Is there any fix for new tmobile micro sim cards because data wont work on them - HTC One X

Data on newer tmobile micro sim cards in US will not work with international htc one x this is a fact now its impossible to manuelly or automaticly set up apn, phone refuses to recognize new micro sim and even when you fill all fields in apn settings and save phone itself just reset everything and delete new apn and message is there is no sim card, however calls and sms works but data no,i tryed even various apps from market like apn global and others its the same its just not possible,i found out only that older tmobile sim cards they call them non gba sim card will work, those are one withouth pictures of people painted so just plain white with pink tmobile letters and they needs to have number 50.01.im using different carrier then tmobile i have data normaly but im trying to sell this phone and i get 2 deals cancelled because of this is there any different solution then chasing old tmobile cards and they are pretty rare now.

There probably won't be a fix coming anytime soon. I'm one of the unfortunate ones without a old micro sim card. However, you could first talk to customer service online, and let them know this issue you're having. (Make sure they put a note on file based on the chat stating that the micro sim card you're looking for is a 50.01 not a 50.05 or any newer.) Then call customer service and tell them that you spoke to a customer rep online and please check the note on file regard sending out a correct replacement micro sim card. I believe they think that a 50.05 micro sim card is also a non gba sim card. I'm hoping the replacement micro sim card arriving next week would be the correct one. If not, cut your old sim card into micro sim size and use it on your One X.

Im not having problems im simple mobile user,i was selling one x and that the reason im asking because data wont work, but i sold the phone anyway that issue with tmobile its because 4G data

My newer micro sim did not allow me to save the Tmobile apn . Switched it to my wife's older sim that I cut down to a micro for her iphone. Entered the T-Mobile APN hit the save button and of course it worked. I was then surprised when I switched my sim back in and it still worked. Had a few 50.01 SIMS ready but did not have to cut any down and call T-Mobile to switch them.

SIM card Question with Used SX66

Hi all. I just sold my used Cingular branded SX66 and all of its accessories on ebay. I did not include a SIM card. The buyer received it today and says the phone won't work and would I please send him the original SIM card. Does anybody do that...send their SIM card along in a sale? Even if I am not using that old SIM card anymore, doesn't it have my phone # info on it. And won't that be useless to him anyhow? I directed him to get a SIM card at a ATT retail store with his account info on it and he would be able to start making calls. Am I confused here about SIM cards?
Thanks
well, of course the "phone" won't work without a sim card.
Don't send your sim card along, either he's trying to fool you or he is stupid!!!
the device itself should work just fine without a sim, but calls, sms, mms and other network services can't work, because the sim is your connection to your provider, it gives your phone a tel number and let's your provider charge you.
as i am not quite sure, whether you or the buyer were aware of that, i hope you carefully deleted all your personal data from the device, as there is the possibility that your customer wants to steal personal data from you along with your sim card, or fool you financially, because WITH YOUR SIM HE MAKES CALLS AND YOU ARE BILLED!!!
Hmpph, Was this your listing?

Anyway, if you didn't specify that you would include an SIM, you don't have to.

SIM card question.

My Rhodium/ At&t tilt 2 comes in tomorrow (yay!)
I ordered it using another upgrade on our family plan. I have AT&T but the phone is coming shipped with a new sim card. If I use the sim card I have now on it will that affect anything with the phone?
No it shouldn't unless your sim card that you want to put in is not on a contract .
Have fun with your new device.
Oh okay. Thank you.
Someone had told me that the newer sim cards where needed to access faster data connections or something.
False information I guess?
Nah, not false. Newer SIM cards come in different categories, and offer faster speeds. But, there's no guarantee that the SIM card AT&T is sending you will be one of those SIM cards. If it has less space, like 2 GB (which I'm assuming it will have), and you have another SIM card with 4 GB, I'd just keep your current one.
The speed enhancement (if there is any with the card AT&T is sending) will be miniscule at best.

I have no idea what this guy is talking about, since SIMs only hold 128kb.

If your ATT SIM is marked "3G", then you should be fine, and most any SIM issued in the past couple years should be the 3G ones.
I've seen a very small number of posts (maybe only one, can't remember if it was on this forum or the ATT forum) that claim that switching from an older 3G SIM to a newer one yielded slightly faster data speed. But I'm thinking this is just placebo affect. Its so hard to get a stable 'average' data value anyway, you can almost read from the test results whatever you want unless you are extremely systematic and scientific about it.
I used the SIM back from my old Tilt (so back from 2007) on my the Tilt 2 for a while. Then I activated the new SIM that came with the Tilt 2. No noticeable speed difference.
I'm guessing he's thinking about MicroSD cards...

Does the Wind version of the S3 require a micro-sim card?

I'm getting an S3 today and I'm just wondering if the Wind version it requires a micro-sim card. Can I use my normal sim card or do I have to cut it? Sorry if I'm being a noob. I just want to be sure.
Its a Micro Sim card, yes. I have the WIND version. Mine came with the device Yours should too!
All S3s require micro sim.

The WIND store I was at was able to cut my standard-sized SIM into a micro SIM. The guy didn't charge me for it and gave me a SIM adapter in case I needed it to go back to a phone that used standard-sized SIM cards.
Alternatively, if you can somehow get a micro SIM that's blank, you go to a corporate WIND store and ask to transfer your account over to that micro SIM. It's free of charge as long as you go to a corporate store, otherwise it'll cost like $10.

Ok thanks. The bad news is that I need to wait a month until an upgrade . I guess I won't join the S3 community until th end of September. Thanks for the answers anyways.
Just wondering, is there any place I can buy an unlocked T-Mobile S3? Either a website or a store.

