I guess I'm just having a misunderstanding and any help is greatly appreciated.
So the stock DPI setting is 240, I dropped mine down to 190 or so give or take, and obviously that causes certain apps to not even appear on the market. Been using other places just to get apk files so they obviously work fine. I was under the impression that just changing back to 240dpi along with clearing market cache and resetting phone would re-allow me to see certain apps that aren't showing. I must be doing it wrong because this definitely isn't working for me lol
I've seen on other phones Market compatibility fixes to trick the market into thinking we have the stock DPI set. Do we have anything for our E4GT's that will achieve this trick.
I thought I wouldn't have a problem with just going back on fourth but showing off the phone and having to spend 2 minutes to go back and change settings just to download an app is kind of a hassle

I've gone through a bunch of densities to find what I like, eventually settled on 206 as our screen is 206ppi. Quite happy with it.
I had to clear paly store cache/data, google framework cache/data and reboot. Worked for me.

So i've been wanting to install a couple apps lately and either i do not find them in the market or if I go through the web, i see that it is not compatible with my device.
I am running the latest version of MIUI (2.2.3 i think).
I've done some research and it seems that it is because of some values in the build.prop file.
I've changed the lcd_density from 240 to 200 but that did not help.
There is also the ro.build.description and the ro.build.fingerprint, but in this case i have no clue what to put in there.
I am sure i am not the only one.
What should i do?

But, to help just a bit ... Which apps are those you want to install? What is your device (G2 or DZ)? In which country are you located and who is yours cell provider? Some apps are available only in US and not available outside, some are available only for customers of some specific carrier. Were you able to install these apps before you installed this last ROM? If yes, what was the rom you used before?

I had the same problem. In order to view certain apps that weren't available I had to change screen density back to her original 240 reboot, clear market data, sign back into market and then find the "incompatible apps" when the market is started it saves configurations such as density etc. after restarting market with the correct g2 density you can change back to a previous density setting and the market should still give you the apps that were once not available.
That is what fixed it for me, you may be experiencing something different.

As far as the other questions, i was trying to add the WD 2GO app. I also wanted to try the chrome beta today.
As far as the density, it was 240 all the time. I actually put it to 200 but did not help. I will put it back to 240 and see what happens.

You need to put it back to 240 then wipe cache and info from the market, then reboot......you should get everything back

Nope. Been trying everything and it does not work.
LCD_density is back to 240 (it was originally 240 then i moved it to 200)
Cleared cache and even cleared cache of google framework.
This is annoying

Is there any real way to get the Play Store to show all apps while using a non-standard DPI (i.e. not 240 or 160)? I've researched this pretty extensively, and seen purported fixes, but none seem to work. Resetting the DPI and rebooting and clearing the app data every time I want to download an app or check for updates is driving me insane. And at 240 this screen is comically huge, and at 160 impossibly small (I can't even get the status bar to pull down).

I searched quite a bit before posting this, and tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582998 and another one similar to it, but neither worked.
Glad it worked for you, also for the notifications pull down, I remember when I was on 160 dpi, I used adw and go launcher both of those launchers have swipe actions. So as long as you swipe down on the homescreen it will pull your notifications down for you.
For anyone else reading this, the aforementioned fix failed to work after a few days, however, going into Settings->Apps->Google Play Store and clearing the app's cache/data then rebooting seems to have fixed it again.
Apparently the fix is baked into the app, but with time it "learns" I have a different DPI and starts restricting things again, which is why you have to erase its data periodically.

The modded Play Store allows app compatibilty on density changed handsets ( using dpi's other than 160 & 240 dpi density ), although the one in post #3 here is the latest version modded while the one in the link I provided is 3.5.15, GoogleServicesFramework allows Play Store app to stay compatible forcing android not to revert back to standard dpi density the Play Store requires!...

I haven't messed with anything other than 160 for this exact problem. I'm surprised there isn't any sort of spoof. Going lower is very tempting but I couldn't deal with it being broken I reboot for enough other reasons (despite it still being quick on aokp m5)

Now I get limited results in the Google Market.

Try the third or fourth one.
Assuming you modified it via the build.prop, and the above fixes don't work for you, you'll need to restore the resolution back to what it was in the build.prop. Then clear the Google Play Store data and cache, and reboot. It will work for you after you start Google Play Store again.
That is one of the problems I faced on my G2, and I gave up using a different resolution for this very reason.
I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2. I recently rooted it and installed the latest CM10 nightly. I also have Clockwork Recovery Mod v6 installed.
When I installed CM10, I did a complete wipe, format, etc. I flashed the latest gapps for JB (20121011-signed). I noticed right away that certain apps on the market are now saying "not compatible with your device" (Foursquare, Walmart, Google Goggles, and a few others).
Someone suggested changing my DPI. I switched ro.sf.lcd_density from 240 to 320 (and also tried 160 and 220). Rebooted. Didn't work. Still got the incompatible notice. I really don't think it's a DPI issue anymore. But are there other common DPIs that I should try? What's default for the S2?
I downloaded the Amazon AppStore and it allowed me to "download" these apps, but it would FAIL when it went to "install" them. They wouldn't simply error out during the install with "Application Not Installed" or something generic like that. This makes me think there's some setting on my phone that's wrong, and not necessarily just a problem with the app store.
Any other suggestions? It really seems odd to me that I'd "start from scratch" and get these incompatible notices from Google Play store. Can anyone else install or run these apps?
The incompatible notice is usually dpi-related. Try changing your dpi to 240 (the default) and then clearing the data on the play store. Reboot, open the play store and agree to the prompts. Exit again, and wait ten minutes. That usually clears it up for me.

I appreciate the help, but it didn't seem to work. I did all the steps exactly, and the apps still have incompatible notices.
When you say "Exit again" did you mean simply exit the Google Play store app? After opened the play store, agreed to the prompt, and then hit the home button. Waited 10 minutes and didn't seem to help.

This is how I fix it:
1 - adjust dpi back to 240 (stock for this phone)
2 - In settings/app manager, find Google play store & Google framework services
3 - force stop, wipe data & wipe cache
4 - same for both
5 - now you go to the settings/accounts and you need 2 Google accounts, cause you have to actually remove your main Google account, then re-add it
6 - reboot
If this doesn't fix, then the app is either not compatible with this device or something else is causing the issue..

I'm running Jellybomb, didn't have the problem in the past: just started recently.
Almost everything I try to get says "Your device is not compatible with this version." Hell, I can't even get most apps to even show up on a search in the Play Store; I actually have to use a hyperlink to even get them to show up. (Doesn't matter, free or paid, Btw)
Anyone experienced this, or know a fix?

what DPI are you running at? i ran into a similar problem on one of the tablet note 2 roms, and the only way i found to fix it was to use Xposed and resize play store to 320 dpi and a lower res.
WI'll definitely give that a shot. (I honestly need to check the DPI...I'd bet it's not 240 or 320, and probably is the issue.)
Edit: Actually tried both; 240 fixed it to where I could at least search for everything, but still only install some; 320 fixed it completely.
