official sde con inofficial sde - Gen9, Gen10 General

Hello.
Again me.
Im wondering if i should swap inofficial sde against official.
Does anybody know what the differences are?
Is it nearly the same, with the recovery menu and "other features" like the nice picture you see for ten seconds if you install official sde?
This i dondt need, but it is better to keep "old" sde or to get new sde?
What are the differences?

Official SDE- device is watermarked and warranty (software side) is void
"Our" SDE- very likely there is no leftover/watermark after SDE is uninstalled

What do they both modify? Can one imagine this as two slightly different "bootlmenus" ?

In fact they are both custom (not signed) kernels, presence of SDE kernel affects Recovery menu.
However installing official SDE makes the device permanently marked (I don't know the details)

So there is a second permanent kernel if we have a sde?

Yes, there is second kernel. However device boots official one by default

After official SDE installed, can be flash returned is not official SDE? (abcbox kd_flasher)?
Anybody have extracted the official partition image 7_MMCF? (Is in kernel +initramfs only?)

This won't change anything, after installation of official SDE device will be watermarked

Thanks.
There is any sense to install the official SDE?

it is easier than the un-official. If you dont mind voiding the warranty for software issues, then just use the official.

Same here. Installed by the old method today, as I think archos won't accept even for hardware issues the watermarked devices. (Like HTC)

Android Upate?

I just got message on phone "Android Update Is Available, Click continue to reboot and install? I did, but I still have 4.1.2? anyone know what this is? Talked to Samsung and they asked for broadband version (not sure why) I thought 4.2 was next Android update?
It's firmware update probably, with fixed bugs and all that. Most people here just got one recently (I'm on custom rom, so wouldn't know about that).

1. The "*##*37847#" method doesn't work for me since I'm on 1.2.8i , thus cannot verify the screen model
2. My phone is x9076 int'l, manufactured in december 2014
3. I have the "bleached screen" bug on 3rd party ROMs and namelessTWRPs
4. The twrp-x9076 takes only half of a screen area (it does work though, but still identifies my phone as find7a which is incorrect)
5. you still didn't describe the difference between the other two
I tried flashing CM12 nightly with twrp-x9076 (had to remove assert from update script). No good - same as before, bleached screen and such. So this particular recovery seems to be useless for anything other than backup/restore and rooting (which is awesome, but still not what I'd like to have access to).

you have to wait CM update their drivers , otherwise it just .... don't work.
I also have an issue with this and have installed this recovery and its fixed the problem. Now we wait for custom ROM developers to catch on.... I'm going to keep myself glued to cyanogen to see if they change anything!

Same here. Other than the official beta rom there seems to be nothing available for us. I am seriously considering returning the Oppo since I can't even get hold of 1.2.8i (only stable version which ships with the phone).
So sad... I really want to use 5.0 on my OPPO Find 7. I've reached out to Cyanogen but had no replies, reached out to other ROM developers only to either be ignored or have my question washed away by a sea of people complaining that they can't get a game to work on their phone.
Just found out that cyanogen is working on the new oppo find 7 with new lcd panel issue. So anyone disappointed they'll have it sorted soon hopefully!
Does the offical TWRP and CM support this find7 with new LCD????
Any updates on this? I have managed to get the official AOSP ROM working but nothing else unfortunately.
Double the question. Lack of working TWRP is just fatal to any tinkering.

Yes they are compatible with LVM, using it with the official AOSP rom since it's been the only way for me to get Lollipop so far, will probably test out the new beta ColorOS 2.1 Lollipop ROM as well.
EDIT: Actually just noticed some issues with it, can't mount internal_sd or data partitions and thus can't back up, avoid. I thought I'd backed up on LVM but clearly not.
Speaking of ROMs... I've taken the screen driver of the original Oppo kernel from the github and added it to the cm12.1 kernel (ie overwritten the cm12 driver with the Oppo one), I'm now compiling it from source and will report back if this works. If so, this will mean working Cyanogenmod for the new panel!

How to instal CyanogenMod 13/12.1 on ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE500CL (Z00D)?

