HTC Droid Incredible 2 - Verizon (UNLOCKED) - problems updating android system. - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hello everyone I bought one of these phones, I am a newbie here so any information about this problem I am having will be greatly apreciated. I am a total newbie as to the OS and the nature of android phones so please be patient with your explanations and no jargon or abrevs for now until i learn
Basically when i try to update the android system it gives me a message saying Verizon wireless unavailable and doesnt give me any other options to download or update via my current wireless connection at home.
I am currently at 2.3.4 and with to update to higher (ice cream sandwich if possible)
Please, anyone tell me what I need to do.
The seller pointed me in this direction and said I would find the answers here , something about the OS.
What do I do?

Well, you're not gonna get any updated firmware which is what requesting an update would be looking for. The reason is there hasn't been an update released yet.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk 2

But hopefully it will come soon! If you are unlocked, you should check out some other threads for almost fully functional ICS ROMs.
Sent from my Droid.

Thanks guys for your replies.
I will look further into the ICS ROMS as suggested.
Cheers!

Total newcomer wanting to install a new ROM on a straight out of box Orange UK Hero.

Hi guys,
This is my first post so please forgive my ignorance. I have just received a brand new HTC Hero from Orange UK as a replacement for my previous Hero that went faulty.
Anyway, I really want to install the Hero 2.1 ROM. However I have only ever messed around with OS changes when I used to install leaked updates to my BlackBerry.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a comprehensive guide to doing everything I need to do to install Hero 2.1 ROM or explain it to me?
Thank you all for any help that you can offer.
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/297764/the-how-to-guide/
keep in mind that the 2.1 roms available are not fully functional yet. if you want something stable with everything working as intended go for mcr3.0, but that shouldn't stop you from testing new roms! just a note.
double post
Thanks for the link. I'm a pretty big idiot when it comes to this stuff but I'm always willing to give it a shot.
Is there much difference between MoDaCo 3.0 and the 2.1 ROM? I'm just looking for something that is a bit faster or more up to date than a 1.5 Orange UK OS.
For faster than stock, I would suggest modaco 3.0, since 2.1 will be on the way in the new year, and it isn't quite ready for everyday use yet.
But its up to you. Just don't go installing any rru updates if you want to root or install a custom ROM in future.
check out changelog of each of their final releases..and u'll wats added to them ..and wats still not working
RRU updates?

if you make that a question you might get an answer.
if you want speed go for modaco. the 2.1 roms tend to lag here and there, and as i said are not suitable for daily use. they work great for an early preview, but that's it.
Ahh OK sorry to keep on asking what are probably inane questions. I'm guessing since nobody has mentioned RRUs with MoCaDo, that they aren't involved.
I'll see how that ROM goes, hoping it uses HTC Sense UI as I really like the look of it but it's not essential.
I think I have to update the Radio for the MoCaDo update.
I'll probably post again if the change doesn't go well or I can't do it LOL
Thanks again guys.

First of all, Welcome to XDA I'd be glad to help you with your phone, Im presuming you want to run Android on your TouchPro2. to get the Android Market you must load Android on your phone.
Here is the TouchPro2 forum with information on Android Development, if youre new to flashing phones and the like I can help or maybe your friend that suggested this site can help you. here is a thread with info on it.
If you need any help private message me or reply in this thread.

[Q] Acer neotouch P300 help

Hi guys,
i'm new in the smartphones world i searched but can't find an answer to my question.
I would like to install android on my P300 coz wm6.5 sucks or also wp7 che someone help me? Does someone know if exist a different Rom ecc?
Thanks
It IS possible, as the hardware is identical to the GeeksPhone One and the Highscreen Zeus. I did once have the GeeksPhone One ROM running on my P300, but Acer released an update that added a OS version check and now RUT just tells me the Android ROM is the wrong OS for the phone.
If you can get past that lock, you can install the GeeksPhone One ROM fine with RUT. I didn't bother investigating further as I had other things to do...

There is no guide, I never said there was. Sorry, I abandoned the P300 ages ago and brought a recent model Android native device.
All I said was that the device is the same hardware as the Geeksphone and the Highscreen devices, and that Android USED to install it before Acer set the security bit. You'll have to research yourself to see if anyone has bothered to crack it or not.
ok thanks man, iasked only because u said u had a p300 running android with that procedure

[Q] Update Unbranded DHD to 2.3.5

Hi all.
I wonder if I could get a little help? I am reading around the forum and am a little overcome with all of the information - not too mention Android jargon. There is a lot I don't understand and so am forced to ask.
Simple really; I have a Desire HD and it is unbranded. A friend of mine rooted the phone when it had Orange splash screen etc, and is now running 2.3.3 with sense 2.1 on a Vodafone contract.
I would like to install 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 but am baffled trying to even find it. Htc customer service said I would have to reinstall the Orange ROM to get an OTA update, which is the last thing I want to do. Can anybody point me at this update or help at all?
Forgive me being a bit of a noob, but I am sure we all were at some point.
All advice and guidance gratefully accepted

[Q] upgrade htc desire Z form android 2.3.3 to....

hi gurus,
i'm a new user in this forum. Many friends, tell me that this is the best forum for mobile device.
I've a HTC desire Z with android version 2.3.3. I would change this version with other version of androi. I read that has been released a 4.0 beta version.
Where i can download this file from this forum? and where i can download 2.3.6 version?
can you help me?
thanks
Best regards
Gianni
Hello and welcome to XDA!
First of all, you need to learn how to root your phone. This can be a tricky process, but you will find many helpful people here.
After you do that, you can install different Android versions on your phone, also called ROMs.
The 4.0 version of Android, known as Ice Cream Sandwich, is currently in Alpha stage, so you might want to wait a few weeks/months until it gets more stable. Until then, you can try many of the ROMs in the Android Development section.
I'll come back with some links to tutorials
Edit: As promised, here are the two guides which I consider are easy enough for a newbie to consider:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928160
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833965
I would recommend thoroughly reading the guides, making sure you understand *everything* and informing yourself about ADB and rooting first, though. Remember, Google is your friend.
The reason is that if you mistake something, you might end up with a nice HTC-branded paperweight. But follow the steps as written and read beforehand about what you are doing, and you'll be a-OK.
