.
7. Now select 'install zip from SD card'.
Then select 'choose zip'.
Then select the your zip file that you had placed on the root of your SD
Select 'YES' obviously
Let it do it's thing for about 4-5 minutes.
Once it is done okay.
Then, go back. Reboot. Have a heart in mouth moment and then watch the logo show up in a few minutes. You've done it successfully. Congratulations.

Hi, I install new official ROM on my Desire Z. And something is wrong. On screen is just red triangel. Phone is frozen. When i go to bootloader, nothings happend. Recovery doesnt work
Anybody help me...please.
I assume your phone is rooted. Here is what I can provide so far and hopefully help fix your situation
In order for this to work you have to have recovery working. I'm sure your phone has died by now or you have at least done a battery pull. If so try these steps
1. Make sure G2 is off and plugged in Via USB on your computer
2. Push and hold the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON while also pushing down and holding the POWER BUTTON. After a few seconds it should boot into bootloader
IF STEP NUMBER 1 DOES NO SUCCEED THEN THE NEXT STEPS WILL NOT APPLY AND SORRY THAT I HAVE NO OTHER KNOWLEDGE TO FIX
3. Using the volume rocker, select recovery and push the power button to accept
4. You should now be in recovery
5. Using the volume rocker or track pad, navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset, push track pad to select, track pad to accept "yes I want to want" (or something along those lines )
6. After data has been wiped navigate to Wipe Cache and do same as above
7. Navigate to storage and mounts, scroll down to mount storage and select
8. Your SD should now appear on your computer and freely view your SD card as normal.
9. Check to see if the Rom zip that you used is still on your SD card, if not. Drop on the root of your SD card. The root of your SD card is basically the location which when your SD first opens up on your computer that shows all the folders. Just drop it Anywhere
10. Back to the G2, unmount storage
11. Press back until you are back to the main Recovery page
12. Navigate to advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache
13. Back to Main Recovery Page
14. Select Install Zip
15. Select install zip from sd card
16. Select the Rom Zip, then Yes I want To Install
17. Back to Main recovery Page
18. Reboot System
19. Smile and say, "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY"

[Q] Help, stuck in reboot loop

Basically I was running stock 2.2 on my phone and did the usual steps to root it, unrevoked 3 ran all fine clockworkmod recovery flashed fine, booted up first time round fine. But then I flashed the most recent version of super user and now every time I try to boot it just gets to the HTC logo turns itself off and starts again.
I have tried backing up and restoring, wiping data, sd, cache, dalvik and nothign has helped so far. And I can run the RUU for my phone because it wont run unless I am booted into android, please help me ><
SERIOUSLY? You didn't even LOOK.. not going to mention about searching.. There are SO many threads that could have helped you.. but the most obvious one to me would be the big TROUBLESHOOTING one that is right on the top of everything.
Right, sorry I did quickly look but I panicked a little bit. I shall make sure I look more effectively in the future ^^
I would use ADB to flash the old super user apk, or to flash a new rom.
If you're STILL stuck:

BOOT PROBLEMS
"I just flashed a new ROM, and I get a bootloop.. Help!"*
"I just flashed a new ROM, and it just stays on the HTC screen"
"My phone randomly rebooted itself and now it won't boot"
*This is a fairly common problem, and is solved very easily.
Possible causes of bootloops/ phone stuck on HTC Screen:
- You are S-OFF, and you have not got the correct partition table that is required for the ROM.
- Some ROM's require an SD-EXT partition, you either have not got this or have not done it correctly.
- For whatever reason, the ROM did not install properly.
[1]To fix a bootloop/ stuck on HTC Screen:
[STEP1]- do a battery pull to power off the device (as this is the only way to do so when stuck in a bootloop)
[STEP2]- hold the VOLUME DOWN button and the POWER button to boot into the bootloader
[STEP3]- use the VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons to navigate, and POWER to select. Navigate to RECOVERY.
[STEP4]- select "mounts & storage" and then select the following options
[STEP5]- format boot
[STEP6]- format system
[STEP7]- format data
[STEP8]- format cache
[STEP9]- format sd-ext (IF YOU HAVE IT)
[IF YOU HAVE A BACKUP]
[STEP10a]- go back to the main menu, select "back up & restore", select "restore" and restore the latest working backup.
[IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BACKUP]
[STEP10b]- go back to the main menu, select "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard", and flash a ROM which you KNOW works. If you have none, try my failsafe: CyanogenMod
- reboot system now
#PHONE STILL DOESN'T BOOT#
[IF YOU USED YOUR BACKUP, OR A ROM THAT IS NOT CYANOGENMOD]
- Repeat the process, and flash cyanogenmod instead of restoring a backup or a different ROM.
[IF YOU ARE USING A RECOVERY THAT IS NOT CLOCKWORKMOD 2.5.0.7]
- Download Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7.zip and place it in your sdcard.
- boot into recovery, select "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard" and choose "recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.zip"
- repeat [1] from [STEP4] onwards

