[UNOFFICIAL][ROM][4.0.4][IMM76L] Vanilla CM9 for Kindle Fire [06/08/2012] - Kindle Fire Android Development

Hi,
On this thread I'll put my unofficial CM9 builds. They are fully vanilla, except for the volume slider in the status bar, they are exactly the same as Hashcode builds and they include the latest CM source changes. According to this, the issues and bugs are exactly the same.
Read this thread before posting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615355. DO NOT report any problem in the main discussion/dev thread! You can report them here and pray .

Instructions:
Comming from Hashcode's CM9 or another build:
1) Reboot into Recovery (you must use TWRP 2.X or Hashcode's CWMR 5.5.0.4, otherwise flashing will fail)
2) Backup your current ROM
3) Wipe cache
4) Flash the ROM
5) Optionally flash GApps
6) Reboot
Comming from any other ROM:
1) Reboot into Recovery (you must use TWRP 2.X, otherwise flashing will fail. DO NOT try to use Hashcode's CWMR since some users report serious partitioning issues when wiping data/factory reseting as of 05-12 CWMR 5.5.0.4 build)
2) Backup your current ROM
3) Wipe data/factory reset (highly recommended but should work without if comming from a CM9 ROM. At least please DO NOT report any issue if you didn't wipe)
4) Flash the ROM

Hey Trojan38, please check your PM.

Appreciate you doing this, one of the main reasons I tend to stay with Hashcode's builds is that I like them plain vanilla. I like to customize them myself, so again, thanks for doing this.
Only thing I will mention is that d/l is really slow. LOL

Trojan38, if I replace the systemUI apk with the one from Hashcode's latest build, will that give me the volume slider? Thanks.
Mike T

I don't know, try to backup the build's one and to replace with Hash's build one yep .

Here's the new build including the volume slider, and without Bluetooth and Airplane Mode toggles (thanks to twa_priv) :
May 20 build (the name says May 21) : http://d-h.st/dQc

Thanks! Just installed the latest ROM and it works like a charm. Love the Volume Slider and the fact that those unnecessary Bluetooth and Flight Mode sliders are gone.
The only thing missing now is a fully functional sleep mode. ATM the screen does come on every few minutes which diminishes battery life.

Never seen this on any build. Could be related to an app you have installed.
You could do the following:
Install better battery stats (available on xda for free or if you want to support the dev also on the market) and check your wakelocks.
Or, you could make a nandroid backup, also backup all user apps using titanium backup, and start over. Full wipe (cache, dalvik, data and system) and flash again. The observe if this still happens.
Then restore your apps one by one and observe.

New build up and running well. Thanks and also thanks twa_priv. Btw, I've never had issues with the screen coming on as referenced by Shahpur.Azizpour on any of the builds.
Also, I use Green Power which overrides system settings for turning off wifi. When the screen is off, Green Power turns off the wifi and has been pretty effective at saving battery for me.

I checked again and the problem was the app 'screen off and lock' after reinstall everything works fine.
But i noticed that charging was much much faster with the latest Hashcode build. Right now I'm charging with the stock kindle wall charger and it seems awfully slow....

The kernel is excatly the same, so there is no reason for .

In case anyone was wondering, I officially approve this thread.
It's been hell devving the kernel, recovery, bootloader and keeping a CM ROM up-to-date w/ the latest CM changes when I'm really just looking to test new kernel changes on a semi-currently CM build.
I will probably get the rest of the device tree good for merging w/ CM and then change my official build to something a bit different: A straight AOSP build from OmapZoom (TI) sources as a bleeding-edge build for testing new source changes on the device.

I was wondering a bit but figured Trojan38 would do the right thing by you before posting this up. Speaking of wondering, I've been wondering how you've been managing to keep all these pots cooking at the same time, with kernel, rom, bootloader and even recovery. Oh and I guess I forgot you also "tinker" a bit in the NT forum. WHEW!
You've been Super Man and I'm sure you realize that the KF community really appreciates your work. Looking forward to your future kernel development and thanks again.

