Google Music De-authorizing limited to 4? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I was reading earlier that Google is limiting de-authorizing devices to 4 per year. This will be a big problem for me since my s2 is registered as new device everytime I flash a new rom.
What to do...
Source:
http://www.androidcentral.com/google-music-limits-device-de-authorizations-4-year

They could have atleast warned us. I hae 3 old devices on there now that I cant deauthorize!

Well I'm fu**ed... I have nine on my account with no deauthorizations left..

We will have to start using the browser version on our phones to get around authorization, Or edit our build prop on every rom so it identifies as the same device to google.

When I read about this on AC this morning I tried to deauthorize some devices and got the over the limit message; however when logging into Music a few hours later I was able to do it to a bunch of devices. Guessing Google got too many complaints about this today and changed policy.

Just go into settings and delete the devices.. That's what i did... Works fine

It's reverted, can de-auth again, do it now now now.

Done and done!!!

subsonic...no song limit, more privacy (as I own the computer that acts as the server), direct transcoding from FLAC, dont have to upload anything but instead transfer over my lan at 40Mb/s. Optionally streams over SSL for even more privacy. Been running for 120 days uptime now without a hitch or hiccup on an atom cpu.
I gave up on online-cloud crap a long time ago.

just came across this: http://www.theunwired.net/?item=lim...ion-to-four-devices-per-year-only-update&6239
looks like they modified the policy due to the backlash of complaints.

Amazon Apps Store

Am I the only one that is not able to login?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I can log in just fine.
If you have been flashing a lot lately that might be the issue. Amazon creates an entry for your phone each time you do the initial log in after you have flashed a ROM. There is a cap at 20 accounts on Amazon.com. You will need to log into the Amazon website and in the app store section delete some (at least one) of the old devices in your profile, then you should be able to log in on your phone again.

That's crazy. I knew there had to be a limit though. I even think 20 devices is a little too much, but I'm not complaining.

No, I actually hadn't re-installed Google Docs but downloaded Google Drive directly from the market.
Also says that it is not ready...
Okay I see what you're talking about, my bad, I hadn't tried running it yet had just downloaded it from the market with no problems.
It may be that it is only open to a limited amount of people right now. It is working fine for me, just downloaded it today.
ive got it. i was asked to upgrade mine, which i never had installed atleast intentionally.
I installed today and it is working fine for me as well.
My phone must be having a schizo kind of day, it would seem my google drive is now accessible. lol
itll work for anyone, just open the browser and click the docs link, then it will say download the app, then after you download it will say your device not ready and then click notify me. now go back to browser and click docs again and google drive will open and be working fine.

Will google let us link our files to others?
The last time I used google docs was probably 3 years ago, files are still there I just don't access them anymore.
Google music- I mean, play music, is great in theory and terrible in practice. It lags and pauses repeatedly on the phone and apparently cannot be played in firefox while on xp, with certain isp's while missing certain obscure security patches that no one can point to.
I just can't see using Drive for anything meaningful. My wife has two companies she does work for and they either use their own database or dropbox.
Did you delete the Sprint proxies on your phone? Once I set mine to 0.0.0.0 streaming was much, much better with Google Music.

How do we make our computers look like a tablet??

lol, this is nuts.. With all the tweaks and tricks we have... When tethering my phone to my Xoom/Ipad or even my Roku, I have ZERO issues..
The second I use my laptop, using I.E. or Firefox... Within 5 minutes.. I get the message from T-mobile, lol
Then a minute later, I get sent to the t-mobile website.. It ONLY happens on a PC based computer, but as I said, Tablets.. Never!!
Is there a way??

Use Google Chrome. In the chrome store for Google Chrome there is a user agent add on that will fake an Android tablet user agent for you works perfect for when for some reason they catch you.

MightText SMS for tablets

Is anyone else using this free app. If not, WHY. Absolutely love it! Get your phone SMS to your tablet AND PC!!!! You can also respond via tablet and PC.

Pretty simple to set up. Not sure how or if this will piss me off in the long run, but I'll let you know.