[1.3] Installing Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0
(Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0 zip and Gapps zip files required)
You will need to download Cyanogen Mod 7.1.0 and Gapps. Put these on your MicroSD card. Now you need to boot into 2nd init recovery. Do this by turning on your phone and pressing the Volume down button when you see the blue status LED light.
Once inside, use the volume up and down buttons to navigate, and the power button to select. Firstly, you can backup here by going to "Backup and restore" and selecting "Backup (all)". Then "go back" to the main menu and select "Wipe data/factory reset". Once this is successful, select "Wipe cache partition". Now you select "Install zip from sdcard" and install Cyanogen first by selecting the file. After this, install Gapps.
Your phone should now start with a red Motorola icon with a wasp stating cyanogen defy 7.1-11 with the LEDs flashing blue and then green before displaying a blue cyanogen mod logo with the swirling animation. This will then lead into setup, meaning your install was successful!
[Note: CM 7.1.0 comes with the latest version of 2nd init recovery]
[1.4] Soft unlocking your Defy
(bp_ptc file and Root Browser Lite required)
Firstly, you will want to backup your system again. To do this, turn off your phone and when it's on the first Motorola logo, press Volume down when the blue LED light flashes. Then select "Backup and restore" and select "Backup (all)".
Then boot back normally and download the bp_unlock file and extract the file and copy the file "bp_ptc" to your MicroSD card and ignore all the other folders and files. Now search for Root Browser Lite in the Market and open it and enable the root features when it asks by pressing "Yes" and allow SuperUser access. Press the Home button on the top left and select "SD card" and look for bp_ptc and highlight it by holding your finger on it and selecting "Copy". Now press on the Home button again at the top and select "Home" and scroll down to system > bin and press "Paste". Now go back to the previous parent folder by pressing the green arrow and select bootmenu > 2nd-init.
Here, look for the file init.mapphone_umts.rc and long press on it and select "Open in text editor" Scroll down until you get to "service usbd /system/bin/usbd" (about 10 medium flicks) and just after it, enter "service bp-ptc /system/bin/bp.ptc user root group root user root" on a line underneath it. Now press the "Save" button.
Bro i Reboot phone and in boot i Choose to install from SDcard with Gapps.zip AND when i see only logo in device, can you see in youtube video.
I hope to have understood
Download one of the latest CM7 nightlys, put out on your sd, go to custom recovery (vol down on let...). There, wipe data/cache and flash the zip. Reboot (if you get stuck for more than 10 min on the turning boot logo, press both volume buttons + power = hot reboot). If you can't boot the second time, just tell. Normally you don't have to do anything to softunlock in CM7.

I followed the inscrutions to soft unlock my defy, but there are a couple of typos in the post on hotukdeals (. instead of _ in the file name):
you need to edit the file to look like this:

service bp-ptc /system/bin/bp_ptc
user root
group root
service nvm-daemon /system/bin/nvm_daemon
user root
group radio
Thanks
thank you very much my problem is solved
but I have a question
how tu unlock all networks
Thanks labsin
Have you installed a recent nightly? I thought you didn't have to do anything else. I could be wrong (don't have a locket one).

I want to put on AOKP on my Nexus..