Note ii & vodafone uk micro sim cards

Hello there,
has anyone got a note ii with vodafone micro sim card running fine?
I have inserted several micro sim cards from vodafone, including at two vodafone stores, sadly non of them get recognised. Could my note ii be faulty?
I need to know this so that I can return it to Handtec UK.
Thanks for the heads up.

Have you tried other sim cards? if you experience the same problem with other sim cards then it could be your unit...

It is very strange because I have a pay as you go vodafone micro sim card that works just fine, as does a t-mobile micro sim from my s 3.
The trouble is with the contract micro sent to me, as well as the ones I tried today.
Also, when you look at the chips on the micro sims, the t-mobile as well as the vodafone pay as you go micro sims are longer than the chips on the others. When voda sent the micro to me, it read iPhone/iPad. The assistants in the voda stores claim the micro sim is said to be for iPad/iPhone, but should work in any phone designed to take micro sim cards.
I got mine from Vodafone as upgrade. It comes with a micro sim. It has been working fine for me for the last 2 weeks.

I have tried O2, tmobile, gifgaff, and an Asian roaming sim card with mine and they all work. Are you saying the sim card from voda is not the same size as the one that works? Maybe they are NANO sim cards and the contacts dont line up with your Note 2. So they don't work. Or if they are for iphone, then they are for iphone, which is trying hard to monopolise the industry, but will NEVER happen! Phuck apple devices !!!!
Probably vodafone are giving me non cards, because as I said, their pay as you go has a longer chip. The trouble is that the guys in the stores can see this, but insist the "nano" should work?

They're giving you nano-sims?
Unless you're inserting them with an adapter I doubt they'll work as the note 2 is designed to take micro sims, not nano sims. Nano sims are a bit smaller.

I just don't know what is up with these sim cards. I was on chat with a voda customer rep. He will be sending out another sim card. I hope it works. I advised him to look at the lengths of the chip itself, and get to me one that equals the length of their PAYG micro sim cards.
I will let you know how I get on in three to five working days, which is when the sim might be with me.
I cut mine with scissors... I couldn't wait long enough to drive 5 miles to the nearest store haha

Actually it's funny because I've tried to insert nano simcard by a mistake and it actually works (DON'T THINK ABOUT DOING THIS). I hope it won't move while being inside or I'm screwed. It was already too late when I realized that nano sim card is different from micro sim. Guess I was too excited to try this phone out.
The screenshots were taken with SG Note 1 and I kept the resolution unchanged.
Don't ask me how did I do it, because I don't know it myself.

I also made calls with it and it's working just fine.

Yeah I'll have to buy an micro sim adapter for the peace of mind.
You can purchase micro sim cutters; or use one as a template. I've had no issues with my normal sim cut with scissors. Hell, I wonder why they decided to go the micro-sim root anyway. Complicates things.

I am currently using my micro sim from my iphone 4 on the note 2 and had no problems. I have been using the same sim on the day of the launch of note 2 and it's been fine.
Could the moderators please close this thread?
My issue has been resolved. The micro sim card tray was faulty.
I posted my phone back to Handtec on Wednesday. They received it yesterday, and I have received a new replacement today.
They are excellent for delivering quality in time. One day between the original order and delivery, one day between return/warranty and replacement.
If they could do it in one day, they would.

[Q] No SIM card problem..PLEASE help!!!

OK, so I've searched these forums, and various other forums, quite extensively to solve my problem here. My buddy purchased an ATT Samsung Galaxy S3 off of a friend. He unlocked the phone, using the free method mentioned within these forums multiple times (entering digits in to the dialpad, going through menus, etc..). With that, he was able to use his T Mobile Straight Talk SIM card to use Straight Talk's services. On a suggestion from me, I told him to save some money, and switch over to T-mobile directly.. get the $30 a month plan. He did.
When he set up his sim card from straight talk, he had to cut it to fix the S3. It worked fine, but when he removed the sim card, he thought he could have damaged the sim card holder. Lo and behold, inserting the T-mobile sim card is netting a "No Sim Card.. Emergency Calls Only" message. I believed possibly he unlocked his phone improperly, based upon the fact that, apparently, per these forums, Straight Talk doesn't require your phone to be unlocked? Regardless, we re-unlocked the phone, using the free method mentioned within these forums, but still the sim card doesn't recognize. We tried my t-mobile sim card, which works fine in my nexus 4, and that didn't recognize.. but his sim card DOES recognize in my phone. We tried a verizon sim card, and that doesn't recognize. We have NOT tried an ATT sim card, but he's going to do so shortly, to see if that recognizes.
Thinking this could be a software issue, I wiped his phone's cache, data, etc.. and reset the phone to factory defaults. Still the no sim card error. So he bought a new sim card holder off e-bay, removed the back, removed the old sim card holder, put the new sim card holder in.. still no sim card error. Still doesn't work with any of the sim cards we've tried.
I then wiped the phone yet again, rooted it, and installed cyanogenmod, thinking possibly that it was software related still. Still, no sim card error. I took the phone apart, cleaned the contacts with a q-tip and denatured alcohol, cleaned the motherboard, cleaned the plugs for the sim card holder... still no sim card error.
So as far as we can tell, the phone is unlocked, rooted, has been tried with a custom rom, stock rom, and the stock rom that worked perfectly fine one week ago. We have replaced any potentially bad hardware (although, potentially, the new hardware could ALSO be bad I suppose). As far as I can see, this is not a software issue, nor is this a hardware issue.. yet, it still doesn't work. I'm really out of possible solutions at this point, and I implore the help of these forums to give me a lead or something for what can be done. This is a nice phone, and my buddy's not that well off; he can't really afford anything other than a flip phone, and he spent a good chunk of cash on a glorified tablet at this point. Please help! Thank you!!!
EDIT: I also tried cramming a piece of paper in to both the old sim card older, and this sim card holder, to ensure the contacts are touching properly
