Should I buy the One V? - HTC One V

Hello HTC One V users! I have a few questions to ask and I would really appreciate it if you answered!
1) Should I get the HTC One V or should I not? (Please Include Why)
2) What are the Pros and Cons (Good and Bad Points) of this phone?
3) Is the peformance ok or is it laggy? What games can you play on it?
4) Is the battery life bad? Can it get through a full days usage?
Thanks in advance!!!
I'm new to XDA!
My current phone is the Xperia X8, which is not the best phone.

Im too with this. Currently i have a desire hd which is similiar in hardware to the one v. But i need more battery and i want to try out a smaller screen. Want to hear some opinions too. Cheers

You cannot get more than 3 days on Android no matter what phone you have. It really depends on how you use your phone, how large the battery is (One V has 1500 mAh - which is a standard battery).
You can even play Temple run without suttering or lag on the One V. I have only pros for this little phone. It is the best phone at its price range and don't forget that cpu is underclocked at 1ghz (it should be 1.4). That's how Htc decided to make the cpu clock. Installing kernel Titanium (when the posibility of overclocking will permit) will give you free hands to overclock the cpu up to 2ghz. So 2ghz with 512mb ram i think it sounds good enough to run smooth even the greatest memory hog app.
At this price range the only good phone worth looking at is Galaxy S Plus, or Evo 3d. I don't like the casing of Galaxy S Plus and the display is crappier than on One V. And Evo 3D is very big, which I don't like.
The best idea is to go to a showroom and see One V live.

so i got a desire hd now, and its a really good phone. Even the hardware is particualary better than one v. I got bored of my desire hd and the one v looks very good(my friend has a legend and i think it is not a bad phone). The thing is i only want to switching for the display, battery and the design. Is this worth?

Htc wildfire s or Samsung galaxy gio?

Hey guys, I come from LG optimus one forum and I own one and I come in peace lol
I'm planning to change my phone to these two wildfire s or gio cos I'm sick of multitouch problem and touchbug issues of O1 and remember, my point of changing my phone is not to upgrade my phone to a high end devices.
Which do you think is better?

Try going to a review site then, this forum is dedicated to the Wildfire S; you'll get nothing but biased opinions (either people are happy with their phone or are not satisfied with its performance; they *will* reflect that in their reactions here)
Go for the Wildfire S.
+ camera light
+ 512MB internal memory
+ ambient light sensor
+ htc sense
+ last but not least: much better haptics due to the aluminium frame
- 600 Mhz
I needed a small Android phone and so I just bought it after comparing the Gio, the Ace and the Wildfire S in a Store. And: I own a Galaxy S and a Galaxy Tab, so no HTC fan boy here.
Please excuse my bad english.

I aso pondered between the two, but after reading a cpouple of reviews and seeing both tinkering with both phones in a store I went for the WS. I do admit, I am a HTC fan though. However, after 1 week I am pretty happy with it. I am using it primarily as a phone, no data or e-mail on it. Battery life is more than decent, it takes decent pictures as well.

Gotta say, that im a bit jeleaus at my GF for having a Wildfire S. It's a decent phone! Go 4 it, you won't regret it.

All I can say is: It's awesome!!!
Big step up from wilfire

I'm kinda looking for the end-users feel on the phone cause HTC doesn't put that kinda stuff on their website.

I haven't had a single problem with it
And as it is a very popular phone, there is a lot of support in the way of custom ROMs so you're never short of choice (Although CyanogenMod is definitely the best)!
A little cautious note though...
There are well spread report of the Desire's mainboard failing because of overheat...
There's a thread here in XDA about that...
At the moment the desire is a pretty good phone. Most custom roms for this phone. But if you want something worth buying check out the Samsung galaxy s2. Just look around for a good deal!
My friend got the s2 and I don't like it at all. Too light.