This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!
All source code is available at the CyanogenMod Github! Send pull requests with your changes!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- First time flashing CM 6.1 (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753910
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Update your radio if necessary
4. WIPE
5. Install the ROM
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
- Upgrading from earlier CM6?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)
HOW TO REPORT BUGS OR PROBLEMS?
- Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
- Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.
- Pastebin links preferred
- Please use the issue tracker whenever possible!

First impression:
- Feels slower then nightly 188 with Flykernel-12 pre1, So i installed Flykernel-12 Pre1 back and noticed right away the little speed improvement over the stock kernel that comes with CM 6.1.0 stable
- When turning on GPS in house, (WiFi already on) Data connection pops up alongside the WiFi (is this normal?, never noticed it this doing with the nightly)
I just installed but now when connected via USB cable the phone is no longer being recognized by may laptop The phone as well does not come up with a notification, yet is starts charging?!
anyone...suggestions?

Finally we have a stable version of the best rom around here. New life for our heroes.
Already downloaded this at cyanogen not tried the nightly roms, but have used RC version, looks good
Will give this a shot, coming from RC1, Fly kernel 11c...tell ya if its faster
Go Cyanogen!!
What kernel does this ROM use? Is it based on... FlyKernel or some other kernel from a rom on XDA. Or is this CM's own work?
If the kernel isn't great, is it possible to replace it with something nice like FlyKernel?

correct me somebody if I'm wrong but it is highly recommended to flash flykernel right after you flash the ROM... at least I do it this way and then linpack shows nicer numbers )
CM6.1 flashes it's own kernel, and it is slower, so after the test i flashed Flykernel-12 Pre1 and this is way faster.
seems i cannot connect to WiFi using this bad boy...anyone else suffering this?
to upgrade my rc1 to this one, I just make a nandroid backup and i directly flash the 6.1.0 ? or I've to make a wipe etc...?
thanks
so is this rom working solid or is it slow?

Know of any themes that can be used with this? I tried the HTC Black that was referred on the [COLLECTION] thread under Hero GSM General, but it did NOT work - I had to revert to a Nand backup to get things back to normal! However the white standard android is a bit grating on my eyes. If anyone knows of good themes that work with this please let me know! Thanks!

zips with tf300t in it are for the transformer pad
Also available via Goo Manager
Installation and bugs are also same as CyanogenMod 9
So, download the zip, transfer it to the sd, reboot into Recovery and do a backup (always preferred, but optional), then install the zip.
Install GApps afterwards if you aren't coming from a CM9 / CM9 based ROM
Also read the CM9 thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669827 (has some useful info)
Since neither of us has the device personally, the builds are untested, and we rely on you, the users, to help us.
Report anything wrong with the ROM, and what you'ld like to see in it.
Report issues here : http://code.google.com/p/sgt7/issues/list
(Do not report device-specific issues, i.e. stuff not working on CM9, report only stuff that you saw as a setting and didn't work as expected)
Lastly, thanks to the CyanogenMod team, for all their work, and thanks to the guys who ported ics to this tab.
It's just meant to be an addition of tablet specific tweaks to CM, and we might look forward to merging this functionality into CM later on, but for now, have fun with this.

Awesome thank you! Gonna try this out now.
*EDIT*
Okay so after playing around with the rom, I have no sound. Made sure it wasn't muted or anything.
*EDIT again*
Not sure what's going on, now I lost my sound regardless of what rom I'm on. Tried wiping data and everything. Gonna keep on checking out to see what's wrong.

Confirm, now all good, flashed over cm9 ex2. Thanks!
UPD: Question - what difference between 1) Settings-->Performance (interactive, ondemand etc) and 2) Settings --> Extended Settings --> Cpu Settings --> Cpu Mode switch.
Who's "the boss" of these two?
The CPU in extended settings is "boss" if you set it lower you will see that the CPU never reaches 1500 even if you set it in performance

Those settings (performance, interative, ondemand, conservative) rule how fast and when does the CPU goes up a notch. If you have it on performance you CPU will be at the highest stepping set by the CPU Settings (e.g. 1500mhz). Conservative takes more time to step up the CPU so you might see some lag there. The most used one is interactive, it steps up quickly when needed (for example, when running a game).
In summary, the CPU Settings say how high and low can the pad go, and the governos say how fast can the cpu power up the device to higher CPU speeds.