Cloud SMS user here.
Similar to Mighty Text, but higher rated and has a $.99 price tag.
Extremely responsive Dev who is always improving/tweaking it.
This type of app is a must-have for me as well.
Been using it for about a month now myself. No issues, works great.

Same here. Devs were responsive for a few emails, and then they just sort of dropped off. Please let me know if you get this figured out. Are out using Handcent or Go SMS on you phone?
That happened to me as well. I unlinked my tablet in the settings and added it back again and it fixed it.

Devs were the same with me, responsive at first, then gave up. No extra sms apps installed so that's not the problem. Also tried resetting everything, but no joy.

Yeah, I tried unlinking and relinking. Didn't work. I decided to just pay the $5 per year and go back to DeskSMS. It has been super reliable across any and every build on my phone, and its companion, TabletSMS, has worked with both my Nexus 7 and my TouchPad. Worth the money to me.
App store issues?
I just picked up a Nexus 7 the other day and went to download Mightytext from the app store and it is saying my device is not compatible? I feel like something is very wrong here. Any suggestions?

Derp... wrong app. Finally figured it out
I use it but I'm a little concerned about privacy... Its obvious the actual texts and phone numbers are going through mighty texts servers to get from AT&Ts system to my nexus 7 which is only connected via WiFi, or is that incorrect? I text a lot of highly sensitive info due to my line of work. I hope I'm worried for nothing because its a great app and one more reason to put my phone down while I'm on my tablet.

I think it's going through googles servers since you login with your Google credentials, but I guess that could be just for authentication. If you need more privacy tablet talk syncs via Bluetooth but I think you have to pair it a lot.

Yeah I had tablet talk for awhile, I just hate having to connect it every time. I'd love for someone to give us some clarification on my privacy question. Lemme see if I can search for the answer. I'll post it here if I find it. :good:
Love this app
I love this app so much I made an inverted version. Screenshots attached.
I will upload to test if anyone is interested. Then I will start a post for it once I know it's working for more people then myself. I only themed hdpi so Nexus 7 only for now.
Let me know please!!!!!
iMessage.... What a complete and total copy..... Granted, you can easily say the same for this app and Whatsapp. Idk, I think this is easier and much better than whatsapp (used both). I messages claims to use phone number only.....so does MightyText....
What do you guys think?

Just shows how much "control" they have over our devices!
I could see ADM being a big deal for Nexus owners or people who own phones that the manufacturer doesn't provide a wipe/tracking feature for. Samsung's Find My Mobile (ex-Dive) has been around for two years and has more features than Google's ADM. Does anyone see any features or benefits ADM provides over Find My Mobile?

And notification's a bad thing? What if someone hacks your Google account and is tracking you via ADM or maliciously sends a wipe command to your phone? Without any notification you'd have no idea. The first thing I'd do on FMM if I truly lost my phone is remote lock it, even before tracking it. The lock command you send to the device allows you to have a 100 character message appear on the lock screen along with a number to call about returning the phone. Which by the way isn't something you can even do (yet) with ADM. Once it's locked the person who finds it (or stole it) can't do anything with it including turning off its wireless signal(s) or reading notifications. And if the phone's in your possession and you track it, ring it or pull a call log who cares that there's a notification? I kind of see your point though in that if the phone's been intentionally stolen the thief could see the FMM tracking notice in the notification bar (there's no audible alert) if the phone wasn't locked first. But a thief that knows Android would immediately hard reset the phone (or disable Wi-Fi and mobile data) right after stealing it which renders both ADM and FMM useless anyway.
It's useless if ur phone is stolen. But very useful if u forgot where u placed your phone. Getting it to ring enables me to find My phone much easier instead of calling myself
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
All of this is useless because it is enough for someone that steals/finds your phone to take out the SIM card and no way any software can tell you where it is... so it is very limited help.
Will this require the internet to be turned on my phone?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
Yup. It basically connects to your samsung account which your phone is logged on to. A hard reset will remove your samsung account login details so this is really useless if stolen.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4
What about hardreset? Will ADM survive from a hardreset?
Don't expect too much since it's an added free feature. I'm personally using Cerberus which have full of features and I don't compare the two side by side. Maybe you don't need it now but this small new feature will be of help when you really need it.