Desire has been great for me for the last year or so.
But that's the point. It's old now, why would you get a phone that's so old ?
I still have mine because I don't see a clear upgrade path, yet. I'm waiting for a decent multi core handset to come along, hopefully with some fancy bells and whistles attached and perhaps hard qwerty.
As soon as these requirements are made I'm off !
I do hope you're able to buy for super rock bottom discount prices or you're being done.
I think that a Desire S is more recommended.
Sense 2.1, 768 Ram, 1Gb rom, aluminium unibody, gorilla glass, etc.
But a multi core phone is the best upgrade...
I would say a Desire S is certainly a better choice... All the good features of the Desire, with a little more processing power, more RAM and more internal storage...
Desire has the limited internal storage problem!!
Desire
Hi I would definitely not buy desire now.
Don`t get me wrong I own a desire and it is a great phone, but it is simply outdated (mainly because of the lack of memory).
Update to 2.3.3 helped a little bit with the memory issue, but when buying now, look for something which has more memory in it.
yes if you get one cheap the go for it - don't get tied into stupid contract from carrier or similar.
Phones really need mobile data rates to improve in speed and consistency before I seriously invest any more money. Everything seems to be about games and video that drain batteries too fast.
Okay guys thanks for your help! Gonna get a sensation instead!
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Very nice choice that one, but I have to say someone in work has got the SGS2 and Oh my god that thing is fast and also will not suffer like all the HTC phones that have rubbish memory built in, but saying that I have had my desire for over a year and love it to bits with the custom roms and partion on my sd card for more memory.
But going from the wildfire to the sensation should be huge !!! hope you enjoy it
I have mine a year now and I can honestly say It is by far the best phone Ive ever had
However as someone else mentioned it is getting on a bit now
I will be changing up soon , probably around xmas
Liking the look of the MIUI phone if I can get my hands on one
Depends on what you want to do with the phone. The Desire is still a good phone, and depending on your needs, may fit the bill. If it is much cheaper than then the Desire S, for example, then it may be a good choice.
If you're into gaming then you'll probably want to go dual-core. Maybe wait for the Nexus 3 (or prime, or whatever it's called) annd hope for a discount on other phones.
Do it. But it has limited storage internal. So think about that first

[Q] if someone can help me decide

First of all, I don't know if I've started the thread in the right place....if I haven't...my apologise...
Hi guys, I'm in a dilemma.
1) some one's selling his Desire (6 month warranty left, hasn't been opened yet, void stickers intact, good condition overall) for about Rs. 12.5K (approx $ 250)
2) I also have my eyes on Sony ericsson Live with walkman (I am a music lover) (around the same price)
Should i get a used Desire or a Brand new SE.... I know both the phones are world apart....
i can't seem to find a clear winner in low specced new phone v/s Great specced old phone..
Thx guys.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Desire gives you the flexibility of making your custom ROM and customize based on your needs. I always vote for Desire. Have the Desire to buy Desire.
thx guys for all ur help. I finally own a HTC Desire now. however I find the battery drains very fast.....
1) in some threads they say, turn off phone and charge for 8 hrs..then turn it on 2hrs etc.. does that trick work.
2) some forums say that using Juice defender, likewise apps drains ur battery....should apps like those be kept running in ur phone...YES or NO.
3) I implemented few things i found here and there to improve the battery life...screen brightness etc (mentioned at may sites).....do u guys want to share some ideas for the same?
The battery saving roms are mostly AOSP roms. If you are rooted or planning on rooting, those roms are worth checking out. You can also go and undervolt using custom kernels but I'm not sure how well that is going to work with you since it seems that you'll use your device as a music player and that usually require a bit more work for the processor.
Sent from HTC Desire via XDA App
There's a How To in General that delves deeply into the recalibration of the battery. Which you do depends on whether you have root (you can clear the battery stats) or not. If not the first post may help you.

One X vs GS3?

Hi at all! some day ago i broke my HD2 so i search for a new smartphone! my choise is on one X and Gs3 I know that for now the one X with stock rom have a worse ottimization (like with animated wallpaper). so I ask you what's the best phone in this area,if one have the sotck rom or some other from XDA:
battery
performance
with the new rom form XDA one X is better that GS3 or GS3 continue at be the best phone for performance and battery?
I had a look at a S3 the other in day in store and I was quite impressed but at the same time not disappointed with my choice of the HOX.
I do like the sense launcher and some time soon I am going to flash a custom rom to speed things along but from what I've read and seen both phones are nearly identical performance wise.
If you are into flashing custom roms and things I would go with the S3 as they have already released the source code for it while where stuck over here trying to get S-off
thanks so with the new rom you have noted some improvement in the battery life? beacause for now this is the real difference between one X e SG3 for me i Have fear that the one X have a small battery
From a pure hardware/features standpoint, the GS3 is a beast.
Personally, I like the way the HOX looks/feels, though and I'm a sucker for the contact integration of the social networks. Touchwiz has a long way to go before it's that refined.
but for the daily use the one X have some lag with the custom rom? I see in a lot of review a bug with animated wallpaper and the stock browser is terrible with flash respect the one s and Gs3 :/
so with the new updates or custom rom this problem are solved?
The HOX is a better phone but the GS is a better made phone, I love the HOX and the curved look, and sense is awesome, I must have installed all other launchers and ended up back with sense.
The GS is a little too..... simple, or presice, the HOX is a Tegra 3 Daddy, dont worr about the battery as my model and if you buy one yours will be fine and last 2 days easy. Its eraly SN versions having issues not new ones.