Yep, I understand and know it, but then I don't understand why we need options in "Extended settings" if we can use any CPU control to do that.
And ok, I got answer - CPU Control is the "boss" and has higher priority)
Great ROM! Only issue so far is that system ui crashes when flipping the combined bar in tablet tweaks, have tried every other tweak and they work like a dream though!

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Note that this is a preview release and non-device specific bugs will not be accepted. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved.
Use these commands to get a logcat and dmesg
Code:
adb root
adb logcat > logcat.txt (wait for a few seconds then press Ctrl + C)
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt

Thank for the heads up.
Most likely the only requirements are the drivers for the region specific hardware, besides that it should be the same.
Hi!
First of all, thanks for this great new rom. Its feel like faster than 10.1 (maybe because of the factory reset)
My only problem i cant take PicSphere photos with Focal. The logcat is attached.

As far as I know Focal is still in a very early stage. It has bugs on every 10.2 rom.

Thanks in advance for any help
Wiped Dalvik and formatted cache and system and then installed that directly over the Alroger from 10th of August with the march gapps (there are newer ones - loading them now). Everything works and no bugs so far (only missing the tweaks from the alroger rom).
You only get root after becoming a delevoper like described above. But it works then without any third party stuff or any problems.
Wow! Just installed this to test for the weekend, but I don't think I have to go back I also flashed over alrogers last build (full wipe), and it's working very stable ever since. What is experimental about it?
Just one question, what governor and scheduler do you prefer cdesai (or others)? Is the standard on demand and row advisable, because it's pre-configured like that, or is that a misunderstanding?

+1 , If I'm not interested in connecting it to the Sprint CDMA network and only use it as a WiFi tablet is it OK to use the GSM ROM anyway if i only use the wifi? I always wondered that.
If by "bootup screen looks weird for a few seconds" you mean that the Cyanogenmod logo is stretched horizontally and you can only see the word "Cyanogen", I've been having that since I first flashed CM10, even the stable builds.
As for the ROM itself, it's nice and fast, but battery life is a *****. I know it'll get better, of course, so I'll just stick with this.

Introduction
Here goes my CM10.2 contribution to the good old Galaxy Tab 7". This is the ROM that I'm using and sharing with yout guys. It's based on the CyanogenMod ROM, with sgt7 repo goodies, sbradymobile's Trebuchet and Settings, OpenPDroid Patches to enable the use of the PDroid Manager Privacy App and hopefully humberos' kernel and TWRP Touch Recovery.

Troubleshooting
Mobile, Data, 3G problems? This ROM comes with the JPZ modem. You might need to flash your customary modem back. Just copy your modem.bin to /radio in the Tab.
Wrong MAC? Wrong IMEI? Try restoring files from /sdcard/backup/efs*/* to /efs/. If you don’t have a backup, then start over with FULL Restock, and next time save your backup/efs folders, which are created everytime you install CM10.1.
Market problems? Clear Google Services Framework data and reboot.
Multiple users is NOT supported by the OpenPDroid Patches.
Developer options: can’t find it? It’s hidden! Tap About tablet / Build number 7 times to unlock it.
No touch? That means you got the wrong kernel installed. A couple of builds had problems identifying the exact model. Just flash your kernel through recovery or heimdall / odin.
No boot? Stuck at the SAMSUNG logo? Flash the correct kernel using Download Mode using heimdall!
Deep Sleep not kicking in? Try wiping cLock’s data or freezing / removing it (com.cyanogenmod.lockclock).

