Am I the only one that feels like TouchWiz has gotten even worse. Granted I haven't seen much but it doesn't even look complete.
I hate to say it but I think Samsung is throwing away its lead with this device, especially when you see what HTC has coming.

They said that all last year about the sgsii. American units were supposed to get the Tegra 2. Not basing the specs off rumors.

No I didn't because I left my phone on the reply screen via tapatalk as I typed my message. Also, no one can officially determine what might come to be within the next months.
So your point being is? We both hope the sprint version gets the 2 GB's of ram, and an exynos processor.

It won't be Exynos... as of now, those are incompatible with 4G networks. Unless some technology breakthrough occurs, then it's the S4. But the S4 isn't really even worse than the Exynos. Granted it is dual core, it still benchmarks really similar scores.
The 2GB RAM sounds like a likely possibility though. I'm sure they would include it if the Japanese get it with the same processor.

Wasn't Sony suppose to release a 12mp android soon?

y'all need to stop making these threads about the gs3 and evoLTE. There are enough of them already, have nothing to do with the et4g, and these phones already have their designated sections on xda. this ****s annoying

Well, all the more that a relative will be picking this up when it goes on sale. (Docomo is only giving a June-July timeframe right now)
Their website now has it listed although it's a little light on specs right now:

I want to upgrade my phone, which one do you recommend?

Hi,
I have a Samsung Vibrant and want to upgrade my phone to Galaxy S II, now do you guys recommend the T-Mobile version or the international version?
Please don't consider only the phone but also the future ROM development also.
Thanks in advance
specs wise I recommend the Tmobile one because of higher process speeds. and for development, I haven't really looked into the international version but the att skyrocket is the same phone as this so whoever gets a better ROM 1st , both sides win because they are compatible with eachother
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
I don't know too much about the international version but I believe you will get better data speeds with the Tmobile version depending on your area but the processor is better in the international version.
I recommend going with the international phone. If you are curious about development, check out the forums of each device and see what you like. The international version will also get official updates faster.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
Definitely the international. Especially if development is important to you. Our development is beat.

I came from a Vibrant. Went GNexus then went to GS2 today.
I used the Gnexus for about a 9 days and already the GS2 seems way snappier (using the Juggernaut 4.1) Can't say about the battery life on it yet, but with the GNexus I was able to get full day with a single charge with wifi on all day.
Enterrpise email on push along with gmail and hotmail. sms/mms/listen to podcast for about 3.5 hours.
I'll have more details with the gs2 (T989) in the next couple of days.
Why would you get the international version when you would be stuck on edge speeds?
This phone is fast a you would need it to be but its true the development here is slow. I would recommended this phone to anyone in a heart beat.
I couldn't have a phone on Tmobile without wifi calling....thus the Tmobile version

Okay heres the dealio. Non bias or anything. Internation galaxy s 2= GS2 T-mobile galaxy s 2= 989
The 989 has a larger screen to play with. Not really a necessary thing to have but its nice. The processor on gs2 is alot better. Exynos processor. The only reason the 989 has a bigger number in processor is because its a qualcomm snapdragon. Which is sucks... lol. Exynos has better gpu and cpu control. The cameras the same. And yada. The data is better for tmobile since it is true 4G. (42 mbs) but i dont see using the data a whole lot unless you tether 24/7. But the lack of development in this community is just like the SGS4G. Honestly its cause this phone doesnt really need it. Once we get CM9 then you... Devs will work there asses off cause cm9 is the best and far more developed than stock. But its slow atm. The gs2 already has ics roms i presume and if not then they will really soon! So its all about your patience...

Why Do you say Exynos is better? Any proof? at least gs2 is higher in GHz.
The exynos has a smoother transitions and i compared it to a sprint gs2 with an exynos processor. The game asphalt is noticeably smoother on the exynos processor. And number doesnt matter at all. Windows phones are still 1.0 ghz and not evem dula core and can do perfect with animations and games. Honeslty dual core is nonsense... But exynos is an all around better processor. If you dont believe me then go to a sprint store and play around with their gs2

Yes. Its gonna have Snapdragon S4 dual core (which should have good performance though) in order to have AT&T LTE.
Also, it only has 512mb RAM. Releasing in April... Really?
The phone hasn't been released. The quad core version might best the Nexus but still have sense.

