[Q] I will buy One X. Any troubles with it? - HTC One X

Hi, I will buy One X, did u people noticed some bugs/lags on that phone? I will run stock ROM.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA

I'm currently running stock and have had no problems at all in fact really loving the device. There have been some problems for others so I guess it comes down to if you get a good one or not. But mine is running smoothly with a nice battery life I would recommend it but that's just from my experience others may tell you different.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

had it for 2 weeks, everything is good for me.. best phone i owned as of the moment. really fast, battery life is doing pretty good as well.

I'm running Sense 4.0A right now. How's Sense 4.0? And wat's most common problems?
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA

mines is running great, i had slight flickering at low brightness (not actually noticable unles you are trying to notice it with up close to the screen) but the update 401.11 fixed this,
no other issues at all, it's a great phone trust me! i was sceptical but when i held it and saw the screen i had to keep it,

Thanks for help, and... I will buy it! thanks for the help.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA

No real issues here either. First device was ThreeUK branded and had an issue with reception and Three were slow to update so I returned that (fault free) and got an unbranded device that had the update immediatly. Fixed the reception issue and the new device is also fault free.

[Q] will there be PLAIN gingerbread??

Hi!
First of all i want to say Hi to all desire z / g2 users! Recently i have bought desire z - before i was an g1 user - and i've loved it. BUT...
I have never used HTC SENSE before, and now i know for sure - hate it. To big, to complicated. What i like is just simple Android GUI. So...my question is: does any Devs are working on plain desire z (hopefully gingerbread) rom? And is there any new, stable and fast rom without sense or miui?
[Edit] oh! I believe i didn't make myself clear....i know, that i can install launcher pro or adw, but all stuff from sense is still there...dialaer, sms app, even keyboard pisses me off....i want as plain as it can be ginger - is CM7 the only way for me??

Right now I think all stock roms are CM7 based. If you want pure stock it sounds like your may have to wait until someone roots the official gingerbread release for you to flash.
For the record CM7 with the stock launcher had been fantastic for me.

Thanks for fast replay!
I've never used brand new phone before, so that's why, if i finally apply non_htc_rom, i want it to be as close to my expectations as possible.
Ok. So - i have to wait for rooted gingerbread...meanwhile i'll read something more about CM7. On g1 and CM5/6 i had a lot of stability and performance issues such as problems with g-sensor, touch display hangs etc., thats why i'm trying not to apply this rom....but.....SENSE UI is horrible....i think in a few days i will perform upgrade to cm7 to see what it's worth!
Once again - thanks for reply

You cannot compare the G1 cm5/6 experience to the G2 cm6/7 experience. I also had the G1. It was a great phone in its time. It did not have the hardware to run those roms properly though. It is a testament to the cm team that we even had it to begin with. The G2, however, is perfectly capable of handling these roms and does so exceptionally.
My wife has a G2 as well. She keeps hers stock. At times, I grab her phone in the car to pull up maps or something. It is immediately apperant the difference in the feel of the phone. My phone running cm7 rc4 is noticably smoother and faster.
I think that if you give cm7 a go, you will not be disappointed.
Just so you know, multiple sites are reporting today that the g2 will receive it's update this quarter.

Well, here's hoping I can install it without losing S-Off. If they package it like they did for the MT3G, I wouldn't mind so much either...

Here's the article (or one of them) stating "an HTC spokesperson" says that an official "vanilla" Gingerbread ROM is coming to the G2 this summer:
http://blogs.computerworld.com/18102/htc_t_mobile_g2_gingerbread?source=rss_cwbloggers
Sounds a bit rumour-y right now. But good to hear, nonetheless.
As already stated, try CM7, it is running PERFECT for me!
..... also this may be of interest to you.....
from http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/content.php/279-VillainROM
A priority for me will be a new Gingerbread vanilla build, which will replace the current GingerVillain. I don’t expect work to start on this until mid-April, so please bear with me.

Should I buy a Desire?

