Anyone noticed redish photos with white backgrounds indoors? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey there, new to this forum. Wondering if anyone has experienced a reddish tint in photos with white backgrounds indoors. Looks like this...

Yeah I get that too. Apparently its pretty common across many phones from many manufacturers. Just Google "phone camera red tint" and you will see what I mean.

Thanks for the reply. Yea noticed that searching as well. Also had it on my g2x. Is it just bad software recognition of white then?

I seem to notice it worse with incandescent light. If I were to guess I'd say its a general Android driver problem since most all of the devices experiencing it are Android. Though I've seen fewer cases of iPhones doing it as well so I really don't know at that point.

I don't seem to get it anymore with camera zoom fx

This is an issue with many smartphone cameras, regardless of manufacturer.
It's a combination of hardware, software, and a mixture of different White balance values.

How's your screen?

I think this is a question many of us have after the SGSII overseas problem.
Well for those of you that have it, and those getting it soon, how's your screen? Notice any bluish/yellowish tint?
I plan on getting one tomorrow, but this is the one possible problem that im worried about.

I've had 2 AMOLED screens so far, Moment and NS4G... I think we need to be honest here. This is not a reference screen. The colors and saturation levels and black point are all tweaked to death...and that will look sugary sweet and awesome for nearly everything. It's a phone not a production studio monitor. But, white's not being perfectly white is something that shouldn't be unexpected...and I would be shocked if you'd ever notice it ever again (without some boring TFT to compared it directly next to....and the TFT would look washed out and purple/blueish/yellowish)......
I mean, failures happen...if your screen looks like complete **** do something about it, but, compared to your typical ****ty LCD or your above-average professional grade reference monitor it will no match up at all... it's sweetened up to look good...color bias will happen and should be expected in comparison to just about anything.
Don't except a turd but don't drive yourself crazy looking for perfection--it doesn't exist and it isn't the point either.
I'm no perfectionist. Just check out the screen issue thread over in the SGS2 forum. Hey had multiple issues like yellowish tint on one side but not the other, bluish tint, lines, etc. Just curious if this will be as bad here as it was there

JUST DID FULL BRIGHTNESS ON BROWSER. on main google page, the page is as white as it gets, no tint what so ever. I am very happy with the screen.
I kinda love this setting, open up browser, click setting and you can set browser brightness.
No tint issues, don't feel any difference between epic vs epic touch...

Trust me, its not too hard to search before posting. From the top of my head, I can think of at least 5 threads that have been made regarding this very issue.
Deal with it, its normal for this phone.
its normal for a lot of phones even lame iphones do it

Found a solution for the ugly blue tint

This app lets you adjust the RGB values of your screen. I used Red +16, Green +10 and Blue +0. It looks so much better now.
Click Menu and Options to turn off the notification entry and make it start at startup.

What ugly blue tint are you talking about?

Many people complain about this with the SAMOLED displays. Maybe it's worse on some devices than others.
Here is a sample of other people complaining and you can also see some side-by-side comparisons with other devices.

Ahh okay, sorry if my question seemed rude. I didn't notice it.

That sounds really helpful, thanks.
Thanks! I've been looking for something like this!
Edit: what settings are you using? I've been playing around for a few minutes trying to color match to my macbook and I can't get it quite right. (r+18 b0 g0 is the closest I've gotten).
Seems to make my phone lag some

[Q] Yellow tint on new Note 2

So I got my new Note 2 today and after playing with it for a couple of hours I noticed a yellow tint when viewing white colors. Like if I visit a website I know use a pure white bsckground, I can see that there is a yellow tint.
The weird thing though is that if I slighty tilt my device, either way, I can see pure white again.
I remember having the same issue with my sgs2 too.
So my question is, do anyone else have this issue? Should I return it or what?

I have already tried that. It only helps abit and it still dont explains if i ever so slightly tilt my phone, the whites are pure white and not yellow-ish

A lot of s3 have yellow on whites, i guess that some note 2s will have some yellow tints to some extent, seems Samsung hasn't completely solved the tint issue on amoleds...if you have a tint on your phone there is not much you can do, if u can try and get it replaced

defective led notification?

I don't know if mine is defective or not. But the color isn't pure white from what I see on the nexus 4 in videos. I think it should be the same right?
Its more of a yellowish tint?
There is no spec on the color of the light, and what the nexus 4 does is irrelevant. If it lights up at the right time it is fine.

People are honestly finding every last thing that they can to complain about this tablet. Did you buy the tablet to look at the notification light, or to actually use the tablet?

I kinda agree with what you say, except that when you buy something "expensive", your expectations are high and you want something perfect (i don't own the nexus 7 so i don't know how should it be) but if the led isn't showing the right color, it's something to care about, though it's a small defect..
I also see what you're saying, but like the poster above me said, there is no specification on the notification light, so there isn't much you can do. Some people have notification LEDs that don't even work apparently. Since the reality is that this generation seems to be having many build quality issues, it doesn't seem like it's worth taking the chance to return it, even though OP probably can't over this issue anyway.

Lol, I could say that people are honestly finding every last way to justify the crappy build quality of this device...

Is that supposed to qualify as a useful post? At least I tried to provide some actual information in mine.

Mine is more eggshell white but remember its only a ~$200 tablet and LG probably uses different LEDs that may be tuned to a more brilliant white
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It's funny I didn't even know I had a notification light until one day I left my tablet sitting there and got a notification while the screen was off. So I believe it only works when when screen is off it's the only time I've seen it go off.... It's on the bottom of the screen right under the button bar (back, home, and recents button). I have been flashing ROMs, kernels, modifying my system to my liking, and trying different things so I never even noticed the light lol.