Is there more n00b friendly instructions than this to install AOKP? Sorry I am a former Blackberry owner, I am a little nervous but I am tech savvy. I just don't want to brick my phone..
My phone is rooted.. I have the latest AOKP and gapps from the AOKP site.
1. Make sure you're on the latest CWM
2. MAKE A NANDROID
3. wipe data/factory reset in recovery
4. flash ROM
5. flash Gapps
6. reboot
=
1. I have the latest ROM manager.
2. No idea what or how to use it... (I did a full backup with Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit, good enough?)
3. Is this done in the ROM manager, I think so, or when I am in bootloader mode maybe?
4. Flashing it I assume with ROM manager, pick the zip and voila..
5. No idea about this one. With ROM manager too?
6. Dah.. I think I can handle this step..
Appreciate any help.. remember n00b, never had an android and never did anything with my BB. N00b. Thanks!
Since you are already rooted.... I'll keep it simple. You can backup your ROM in ROM manager.
Boot to CWM
Wipe data (wipes cache too)
Go to advanced, wipe Dalvik
Flash AOKP
Flash GAPPS
Reboot
Flash kernel if you are using a modified one. If you flash a kernel after you boot, just wipe dalvik.

You don't have to flash through "Rom Manager" its much easier in ClockworkMod Recovery (assuming you have it installed, check at the top of Rom Manger to see if you have the latest recovery). To get there, you just have to hold down "Power + Volume Up + Volume Down," when you're there, you can move up and down with your volume up/down buttons and press "enter" with the power button. From there you can create a backup (backup and restore --> backup), wipe data/cache/dalvik (wipe data/factory reset), and flash your Rom/Gapps (install zip from sdcard --> choose zip from sdcard --> download --> find your rom/gapps). You should reboot after that, and it'll be set.
Ok that's cool..
few questions.. boot to CWM is that the recovery manager on my phone? or Do you mean select in ROM manager "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
Go to advanced, wipe Dalvik, I expect that is an option when phone is booted. I don't see that in ROM manager.
Flash Kernel? Now I'm kinda confused. I thought AOKP has the kernel, am I using a modified one? Uh, I just unlocked and rooted this with GNR Toolkit nothing else.
Another question I am curious in ROM manager, where do these rom backups go? Should I not put those on my pc hd somewhere safe?

You must have flashed ClockwordMod Recovery already... at the top in the Rom Manager application where it says Flash ClockwordMod Recovery, it should have something saying "Current Recovery: 5.5.0.4" and "Latest Recovery 5.5.0.4." Make sure your current and latest match up. If they do, then you already have CWM installed. Then you can boot into it from the instructions I provided in my post above (turn off phone, hold down power + volume up + volume down).
AOKP has a kernel, you can choose to download and flash a separate kernel if you want.
The rom backups go to your virtual SD card, and will not get wiped when you do a data wipe, so they are secure (i.e. you don't have to put them on your computer if you don't want to).
anton that makes sense mostly but..
"and flash your Rom/Gapps (install zip from sdcard --> choose zip from sdcard --> download --> find your rom/gapps). You should reboot after that, and it'll be set."
If I
"From there you can create a backup (backup and restore --> backup), wipe data/cache/dalvik (wipe data/factory reset)"
Wouldn't that mean there would be nothing on the SD card to flash with?

No. Wiping data/cache/dalvik does not touch SD Card contents.

Yes, CWM is the recovery. Flashing CWM only flashes it to your phone, you still have to boot into it.
Don't wipe or anything from Rom Manger, that's an option that I don't recommend. From Rom Manager you can boot to CWM, do that and do the above I posted. You should be fine.
Just remember, do a factory reset, wipe dalvik, flash new ROM, then flash GAPPS. After that you are good. First boot will take some time.
You need to format /system too. It's under Mounts and storage.

Ok this is what you need to do.
Step 1: Open ROM Manager and install CMR (first option). You need to make sure you select the correct version of your phone (verizon is CMDA all others are GSM, I think). After it is finished installing proceed to step 2.
Step 2: In ROM Manager select "Reboot into Recovery". It will reboot and you will see the Google splash screen then a black page with blue text. If you see this proceed to step 3.
Step 3: use the volume keys to navigate to the option "Backup and Restore". When you have highlighted this option use the power button to select it. You will then a select "backup". Let it do its thing (will take a few minuets). When its done it will return you to the first screen then continue to step 4.
Step 4: Select "wipe data/factory reset". You will be taken to a screen with a bunch of "no"s and one "yes" if you are sure you want to wipe then select "yes" and let it do its thing. When its done it will return you to the main menu. Proceed to step 5.
Step 5: Select "install zip from sdcard". Select "choose zip from sdcard". Browse the ROM file. Select it and you will be at the no no no... yes screen. Select "yes" and let it do its thing. When its done you will be taken to the screen that says "choose zip from sdcard". Select that option again and browse to the gapps file. Flash it like the ROM. When you are done it will take you to the "choose zip from sdcard" screen. From there select "*****Go Back*****" then Select the first option "reboot system now". Your phone will now reboot. Note that it will take a lot longer than usual.
Also note that navigating CMR is a pia because the volume keys are jumpy.
Enjoy...