Hi guys,
I've got a htc wildfire and I'd like to upgrade it to something better. Desire fits my price range but I have some doubts.
A lot of htc phones share a common grounding problem. When you put your phone in a car cradle/holder or on a soft surface like sofa or pillow screen does not respond as it should. Please check the videos;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s30h7Uh6-CI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbIrdQ3ejDI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss81Y124GeY#t=50s
(if you use 2 fingers it won't be a problem as your second finger will be completing the ground circuit. but it is quite dangerous to use your both hands to click on a battery warning box while riding a motorbike)
I use my phone as a satnav a lot. So it would be a major issue for me if you guys phones suffer the same issue.
Could you guys just try it on a pillow/cushion for me please?
Cheers
Never had that issue, that's some b0rked handsets dude, maybe they were dry or whatever.
Well about buying Desire, if you will Root it then it's surely worth it.
in my opinion, desire it's really outdated now
if you can, better go for the desire s, it is going to replace the desire "original"
i never saw that issues on my desire..
I cant replicate that bug, as suggested above that phone must me broken.
Desire is a bit old now but still a good device with lots of dev support here, many roms to choose from.
Downsides...battery will last a day if your lucky, limited internal memory, no multitouch (dual touch only).
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I can only confirm that the grounding bug is not a common issue. My old (AMOLED) desire does not have it. Since the whole back of desire is made from removable soft-plastic cover, I see no reason why this can be (other than liquid damage).
About buying a Desire today, its worth it IF you can find original AMOLED version. If you get SLCD version, then its better to go with either Incredible S or Desire S. Avoid Desire HD since the screen on that one is very poor quality (color and contrasts are very weak).
Never heard of such issue on the original Desire. Not sure about S, but other HTC phones have that issue, yes. Desire is a good phone, very good actually, by be prepared to learn about a2sd+ or CM7 hboot if you want to install more than a handful of apps. If you don't want to root, then go for desire s.

Going from Wildfire -> Desire (even SLCD) is going to be a HUGE improvement. So if price of Desire S/Incredible S is way more, then go for it. Desire should be a good improvement.
Main downside with Desire:
Battery will be weaker compared to wildfire.
GPU performance is not on par with current phones (Desire S etc are much faster). But still better than wildfire!
All other issues can be solved with root/custom ROM.

How can u compare battery life of Desire and Wildfire?
Wildfire: 3,2" screen with 240x320 res, 384mb RAM, cpu 528mhz
Desire: 3,7" screen 480x800, 576mb RAM, cpu 1GHZ
It's obvious that wildfire might have better battery life since it's **** phone, lol.
And tbh 1 day of heavy use with smartphone is not a bad result, those phones are made for it. If you want 1 week battery life buy Nokia 3310.
Compared to Wildfire Desire's memory is huge
I can overcome battery issue by buying 3 spare chinese batteries for peanuts as I did before for my wildfire. (touch wood they are still strong after 5 months)
There is only one amoled Desire on ebay which is a bit overpriced. (200 pounds)
Thanks for the heads up guys. I'll keep digging...

Simply by how many hours you can use a phone while staying away from a cable
I know they have vastly different hardware, but come on. If you are used to 2-3 days on 1 charge, having to charge every night is gonna be something you will need to get used to.
I remember having around 2 days battery life with my Desire last year when 2.2 upgrade came (some time in september/october). So battery age can also be an issue.

Im not sure about that, because the free memory available is only 140 mb to install apps (the rest of the memory is occupied by the rom itself)
But that is solved by root and app2sd/data2sd rom. I got 78mb free + 350mb on ext3 SD, making me never worry about space.