HTC put themselves in trouble the way I see it.. they release a few new phones that are not very impressive.. yea it has ics and a few cool features and a quad core processor which every phone will soon have but not anything to die for... I would take a gsII over this and its a year old... and now with the GSIII coming out soon, this will be outdated in know time.. I'm slightly disappointed:/ so I will defiantly be holding on to my nexus for at least a year unless Samsung really impresses me!

Why does it matter that it has Sense? You and majority of the people on XDA have a custom rom loaded. Even though the Galaxy Nexus has pure Android, many use a custom rom.
If you were given a phone with 512mb ram and 1gb of ram, I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
An April release is considered good for Android. That's a little over a month away. Android manufacturers are notorious for announcing a device well before the release date.

HTC sucks. After the hd2 there hasn't been one good device from them. Our device will not be outdated. Nexus s and Galaxy Nexus will be future proof. I'm only supporting Samsung they seem to be the only consistent company as far as devices.
How about releasing a quad core hd2 with a better display and ffc. That phone will never die. Endless support.

Actually I don't have a custom ROM. That's why I bought a Nexus lol. And that doesn't mean I can't hate on Sense (had an Evo 4G, and I'm scarred for life). I'm glad they're making it lighter than previous versions, but its still there...

Thing is, its being released already behind on this spec. Phones already have 1gb RAM. It will be VERY tired with 512mb a year from now when I'm expected to still be using it. Not future proof at all with 512mb, that's my point.

Generic "OMGZ! A NEW PHONE VS OUR Nexus" answer:
No, I'm not interested, otherwise I would take part in the discussion in the proper sub-forum.
Also I'm not interested if there is any extra UI on it that I cannot disable/uninstall.
The manufacturer doesn't release the original ROM for download so I can flash it back if necessary? Not interested.

I would not get a phone with an Exynos processor after what codeworkx said about it, but that's just me.
Also, not sure how many ROMs you are looking for. There's a bunch of TouchWiz, there's CM10, AOKP, MIUI (still WIP), and some other AOSP-derived ROMs.
Thats what they said when att got note I. Go check the note I development and you will see how vivid it is +devs are waiting the release of stable jellybean. And idk what you mean by dead, we got every possible rom that exists around xda community. If you are a flash addict then that is your problem. But the best kernel dev has a galaxy s3(faux) + we got cyanogen also. As it regard touchwiz there is not much to dev about it cuz sammy did really well. Reread your post. You said that the s3 dev community is dead. And keep in mind that note 2 grabs only the attention of maybe 20% of the buyers cuz most of them do not like something that is that huge. Plus do some research. Its processor is old technology uses a9. When a15 comes out then yes you can call it an upgrade.

No way I would get a Note. Way to big and I have big hands. Just no reason for it.
When buying my S3, rep had what I thought was a tablet streaming music off it. He said it was the Note 1 and sat it down next to the S3 and I was like I am amazed at how many people use this as a phone. He told me he never uses it as a phone, rather an entertainment device. Had an Apple as his regular phone, lol!
Biggest I would go is....maybe 5", but honestly feel 4.8" is the sweet spot for guys with decent sized hands. Girls 4.3" should suffice.
I honestly believe the phablets will be a thing of the past in less than a couple years, maybe even sooner.