Dev-Host Downloads and Ads
Please notice that Dev-Host has some really nasty snicky intrusive Ads in their download pages. DO NOT BE FOOLED! There is only one REAL download LINK, and it DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO WAIT, INSTALL, VISIT OR DO ANYTHING. And it's usually the smallest most discrete button of them all.
Check out the image bellow and be carefull with all the ads around the real download button. They might float around and trick you into clicking them.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience that might have caused. I've never even noticed that was happening because I use a HOSTS mod for blocking those nasty ads and sugggest that everyone do too. Check it out in this site: Blocking unwanted connections

I've got a cdma gtab and the resources to put up a build environment for it. I suck as a developer though, but would love 10.2 on my old tab so I'll take a crack at it if I can bug ppl here for help.

Hi alroger I am running your 4.2.2 version 10.1, without having any problem at all
I don't know if this one has any bugs, Is it possibe to update to this one only by just clearing cache and davlik cache through TWRP and after that to install the Rom , OpenPdroid and Gapps? I have to install all from scratch?
By the way the link for Gapps for 10.2 is not working page opens but is not downloading , I had already downloaded the rom and OpenPdroid
I have a full backup using TWRP to restore if I have any serius probems.
Thanks in advance and for the efford

No, can't keep your configs between major CM versions... you can try, but usually ends up in bad results. I recomend factory reset / wipe and restore your apps and data using something like Titanium Backup, but NOT the system settings.
Yeah, gapps seems to be having temporary problems right now... how about this temp link for you guys in UbuntuOne: gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip

Hi
I just installed the rom and thank you very much it's better than official cm 10.1 for me
But also I found some more issues
- boot logo is still weird on startup
- seLinux does not enable, just freeze when click ok
- unable to reset data with sdcard erase, just rebooting and system is the same. clean data from cwm works ok

Unable to setup restricted account. Crash when press setup icon from main user account

Ok, possible bug report, bluetooth headset doesn't seem to be working with skype and oovoo, how to get logcat again! Thanks.

How's video playback going on this one? That's a biggie for me, and has seen me take a little longer to move to each new version. I stream or store on an sd card, mp4's etc up to 1080p of about 1.5g and on 4.2.2 with mx player they are pretty much perfect.
I can certainly say that you guys have been beyond outstanding in keeping our tab relevant. Every time I think it's time to upgrade, it just works well enough (a bit slower I know, but still works) to keep my money in my pocket. My bank balance thanks you all!

Hey! thank you for your work! I just recently got an S2, and I love cyanogenmod. However, I tried installing the 2014-08-18 nightly, and I got a status(7) Installation aborted. set_metadata_recursive failed. I used to dev back in the day as well, and I know it has something to do with updater scripts. So I just wanted to give you a heads up! Thank you for your work again!
EDIT: I just tried the liquid smooth rom, and the same thing happened, it's probably just my device, I will investigate
EDIT EDIT: Did some research got it working, again, thank you for all of your great work!

Um I was using the Agat recovery, I followed this guys guide(After following his rooting guide) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W-1FPfgclM
What ended up being the problem, is that I've never had a phone where every rom and kernel install an entirely new recovery, so I didn't understand that and messed some thing up, but I solved the problem by simply installing the blasphemy kernel, rebooting into recovery for the new recovery, and then installing this rom. Which I must say, is very sleek and smooth, much props the CM team and the dev!

Yo! by the way, I don't know if it's my device or kit kat, but I've tried liquid smooth and this rom, and for some reason everything displays kinda blurry, or like low res on the screen. Is it because my dpi is too high or low? or is it a setting I gotta switch. Hopefully someone can help me out here, thanks!
P.S this is my first time with a "higher-end" phone, and I'm extremely excited to be finally be using kit kat

What is your DPI? Should be around 220. make it lower. Peeps like 182 for this phone.

Well its "higher end" to me haha. All my previous phones have been single core with very little ram. So experiencing dual cores on android is mind blowing to me haha.
And does CM11 has built in DPI settings? Or should I just get closed and do it?
One last question to everybody. The battery has been acting very wonky for me. It was charging really slow, and once it was fully charged I was playing with it for about an hour, and I lost not that much percent. Then I re booted it, and I only had 5% . is this normal for kitkat? Is the ROM or my phone?
LTE is still listed as Recommended when you go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Preferred Network type
Otherwise newest nightly build is alot snappier! Keep on the good work man!