I have the Desire and my other half has the Wildfire. I'm sure if you went from the Wildfire to the Desire you would be happy. As others have said, the Desire might not be bleeding edge now (but it is far from "outdated"). There are plenty of ROM's to choose from if you don't get on with the standard. I also have not experienced any touch screen weirdness - I have even used my desire on my motorbike in that past without problem.
You certainly could do worse.
Nice option!
With all the support this device is getting from devs?thats more than enough for you to consider.
But sorry, i dont have a bike.lol

Desire.....Its rather hot when its working, and the poor battery life... wait for some better options.
I have my Desire for 2 years almost and I am very happy with it. The memory issue is easy to bypass with some custom ROM.
But TODAY I would not buy the Desire as it is a little outdated. Yes I would stick to HTC any day and go for the Desire S or the Sensation. But then again, it is your choice and you budget
Oh yes. Desire is a great phone, really powerful, and in late 2011, it's a much cheaper choice than a Sensation for example (which seems to be the top), I suggest you to buy a second hand Desire, root it and use custom roms, I haven't done it yet, but I used my friends Desire for a day, which had a custom rom with Gingerbread, and it was smooth as silk.
so, I wouldn't call it outdated yet. less powerful than the new ones? true.
I would suggest Desire as
1.its much cheaper than Sensation
2.it would take time for the dual core phones to reach to their full potential
3.only few games require dual core
4.you can run sense 3.0 and 3.5 sense roms which run very smoothly
5.it is widely supported by devs
I believe Desire will never be outdated
Go for it, desire has a great dev community too

I'm sorry for jacking the thread, but the noob video said to do that right ?
I'm in the same boat as the OP, current HTC wildfire owner, and sick to death of it. My main problem is the slowness and cr*p screen.
So anyway, I've been looking for an update, and i'm strongly leaning towards the desire. I can get it for 300 eur, and maybe I can sell my wildfire for 50-100 to some poor sod cruel. The desire S is 399, which is a tad high but *might* be considered if it's really deemed that much faster.
I just want a cellphone with a good screen and better text input (the wildfire's screen is way too small for texting efficiently), which is a reason why i'm leaning towards the desire Z (with keyboard). I know it's not as powerful as the other desire models, but still.
Custom rome are a requirement. Maybe not right away, but if i find something I don't like i'd like to be able to change it.
I can go on for a while like this, so i'll KISS, phone requirements:
- good screen (big enough, resolution)
- GPS (doesn't have to be state of the art, it just has to have a radio)
- Bluetooth
- Good input method (implies a larger screen or, preferably a hard press keyboard)
- I prefer hard buttons on the bottom instead of touch ones; i won't press them by accident (= annoying on wildfire)
- Responsive
- Not too expensive
I don't care about anything else, so the GPU makes no real difference to me i think, unless it really helps with anything besides games. Are any of the desire series a good match or would I be better off sticking with the wildfire until i can get something high budget ?

Need some advice PLEASE

Hey guys.. I've been a One X owner for a while now.. About a month or two. So far I've unlocked my bootloader and flashed ARHD 6.0.0 but im still sort of unhappy about how it works. Multitasking is still horrible and i know that's how its designed by HTC but I am a heavy multitasker and i cant handle that, plus my data limit is 1GB and constantly redrawing webpages on chrome eats my data.
So now im wondering what my options are... If I should leave sense 4.0 out completely. Update to ARHD 7..go CM9... Try Pokemon rom. Idk.
The issues I need sorted out are
1. Multitasking fixed
2. Camera noise/compression MUCH reduced (also the front cam is horrible compared to the S3, if that can be fixed)
3. Battery life. Recently I have no idea why I cant get more than 2-3 hours screen time during the day.. When using the came I barely get 2 hours. This is VERY inconvenient.
4. I prefer the stock ICS switcher. Not HTC's. Not a huge issue though.
So from you guys experiences, whats the best rom to go with? The MOST important thing is the multitasking and battery. Why I haven't been trying roms myself is because I am very very scared to flash again...
Thanks in advance for any input.. Ive done all the searching I can but id really like some advice.. System tuners memory values doesn't do it for me..
Thanks again!