Not note 2 for me. Phone looks great but I think is too much for me, I thought this phone was too big at first. The only thing it help was that I had a galaxy nexus and evo lte, I don't think 5 inches will be comfortable to use but who knows, I never thought I was going to get bigger then 4.3 (back on 2010 with original evo) and here we are now ha ha

4.8 is def a sweet spot, but at times it can be a chore reaching your thumb towards the top of the screen while using it one handed. Most people use bluetooth ear devices anyway so phonewise its not a huge concern with size

I'd prefer the Galaxy S3. I was drooling over the Note 2 at first, but I did some more research and the Galaxy S3 is a better size, price, and overall phone for me.
It is super hard to get aosp ROMs going on exynos based devices...Samsung doesn't like to release there source and drivers for there soc and when they do it is to late and outdated. Omap and Qualcomm are great at releasing s#it
I have a feeling there will be a lot of tw based ROMs for the N2. Maybe one or two hacked up aosp ROMs
I guess I'm sticking with what i have

now you have a thousand
(Sorry it bothered me xD)
And on topic, i surely hope this phone doesnt die off so quickly. I got it for the development, as the S2 was highly lacking.

Some theming and stuff will be good so yeah congrats for your topic, you sound like a total noob

just moved over to the note 2

from this phone, difference is literally day and night, im getting 6 hour screen time now
but for those that want to switch over, note 2 also has the infamous blob/vertical line issue
so beware.
I'm waiting for the gs4

good idea, that'll be a pretty big jump over what we have, although i think the note 2 is the last smartphone i'll buy, since project glass is coming soon, and i really dont feel like dropping another 600dollars on a phone

havnt seen anything similar to nexus 4 selling for 350 yet, i honestly dont think it'll happen anytime soon..considering the availability of the N4(i tried to order on day one, stock was literally gone within 5 minutes in canada)
i sure hope it sets a standard, $500+ for a phone is no joke!

I'm using this phone until it doesn't work anymore. Can't imagine why I'd need anything faster. It does everything I want it to do....and well.

Cool story bro. The Note II still demolishes this phone and does everything this phone does 100x better. Everyday I play with and activate them for customers at work and it makes me cry on the inside.

i agree and disagree
t989 is still plenty fast, note 2 is faster, but thats a given
my issue with t989 is that the battery is really crap...after a full year of use the battery wont even last 3 hours screen on, so i figured id let my mom use it for voice only (which still goes on for days)

Yea I was just updating the GSIIIs in my store to 4.1.1. Much smoother than ICS. Although they still stutter and spurt a bit. Although I think that might be due to the crappy demo software T-Mobile loads floor models with lol. You can definitely tell with the notification toggles. They're were choppy on ICS, much smoother on JB.
And yes I agree with your s4 move. I believe Sammy may be putting their dual core a15 exynos/Mali t604 in it. I'm gonna pass on all phones this gen and wait for that. Its monster!! Have you seen the Nexus 10 in action?

Oops! Lol. I kinda thought that after I posted it....but too lazy to worry about it!
I have been eyeballing the Note 2, whats this about an S4 though? I would love the power of the Note 2, in a smaller package. The SGS2 is the perfect size. The Note even in my hands is huge.
The S3 wasn't enough of an improvement over the S2 to be worth it in my eyes. If the S4 shares some of the specs from the Note 2, like perhaps a Quad core CPU, 2 Gb of RAM, and an HD screen. I'm in.
Thought about switching but the phone just seems to big for my day to day use.
I was thinking about the s3, note 2 or waiting for the s4.
So how does compare in holding the s2 in hand vs the note 2

if sgs2 size is your thing
xiaomi m2 or nexus 4 would be your best bet(id go with the n4 tho)
edit:
LOL thought you meant s4 as in snapdragon s4
ya, the s4 coming out next year will rock provided they actually give it:
2-4x cortex a15 cpu in big little config
mali t658
4gb ram, 64gb nand and that 4.99inch 1080p display

From what I've gathered the Galaxy SIV will sport a 5 inch 1080p SAMOLED screen, a quad core A15 architecture Exynos 5 chip possibly coupled with the Mali t658 GPU. Samsung is really trying to knock it out of the park with the GSIV. Can't wait for spring!

Not to mention if your on t-mobile , they are rolling out LTE in 2013 so you might want to hold off on a phone that's actually compatible with it. I'll bet the S4 will be.

I believe that the TMO Note 2 already has latent LTE bands that will be activated via OTA upon the network launch / roll-out.