That's normal. I flashed the August 19 nightly over Villuminati and my battery dropped from 70% to 20%. Just charge it back up; the battery will stabilize in a day or two.
Ah hell yeah, CM11 going official soon after grabbing my own E4GT
Not gonna flash it though - with this 4.5' screen, I'd like to use CM11 in 320DPI glory, yet Exynos 4210 just lags under that configuration (tried in Villuminati). Sticking to CM10.2, but still huge thanks for bringing this over!
Oh, BTW, in case anyone wants to see what *my* configuration looks like, do these:
1. Change "ro.sf.lcd_density" from 240 to 320 in /system/build.prop.
2. (optional) Add a line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" in the same file. This gives you on-screen nav buttons. If you do this, remember to turn capacitive key backlight off in Settings-Buttons.
3. Open Terminal Emulator. Commands:
su
wm size 768x1280
reboot
DONE - E4GT is now a Nexus 4, though MUCH slower

Got a weird issue. My phone was rebooting randomly, and my battery spun like a top...so I replaced it. Now with this new battery its still randomly rebooting, but not as bad. If I used my phone with that bad battery long enough, could that hurt my phone?
BBQ Log Kinda Wonky
http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#/d710/
I like using the bbq app to follow along what is going on, it seems kind of wonky. The CM 11 nightlies are not showing up as next nightly yet. Is there something someone needs to do to "reset" the page or will it just straighten itself out as more nightlies get built?
Thanks!

By chance, do you use ANKR? I bought ANKR batteries and they reboot all the time but the battery doesn't spin yet.
Double-Tap To Sleep & Go To Sleep Commands
I've been running earlier versions of this ROM since early 2014 and love it. The latest "Nightly" (08-20) seems to be working fine on my E4GT. I do have two questions, both relating to making my device work a little better in absence of a working physical "Power Button".
1. Can anyone report success or failure of utilizing the Status Bar "Double-Tap To Sleep" function? I've been trying to use it after each update of this ROM and can never seem to get it working. The Status Bar "Brightness Control" sliding gesture works fine, but not the "Double-Tap To Sleep" gesture. I was concerned that my use of Nova Launcher might be the cause, so I tested the function using both the Trebuchet and Google Now Launchers, but experienced the same problem. I'd appreciate any feedback or guidance on this issue.
2. One of the nice CM11 features is the "Go To Sleep" tile that can be found in the "Notification Drawer" Tiles, as well as being added to the Notication Screen Ribbon. What I'm looking for is the name and/or location of the file/command that initiates this "Go To Sleep" function. I'm looking for this as I'd like to assign Home Screen Shortcut and/or Nova Launcher Gesture to activate the "Go To Sleep" command, without having to pull down the Notification Screen. Nova Launcher allows you to assign "Activities" to virtually any command that can be found in your system file structure. However, I can not find the "Go To Sleep" command. If someone can point me to where that file/command is located and/or advise me of the file's name with the system, I'd really appreciate it.
As a side note... I know (and have) many apps and widgets that can switch off the display with a screen touch. However, all of them that I've tried not only turn off the screen, but also immediately lock it, as well (which I do not want to do in this case). The CM11 "Go To Sleep" command is the only one I've found that will turn of the display, but NOT lock my system.
Thanks in advance for any help and guidance you can provide!
I've noticed a couple tantalizing mentions of "soft reboot" recently, as integrated into the power reboot menu. The first link mentions the S4 specifically, but the second doesn't. It's not in our current build, so does that mean it's really only for that one family? Or maybe it just takes more time to make its way around?
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/70790
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/70811
@drk65, I could have sworn that the double-tap to sleep worked in the build a few weeks ago, but you're right that it doesn't work in the current one, so now I'm not sure if I imagined it or just forgot the trick to it.
hang after first reboot.
I wipe and install from a CWM recovery and everything is fine until I decide to reboot my device. Then I hang at Galaxy S2 screen.
My last rom was CM 10.1
Anyone have an idea what might be happening?