[Q] SLIM ICS 4.2 for HTC ONE X ROCKS MY WORLD WERE OTHERS MADE ME STRES - WHY?S

Hi Folks. My first post on here but have been messing with Android since G1 and was with my trusted Galaxy Nexus until last week I bought the HTC One X.
I must admit that S-On is a pain and i have found it more difficult to flash ROMS to the device after Unlocking Boot-loader on HTCDEV and rooting the Device.
Does any one know of any way to remove S-Off at the minute or is this unlikely in the next couple of weeks?
I tried a few ROMS including CM9 and Paranoid Android without success but have to applaud the Slim ICS Rom for the pure delight in ease of Install and it runs beautifully as it did on my Galaxy Nexus. Is there something about Slim ICS that makes it more simply to port to than others on the market at the minute or is it just my device.
BTW I ensure I went down the Fastboot avenue with Cache and Dalvik clearing etc to try and prevent a Boot-loop scenario but only ICS worked for me.
Anyone out there wishing to try a fast light and very simple ROM to port to then I highly recommend this avenue to explore. :victory:
no, sorry there is no way to s-off a htc one x tegra 3 version.
Did you flash the boot.IMG of each ROM and then erase cache in fastboot? Might be the reason.for other roms not booting.

ICSlim was actually ported by the actual developer of ICslim
Hey, since you came from the Gnex can you please tell me if the battery life is actually better or worse than your previous phone? I am using Gnexus right now but I want to buy a new phone and can't really decide between SGS3 and HOX. Although HOX is a clear winner here I am very concerned about the battery life since it is one of the most important things when it comes to phones for me. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks. Well 3-5 hours of screen on time is definitely an improvement for me,since my current Nexus can barely stand 1,5 hours of browsing. I just got an oportunity to buy a grey one although I wanted the white one. Hope that I won't be disapointed in the terms of looks.

This handset is way better for heavy use than my G nex was and I find it to be of a much higher quality than the Samsung unit. I found that after a fast boot cache clear then the One X runs other roms without issue. Currently trying out Cyanogen Mod 9 and it too runs smoothly on this handset. Must say that this is probably the best handset I have enjoyed since the Nexus One and I recommend t to all of you considering a move in handset.

Why ? Desire HD's battery life is awful. And I felt or somewhat weird in my hand and that was the primary reason that I stopped using it. And I have big hands with which I use a 5" phone comfortably.
Frankly I have never used One V. So I can't tell how it feels in the hand with that curve on the end. But as I read from the forums,One V is probably faster than DHD.
I think you should buy a phone that is newer in the market as it will have more support from the manufacturer as well as the dev community.
Now I'm not saying DHD is not a good phone, its definitely better looking and still has a very good dev support. But DHD has better RAM I guess which gives it an advantage.
End decision is upto you. Hope for the best good luck

Just becoz of RAM, Screen and Camera Im planning.
Bt the battery life is disappointing me a lot. One V has a best battery life i ever experienced in any Android Phone .
Btw the main reason is like it games like TempleRun Lags a lot. Is this problem go after rooting the phone? My phone is not rooted.
I just want atleast games like TempleRun to run smooth, everytime before turning it on o have to clear RAM in task manager. That's y I find the phone slow sometimes els no Problem. one V is an awesome phone

Temple run hangs on Desire HD too !!! tried it and it is disappointing playing on it....it works well even on micromax which sucks.
I have read that with a custom kernel you can overclock it to 1.7 GHz which is sufficient to do almost anything ......but overclocking to 1.2-1.4 GHz would be safe and you will easily run your games without lag i'm sure
A Sense based ROM with GPU rendering and a good custom kernel will make your games run smooth and fast without trouble
What i would suggest it, you root your phone...and see if it works properly. If not you can revert back and exchange it even then. I'll help you with rooting if you need help. I consider that rooting is always a better option, i recently rooted my sensation xe...before i had benchmark scores of 5200 and now its 7000. So i guess it would help a great deal
[EDIT] I checked, both have same GPU and same processor, so if it hangs on this, it will hang on that too
Thanks, plan dropped.
I'm not rooting the phone on scare becoz it voids Warranty .
Btw i can safely unroot the phone in future if i get any problem?