Can somebody please help me with installing cm 13 (12.1 if not available yet) on my ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE500CL (Z00D)? All the files and tutorials I've found are for Z008/Z00A. Be patient, we don't have a CM port yet. Asus is yet to release a working kernel source for our device, and without it you cannot port a custom ROM. It's supposed to come by the end of this week. As for Cyanogenmod, one of the people who worked on CM 13 for the Z00A/Z008 variant expressed interest in working on CM for ZE500CL, but he can't even start working before Asus releases the working source file.
Anyway, just wait.

You should not lose your warranty (at least in Europe bootloader unlocking won't void it).
I would suggest you to make yourself familiar with flashing in general (adb, fastboot, tools, rom formats etc.) before you attempt something.
Recovery Android 11 EU ROM, flashing from TWRP works fine. Notification LED is finally clearly visible with the latest ROM.

It was the same for me, so I just flashed recovery ROM from TWRP (at first from 12.0.8.0 to 12.0.9.0 and then to 12.0.1.0). It should work with locked bootloader and stock recovery as well (some extra steps like renaming file to "update.zip" and putting it to the root of SD card, or using ADB sideload might be necessary).

I think the A11 EEA Recovery ROM got released but you have to be a Beta tester? Something to do with pilots lol
So hopefully that means there will be a full 11 rollout soon
I thought that EU Andoid 11 version is stable, but it seems to be really only beta as mentioned on 4pda. There are some misalignments in message notifications and phone crashed quite nastily once (had to reboot it 5 times until it finally fully started). RAM usage seems to be a bit too high as well resulting in more app redraws/reloads than necessary. I hope that fixed version will be out soon.
And the very same file is out as official "beta stable" now..

From what I understood how Xiaomi does the updates:
1. at first there is internal beta
2. after successful internal testing, it goes to closed beta
3. after closed beta it goes to public beta
4. if there are no (major) issues, the very same version is released to public in batches as "stable beta" (recovery ROM)
5. if there are no (major) issues, the very same version is released to public in batches as "stable" and fastboot ROM is released as well
So I believe that what we've seen is that "public beta" V12.0.1.0.RJSEUXM became "stable beta" and will transition to "stable" in the coming weeks. However when exactly is it going to hit your phone is impossible to tell, they chose phones by country + some random parameters. Manual installation is probably the best way how to have the latest ROM version.

Exactly this version is now arriving on my German stock phone as an OTA update today. The phone is new and I had never participated in any beta program or anything like that. Thus it should be stable production right now. Is this true?
Did I get this right? Xiaomi is not differentiating beta-version numbers from stable version numbers? In other words: I cannot differentiate the release train between a beta and a stable channel from looking at the version number?
Thank you!

Yes, it seems to be considered as a "stable" now.
And yes, there is no difference in the version number between beta/stable. ROM is not being re-released, it's always the same ROM with the same download link and with the same hash. Beta/stable beta/stable is just a naming convention which changes over time. There is no special beta channel in a traditional sense as you might be used to from PC/ mobile applications.

Thank you, _mysiak_! This is more clear now.
What is disappointing for me is, that now, after I have thoroughly decided to install the OTA update, it has disappeared again and is no longer found by the Xiaomi updater. How strange.
Maybe there were bugs and it is set back to beta status?
You probably never know the algorithms how Xiaomi distributes updates...
Maybe they just save bandwidth right now. ;-)

I've read exactly that explanation - if you don't install the update when it's received, your "slot" is released after few hours/days and offered to someone else. It is supposed to save bandwidth and prevent overload of Xiaomi servers. But I have no idea if it's really true..
So the update will shortly be arriving now as stable update via phone updater. If someone has a link when it arrives you should put it here

I know what the MUIPRO team has on our TWRP device + firmware, but for now their site is moving ((
Nice to see that they finally created a forum for the 12X! Overall I hope that TWRP and Custom Roms will come to the 12X sooner or later, I thinks it's still a new device (and not on the cheap side), so eventually developers will get their hands on it.