1. In Rom Manager, select back up and restore. This creates an exact back up of what your phone has on it and the settings.
2. In Rom Manager, select reboot in recovery. Using the volume rocker to move to wipe/data factory reset. Select option with power button. When that is complete, select install zip from sd card. Select the AOKP Rome file and flash it. Select install rom from sd card a second time and flash the Gapps (google app pack). The reboot phone.
Wiping dalvik is little redundant IMO, most custom Roms are including scripts to wipe automatically.
Since you did a factory reset (a must when changing Roms), you will need to set your phone back up.
You will leave your back up of your sd card as this is the only way you can restore via Rom Manager.
When you flash the rom, it will come with the kernel. Some prefer different kernels and will flash those as well. I have used kernels by Heyitslou since my Incredible days and flashed his V3 defiant with AOKP. It can be found on Rootzwiki.
Ok guys, many thanks. I think I got enough info.
@mentose457 I got the ROM manager installed and under CWM recovery the current and latest do match up. Do I still need to do that?
That is what I was looking for a n00b guide. Hehehe! Thanks everyone I will study those instruction and try this out.
Appreciate your help and patience guys..

I don't see anything in ROM Manager that specifically says install CMR (first option). First option is Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and it has a latest and current ...5.5.0.2
When I unlocked and rooted I had installed ROM Manager etc and I see a current and latest... they are the same... blah blah blah 5.5.0.2. Do I still need to do this step?

No, if current and latest are the same, then you're fine and you can move on to the next step.
Errm.. I used ROM Manager I selected Backup rom, i see the android guy and see files backing up. Which turns out to be the same as your step 2 and 3. LOL! hopefully multiple backups dont hurt. LOL I'm currently finishing step 3 I guess. Next is wipe etc.
No offense to guy who did rom, but a Pink unicorn with rainbow hair.... err
No offense but generally speaking a macho guy like me hopes nobody will see a pink unicorn on his android phone. Haha!
Thanks guys, I am restoring my apps now and I think I am good. Really appreciate your help! Can't wait to try this ROM out!

A lot of people report problems restoring Apps+Data using Titanium Backup, so I recommend only restoring the App part and not the Data part if you want to have the least amount of FCs. Unless you're restoring from market... then disregard this post. =P

How to Install a Custom ROM on Galaxy Grand:
The procedure of installing a custom ROM using ClockworkMod Recovery is almost the same for all Android phones. You just have to follow a few steps and it is done!
All custom ROMs come in zip and have md5 checksum signature that tells your device that it was downloaded successfully and does not miss anything. So download the ROM file in zip and copy it to you phone, preferably to the external SD card.
If you have downloaded an AOSP or CyanogenMod based custom ROM, you’ll also have to install the Google apps after flashing the ROM. Download the latest Google Apps zip package to install via CWM here. Copy this file to your phone too.
Now boot your phone into recovery mode. Here is the method: press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time till the Samsung logo with device name blinks for 2 times. Then release the Power key while keeping other keys pressed till you see the recovery menu with “ClockwrokMod Recovery” written on the top. In Recovery mode, use the volume keys to scroll and the power key to select options.
Important: Go to “backup and restore” option and backup your current ROM to the external SD card.
When backup is complete, go back to main menu and “wipe data/factory reset”.
Then go to “advanced” and “wipe dalvik cache”.
Go back and select “mounts and storage” and “format system”.
Return to main menu and select “install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sdcard”, navigate to the ROM zip file and select it.
When the ROM is installed, also install the Google apps zip package, if applicable, using Step 8.
Finally, return to main menu and select “reboot system now”.

I fixed the problem actually. I restored my backup and redownloaded it as you said. And voila. Also Land scape does not work properly.