sorry, but I don't understend the phrase "The HOX is a better phone but the GS is a better made phone". I want said that SG3 is better of HOx?
I'm worry about battery and lag, beacause in a lot of review HOX have some lag and a lot of people said that is not optimized

sorry, but this is a very big forum,so here I can have a lor of opinion
I saw the video. My conclusion is that with the new update and custom rom in daily use the difference between GS3 and HOX in nearly zero, right?
But I don't understand how much is big the difference in the game. with one X there is some game that go slow?like Mass effect or some other new games?
Go for the S3, OneX is for **** ....

HOX: better screen, camera & design.
SGS3: unlocked bootloader, removable battery, sdcard slot.
If you can't make a decision from that simple summary then it doesn't matter, you'd be happy with either.

I dont like the samsung TouchWiz interface. HTC Sense is way better in my opinion.
I had HTC Inc S, then got the SGS2, wasnt really happy with it, mainly the interface, so got the ONE X and love it.
Its fast and battery lasts well, I get 2 days of average use before recharge. Allthough when I use it as a Wifi hotspot for 6 hours will only last me 1 day.
in my honest opinion
I have my HOX now for the past month and I am satisfied...
Just satisfied as it delivers where it should as in Graphics, Performance, UI, Integration and sleekness, however the only major downfall I would say of the HOX is the Battery and not having a removable SD card.
Battery life too short and not being able to expand the memory is a downfall
So with only those 2 aspects in mind I would change to a GS3
Otherwise I am happy with my HOX

Is the HTC One V worth getting?

Hi guys and girls
I lost access to my old XDA account but I decided to make a new one so here I am.
I used to be very active in the HTC Wildfire section but my contract with Three ran out so it's time for upgrading my device and I have chosen to go with a Virgin Mobile contract that includes the HTC One V Device.
So what I am basically asking is after viewing some reviews for myself I would like to know the following...
1) Is the HTC One V a smooth, fast and reliable device with it's stock ROM?
2) Is the device up to standards for example is it as good as you thought it would be?
3) Do you personally think that the HTC One V is better than the HTC Wildfire and if so why?
Also I have seen some videos on YouTube and some people were saying that the device has a battery that cannot be detached and others were showing the device with a detachable battery so are there two different versions of the same phone? :S
Thanks guys

1) Yes mine is very quick even with the stock rom. I've since rooted it and installed CM9 but that was not because of performance/reliability problems stock but rather because I wanted more options available to me
2) Mine is so much better than I thought. It just works. Of course I came from an Optimus V so it's definitely a big improvement.
3) Everything I've heard says this thing beats the Wildfire out of the water!
I should note that the One V (among other phones) is 20% off at virginmobileusa.com right now. I paid full boat for mine now I wish I had waited a few weeks! Oh well no complaints.
Mine does NOT have a detachable battery but if you hold the power button down for ten seconds it forces it to power off.
Yes,
I recently moved from a desire,.
The Desire is very similar in specs to the One V, but:
* much brighter screen
* no messing with data2sd, or other scripts. Given the nand size of the V I reinstalled all the same 92 apps as my desire, room for way more. And way faster and smoother as everything is on the nand. I believe this will apply to you as well coming from the wildfire.
*having the latest and greatest is awesome. (ics and sense 4.0) On my desire I had all the "smooth rosie" tweaks I could find to flatten 3d effects etc. Speed was more important to me. Because of this I do NOT mind that we are missing 3d effects that the S and X have.
Make the move Dude, you'll Love this phone if you liked the wildfire.

I just got it last friday and I love it.
Better than My nexus S and that lame zte avail.
I understand you are not first to an android phone. So to answer your 3rd question first - Wildfire is NOT a competition for One V (in all regards). And question 2, yes it is better than what I thought it would be. and finally to question 1. It will surely depend on what you intend to do with the phone. If you are looking to buy an everyday phone, One V will be a good option (I am on stock ROM)
